DOBROVOLNY, Zdenek M. 1925-2008. Peacefully succumbed to Alzheimer Dementia on October 9, 2008 at the age of eighty-three. Zdenek ["Stan / Sidney"], also known as "Mr. D" a proud gentleman to the end, will be fondly remembered by his wife Caroline ["Kaja"] of forty-eight years; Paul (Irene), Mary Anne (Tom) and grandchildren - Alex, Mathew, Steven, David & Peter from Lake Placid, NY; Helen (Mike) in Montreal; and nephews and nieces in Ontario and outside Brno, CZ. Renowned for his keen ability of retaining worldly knowledge, described by many as our "bibliotheque", Zdenek could speak five languages, and loved listening to classical music. He had a lifelong devotion, and made significant contributions, to Sokol Canada and Sokol Abroad (Czechoslovak Gymnastic Association). LEWIS, William Morris - 1921-2008 - The family of Bill Lewis regrets his passing on October 5th. Bill is survived by his loving wife Helen; sons Dale (Margaret) and Guy (Dee) and extended family. Bill is also survived by brothers-in-law, Dr. Tanner, Dick Bryant, Jack (Carol) McDonald, Jim (Rae) McDonald and sister-in-law, Fay (Keith) Waite. All nieces and nephews were very special and loving to Bill and Helen. Bill was born in 1921 to Dr. and Mrs. Harry Lewis in Angusville, Man. Besides his parents, Bill was predeceased by his daughter Pat, sisters Betty and Peg and brother Harry. At an early age, Bill received his pilot's license when he lived in Battleford, joined the RAF and served in WW II. He later transferred to the RCAF, serving many years with Transport Command. During his flying years, many awards were received, one the Distinguished Flying Cross. Following his retirement from flying, Bill did what he enjoyed working at golf courses and curling clubs. His prowess at both sports will long be remembered by his many friends and competitors! At Bill's request, there will be no funeral. A private gathering of friends will take place at a later date. She was a resident of Cornwall and later lived in Kirkhill before moving to Maxville Manor. She was born on March 29, 1910 in Laggan, a daughter of the late D.D. Né le 18 mai 1935 à Rimouski, Québec, il était fils de feu Narcisse et Léah (Lavoie) Coté. M Coté a travaillé au Irving Pulp & Paper Ltd. à Saint-Jean pendant 25 ans avant sa retrauite. Il était un membre du 2ième degré, conseil 10251, Père Edgar T. LeBlanc des Chevaliers de Colomb de Grand-Barachois. JUURAKKO, Toivo 2008-10-11 Mr. Toivo Juurakko, age 84 years, a resident of Thunder Bay passed away peacefully in Thunder Bay Regional Health Sciences Centre on October 9th, 2008. Born in Alavus, Finland on August 26, 1924 he served in the Finnish Army from the age of 17 to 21 and married Sisko Raja-aho in 1956. He immigrated to Canada in 1957 with his wife and infant son, Hannu. Raymond and Melissa were born once the family was settled in Canada. He was initially employed as a carpenter and given poor work conditions, pursued employment with Domtar Woodlands, primarily working from bush camps in the Beardmore area. He retired in 1982 following a workplace injury. Toivo was an exemplary provider for his family and passed along strong work and family values to his children. He took pride in caring for his home and yard and enjoyed playing cards and spending time with his family. Toivo‘s six grandchildren brought much joy into his life. Toivo‘s life was characterized by what is known as “sisu” in Finn, demonstrating the ability to endure life‘s challenges, a requirement that again became necessary during his recent illness. Toivo will be sadly missed and lovingly remembered by his wife, Sisko, son Hannu and wife Erica, son Raymond and wife Debbie, daughter Melissa and husband Ken. Cherished Pappa for Evan, Jared, Carlee and Erin Juurakko as well as Nicholas and Jennifer Kowalczyk. He is also survived by brothers Erkki and Eino who reside in Finland. Numerous nieces, nephews and other relatives also survive throughout Finland and Canada. Toivo was predeceased by parents, Santeri and Jenny Juurakko in Finland along with 2 sisters and 7 brothers. Funeral Services for Toivo Juurakko will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Tuesday, October 14th, 2008 in the Chapel of Harbourview Funeral Centre, 499 North Cumberland Street, officiated by Rev. Jari Lahtinen of Hilldale Lutheran Church. Interment will follow in Riverside Cemetery. Visitation for family and friends will be held one hour prior to the time of Service. Donations may be made in Toivo‘s memory to the charity of your choice.

KOUHI, Leo 2008-10-11 Leo died unexpectedly in the morning on the 8th of October at his home, Pioneer Ridge. Leo was a man of quiet sensibility who cared deeply for his family and friends. Leo was predeceased by his wife Olive and his son Reginald Defeo. He leaves to mourn him his daughter Barbara (Larry) Hurrell and his son, Thomas Defeo. He will be sadly missed by eight grandchildren and five great grandchildren. His brother Edward (Pearl) Kouhi will miss his visits with his brother. Also surviving are his sister, Ruth (Karl) Olafson, sister in-law Betty Kouhi and numerous nieces and nephews. A graveside gathering of family and friends will be held at 1:00 p.m. on Wednesday October 15, 2008 at Mountain View Cemetery.
