CARON M. Hugues 1975-2008 Accidentellement, à Brigham, le jeudi 9 octobre 2008 à l'âge de 33 ans, est décédé M. Hugues Caron, fils de Mme Suzanne Jetté et de feu M. Gilles Caron. Outre sa mère, il laisse dans le deuil son fils Xavier, sa soeur Isabelle, ses neveux Cédric et Vincent Larocque ainsi que plusieurs autres parents et amis. La famille de M. Caron sera présente au Funérarium le lundi 13 octobre à compter de midi afin de recevoir les témoignages de sympathie. BLACK, Marion Joan 2008-10-11 Mrs. Marion Black, age 82 years, resident of Thunder Bay, passed away unexpectedly and peacefully at Thunder Bay Regional Health Sciences Centre on October 7th, 2008. Born on November 5th, 1925 in Fort William, Ontario, she was raised and educated in Fort William and attended Selkirk Vocational. Upon completion of her high school education she was employed with Saskatchewan Wheat Pool as a Grain Accountant Clerk. Marion was a member of Trinity United Church. She is survived by her husband, Robert Black, her son Robert J. Black (Kim), daughter Lynda Fitzpatrick (James) and son Randy Black (Barbara). She is also survived by her grandchildren Adam Fitzpatrick (enroute from B.C.), Ryan Fitzpatrick (enroute from B.C.), Jeffrey Black and Matthew Black. Marion was predeceased by her parents Jeffrey Hodgkinson, Nellie Hodgkinson and stepmother Kay Hodgkinson. She was also recently predeceased by her only sister Beverley Erickson (passed away September 4th, 2008). Beverley Erickson‘s husband, Norman, is enroute from Toronto. Marion cared about her community, in fact she cast her political vote at the advanced poll on October 3rd. She was a volunteer with the Ladies Auxiliary at the Port Arthur General Hospital and was presented with a lifetime membership for her many years of service. She was also a member of the Topaz Rebecca Lodge for over 50 years. Marion had a witty sense of humour and was extremely sociable. She had a long list of "phone buddies" she called every day. Some of her best phone buddies were Eileen Cringle, Eileen Fullarton and Libby Smigel. Marion loved knitting and belonged to a Knitting Club of friends for over 60 years. She attended her last get-together with the ladies just last month. When she was younger, Marion and Robert loved to go dancing. They often would go to the Lotus Inn and "dance their legs off". Marion and Robert celebrated 61 years of marriage on May 6, 2008. Recently, Marion and her husband Robert enjoyed the Wednesday Night Concerts In the Park and never missed a concert with her friends Martin and Mary Fitzpatrick. Marion cherished her grandchildren. When Adam and Ryan were little boys they enjoyed many sleep-overs at Grandmas and went to Grandma‘s for lunch, every week, for French toast and apple sauce. Jeffrey made Grandma very proud with his university education accomplishments and Grandma was always proud of Matthew‘s career endeavours. Marion has been a long time member of Trinity United Church. Cremation has taken place. A service to celebrate Marion‘s life will be held at Trinity United Church, Tuesday, October 14th at 11:00 a.m. with Reverend Randy Boyd officiating. Thank you to the guys from the Fire Department and the gals with the Emergency Medical Services. Also thanks to the physicians and nurses at Thunder Bay Regional for your kind help. A special thank you to Sarah, R.N. who worked so hard throughout the night shifts providing care and support. You will always be in our hearts.

Born in Springfield West on September 5, 1924, the daughter of the late Ivan and Athens (Collicutt) Waite. Cherished mother of Richard (Jane), Mississauga; Nancy (Tom) Hoch, Kitchener, Ont. Loving grandmother of four grandchildren and three great-grandchildren. Dear sister of Lila Mackenzie, O’Leary; Clayton (Clara) Waite, Victoria, B.C. Sister-in-law of Donald MacIsaac, Dunblane. Predeceased by a sons, Nathan and Ross; brother, Gordon; and sister, Norma. LIZNICK, Catherine (Caye) McGlone (nee Philliban) - January 14, 1922 - October 8, 2008 - Passed away quietly in her sleep at 8pm October 8, 2008 in her 87th year, at her Yaculta Lodge residence. Caye, or Katy bun as she was nicknamed by her Granpa Peter Park, as a little girl was born at Bannockburn, Scotland on a such a snowstormy January 14th winter night in 1922 that the doctor couldn't make it out to their home. At age 3 she and her mother, Jean came to Schumacher (Timmins) , Ontario to join her father James, (Scotty) Philliban who was working for the Northern Ontario Power Company. Caye attended Schumacher Public and Highschool and at age 12 showed such promising musical talent she was invited to play for a week as a guest with the Toronto Philharmonic Orchestra. She excelled in the arts and music and anything she set her mind to. She worked at Bell Telephone in Timmins .In 1939 the family moved to Iroquois Falls, Ontario where she met her husband William(Bill) Liznick Jr.. She worked for Abitibi Paper Company . In 1963 Bill moved his family to Campbell River to work for Crown Zellerbach's electrical department . Caye sang in the Anglican church choir both in Iroquois Falls and in Campbell River, BC., and because of her lovely voice was invited to sing at weddings, and funerals. She taught ballet and figure skating in the “Falls“ and her scenic water colors and oilpaintings were always in demand. Caye and Bill were remembered for their huge flower and vegetable gardens which won them many first prizes in horticultural shows, and Caye's artistic floral arrangements were sought after by florists for weddings and funerals. Caye loved biking and cross country skiing and was a member of the ski patrol. When arthritis put a damper on her sports, and knee replacements spoiled the fun of skiing and dancing she took up pottery , winning many prizes for her original artistic clay creations. She then took up swimming at the pool where she even helped to teach . She made apple people, copper etchings, dried flower arrangements, pine cone wreaths and pursued many other artistic endeavours including a flair for creativity in cooking and baking to please not only the eye of the beholder but also the tummy. She loved to make and decorate cinnamon men for her grandchildren. Her musical talents led to being a member of the Melody Makers and the Silver Strings bands who entertained the public in the old Yaculta Lodge. She received a certificate from the City of Campbell River for her community involvement. She decided to get baptized again while in Yaculta Lodge and became a member of the Discovery Community Church. She enjoyed celebrating her 64th wedding anniversary with her husband Bill June 19th , 2008 at Yaculta Lodge with friends Gwen and Doug Simpson The world is a better place for her having been here . Caye was predeceased by her maternal granparents, Peter and Inez Park of Stirling, Scotland, Parents James and Jean Philliban. Caye will be so missed by her survivors: Husband ,William Colin Liznick, daughter Elizabeth Catherine Liznick, Son Brian James(Barb)Liznick, Sharon Jacklin(Liznick, nee Anderson), mother of Noni, Molly and Amy, Brother Patrick J. Philliban; grandchildren Noni(Robin)Stremming, Molly(Chris)Frederiksen, Amy(Joel)Ruel, Breanne Liznick: great grandchildren, Chloe,Lydia,Eden, and Seth Stremming, Lillian Frederiksen, Kael Liznick, Korah Ruel; her younger brother Patrick (Jean) Philliban of Ottawa, Nephew Gregory Philliban, Great Niece Krista(Ed) Charleboise and Hailea, Dalton,Kassandra and Jacob, Great Nephews Josh(Traci)Philliban and Casey ,Cousins; Tom (Eileen)Cullen, Tom(Donna) Cullen II and Tom III and Caitlyn, Jaimie(Bob)Ryan and Courtney, Paige and Christy , Norah White, of Florida, Maureen Philliban, of Washington, DC., Ronald Philliban of Stirling, Scotland, her dear friend Pat Guderjan, and many more whose lives she touched with her multitalented ways. BUTTERWORTH, Alfred Terrance (Terry). After a valiant battle with cancer, Terry passed away at the age of fifty-three on Friday, October 3, 2008 surrounded by his loving family. Cherished and loving husband to Joanne and devoted dad to Melanie. Dearly loved son of Jean and the late Alfred, brother to Peter (Carol) and the late Gayle, brother-in-law to Mark (Louise), nieces, nephews and friends. HUDSON, David W. It is with sadness that we announce the passing of David W. HUDSON on October 1, 2008. Beloved husband of Christine Elder and much loved brother of Paul Hudson (Barbara) Ottawa. Dave has been pre-deceased by his parents and by his brother Bert Hudson. He was born in Ottawa on 7 June 1938. Dave was equally at home in the theatre or roaming the countryside. He spent his life on stage, air and screen. He first "trod the boards" as a very young man on the stage of the Ottawa Little Theatre and his last stage performance was in Summerland. His voice was heard broadcasting from many regions of Canada and he contributed to many film productions. Dave's smile and loving spirit will always remain in the memory of all who knew him. He fought a brave battle with COPD and lung disease and we rejoice to see him breathing easy. David had many happy memories of summer camp in Golden Lake, Ontario and has requested that donations in his memory may be made to Christie Lake Camp, 400 Coventry Road, Ottawa, ON K1K 2C7 or any organization which offers less fortunate children a camping experience. TILTMAN, May Ethel (Nee Barnes) - It is with great sadness and profound gratitude for the length and quality of her life, that the family of May Ethel Tiltman (Nee Barnes) announce that she died peacefully at Rosewood Manor on 9 October, 2008, in her 95th year. She was predeceased by her beloved husband, Ted in 1987 and her oldest grandson, Steven Hill in 1991. May was a devoted wife, mother, grandmother, great grandmother, sister, aunt and friend. She will be dearly missed, but lovingly remembered by her children, Ann and Grant Hill, Norm and Colleen Tiltman, Carol and John Henry, Connie Tiltman and James Zink, and Bill and Cindi Tiltman. She was a special grandmother to: Dave and Joan Hill, Kristine and Jim Kobler, Brett Tiltman, Scott Tiltman, Susan Chamberlain and Paul Rooke, Greg Chamberlain, Ed Henry, Sara Henry, Lauren Tiltman-Zink, Connor Tiltman-Zink, Joel Tiltman and Emma Tiltman. May was one of eleven children and is survived by her youngest brother Donald Barnes and his family as well as many nieces and nephews. May received loving and tender care from the wonderful staff at Rosewood Manor for the past three years and her family will always be grateful to these very special people for their compassion and friendship. BAGGLEY, Juliette (Getty) Juliette passed peacefully on September 30, 2008 at Mayfair Care Center in Calgary at the age of 94. Juliette Rougeau was born in St. Boniface, Manitoba in 1914. She grew up in Otterburne and Transcona, Manitoba. Getty is lovingly remembered by her three children - Rolly (Donna) Baggley, Gil (Bev) Baggley, Donna Baggley (Hon Lee) and grandchildren Geoff, Joel, Darren, Dayna, Jaimee, Darryl, Howard, Cheryl and twelve great-grandchildren. Juliette was predeceased by her loving husband of sixty-two years, William, her four brothers Romeo, Eddy, George and Babe. She was also predeceased by grandson Ron. She is survived by her sister Beatrice Wery and her sister-in-law Helen Rougeau of Winnipeg. Juliette was a warm, positive person and a caring mother and grandmother. She was a peacemaker and made many friends wherever she lived. A Graveside Service in Calgary was attended by family and a Memorial Service will be held in Winnipeg, Manitoba. The family wishes to thank Trinity Lodge and the Mayfair Care Centre for the excellent care and attention given to their mother during the last years of her life. Albert Bourget died at Langley Memorial Hospital in Langley, British Columbia Tuesday, September 2 following a major heart attack at the age of 77. Mr. Bourget was born December 14, 1930 in Haileybury, the eighth of fourteen children to John and Suzanne (Décarie) Bourget. He studied at the Ontario School for the Deaf in Belleville, Ontario then return to the area. Mr. Bourget married Berthe Lortie July 1, 1961 and together they had a daughter, Lizette. Mr. Bourget was a well-known tailor within the Hinds and Colliers company in New Liskeard after which he opened the Classic Tailor Shop followed by Classic Upholstery which he operated until his move to Niagara Falls in 1974. Mr. Bourget then moved to British Columbia in 1980, where he spent the remainder of his days. Mr. Bourget was predeceased by his parents, sister Estelle, brother Henry, sister Florianne O’Toole. He will be lovingly remembered by his wife Berthe and daughter Lizette (Peter) Arendt as well as his grandson Pierre-Albert, his five sisters, five brothers and many nieces and nephews. Viewing arrangements and cremation were entrusted to Hendersen’s Funeral Home in Langley. Donations to any charity would be greatly acknowledged by the family of Mr. Bourget.

On October 3, 2008 Jean Bowen died at Tri-Town Extendicare Nursing Home in Haileybury. She was born in Tomstown on May 29, 1917 to James and Nellie Boland. Educated in Englehart, she married Lockie Bowen in New Liskeard on March 23, 1937. Mrs. Bowen was a homemaker who lived in Temiskaming all her life. She was a loving and caring wife, mother and grandmother who loved to read, quilt, do puzzles and was an excellent cook. Mrs. Bowen was a member of the Jehovah’s Witnesses for 70 years. She was predeceased by her husband Lockie in 1983 in New Liskeard; her daughter Judy Bowen; granddaughter Tracey Flood and grandson Peter Brazeau. She is survived by her children Chris (Andre) Brazeau, Isabel (Richie) Jibb, Marney (Bud) Flood, Anne (Yvon) Beauchamp, Nancy (Jim) Damberg, Claude (Darlene) Bowen and Wendy (Jeff) Carl; and by 68 grandchildren, great-grandchildren and great-great-grandchildren. The funeral was arranged by Perrin Funeral Chapel with the service conducted at the Kingdom Hall by Eric Jensen and Bill Scott (prayer) . Pallbearers were grandsons Michael Brazeau, Ivan Beauchamp, Donald Beauchamp, Shane Carl, Morgan Bowen and Dan Carl. Burial is at the New Liskeard Cemetery. He was predeceased by his grandfather Frank Hintenberger Sr. (May 26 1995), grandparents Teunis and Maria van Vliet and his uncle Frank Hintenberger (Feb. 7 1981) and Uncle Simon van Vliet. Born June 8, 1983 in Welland, Jonathan grew up and spent most of his life in Wainfleet. He graduated from Lakeshore Catholic High School in 2001. In July 2007 Jonathan married his Angel and high school sweetheart, Alicia Ciccone and lived in their loving home in Port Colborne. Jonathan was first diagnosed with Leukemia August 26, 2003. He persevered through endless times of doubt and inspired many to see that miracles can happen when true love is the driving force. Jon believed that “Hope SEES the Invisible, FEELS the Intangible and ACHIEVES the Impossible”. Eldon George Clair, aged 90, passed away Monday, September 29th, 2008 at Central Carleton Nursing Home, Hartland, New Brunswick. He was born on March 11th, 1918 in Gordonsville, NB to Bert and Azalea Clair. He was a graduate of Bristol High School and the University of New Brunswick (1949 BSc, 1950 MSc) and served in the RCAF during World War ll. Eldon married Maxine E. Noble of Bristol, NB on October 6, 1939. After a brief period of teaching school he became a forensic scientist, working for the RCMP in Sackville, NB and Ottawa, ON and then the OPP in Toronto, ON. Eldon was predeceased by his wife Maxine, brothers Claude, Donald and Preston, and his sister Freeda Orser. He is survived by his sister-in-law Pauline Gallagher, brother-in-law, Franklin Noble, and several nieces and nephews. A private memorial will be held at a later date. 1962 - 2008 Mr. Daniel Matchett, of Millerton, passed away accidentally on Friday, October 3, 2008, at the age of 46. Daniel was born in Miramichi and he was a carpenter. Besides his mother, Delia (Baisley) Matchett, Daniel is survived by Vicki Sickles of Miramichi; six daughters Tara (Jason) of Vancouver, Danielle (Matthew) of Miramichi, Stacey Lynn of Miramichi, Kaylee of Miramichi, Trish Chambers (Tim Jardine) of Miramichi, and Christine Sherrard of Miramichi; one son Jason Chambers (Jennifer) of Miramichi; three sisters Cindy of Alberta, Debbie of Alberta, and Hildie of Ontario; two brothers Kirk of Miramichi, and Tim of Alberta; one daughter-in-law Mary-Anne; and several nieces and nephews. Besides his father, Perley Matchett, he is also predeceased by one brother Laurie, and one sister Kyla. The family received relatives and friends at Northumberland Funeral Home on Monday, October 6, 2008, from 7 to 9. The funeral was held on Tuesday, October 7, 2008, from the Northumberland Funeral Home Chapel, at 11am with Reverend John Fraser officiating. Shirley Estey led the congregation in the singing of the hymns "Amazing Grace" and "The Old Rugged Cross". Soloist Crystal Doiron sang "I'll fly away". Crystal also read a poem. 1928 - 2008 Judson Floyd Sellars, husband of Mabel Sellars, of John Street, Miramichi, passed away at the Miramichi Regional Hospital, on Saturday morning, October 4, 2008, at the age of 80. Born in North Sydney, N.S., on March 10, 1928, he was the son of the late Elizah and Mary (Bennett) Sellars. He was a retired employee of the Canadian Armed Forces (R.C.A.F.), employed for the first 25 years as an Armament Technican and for the last 11 years of his Military service, as Manager of the Officers Mess, at the former CFB Chatham. He was a member of St. Andrews United Church, Miramichi; a member of the Men's Choir of his church; a member of the Miramichi Lodge, # 18, F&AM; a member of the Miramichi Shrine Club; a member of the Miramichi Golf & Country Club. He is survived by his wife, the former Mabel Morgan; three sons, James Sellars (Barbara), of Moncton, Robert Sellars (Joanne), Danny Sellars (Cindy), all of Miramichi; two sisters, Mary Moore (Walter), of Halifax, N.S. and Mae Sutton (Kenneth), of Toronto, Ont.; one brother, Roy Sellars, of Toronto, Ont.; five grandchildren; as well as several nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by his parents; his step mother, Elizabeth Sellars; one sister, Laurine Beer; one brother, Norman Sellars. Visitation was held at the funeral home on Monday. The funeral service was held from St. Andrews United Church, Wellington St., Miramichi, on Tuesday, October 8, 2008, at 2 pm, conducted by Rev. Charlene Maguire- Macknight. Music for the service was provided by David Mann and the hymns were "The Old Rugged Cross" and "How Great Thou Art". The anthem, offered by the men's choir, was "In The Garden". The Scriptures were read by Barbara Sellars; Family remembrances were given by son, James Sellars and a message of appreciation from the family was read by son, Danny Sellars. The honorary pallbearers were members of the Miramichi Shrine Club , who sat as a body and formed an honor guard, following the service. The active pallbearers were Alvin MacNaughton, Keith Holland, Andre Hachey, Bruce Morgan, Matthew Sellars, Kevin Flanagan. Following the service, a reception with the family was held in St. Lukes' Hall, provided by the ladies of the U.C.W. of St. Andrews Church. Interment was in Riverside Cemetery, Miramichi.
