WELLS, Jay Thomas May 19, 1971 - September 9, 2008 Jay Thomas Wells passed away peacefully at the Agape Hospice in Calgary after a brief battle with lymphoma, on Tuesday, September 9, 2008 at the age of 37 years. Jay travelled to Greece, Italy, Mexico, and across Canada, with Tofino on Vancouver Island being one of his favourite places. Jay will be missed by numerous friends and his best friend Jett (golden retriever), who were such an important part of his life. Jay will be lovingly remembered and sadly missed by his parents Aldon and Heather Wells of Chestermere; sister Billie-Jo (Jason) Arnott of Airdrie; niece Casey; nephew Brayden; grandmother Joyce (Don) Harper; aunts and uncles, Hartford (Judy) Wells of Claresholm, Susan (Phil) Marsh of Lethbridge, Virginia (Lorne) Trotter of Lethbridge, Barb (Daryl) Greene of Claresholm; and numerous cousins. He is predeceased by his son Greg; wife, Vi; second wife, Phyllis and granddaughter Sheri. Eleanor was born on June 21, 1920 in Saskatchewan; from there her schooling took her to Edmonton where she studied at the University of Alberta earning a teaching diploma in home economics. She was a gentle teacher, a loving mother and the best Grandmother ever who really took pride in being a great-grandmother. Eleanor will be missed by her daughter, Ann Hollands and her husband Garry; grandchildren, Stephen and his wife Chera, Christine and her husband Stephan and Roger and his wife Sara. She will be greatly missed by her great-grandchildren: Laura, Emerson, Caitlin and Liam. She was predeceased by her husband, George Cooper and sister, Lilly. MOSCA, Francesco Saverio "Harvey" September 7, 1935 - September 9, 2008 Harvey Mosca passed away suddenly on Tuesday, September 9, 2008 at the age of 73 years. Harvey will be fondly remembered as a devoted husband, loving father, wonderful brother and friend. Born in San Giovanni in Fiore, Italy, Harvey immigrated to Canada at seventeen years of age in 1953 to join his father, Frank, in Calgary. Together they worked tirelessly to bring their remaining family members to Canada. The family was successfully rejoined in 1954 in Calgary and has made their home here ever since. Here he met and married his wife of fifty-two years, June, and together they raised their family of five children. Harvey worked at the City of Calgary Sanitation Department for twenty-five years, making many lifelong friends. In 1976 he realized his life-long ambition of becoming a "self made man" and started his custom home building business, Canac Homes. He spent the remainder of his life building fine homes, enjoying the company of his many friends, mentoring his children and loving his grandchildren. Harvey's good nature and love of life was endearing and infectious. He loved family gatherings, dispensing advice, campfire cookouts, dispensing advice, making meatballs, dispensing advice, betting the ponies, and dispensing advice. He believed in "la Dolce vita" (the good life) and was eternally optimistic. His passing leaves his family with heavy hearts and will sadden all those who knew him. Harvey was a great friend to all. Harvey is survived by his wife June; sons, Frank (Karen), Tom (Marie) and Rich (Linda); daughters, Linda and Teresa (Rob); and his grandchildren. He is also survived by his brothers, John and Pat (Jeanne); and sisters, Maria (John), Kay (Dominic) and Rosie, as well as numerous nieces and nephews. Harvey was predeceased by his parents Frank and Teresa Mosca. Predeceased by his sister Teresa (1948) and his brother Giovanni (1949). Dear brother-in-law of Domenico Massanisso and wife Antonietta. Throughout his life, Gio's greatest joy was sharing with the large family circle that he was so blessed to have. Gio was retired from the City of Windsor Public Works Department and was a long time proud member of the Caboto Club. Visitation will be held at the Janisse Bros-Marcotte Funeral Home, 1139 Ouellette Ave. (519-253-5225) from 7-9 pm Wednesday and 2-5 and 7-9 pm Thursday with prayers at 8pm. The funeral service will be held Friday June 20,2008 at 8:45 am from the funeral home to St. Angela Merici Church for Mass of Christian Burial at 9:30 am followed by entombment at Windsor Memorial Gardens. Hawkes, Lester A. August 22, 1924 - June 17, 2008 Lester Hawkes husband of Clara of Moncton, passed away at The Moncton Hospital on Tuesday, June 17th, 2008, following a brief illness. Born in Curryville, Albert Co., he was the son of the late Paul and Gertrude (Upham) Hawkes. Les was a Veteran of The Second World War, and retired from The Moncton Airport following more than 30 years of service. He is survived by his wife Clara (Killam), sons, William (Linda) of Halifax, Paul (Virginia) of London, ON, daughters Linda Kennedy (Ian) of NS, Helen Barrie (Allan) of Costa Rica, Judy Terrian of Saint John as well as many grandchildren, nieces and nephews. Cunnington, Elgin May 15, 1924 - June 17, 2008 Passed in his 85th year at Woodhall Retirement Home, Brampton on June 17, 2008, following a courageous battle with cancer. Devoted and loved brother of Eileen (Howard Laidlaw, 2000) and predeceased in1992 by his cherished sister, Marilyn (Douglas Pinkney). Uncle Elgin was treasured by Linda and Peter Pringle, St. Catharines and Ruth Ann and Jon Zuber, Caledon. Scansen, Earl Keith January 29, 1925 - June 18, 2008 Mr. Earl Keith Scansen, of Prince Albert, SK passed away on Wednesday, June 18, 2008 at the age of 83 years. He was born on January 29, 1925 on the family farm in the Crichton district, near Cadillac, SK. In his younger years he worked in Northern Ontario near Kapuskasing in Logging Camps and in the summer worked on farms near his parents’ farm. He moved to Prince Albert and married Erma Barton in 1948 and they lived on a farm north of Prince Albert and later moved to an acreage near the city and in 1955 moved into Prince Albert where he has resided until his passing. While he worked at Bells Seed Cleaning Plant he took an electronics course and later worked in the radio/television repair business. Many roof mast TV antennas were raised by Earl. He first worked for and then operated Sonic Supplies jointly with his son Ron and retired in the early 1990’s. Work, family and gardening were his life. Earl is survived by his loving family: his daughter Norma Scansen of Moose Jaw, SK and her son Devon; his sons Ron of Prince Albert, Ken (Mary Ann) of Outlook and their daughters Sarah and Emily; Don (Ronda) of Ottawa and their daughters Katie and Anna; his two sisters Vi Barclay of Souris, MB and Jean Barker of Kincaid, SK; his brothers Dean (Hazel) of Prince Albert and Wilferd of Prince Albert; his sisters-in-law Fran Scansen, Wilma Haakenson and Annie Barton as well as nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by his wife Erma (nee Barton) in 2003; his parents Melvin and Alma Scansen; his sisters Corine Scansen and Marlene (Ray) Picard; his twin brothers in infancy and his brother Aron; his parents-in-law Lillie and Ab Barton; his brothers-in-law Al Barclay, Bob Barker, Louis Haakenson, Herb Barton; his sisters-in-law Clara (Bob) Thomson and Eva Scansen. Funeral service will be conducted at 2:00 p.m. on Tuesday, June 24 from Messiah Lutheran Church, 1796 – 15 Avenue East. Pastor Dan Haugen will officiate. Interment will take place in the Garden of Christus, Prince Albert Memorial Gardens. Rossi, Armand April 6, 1918 - June 20, 2008 Passed away peacefully June 20, 2008 at the Leamington Mennonite Home at the age of 90. Beloved husband of the late Joan (2003). Loving father of Dr. Susan Rossi and husband Dr. Lucas Georgandellis and of Paul Rossi and wife Sharon. Dear grandfather of Dr. Amanda Rossi; Ghia Rossi and husband Charles Clark; Christopher, Andrew and Paul Georgandellis. Armand was the founder of Ad-Signs Ltd. from 1949 until his retirement in 1984. He was a very well known artist, active at the Art Gallery of Windsor and his paintings are in many collections in Canada, U.S.A., Mexico and England. Armand served in the R.C.A.F. in England during WWII. Cremation has taken place. BLONG, Barbara (nee McOustra) - It is with great sorrow that we announce the passing of our wonderful mother Barbara on Tuesday, September 9th, 2008 at the age of 87. Barbara was a loving, generous person who always gave of herself to her family and friends and to her volunteer work. In return, she was loved by all who knew her. BADERSKI, Julian - 1920 - 2008 - Died peacefully Tuesday, September 9, 2008 at Timmins & District Hospital. One of seven children of Frank and Josephine Baderski, Julian is survived by his sisters Lorraine Charlebois of Timmins and Mary MacDonnell of Calgary. Julian has now joined his wife Mary (2001) in eternal rest. He is predeceased by his parents, and siblings Ed Baderski, Louis Baderski, Tess Lytle, and Florence Sauve. He is sadly missed by his children Janet (Michael Ronney) in Timmins, John (Jane Brooks) of Toronto, Carol (Michael Blencowe) of London, Ontario and his grandchildren Brianna, Megan & Alexander Blencowe as well as by numerous nieces and nephews. Julian worked at Frank Baderski & Sons and at McChesney Lumber/Domtar until his retirement at age 65. He was an avid sportsman and outdoorsman. He enjoyed canoeing with Mary and made many friends while golfing, fishing, and skiing. He was active skiing and on Kamiskotia Ski Patrol for many years with his friend Mert Lake. In later years he took up Bocce at the Dante Club where he made some wonderful friends. During the time of his illness, Julian received loving care and support from Bayshore nursing staff, Walford Retirement Home, Timmins & District Hospital, his sister Lorraine, and his friends Jim & Louise Morris. Throughout his life Julian was absolutely devoted to his faith and to his family. He truly lived a Christian life, forever humble and inspiring others by his actions more than his words. The family is grateful to Fr. Mitch Sliwa for attending to Julian during his final hour. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Timmins & District Hospital Foundation or to the building improvement fund at Sacred Heart Church. A memorial service will be held on Tuesday September 16, 2008 at 11:00 am at Sacred Heart Church. Interment will follow at the Timmins Memorial Cemetery.
