Eckmeier, Hans May 22, 1935 - June 13, 2008 Mr. Hans Eckmeier of Perkinsfield passed away peacefully at the Penetanguishene General Hospital on June 13, 2008, at the age of 73. Beloved husband of Herta. Devoted father of Roy (Chantal), John (Debra) and Michael (Kathleen). Loving grandfather of Michael, Terence, Ashley, Allison, David and Alexander Eckmeier. Dear brother of Ann Bartram, and brother-in-law of Helmut and Erna Fritz. Uncle of Robert Fritz, Lydia Bell, George Bartosic, Henry Bartosic and Michael Bartram. Simpson, Mary (Lewicki) March 24, 1915 - June 14, 2008 Mrs. Mary Simpson passed away peacefully at the age of 93years, in Pinewood Court on Saturday, June 14th with her family by her side. She is survived by her daughters Roberta (Ktytor), Patricia (Lennox), sons Gerald (Linda) and Raymond (Joan) Simpson. She had nine grandchildren, Brian (Jacqui), Bruce, Brent (Julie) Ktytor, Trevor (Stacey) and Tyler (Keri) Simpson, Jason and Darren Simpson, David and Tara Lennox. as well as eight great-grandchildren. She is also survived her sister Rose Simpson of Mattawa (enroute) and brother Danny Lewicki. She was predeceased by her husband Ray (Hero), her mother Nellie and father Michael Lewicki, sisters Anne (Rudiak), Stella (Falls), Sophie (Yeo), brothers John and Bill Lewicki. Mary’s main interests were her grandchildren, great grandchildren and her home. Her church was also very important to her and she was a lifetime member of St. Patrick’s Cathedral and a member of the Ladies’ Auxiliary. Prayers will take place at Jenkens Funeral Home, Tuesday, June 17th at 7:00 P.M. Funeral mass will be held at St. Patrick’s’ Cathedral celebrated by Rev. Msgr. P.M. Born in Sheet Harbour, she was a daughter of the late George and Grace (McKiel) Owen. She was a loving wife to the late Doug Verge and was a devoted mother, grandmother and a special friend to many. Her home was open to family and friends and any time spent with those she loved was special to her. Phillips, Marlene Ann April 23, 1961 - June 15, 2008 It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of Marlene Phillips on Sunday, June 15, 2008 at the age of 47. Wife of Bill Phillips and daughter of Jean Cudmore and the late John Cudmore. She was co owner of B & M Reefer and B & C Parts. Marlene will be sadly missed by her husband, Bill "Buddy", son Trevor (Amy), daughter, Angela (Chris) and four grandchildren; Alex, Caitlyn, Elijah and Colby. She is also survived by five sisters; Brenda Allain (Valmond) of Berry Mills, Janet Grayney (Frank) of Bridgewater, NS, Barbara Saulnier (Peter) of Berry Mills, Kim Campbell (Danny) of Indian Mountain, Shelley Hachey (Wayne) of Salisbury and one brother, Wayne Cudmore (Lanette) of Shediac. Marlene was an amazing wife, mom, and nanny, whose love for her family was endless. She loved gathering the family together for barbeques and holidays. No amount of words could ever describe how much she meant to us, our lives so blessed to have her in our lives. God must have needed another angel, thats why he picked you, he wanted the best. GREEN, THEODORE ROSEVELT (FISHER) - of Seal Cove Grand Manan Island passed away at the Grand Manan Hospital Friday September 5, 2008. Born at Seal Cove he was the son of the late Coleman and Ruby (Benson) Green. Fisher worked hard in the fishery all of his life as a lobster fisherman, ran scales for the Merle Corporation, and also worked in the weir fishery. He was very active in the community and served as Past President of the Grand Manan Curling Club, Past board member with the NB Fisherman's Loan Board, served on the Board of Director's for the Grand Manan Historical Society, Grand Manan Museum, and the Grand Manan Wildlife Association. An avid sportsman he enjoyed hunting and the fellowship it brought with his friends. Fisher was a member of the Seal Cove Baptist Church and served as a Deacon for many years. He is survived by his wife, Mrs. Eleanor M. Green (Hatt) of Seal Cove; his two daughters, Lois Beechin (Kevin) of Seal Cove, Julie Russell (Troy) of Grand Harbour; one son, Lloyd Green (Pat) of Deep Cove; seven grand children, four great grandchildren, many nieces, nephews and friends. He was predeceased by two grand daughters, Bridgett, and Destiny; three sisters, Mrs. Molly Laffoley, Mrs. Betty Ingersoll, Mrs. Margaret Guthrie; and one brother Morton. GANONG, Frederick George - On September 8, 2008 at the age of 76, the death occurred of Frederick George Ganong, who was the son of the late Walter and Ethel (Mill) Ganong. Mr. Ganong leaves to mourn son Norman Ganong of Saint John, as well as two granddaughters, Jessica and Lane Ganong. He also leaves several nieces and nephews. Fred was born at Long Reach, Kings Co. and was a member of the St. James Anglican Church. He spent most of his adult life in Saint John. He graduated from the former Saint John Vocational School. Fred participated in many school activities while at school. After graduation from Voc he worked at several jobs before starting his own Electrical Company, which he operated for over forty-five years. It still remains in operation today. For several years he coached the Saint John Rotary Ladies Basketball team. Fred also enjoyed training and driving his racehorses at Exhibition Park. Mr. Ganong also developed a small sub-division where he and his wife resided over the last few years. A Street & Mall still bearing his name. Fred was predeceased by his wife Eva and two brothers, Baby Walter and Albert, as well as one grandson Adam. E. Lacey), of Etobicoke, Ont. and Maisie (Mrs. K. N. Melvin) of Saint John; several nieces and nephews. Besides her parents and husband, she was predeceased by her two brothers, Donald and Alexander MacPherson. Isabelle was a member of the St. Mark's United Church, Nereides Temple #78 Daughters of the Nile & the Independent Order of Foresters. She was Secretary Treasurer for 27 years for D'Arcy Welding Co. Ltd. until her retirement in 1981. Lorraine Catherine Murphy 1914 - 2008 Lorraine C. Murphy, of Moncton, passed away at her residence on Monday, September 8, 2008, at the age of 93 years. Born in Saint John, NB she was the daughter of the late Andrew and Catherine (Foley) Ramsay. She was a member of St. Bernard's Roman Catholic Church an a lifetime member of St. Bernard's CWL. Lorraine loved to read, and spending the summers at the cottage with her family. A loving and caring mother, grandmother, sister and friend, she will be sadly missed by her daughter Suzanne McCabe of Moncton; her sons Patrick James Murphy of Florida and Terrence Michael Murphy (Valerie) of Mississauga; eight grandchildren Joanna, Stephen, Andrew, Ashley, Michele, Leslie, Patrick and Michelanne; seven great grandchildren; her sister Olive O'Leary and her brother Douglas Ramsey both of Saint John, NB; as well as nieces and nephews. Born in Young's Cove Road, NB, she was a daughter of the late Isaac and Lena (McNamara) Fowler. Ruth spent the majority of her working years as a music teacher. She started in Jemseg and taught in Minto, Plaster Rock and Nackawic. Ruth had a great passion for music and loved to watch her young student blossom through her guidance. She is survived by her loving husband of 51 years Reg; her two sons Ashley (Gail) LeBel of Peterborough, ON and Carman (Linda) LeBel of Bayfield, ON; two grandchildren Trevor and Devin LeBel of Peterborough, ON; a sister Geraldine Barrett (Rev. MORRISON, JEAN ISABELLA - The death of Jean Isabella Morrison of the Kings Way Care Center, formerly of Creighton Avenue, occurred peacefully on Saturday September 6, 2008 at the Saint John Regional Hospital. Born 1926 in Atwood, Ontario she was the daughter of the late Robert and Rosella (Wilson) Nichol. Jean was the last surviving member of her immediate family. Besides her parents, she was predeceased by her husband Angus A. Morrison in 1999, two brothers, Murray and Weldon Nichol and sister, Muriel. She is survived by one son, James, his wife, Ramona and two grandchildren, Daniel and James. She enjoyed most in life was sharing her life with Angus also Jamie and Ramona and her two grandchildren, Daniel and James, also her love for her friends. GARNETT, DOUGLAS - The death of Douglas Garnett of Saint John, NB, husband of Candace Garnett, occurred on Sunday, September 7, 2008 at his residence surrounded by his loving family. Born in Saint John on November 4, 1929, he was the son of the late Daniel and Laura (McCarther) Garnett. He loved his cars and his fishing and hunting trips. Douglas was an avid baseball player and a big fan of the Toronto Maple Leaf's. SOMERVILLE, Betty (nee Courtland) - Betty Jane Somerville, after a brief illness, passed away on Sept. 5, 2008 at Stratford General at the age of 81. Born in Creighton, Rose was a longtime and well liked Copper Cliff resident. She had worked at the Pickfair Store and Hollywood Shoppe for many years. A devout Roman Catholic she attended St. Stanislaus Church and belonged to the Parish CWL for over 60 years. She had been a founding member of the Copper Cliff Italian Club. She was a dedicated worker for the club's many events and dinners. She was acknowledged as the best spaghetti sauce and pasta maker. She enjoyed bocce, sewing and cooking and she had a passion for dancing. She will be remembered for her wonderful smile, her generous spirit, and her precious family. Beloved wife of Arthur Baldelli predeceased 1980. Loving mother of Norman (Shirley) of Manitoulin Island and Lorraine (Eric MacDonald) of Sudbury. Scamp Lee MacLeod 1950 2008 'Forever in our hearts' Scamp passed away peacefully at the Ross Memorial Hospital in Lindsay after a long and very courageous battle with cancer on Wednesday, September 3rd, 2008. Scamp devoted herself to her family, her work at Street Haven providing services for women in need and to her 'mother' Peggy Ann Walpole (predeceased) founder of Street Haven. Scamp discovered the artist within her and found great joy in her workshop and woodworking. Always strong, she continued to give under the most difficult life circumstances, participating as a member of the Healing Spirits Dragonboat team 2006 and as the drummer in 2007, the Relay for Life B Strong team in 2007, as well as volunteer driver for victims of violence. Her strength, sense of self, loyalty, joy of life and ability to care and love will be greatly missed by all who knew her, but most of all by her life partner, Kathleen Wild and sons Martin MacLeod Wild and Austin MacLeod Wild. She leaves her brothers Jack and Bill and sister Mona and many nephews and nieces. All are welcome to join her family and attend the service to commemorate Scamp's life. BRIAND, Frances Winifred (nee Diddie Higgins) - Peacefully in her home, Frances (Diddie) Winifred Briand passed away on Sunday, September 7th, 2008. Diddie is survived by her beloved husband and best friend Dannie. Loving mother of Frances and her husband Michael. A blessing to her grandchildren Erin, Trevor and his wife Sarah and great-granddaughter Lauren. Predeceased by her sisters Florence and Mayme and brothers David, Redmond, Patrick and William. Sadly missed by many nieces and nephews in New Brunswick. Diddie always held a special place in her heart for her family and friends in St. Stephen, New Brunswick, where she grew up. In 1961, she moved with her husband and daughter to Trenton, Ontario where she was an active member of the CWL at St. Peter's Church for over 40 years. Diddie was a remarkable lady who will always be remembered for zest for life and her love of family and friends. The family will receive friends at the RUSHNELL FUNERAL CENTRE, 60 Division Street, Trenton on Tuesday evening from 7:00 to 8:30 p.m. Mass of Christian Burial will be offered at St. Peter's Catholic Church on Wednesday, September 10th, 2008 at 11:00 a.m. Father Brian McNally officiating.
