BRITT, Kenneth E. The death of Kenneth E. Britt of Kiersteadville, NB, husband of Bonita L. (Friars) Britt, occurred at the Dr. Chalmers Hospital, Fredericton, on Friday, August 29, 2008. Ken was born in Saint John, a son of the late Leslie J. and Mary A. (Donovan) Britt. He had been employed as a systems operator with NB Power for 36 years until his retirement a number of years ago. He was a member of the Sussex Council of the Knights of Columbus; and the Hampton Golf Club. Besides his wife, he is survived by two sons, Stephen (Sandi) of Whistler, B.C., and David of Saint John; one daughter, Michele Doran (Billy) of Fredericton; four brothers, Dr. Daniel L. (Olga) of Rothesay, Raymond (Ellen) of Hamilton, Ont., John "Jack" (Marjorie) of Saint John, and Gerald (Mary) of Trenton, Ont.; three sisters, Shirley Dysart of Saint John, Joan D'Amours (Guy) of Sorel, Quebec, and Anne Levasseur of Saint John; four grandchildren, Ryan and Britt Doran, and Hilary and Brooke Carroll; and several nieces and nephews. Resting at Fitzpatrick's Funeral Home, 100 Waterloo St., Saint John, with visiting on Monday from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9. Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at the Cathedral of the Immaculate Conception on Tuesday morning at 12:05. Delbert Ardell Duncan, 88, of Port Elgin, and formerly of the Scott Road, Salisbury, passed away at home on August 29, 2008. Born in Lewis Mountain, he was a son of the late Oliver and Leila (Ripley) Duncan. He was the husband of the late Evelyn (Smith). Delbert was a retired farmer and livestock buyer. He is survived by his son, Stanley of Hopewell Cape; his daughters, Linda Harll (Edward) of Edmonton, AB and Freda Connellan (Peter) of Sherwood Park, AB; his sisters, Freda Steeves of Antigonish, NS, and Martha Simonds of the Moncton area; brothers, Walter of Kelowna, BC, and Roy of Edmonton, AB; as well as by several grandchildren, great-grandchildren, nieces and nephews. Besides his parents and wife, Delbert was predeceased by his sisters, Eva Lewis and Mona Smith; his brothers, Ormond, Thornton, Raymond and Robert, Wendell, Ernest and Morley. Visitation will be held on Monday September 1, 2008 from 7 to 9 pm in Armstrong's Funeral Home; the funeral service will be held on Tuesday, September 2, 2008 at 2 pm in the Lewis Mountain Baptist Church. Mrs. Kathryn Constance Thompson July 20, 1916 - August 29, 2008 Kathryn, age 92, wife of the late Earl Thompson, passed away peacefully at The Moncton Hospital on Friday, August 29th, 2008. Kathryn was born and grew up Tabusintac, NB., second daughter of Duncan and Annie (Murray) McIntosh on a country dirt road, attended a one room school house and did homework beside a kerosene lamp, dreaming and determined to be a teacher and live under city lights. By 1935 she graduated from Normal School in Fredericton, teaching in Tabusintac, Emmerson, Smiths Corner and Bryant’s Corner; and by 1944 living under the city lights of Moncton. Her two favourite inventions were the telephone and a shopping center, she never tired of either. She just loved life and lived it every day. She wanted her love expressed to everyone she knew that made her life so fulfilling, family, friends and the students she taught at Uplands, Victoria and Bessborough schools in Moncton. She said she has remembered every one of them throughout her life. She travelled, was a member with her husband Earl at Moncton Antique Car Club. At Peoples Park Tower she was a volunteer, loved bingo, bus trips and attending church. She has been a member of The Wesley Memorial United Church since 1944. She will be sadly missed by her 2 daughters, Edna Thompson (William Woodhouse) and Frances (Arnold) Hansen both of Bass River, NB, one son Willard “Bill” Thompson, Salisbury, NB, 9 grandchildren, 9 great grandchildren, nieces and nephews, an only sister Mildred (Thomas) Brunton, New Westminster, BC, and youngest brother Herman (Sally) MacIntosh, Moncton. Her other three brothers Roy (Winnie), Walter (Frances) and Murray (Eleanor) predeceased her. A memorial service “celebration of her life” will be held at Fair Haven Funeral home on Thursday, September 4th 2008, at 2:00 pm, Rev. Dr. Phillip Griffin-Allwood officiating. A reception will follow the service in the Garden View Reception room of the funeral home. In Kathryn’s memory, donations to the St. Andrews United Church, Tabusintac, NB, would be appreciated. COREY, John Thomas "Jack" March 3, 1950 - August 31, 2008 Jack passed away Sunday morning at Father Lacombe Care Center after a brave fight with MS. He was predeceased by his parents Burton Hatfield "Bud" and Irene Purcell, and his brother Robert Graham "Tex". He is survived by: his daughter and family Cara, Dean, Kylie and Cayde Augustine of Airdrie, Alberta; his son and family Kyle and Laura Corey of Qualicum Beach, British Columbia; his brother and family Jim, Jane, Matt, Luke, and Jimmy of Picton, Ontario; and his two best friends Jill Bearden and Joe Kukurski. Jack was born and raised in Calgary, where he worked, lived and laughed. He spent many years living between Calgary and Cabo San Lucas, Mexico with his family and friends. Mexico was Jack's spiritual home. He will be missed greatly by all. Rose Veronica Lloyd 1929-2008, wife of Michael Lloyd, of Bridgeview Drive, Miramichi, passed away at the Miramichi Regional Hospital, on Monday morning, August 25, 2008, at the age of 79. Born in Douglastown, on February 8,1929, she was the daughter of the late Lawrence and Bridget E. (Driscoll) Keoughan. She was a homemaker and a former employee of C. Smith & Sons Building Supplies Ltd. She attended St. Samuels Roman Catholic Church, Miramichi. She is survived by her husband, Michael; one daughter, Mary Lloyd, of Moncton; three sons, George Lloyd (Lynn), of Miramichi and Charles Lloyd (Lesley), of Sylvan Lake, Alberta and William Lloyd (Lucie), of Ottawa, Ont.; eleven grandchildren; six great grandchildren; four sisters, Margaret Anderson, Agnes Keoughan-Lynch (Ray), Rita Wrigley and Ann Clark (Les), all of Miramichi; one brother, John Keoughan, of B.C. ; as well as several nieces and nephews. She was prececeased by one sister, Jean Goguen; seven brothers, Daniel, James, Benjamin, Francis, Vincent, Lawrence, and Edward Keoughan. Visitation was held at the funeral home on Wednesday. Vigil prayers were held at the funeral home on Wednesday evening, at 7 pm, led by Father Maurice Swift. Mass of Christian Burial was celebrated from St. Samuels Roman Catholic Church, on Thursday, August 28, 2008, at 11 am, conducted by Father Maurice Swift. Music for the Mass was provided by Norma Sudgen, who accompanied Rick Sudgen for the hymns "Ava Maria", "Here I Am Lord", "Be Not Afraid". A very special musical selection, "My Wild Irish Rose", was offered by Kevin Driscoll. The honorary pallbearers were Ernest Latulippe, Earl Lloyd, George Lloyd, Shawn Bassermann, Chris Goguen, Michael Lloyd, Andrew Clark. The active pallbearers were Adam Lloyd, Mikey Lloyd, Bill Lloyd, Charles Lloyd, George Lloyd, Chris Latulippe. Interment was in the Parish Cemetery. TRUE, Mary Mildred Geraldine, a long time resident of Fredericton, passed away on August 30, 2008 in her 102nd year. Born in Bartholomew on September 23, 1906, she was the daughter of the late James Edward Burns and Martha (Schofield) Burns. Gerry as she was known lived and worked in Fredericton most of her adult life. She spent the last few years as a resident of Evelyn Grove Manor and the York Manor Nursing Home. Gerry is survived by one sister, Sister Helen Burns of Miramichi and many nieces and nephews. In addition to her parents she was predeceased by her husband, George True; her twin sister, Lavine MacDonald, sisters, Effie Randall and Cora McEvoy Watson; four brothers, Lloyd, Clayton, Carman and Burton. Born on May 11th, 1929, in Leonardville, Deere Island, New Brunswick, she was the daughter of the late Albert and Mabel (Tewksbury) Gardner. She was a professional seamstress and had worked for Singer Sewing Machine Company, throughout the Maritimes. She had also worked for the Canadian Bible Society as a bookkeeper and store manager in Halifax. Over the years, she gave her time and talents to many Church and charitable organizations. She was a dedicated wife, mother and grandmother. She is survived by her husband of 51 years, Rev. Waldo Elliott; her children, Ron (Marcia), West Brooklyn Mountain; Jocelyn (Dale) Robinson, Brackley Beach, PEI; twins, Andrew (Sandra), North Gower, Ontario, and Timothy (Lisa), Centreville; grandchildren, Christopher Elliott; Erin, Sarah and Matthew Robinson; Sam and Lila Elliott; Adam Chute and Eilish and Hanna Elliott; brother, Rev. Pauline Rosina Holzer (Folk) November 27, 1914 - August 30, 2008 Our dearly loved mother, grandmother, and great grandmother passed away on Saturday, August 30, 2008 at the age of 93 years. She was predeceased by her husband John Holzer in 1981; son Gregory in 1988; parents Anton and Adeline Folk; brothers Clem, Albert, Leo and Joseph; sisters Katherine Bast and Helen Falhman; and daughter-in-law Mary Holzer. Maria was born in Mien, Poland, on January 1, 1946 and immigrated to Canada in 1967. She was a loving homemaker and an avid gardener. For thirty-six years Maria enjoyed her job as a hostess at the Calgary Golf and Country Club. EDMONDSON, John Douglas The passing of John Douglas Edmondson, formerly of Burtt's Corner, NB, husband of 61 years of Iva (Clark) Edmondson, occurred on August 31, 2008 at York Manor Nursing Home. Born on September 30, 1928 in North Tay, NB, he was the son of the late Benjamin and Minnie (Wilkins) Edmondson. He was a mechanic and truck driver. After John retired he loved his farm and was an avid hunter and fisherman. John enjoyed time spent with his beloved family. In addition to his wife, John is survived by his daughters, Carolyn Brawn (Bob) of Hainesville, NB, Joyce Edmondson of Lincoln, NB and Susan White (Sean Costello) of Hainesville, NB; sons, James (Sandra), Bryan (Jocelyn) all of Burtt's Corner, NB, Cecil Phillip (Debra) of Keswick, NB, John Jr. "Boo" (Eleanor) of Burtt's Corner, NB and Gary Edmondson (Trudy) of Hainesville, NB; 18 grandchildren; 17 great grandchildren; three step grandchildren; sisters, Phyllis Merrithew (George) of Douglas, NB, Clara Yerxa of Burtt's Corner, NB, Grace Hawkins (George) of Burtt's Corner, NB, Alice Bird (Bill) of Keswick, NB and Mavis Brewer of Burtt's Corner, NB; brother, Walter Edmondson of New Hampshire and several nieces and nephews. McLeod, Edward Harvey February 18, 1921 - August 31, 2008 The death of Mr. Edward Harvey McLeod, husband of the late Hazel Winnifred (McCoach) McLeod, formerly of Martinon, occurred on August 31, 2008 at the Carleton Kirk Lodge. Born in Saint John on February 18, 1921, he was the son of the late Harvey Edward McLeod and Mary Ann (Parker) McLeod. Mr. McLeod worked for Thorne’s Hardware for many years and was a member of the Carleton and York Regiment as well as RCL Branch #69. He is survived by his son Dennis (Francine) McLeod of Saint John, Phyllis McLeod,and grandchildren Michael and Tracey McLeod (Jerry Sanders), and sister-in-law Ruby Day. Mr. McLeod was predeceased by his wife Hazel Winnifred McLeod, and brother Fred.
