Maurice Christopher Derouchie of 8th Street West ; age 62 years. Maurice will be profoundly missed by his beloved wife Margaret (Peggy) (Laframboise) Derouchie. Loving father of Karen Leger (Maurice Jr.) of Cornwall and step-father of Claudette Rozon (Ron) of Los Gatos, CA, Monique Lalonde, Lynn Lalonde-Taugas (Gilles), Daniel Lalonde (Brigitte Andrew) all of Cornwall, Lee-Ann MacLeod (Ken) of Ottawa and Nicole Dumond (Charles) of Toronto. Cherished grandfather of eleven grandchildren. Beloved son of the late Edmund Derouchie and the late Clara (Gaines) Derouchie. Predeceased by six brothers, Joseph, Roger, Leonard, Albert, Melvin, Lloyd and Roy Derouchie and by by five sisters, Violet McDougall, Viola McNaugton, Lorraine Saucier, Florence Parent and Darlene Derouchie. DAVIS, Eva (nee Moscovitch, nee Taub) 1921 - 2008 Eva passed away on Shabbat, Saturday, August 2, 2008 at the Beverly Center Glenmore, at the age of 87. She died peacefully in her sleep, and is finally reunited with her family members that perished in the Holocaust. She was predeceased by her husband, Lou Davis (1997). Eva led an inspirational life of survival and hope, surviving the horrors of Auschwitz, where she lost her entire family. Her remarkable triumph and story of survival through singing and serving as a beacon of hope to her fellow detainees, in the most horrific of circumstances, defined her positive and tolerant nature, and led to a life of courage, giving, loving and enjoying the small joys of life. She rebuilt her life from the ashes, first in Romania (Oradea), next in Israel (Kibbutz Beit Oren), and subsequently in Calgary, where she remarried, and owned for many years a successful business, Eva's Skin Care. Following the premier of "Schindler's List" Eva spent a number of years giving talks to school children, and youth groups, where she inspired many and taught them the power of courage, tolerance and forgiveness. For her life example she was recognized with the Mountain of Heroes Award, and the Alberta Centennial Medal. Her life story and attitude has always been an inspiration for all that knew her. Eva is lovingly remembered and will be missed by her family; sons Dr. Adam Moscovitch (Debbie) and Robert Moskovitz, daughter Gail Sidorsky (Brian); and grandchildren Faye Steinberg (Joel), Ryan Sidorsky (Minelle), Laura Olschewski (Sam), Aaron, Estee, and Bayla Ambrose, her six great-grandchildren, and her many friends in Calgary, and throughout the world. The family would like to extend their appreciation to her many caregivers, especially Vesna, at the Beverly Nursing home, and Drs. Kim Wilmot and Elaine Harris. Funeral Services will be held Monday, August 4 at 2:00 p.m. at the Jewish Memorial Chapel (Chevra Kadisha) located at the northeast corner of Highway 22x and 37 Street S.W. GORDON, Bill - Bill Gordon of Tofield, Alberta passed away on June 25, 2008 at Mississauga, Ontario at the age of 57 years. He is survived by his loving wife Pati; three sons Frank (Megan) , Billy and Patrick; his mother Dorothy Gordon; two brothers James (Carole) and David (Stephanie) ; one sister Nanci Gordon, numerous nieces and nephews, relatives and friends. Bill was predeceased by his father Frank Gordon. A memorial service was held at 2:00 p. m., July 20, 2008 at Bardo Lutheran Church, 4737 - 57 Ave., Tofield, Alberta, and was officiated by Rev. MORGAN, Gloria (nee Plexman) - 74, passed away peacefully on July 30, 2008 at home after a courageous battle with cancer. Her family was with her until the end. She was the wife of Carl Morgan and mother of three children: Jocelyn (Paul) Gignac of Tecumseh; Scott (Tracy) Morgan of Edmonton and Julie Morgan of London. Gloria was also the proud grandmother of two granddaughters, Jacqueline and Andrea of Tecumseh; two grandsons, Carter and Mackenzie of Edmonton. She is also survived by a brother, Fred Plexman and sister-in-law, Anne of Windsor; nephew, Dr. Todd (Charlene) Plexman and family of Sudbury; niece Christine (Andrew) McKelvie and family of Windsor; nephew Matthew (Sylvia) Plexman, and family of Toronto. She was predeceased by her parents, Henry and Julia Plexman of Sudbury; a brother, David and sister-in-law, Gail both of Sudbury. Gloria was a beautiful woman with hair as white as new-fallen snow; she was blessed with a personality and a smile that would light up a cathedral. While she was ill, she was contacted by many people who said they considered her as a surrogate mother. Although she had successfully battled breast cancer seven years earlier, he most recent illness was diagnosed in May this year. Gloria was born and educated in Sudbury, the city in which she and Carl were married in 1956. She graduated as a teacher from École Normale de l'Université d'Ottawa and taught in Northern Ontario before moving to the former town of Riverside where she taught at St. Rose and Georges P. Vanier schools. In her later years she became a veteran traveller, criss-crossing Canada from Newfoundland to Victoria, B. C. as well as much of the United States. Her overseas destinations included Turkey, England, France, Holland, Portugal, Hong Kong and mainland China. She enjoyed singing and became a member of St. Rose Church choir more than a quarter of a century ago. Gloria always gave freely of her time. She was a member of the first Hospice volunteer training class and worked faithfully with Hospice for 24 years. It was not unusual for her to provide continuing moral and logistical support to people she met through Hospice. She also worked with the sisters at Glengarda who developed a program of “patterning“ children who suffered from physical disabilities. In kindness, a donation to the Hospice of Windsor or to the Windsor Regional Cancer Centre would be appreciated. Visiting Saturday, from 7:00 to 9:00 p. m. and Sunday, from 2:00 to 5:00 and 7:00 to 9:00 p. m. at THE MARCOTTE FUNERAL HOME AND CHAPEL, 12105 Tecumseh Road, Tecumseh (519-735-2830) . Prayers Sunday at 3:00 p. m. The funeral will be held on Monday, August 4, 2008 at 9:30 a. m. from the funeral home to St. Anne Church for a Mass of Christian Burial at 10:00 a. m. Fr. BENNETT, Jeff It is with great sadness we announce the sudden passing of Jeff Bennett on July 30, 2008 at the age of forty-six years. Jeff is survived by his father Ed (Vivian), sisters Linda (Randy) Krisher, Teri (Bill) Descalchuk, stepsister Sabine Dinnert, niece Samantha Krisher and nephew Dakota Descalchuk. CLIMIE, Barbara Ann (nee D'Abreu) It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of our mother, Barbara Ann Climie (nee D'Abreu), after a long and courageous battle with cancer. She is lovingly remembered by her children Mark (April) Dias and Christina (Keith) Silvester, her mother Doreen D'Abreu and sister Maureen Reddie both of Sydney, Australia and her brothers Denis (Nicole) and Derek of Toronto, Ontario. She will also be missed by her precious grandchildren Quentin, Grace and Connor. Barbara was born on April 15, 1948 in Georgetown, Guyana and moved to Canada in 1977. She made her home in Calgary, AB where she settled and raised her family. She will be remembered for her elegant taste, beautiful gardens and her wonderful cooking and painting. HANCOCK, Pamela Kathleen May 27, 1940 - July 30, 2008 Pamela (Pam) Kathleen Hancock, beloved wife of Kenneth (Ken) Hancock of Calgary, passed away suddenly on Wednesday, July 30, 2008 at the early age of 68 years. Pam and Ken were married forty-seven years and in 1981 they immigrated to Canada from England. Pam enjoyed many days working in her garden and looking after the Southland dog park. She also cherished spending time with her grandchildren. She will be greatly missed by everyone that knew her and will always be remembered as a warm, kind, and beautiful person. Pam is survived by her beloved and devoted husband; her two sons; a daughter; and by nine grandchildren. BUSKARD, Phyllis W. (nee Morgan) 93, of Ottawa, Ontario, died on June 23, 2008, at The Governor's Walk Retirement Home in Ottawa. Beloved wife of the late Mason W. Buskard of Ottawa and the daughter of the late Norman L. Morgan and Kathleen (nee Wiley) of London, Ottawa and Toronto. Phyllis graduated from the University of Toronto with a Law degree in 1937 and was a member of the Alpha Omicrom Pi sorority. She was a member of the Christian Science Mother Church in Boston and a member of the Christian Science Churches in Toronto and Ottawa. She was also on staff at the Christian Science Benevolent Society in Chestnut Hill Mass. and The Wayside House in Victoria, BC, Canada. Her business career was with the law firm of Burritt and Barber in Ottawa. Phyllis is survived by her brother, Alan W. Morgan of Naples, FL and nephews, James (Kathleen nee Royce) and their children Anne and John of Huntington, N.Y. and John (Polly nee Vandusen) and their children, James and Christopher of Rodman, N.Y. No memorial service will be held in Ottawa but a private family grave side ceremony will be held in August in Woodland Cemetery in London, ON.
