Gail was predeceased by her husband of 32 years, Earl J. Deveau; brothers, Russell and Howard. Surviving are children, Laurie (Kevin) Barber, Hanover, Ont.; Kelly (Sandra) Deveau, Dartmouth; Jody Deveau (Barry), Wolfville; grandchildren, Holly and Taylor Selinger, Travis and Nicholas Leedham, Allie, Kassidy and Keigan Deveau; brothers, Keith and Neil; sisters, Marilyn, Louise and Lynda, all of Ontario; dear friend, Betty Sprague. Il laisse dans le deuil ses soeurs: Gertrude (feu Roger Moncion), Rita (feu Jean-Paul Quesnel), Dolorès (feu Daniel Cardinal), Yvonne (Gaétan Chevrier), Marie-Claire, soeur du Sacré-Coeur-de-Jésus et Lucille (Raymond Gadouas); deux frères: René (feu Anita Cloutier) et Gérard (Jacqueline Beauregard) ainsi que de nombreux neveux et nièces. Il fut prédécédé par son frère Léo et sa soeur Irène (feu Jean-Paul Laplante). Assistant responsable de l'administration à l'Édifice Deschâtelets, il a été un patron grandement apprécié par le personnel de la Maison et tous ses confrères Oblats et les milliers de visiteurs et pensionnaires qu'il a accueillis et servis depuis 1956. Born and educated in Ottawa, daughter of the late Collin Lillico and Eunice Whyte. Marjorie has been a lifelong member of the United Church, a CGIT leader, a Women's Institute member and a member of the Perth Regiment IODE. Loving wife for 60 years of Ronald Latham and cherished mother of Neil Latham and Paula (Luigi) Civiero. Beloved grandmother of Tanya Hind (Christopher), Matthew Civiero (Kate) and Daniel Civiero, and great-grandmother of Liam Hind. FOO, Kah-Wai November 30, 1943 - July 22, 2008 On July 22, 2008, Mr. Kah-Wai Foo of Edmonton passed away at the age of 64 years. Kah-Wai is survived by his two sons, Kuan-Neng (Alessandra) and Kuan-Jian (Hilary) and their mother, Catherine; common-law spouse, Kim Chang; two grandchildren, Syon and Satya; sister, Kai Yam Foo; brother, Dong-Wai Foo; also survived by his close friend, Anton Mitrovic; as well as numerous other relatives and friends. GAWLEY, Mary "Rita" (nee Leach) July 28, 1922 - July 22, 2008 Rita Gawley, beloved wife of Jim Gawley, passed away on Tuesday, July 22, 2008 at the age of 85 years. Rita was born in Haileybury, ON. She attended school in Northern Ontario and was a proud graduate of l'Academie Ste Marie in Haileybury, ON. She spent her career as a registered nurse and worked on staff at St. Joseph's Hospital in North Bay and Toronto. Rita also spent ten years at Metropolitan Separate School Board. Jim and Rita married at St. Rita's Church in North Bay in 1955 and together they took up residence in Toronto, ON until moving to Calgary in 1971. Rita was a dedicated member of the Catholic Women's League for over forty-five years. Besides her loving husband Jim, Rita is survived by her daughter and son-in-law, Madonna and Rod Malone; sister, Helen Leach of Ottawa, ON; and by her extended family. Rita was predeceased by her parents Edward and Ida Leach, and by her brother Leo. Anne was born in Sydney, NS on August 5, 1918. She was married to John Umbrite on August 23, 1943 before they relocated to Alberta in 1945. Anne was an active member of the Daughters of the Nile. She loved nature and especially bird watching. Anne was involved in numerous charities and various groups. She was an awesome mom with a great sense of humour. ROBBINS, Helen - It is with great sadness that the Robbins family announces the passing of its wonderful matriarch, Helen A. Robbins (née Laveck) in her 87th year. The loving wife of the late Mel Robbins, and mother of five children and their spouses: Terry and Marge, Larry and Debbie, Shari and Ervin Balanowski (Georgetown), Garry (The Canadian Giant) and Barry and Carol, Helen was the proud grandmother of Stephanie, Matt, Bart, Brittani, Brandi, Devin and Kylee and the great-grandmother of (Owen). She will be sadly missed by her family, including her twin brothers Harry Laveck (Thorold), and Harold Laveck (Florida) and wife Helen, Mary Thomas (Brantford) as well as Larry Scott, and Sally Read. Helen was a woman who was loved by all who knew her, including her fifteen brothers and sisters, her many nieces and nephews and other family members. A hairstylist, like her husband Mel, until her retirement in the early 1970's. Helen enjoyed her later years, living with the kind sisters at Mount Carmel Home in St. Catharines. Special thanks to Sister Anne and the rest of the staff for their loving care of Helen. Although Helen's passing was sudden and unexpected. It was a gentle leave taking for a gentle woman, who will be loved and missed always by her family and friends. MCEVOY, Ethel Mary - We lost our mother, grandmother and good friend on Wednesday July 23, 2008. She died with grace and courage after a lengthy battle with lymphoma. Founders of Star Typewriter and Business Machines. Long time Barrie Resident and tireless community volunteer, Sunday School Teacher and supporter of Barrie's Central United Church. Pre- deceased by her husband Jack McEvoy (1983). Loved mother of Lorne McEvoy and his wife Bianca of Barrie and the late Terry McEvoy and his wife Irene of Oakville. Loving grandmother of Wendy Weir (Fred) of Gibsons, B.C., Christopher and Dustin (Crystal) of Oakville and Taylor of Barrie. WICKSTROM, Leonard B. (Len) - Passed away at the F.J. Davey Home on Wednesday, July 23, 2008 at 81 years of age, surrounded by his family. Born in Edsele, Sweden to Jonas and Marta Wickstrom (deceased). Loving husband of Esther and dear father of Ric (Jodi) and Tina Pucci (Frank). Step father of Mike Wood (Lupe) of Michigan, John Wood and Cathy Tuell (Don) of Florida and Jim Wood (Cathy) of Virginia. Dearly loved by his grandchildren John, Eric, Stephanie, Ashley, Aaron, Izaak, Samantha, Kori, Zachary, Rico, Joshua and Frankie and great granddaughter Dominique. Last surviving brother of his 5 siblings. Len came to the Sault from Sweden when he was 3 years old. As a young man he had a variety of jobs and was multitalented. Len was a respected businessman in partnership with Don Delayer and Joe Richards at TriFuels. Among other things Len's Swedish pancakes, Pepparkakor and Swedish coffee bread will be sadly missed. RAE, Walter Henry - A resident of Leamington passed away peacefully at Windsor Regional Hospital Met Campus on Wednesday, July 23, 2008 at the age of 80, with his family at his side after a courageous battle with cancer. Son of the late Thomas and Matilda (Waters) Rae. Beloved husband and best friend of Patricia (Brailsford) Rae. Dear father of Patricia Coulter of Leamington, and Donald Rae and wife Karen of Chatham. Also survived by many nieces and nephews. Walter was employed by Chrysler in Windsor and retired after 24 years of service. He was a member of the I.O.O.F. Lodge #140 in Leamington. He loved to paint and wallpaper, and cheered on the Toronto Maple Leafs and the Blue Jays. MARTIN, Irene - Irene Martin (née Laperrière), beloved wife of the late Delma Martin (September 1993), passed away Thursday, July 24, 2008 at North Bay General Hospital. Irene was in her 91st year. She is survived by daughters, Lillian Martin of North Bay and Vivian Davis (Bob) of Sudury; sisters, Victoria Laporte (Leo- deceased); sisters-in-law, Cécile Laperrière and Simone Laperrière and many nieces and nephews. Predeceased by her parents, Wilfred and Delia Laperrière; sisters, Delima Turgeon (Aimé-deceased), Alice Desrosiers (Oliver-deceased); brothers, Oscar Laperrière and Wilfred Laperrière Jr. and son-in-law, Cecil Campbell (December 1997). Irene and her husband Delma spent 35 years on a farm in Balsam Creek before moving to North Bay in 1977. Her main loves were her family and home.
