CROCKETT, Lynda 2008-07-25 Crockett Peacefully at home with her family by her side, on Thursday, July 24, 2008, Lynda (McNally) Crockett of London and formerly of Thunder Bay in her 79th year. Beloved wife of Jim. Dear mother of Hugh Crockett & his wife Lorena of St. Catharines and Ken Crockett & Melody Johnson of London. Mary Irene Clark 1931 - 2008 It is with great sadness we announce the passing of our mother on Tuesday, July 22, 2008, at the age of 76, at the Miramichi Regional Hospital after a courageous battle with cancer. Beloved mother of James (Cheryl), Jacqueline (Ray) and Jason. Loving grandmother of Brittany and Jack. She is survived by three sisters, Elizabeth Neilson of Oromocto, NB, Jacqueline Wood of Miramichi, NB, and Kay Foran of St. Catherines, ON. She is predeceased by her husbands, Earle; Mother, Catherine; Father, James; and Brother, Reginald. Irene was born in Newcastle on August 28, 1931 and was raised on the family farm on the king George Highway. She was educated at St. Mary's Convent and attended St. Mary's Catholic Church. Her first career was as the secretary to the Mill Manager Mr. Murcie at Fraser's Pulp Company. As was the Custom of the time, when she married Earle it was necessary to leave the position at the mill. She followed him to Edmundston, NB where he was transferred by NB Tel as a lineman. It was there James was born. The next move was to Saint John, NB as another transfer in 1964. it was here that Irene laid the framework for a long nurturing family life that would include another daughter Jacqueline and son Jason. Following the sudden tragic death of her husband Earle in 1976, she remained in Saint John for one year and then returned to her roots in Newcastle, building a home beside the old homestead where she enjoyed the support of her family siblings and mother in raising her own. Over time she held a number of temporary secretarial positions in the area. Irene had a passion for literature and reading that would be surpassed by few. Always reading four to six biographies and non-fiction theory or political books at the same time. She found comfort in her religion and attended mass almost daily at various Catholic churches on the river. She always enjoyed the many church suppers that went along with such a large repertoire of parishes. Being an exceptional cook herself, she always appreciated the skill and work to prepare such home style meals. She was very proud of her two young grandchildren and followed their talents and education with interest. She was always active walking the "bridges" until of late, cross country skiing and bowling with the Seniors Club. She supported her church through activities in the RCIA and Parish Council. The sight of her little black car around the river in early morning going to church and then Tim Horton's or Burger King for breakfast will sadly be missed by her many close friends, some who she had from childhood. In honor of her brave battle with cancer, donations can be made to the Canadian Cancer Society or a charity of one's choice. The family wishes to express their gratitude to the staff of the Miramichi regional Hospital for their compassionate care of Irene in her last days. At the request of the family there will be no visitation. A public Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated from St. Mary's Roman Catholic Church on Saturday at 10am. KLOSE, Margret (nee: Rieve) On July 21, 2008 at the age of 78, Margret passed peacefully into the arms of the Lord, surrounded by her family. Margret was a courageous woman with a kind and gentle heart. She will be missed and forever remembered with love by her husband Rolf Klose and their three daughters, Petra Vogt (Nick), Barbara Klose (Gordon Kerr), and Caroline Pataky (Frank), as well as two grandchildren and three great-grandchildren. TRAIL, JENNIFER RAYLENE It is with profound sadness that the family announces the death of Jennifer Raylene Trail on Wednesday, July 23, 2008 in the cardiac ICU at the QEII Hospital in Halifax. Jenny was born July 11, 1988, the daughter of Garth and Laurie Trail. Anyone knowing Jennifer has enjoyed the wonderful positive energy she carried everywhere she went. Her infectious smile, snapping brown eyes and beautiful freckles have touched us all in many ways. She lived life to the fullest at all times and has left her special imprint on all our hearts. Besides her parents, Jennifer is survived by her sister, Jessica (Jason Ryan); boyfriend, Chris Peterson; Grandparents, Red and Jean Hayes, Dawn and Sidney Journey; Aunts, Valerie Nikkel (Dennis), Shelley Chessie (David), Beth Urquhart (Carl), Lynn Trail, Tammy Journey-MacKenzie (Derek); Uncles, Dale Trail, Keith Trail (Berta), David Journey; and many cousins. GRAY, Alice Louise (nee Wilken) - Passed away peacefully on July 21, 2008 at St. Joseph's Hospital in Elliot Lake, in her 80th year. Beloved wife of David (58 years) loving mother of Robin (Gael), Dale, both of Brisbane Australia and Terry (Lorrraine) of Sudbury. Cherished grandmother of Kieran and Kezia. Survived by her sisters Grace Lasso, Gladys Dares and Audrey Kempel, and her in-laws, Evelyn, Keith and Pat. Till recently she was very active in Elliot Lake's Stage Door Players. She loved art, music, decorations, crafts and the outdoors. She was always the first to help in anyway she could. Alice mostly enjoyed her visits to Australia to see her sons and grandchildren. She now is a “Spirit in the Sky“ and we will miss her dearly. Alice will be sadly missed by numerous friends and relatives. A memorial service will be held Saturday July 26, 2008 at 1:00 p.m. at the Moose Lodge in Elliot Lake. BUMSTEAD, Leona Alice - Leona Bumstead passed away on Sunday, July 20th 2008 in the Kingston General Hospital. Leona is the loving and loved wife of Lawrence (Lorne) William Bumstead. Leona and Lorne resided in their family home on Jakobi Road in Castleton. Leona is loved by, and will be missed by her children, including Ed Wilson (and wife Tammy), Mike Wilson (and wife Josette). Will Wilson (predeceased by wife Christa), Claude Bumstead (and wife Christine), Evelyn Bumstead and Lorne Bumstead (and wife Becky). Leona has great pride and love for her grandchildren, which include Jessica, Ashley, Travis, Anthony, James, Logan (predeceased), Tierney, Jake, Alexis, Shadoe, Krislyn, Phoenix and Adria. Leona loved, and is loved by many friends, and near all who came in contact with her. Special mention is noted for her childhood and lifelong friend, Elsie Blight, and her two very close friends who assisted her in the later years in many ways, Beverley Simpson and Rhonda Purdy. In addition to the above named, Leona is mother to Jackie, Jim (predeceased), Marie, Diane and Laura. HORN, James "Gordon" December 2, 1914 - July 24, 2008 Gordon Horn of Calgary, originally of Winnipeg, MB, passed away on Tuesday, July 24, 2008 at the age of 93 years. Gordon was born in Winnipeg, MB on December 2, 1914. He graduated from the University of Manitoba from the Faculty of Electrical Engineering. Gordon was working in Northern England during the outbreak of World War II. He joined the Royal Navy as an officer and throughout the war conducted anti-submarine research. He married Gladys "Jane" Young in 1940 and after the war, they moved to Canada. In 1948, they had a son who they named Peter. Gordon continued as a research and planning engineer with Bell Canada for thirty-two years. Upon retirement they moved to Calgary to be close to Peter. Gordon and Jane enjoyed sixty-seven wonderful years together until Jane passed last year. Gordon will be truly missed for his sense of honour, humour, and for his thoughtful nature. Gordon is survived by his son and daughter-in-law, Peter and Julie, as well as two grandsons, Austin and Danny all of Calgary. PERERA, Doyne Anton May 31, 1927 - July 23, 2008 Doyne Perera passed away peacefully at the Rockyview Hospital. Doyne was born in Ceylon (Sri Lanka) and had a tremendous gift of enjoying life and giving joy to all those around him. Doyne came to Canada in 1970, at the age of forty-two, with his wife and four young children to make a new and better life for his family. Doyne was happiest spending time with his family, friends, and his community in creating wonderful memories and traditions we will treasure forever. Doyne was also successful in his career, first as an Excise Inspector in Sri Lanka, and then for seventeen years as an inspector with Canada Customs. Doyne will be missed dearly and remembered lovingly by his wife of fifty-four years, Lynnette Padmini Perera; children Dilan (Sherry), Sharmalie, Hiran (Angela) and Marina (fiance Greg Julian). Doyne was a beloved grandfather and will be cherished by his grandchildren Brenna, Ilana, Marlo, Aneil, Alysha, Anton and Colin. Doyne will be missed by all his surviving siblings, in-laws, and nieces and nephews, as well as, Nihal and Shanthi Fernando, Simeon and Sunetha Samuel and his nephews in Canada. BOONE, ALICE (PACKHAM) Alice Rose (Packham) Boone of Fredericton, NB, wife of the late Raymond Lewis Boone, went to be with her Lord on July 24, 2008 at the Dr. Everett Chalmers Regional Hospital, surrounded by her loving family. Born on June 17, 1927 in Toronto, ON, she was the daughter of the late William and Alice (Britton) Packham. Alice lived a full life being a loving wife and mother, raising her family in Toronto. In 1977, Alice and her husband, Raymond moved to Harvey Station, NB to begin their lives as Christian Missionaries for the Shantymen's Christian Association. Those who knew her, saw her faith in action as she lived it daily. She will be sadly missed by her children, William Raymond Boone (Teri) of Stirling, ON, Byron Daniel Boone (Catherine) of Brockville, ON, Patricia Alice Dewar (Paul) of Prescott, ON, Harold Robert Boone (Rowena) of Fredericton, NB and Kathleen Joyce Barnet (Ross) of Royal Road, NB; grandchildren, Timothy and Michael Boone, Jamie Boone and Allison (Cameron) Holmstrom, Melody Barr (Rob), Andrew (Sara) and Joanna Boone, Andrea and Natalie Lister; great grandchildren, Samantha and Allan Barr; sister, Joyce Leary (Robert) of Bobcaygeon, ON; several nieces and nephews. Besides her parents and husband, Alice was predeceased by her step-brother, Frederick Packham and his wife, Peggy.
