MANDERSON, John Henry Suddenly at his home on Thursday, June 5, 2008, of John Henry Manderson of Charlottetown and formerly of Cardigan, age 82 years. Henry is survived by his sister Theresa Manderson, special niece Marie MacEachern and numerous nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by his parents - William and Annie May Manderson. Resting at Hillsboro Funeral Home, 2 Hollis Ave., Stratford for visitation on Sunday, June 8, 2-5 p.m. Funeral mass will be celebrated on Monday, June 9 at the Church of the Most Holy Redeemer at 10 a.m. Interment will follow at St. Cuthbert’s Cemetery, St. Teresa. JOHNSTONE, Shirley (nee Christian) 1935-2008 It is with great sadness that the family of Shirley Johnstone announces that she passed away on Thursday, June 5, 2008. Shirley went in peace from the Hospice at May Court with family at her side. Loved mother of Vaughan and Julie (Alan Becke), beloved Grandma to Alexandra (ATG). Shirley's life was a wide and varied adventure. As a graduate from the Toronto Teacher's College, Shirley began her career as a one-room school teacher in Angus, Ontario. From there she went on to travel with Foreign Affairs, posted in Ceylon, Ghana, Cuba and New York. In her later career, she was a Ward Clerk for over 20 years at the Ottawa Civic Hospital (B5). In her other life Shirley was a story-time reader, Brownie and Guide Leader, devoted reader, recreational geologist and stock-trader, passionate gardener, and occasional mischief maker. She enjoyed the great outdoors and all things connected to nature, and always found time for a cup of Salada Orange Pekoe. In her six year battle with cancer, Shirley met many outstanding people who helped her fight the good fight. The family would like to thank Dr. Tien Le of the Gynecology-Oncology department of the General Hospital, he never gave up hope and Shirley was always grateful for that. We would also like to thank the nurses of the Gyn-Onc 8th floor day chemo unit: Kelly-Anne, Jacinthe, Brenda and Karen. Never did they falter in their care and commitment to their patient. The family would also like to thank Dr. Virginia Hurdon and the truly exceptional nursing staff and volunteers of the Hospice at May Court. There is no finer group of people and we are ever grateful for their unwavering dedication and compassion. At Shirley's request, the family will be conducting a private family service. In memoriam donations to the Hospice at May Court would be greatly appreciated. Always loved, never to be forgotten, moving forward to new adventures. BURKE, (TEED), MARGOT P. - 67, Dartmouth, Nova Scotia, Beloved wife of Donald J. Burke, passed away in Dartmouth General Hospital on June 4th, 2008, surrounded with love by her husband, daughter, and son. Born November 25th, 1940, in Saint John, N.B. She was a daughter of the late George and Janice (Harrison) Teed. Margot was a student at Edgehill School and Mount Allison University. She was employed by Montreal Trust, Saint John, N.B., Imperial Oil, Saint John and Dartmouth, and Royal Bank, Dartmouth. All her life Margot loved to dance and in her twenties was a performer with the highly regarded ''Fundy Frolics''. She sang with Dartmouth's Aeolian Singers, loved musicals, Viennese Waltzes, played piano for her own enjoyment and excelled in music festivals as a young girl. She enjoyed traveling with her husband, family gatherings, neighborhood get-togethers and trips to visit her grandchildren. Margot loved Christmas and would shop and prepare all year long to give her family a wonderful holiday, family traditions and memories. Besides her husband, she is survived by daughter, Susan Corbett Thibodeau (Benoit), Montreal and son, John Rivers Corbett (Monique), Fredericton, N.B.; sister, Janice Willis (Ray), brothers John Teed (Pat), George Teed (Valerie) Brian Teed (Sandy) and Bill Teed (Stephanie), all of Saint John. She also leaves behind five grandchildren, who adored her and she them, Jeremy, Ashley, Jesse, Jamie and Hailey. A much loved wife, mother and grandmother will be greatly missed. Lauretta Léger 1936 - 2008 Lauretta Léger, 71, of Bouctouche Baie has passed away after a lengthy illness at the Stella-Maris de Kent Hospital, Sainte-Anne de Kent on June 5th, 2008. Married to the late Alfred Léger (2004), she was born in Bouctouche on December 16th, 1936 to the late Arthur and the late Laura (Jaillet) Allain. Lauretta was a labor for B.A. Richard. Lauretta is survived by her three children, Monique Léger (Kelly) of Cocagne, Russell (Ella LeBlanc) of Bouctouche, Clarence (Gisèle Richard) of Wisener; three sisters, Louisa Allain (Gene Mazerolle), Diana Cormier both of Bouctouche Baie, Hélèna Poirier of Bouctouche; two grandchildren, Joline and Gabriel; one great grandchild, Jordan; and several nephews and nieces. She was predeceased by one sister, Auréa; and one brother, André. Visitations will be held at the Maillet Funeral Home Ltd., 29, rue de l'église, Bouctouche on Saturday, June 7th 2008 from 9 to 10:45 am. Ernest Freeland Estabrooks 1949 - 2008 Dorchester, N.B.- It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of Ernest Freeland Estabrooks, age 59, husband of Gloria (Strang) Estabrooks on Thursday, June 5, 2008 at the Sackville Memorial Hospital. Ernest fought a courageous battle with pulmonary fibrosis. Born in Sackville, N.B. on April 24, 1949, he was the son of the late Norris and Marion Estabrooks. Until an injury in 1990, Ernest was a truck driver for J.W. Baughan Ltd. Even though he could not drive for the past eighteen years, his interest and his love of trucks never diminished. His greatest joy was his granddaughters. They were the light of his life and his eyes lit up every time they walked into his room. Besides his wife Gloria, he is survived by one son, Jason (Julie Goodwin) of Dorchester, N.B.; one daughter, Barbara (Steven Peters) of Tignish, PEI; one brother, Alan (Debbie) Estabrooks of Porters Lake, N.S.; his two beloved granddaughters, Paige and Marcie Estabrooks; and several nieces and nephews. Arrangements are entrusted to Campbell's Funeral Home, 89 Bridge Street, Sackville, N.B. (364-8188). Visitation will be held on Saturday, June 7, 2008 from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 P.M. The funeral service will be held at Campbell's Funeral Home, Sackville , N.B. on Sunday, June 8, 2008 at 3 PM with Pastor Morris Mills officiating. Burial will take place in the Sackville Cemetery. Ralph Daniel Curry At Sunnybrook Veterans Hospital on Wednesday, June 4th, 2008. He will be sadly missed by his Son, Brad (Sidia) and daughter, Laura Symons. Loving grandfather of Robin, Rene and Tyler. He will be fondly remembered by his brother Don (Greta) and sisters Eileen and Audrey (Lee) Doane. He was predeceased by Sister Muriel and will always be loved and remembered by his relatives and friends. Ralph was a Veteran of WW11 serving in the merchant Navy on convoy duties crossing the North Atlantic Ocean many times. Funeral will be held in Toronto, June 7.

Gloria Bouchard (Maillet) Maynard Mass, U.S.A. Mrs Gloria Bouchard (Maillet) died Tuesday, June 3rd, 2008 peacefully at home surrounded by family after a courageous battle with cancer. She was 58. Born in St-Nobert, a daughter of Marie Maillet of Bouctouche and the late Alban Maillet (1987) Gloria enjoyed spending time with her family and friends both here and in Canada. She especially cherished the time she spent with her husband and daughter proudly watching her grandson Brandon participate in various sporting events. She was a devout Catholic who volunteered many hours for those in need and was an active part of the prayer community at the Espousal Retreat Center in Waltham. She leaves her husband of 35 years, Jean M (Zambo) Bouchard, her daughter Sherry (Richard) and grandson Brandon, all of Waltham, her step son Donald and his family of Templeton, U.S.A., three brothers Noel (Glenda), Gerald (Fernande), Livain (Yvette) of Bouctouche and three sisters, Irene Richard (Bernard), Anise Belliveau (Jean) of Bouctouche and Stella Thibodeau (Léon) of St-Norbert and many nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by two sisters Vitaline (1941), Simonne (1995) and two brothers Oscar (1943) and Désiré (1997) Visiting hours are Monday, June 9 from 4 to 8 p.m. at The Joyce Funeral Home, 246 Main Street (Rte 20), Waltham and the Funeral Mass will be on Tuesday, June 10 at 10 a.m. A burial service will be held in Bouctouche at a later date. GOOD, Ray Wilfred - Passed away peacefully at his home in Kelowna, B.C. June 2, 2008 in his 90th year. He was predeceased by his wife of 58 years, Bertha Ferne Good (nee Cook) in 2004. Loving father to Debbie (Stuart) and Raydene (Jack). Grandfather to Kiersten and Carmen. Born in Good Corner New Brunswick to Ben and Rosa Good (nee Perley) in 1919. Ray was brought up in Good Corner New Brunswick of farming heritage. He took vocational training, farmed, and logged until the outbreak of World War Two when he joined the army. He served his county overseas and was part of the allied liberation forces in Holland. Upon returning from the war he married Ferne and continued to work in farming and logging but after a time decided to further his education to become a carpenter. They set out for Ottawa to establish a new life. Their daughters Debbie and Raydene were born and brought up there where he was a good provider and hard worker rising to the position of General Superintendent for a large construction /development company in Ottawa. At the age of 50 his spirit of adventure drew him and his family to Vancouver and subsequently to Victoria where he finished his working years with the Department of National Defense. He and Ferne were extremely happy with their life in Victoria in their heritage home near the ocean where he could garden 12 months of the year. For 20 years they entertained many many friends and family in their island paradise. In 1993 they moved to Kelowna to be closer to family as Fernes health was failing. After Ferne passed away he moved to Hawthorn (an assisted living retirement community) where he resided for the past 4 years. He very much enjoyed the staff and other residents and in true Ray style influenced all who he came in contact with. Though restricted in his activities because of lung disease, his creativity and ingenuity continued until his final days as was indicated on his electric wheel chair with various adaptations he had made. He will forever remain in our hearts as a man full of stories and sayings that never ceased to entertain all who knew him. The family would like to thank the excellent staff at Hawthorn who became a part of his family, Dr. G. McCauley for his excellent care, and Dr. H. Davidson for his faithful service. A memorial service to honour Ray's life will be held at 1:00 pm on Wednesday June 11th at Guisachan Fellowship Baptist Church 2210 Stillingfleet Kelowna BC with Pastor Allen Hern officiating. A reception will follow in the Fireside Room. If desired, a donation to the BC Lung Association or flowers maybe given. ROBIDOUX, Evelyn Martha (née Campbell) - C'est avec beaucoup de tristesse que la famille annonce le décès de notre mère, grandmère et arrière-grandmère Evelyn Martha Robidoux (née Campbell.) Elle est décédée le 6 juin 2008 au Elizabeth Centre à l'âge de 81 ans. Elle était la veuve de feu Gérard Robidoux. Maman a grandi à Lefaivre, en Ontario. Elle est née le 11 janvier 1927. Elle était la fille de Marie Anne (née Gratton) et John Colin Campbell. Maman et papa se sont mariés en 1947 et après avoir vécu quelque temps à Garson, ils se sont installés à Levack pour y élever leur famille. Maman a pris sa retraite de l'enseignement en 1982, après avoir influencé la vie de nombreux élèves dans la région de Sudbury. Elle éprouvait beaucoup de joie à être avec les enfants de tous âges, y compris les siens, bien sr, ses précieux petits-enfants de même que les enfants qui marchaient au centre commercial. À ses yeux, chaque bébé était le plus beau. . . jusqu'au prochain qu'elle rencontrait. Pour maman, la famille était tout. Elle a élevé six enfants, a travaillé tous les jours et a pris soin de son mari. Malgré tout cela, elle avait toujours le temps de repasser nos sous-vêtements. Chaque occasion de se rencontrer en famille lui était chère. Noël était le plus important événement de l'année. Lorsque nous fermons les yeux, nous pouvons encore humer les tartelettes au beurre et le pain maison. Nous nous rappelons avec bonheur l'arbre de Noël et les cadeaux enveloppés dans du papier brillant un peu partout. Mais surtout, nous conservons tous ces bons souvenirs qui resteront gravés dans nos coeurs pour toujours. Lorsqu'ils ont pris leur retraite, maman et papa ont voyagé pendant quelques années, se rendant en France, en mémoire des soldats canadiens qui ont participé à la guerre, et en Floride, pour être bien au chaud pendant l'hiver. Ils aimaient voyager et être à l'étranger, mais ils aimaient encore davantage être à la maison, dans le West Arm. À la maison, ils se remémoraient certains souvenirs par des histoires. Des histoires à propos de la vie à la ferme avec leurs frères et soeurs. Nous riions à propos du Gazooki, à propos de la fois o Vicky a dit à grand- maman “Tu sais, il faut que je sois sotte parfais.“ “Pourquoi?“, demandait grand- maman. “Parce que ma mère me dit de ne pas devenir trop smart.“ Après 50 ans de mariage, Heaven in '97 (“The Bash“) fut une fête mémorable qui a duré une semaine. Notre frère (vous devinez lequel) disait que peu de femmes avaient la chance d'épouser un Robidoux. Maman l'a fait deux fois! Tu nous manques, papa. Le dévouement de notre mère durant la longue maladie de notre père était inébranlable. Elle était plus courageuse qu'on ne le réalise. Lorsque papa nous a quittés, nous avons réalisé que maman n'allait pas passer ses dernières années de vie à voyager à travers le monde et passer du temps en compagnie avec sa seule soeur toujours vivante, Françoise Yelle, de Montréal. Elle ne pouvait plus faire toutes les choses qu'elle avait mises de cté pour faire de la place à ceux dont elle voulait s'occuper. La maladie d'Alzheimer a commencé à l'affecter et à prendre son emprise, lentement au début, puis après quelques années seulement, elle ne pouvait plus mener la vie qu'elle désirait. Nous, ses enfants, lui souhaitons tout ce qu'il y a de mieux dans son périple là-haut: Pierrette (Larry) Wright, Carmen (Gary) Munroe, Michael (Catherine) Robidoux, John (Ann) Robidoux, Carole (Joel) Harmer et Louise (Michael) McConnell. Elle manquera srement beaucoup à ses petits- enfants, Clifford (Deb), Curtis, Chris (Kim), David (Lucy), James, Jennifer (Matt), Andy, Kate (Saran), Elizabeth, Tara, Trevor, Lucas, Marie et Joshua, de même qu'à ses arrière-petits-enfants, Geoff, Suzanne (Craig), Jon, Pat, Dawna Rose et Wyatt. Nous te reverrons dans nos rêves. Nous aimerions remercier sincèrement tout le personnel et les soignants du Elizabeth Centre pour leurs soins et leur compassion. C'est une tâche quelque peu ingrate que de prendre soin de ceux dont nous ne pouvons occuper seuls. Nous vous sommes pleinement reconnaissants. Votre rle est difficile, mais il est important. TINNING, Donnie Robert (Tino). (Formerly of Montreal, QC and Lake MacDonald (Harrington), QC). Peacefully at the Hawkesbury General Hospital on May 16 in his seventy-eighth year after a courageous battle with cancer. He was a successful employee of Canadair for 39 years from 1946 to 1985. He leaves to mourn his loss his extended family, Dick, Lois, Michael (Lisa) and Deron (Corie) Dunbar and was cherished "Poppa Tino" to Ryan, Megan, and Rylen. He also leaves to mourn his loss numerous friends. At the request of the deceased cremation has taken place and no services are planned. ARTON, Colin Griffith July 8, 1922 - June 4, 2008 The family of Colin Arton sadly announces his passing on June 4, 2008 at the age of 85 years. He will be lovingly remembered by his wife of sixty years, Mary; his son Mark (Karen) Arton of Calgary; his daughter Colleen (Douglas) Chamberlain of Regina; his grandsons Dean (Leanne) Chamberlain of Toronto, and David (Jayne) Chamberlain of Dublin, Ireland. Colin served in the RCAF for thirty years, and worked at Alberta Public Works until his retirement in 1988. Having a life-long interest in nature, Colin was an avid gardener, and enjoyed spending time in his backyard and neighbourhood. LANDALS, Orren Keith January 17, 1928 - June 4, 2008 Keith Landals passed away suddenly at home on Wednesday June 4, 2008 at the age of 80 years. Keith was born on January 17, 1928 on the family farm near Hardisty, Alberta. At a very early age he became fascinated by airplanes and they remained his lifelong passion. He attended high school in Bassano, Alberta and immediately joined the RCAF, serving until 1951. He moved to Edmonton where he met and married his wife, Mercedes in 1955. They had two daughters, Donna and Alison. Keith worked as an aircraft engineer in Edmonton, in his own business and with Northwest Industries. He later joined Shell Canada aviation and moved to Calgary in 1971, spending many years flying across northern Canada until his retirement. In the past few years he made several friends at Whitehorn Village and was cared for by his daughters and nephew, David Normandin. He will be fondly remembered for his generosity, sense of humour and love of both reading and his family. Funeral Services will be held at HERITAGE FUNERAL HOME, 1708 - 16 Avenue N.W. ROSS, John "Jack" 1940 - 2008 John "Jack" Ross of Calgary passed away peacefully at his home on June 4, 2008 at the age of 68 years. Jack was born in Kirkland Lake, Ontario, where at sixteen years old he joined the Kenogami Water Ski Club and made many lifelong friends. He spent time in Labrador and travelling in Europe before finally settling in Alberta. More recently he travelled to Japan with his son and daughter. He will be lovingly remembered by his son Brendan, daughter Colleen, their mother Jane (Mike), brothers Murray (Midge), Bill (Betty), and Robert (Freda), his lifelong friends from Kirkland Lake and all his family and friends from across the country. He will be remembered for his sense of humour and generous spirit.
