BLUE, Alvin Earl - At Lee Manor in Owen Sound Saturday morning May 17, 2008. Alvin Blue of Owen Sound formerly of R.R.#1 Allenford in his 90th year. Beloved husband of the former Evelyn McCulloch. Loved father of Donna and her husband Allan Kuhl of Desboro, Shirley and her husband Dann Demars, Keith and his wife Donna all of R.R.#1 Allenford, and Murray and Cindy of Park Head. Lovingly remembered by his eleven grandchildren and four great-grandchildren. HARVARD, Dorothy May (nee Somerville) - At the Welland County General Hospital on May 18, 2008 in her 92nd year. Beloved wife of the late John V. Harvard. Survived by her step-children John H. Harvard (Olivia), Nancy Pauls (Wald), Doris Jansen (Mark) and Shirley Elliott (Thomas). Sadly missed by many step-grandchildren and great-grandchildren. Predeceased by her parents Robert and Clara Somerville, sister Ruth, her first husband Harold Giles (1984) and step-son Alan Giles. Dorothy was a member of St. Andrew's Presbyterian Church, Welland and a member of the Women's Association, Honorary member of the Presbyterian Women's Missionary Society, also serving on the Niagara Presbyterian Women's Missionary Society, Honorary life member of Crowland Women's Institute, former member of Welland Business and Professional Women's Association. A funeral service, conducted by Pastor Thom Braun, will be held at the H.L. HOLTE-SMITH, Arnold Chapman January 4, 1925 - May 16, 2008 It is with great sadness we announce the passing of Arnold Holte-Smith on Friday, May 16, 2008 at the age of 83 years. He struggled with leukemia and passed away peacefully at the Foothills Medical Centre. He leaves behind his loving wife Mary after sixty years of marriage; daughters Gillian (Darrel), the late Tina; seven grandchildren, Richard, Brent (Rhona), Jason, Paul, Shannon, Troy (Melissa), Sara (Roy); and ten great-grandchildren Mary, Brianna, Jessica, Emma, McKenzie, Hugh, Andrew, Morgan, Madison and Austin. He will be remembered as a very loving man. He was born in England and did service in India as Captain in the Royal Marines during WWII years. He led a very fulfilling life, working for ICI in England and came to Calgary, Canada in 1975. He was then semi-retired and worked for Merryl Lynch Securities in Calgary. He will be sorely missed by our whole family. KITTLE, Ann (nee Dobko) Family and friends sadly report the loss of Ann Kittle who passed away on May 17, 2008, at the Rockyview General Hospital. Ann was born on the family farm at Keiw, Alberta, on the first day of October, 1912, to John and Theodosia Dobko. The Dobko family subsequently moved to Ranfurly, Alberta, where Ann met and married Wallace (Wally) Kittle of the neighbouring town of Lavoy, in 1933. In 1940 Ann, Wally and their four children, Wesley Wallace, Marlene Ann, Dolores June and Clinton Neil moved to Toronto. In the summer of 1949 the family returned to the west to take up residence in Calgary where they remained. Ann lost her loving husband on the 28th of December, 1961, when he passed away suddenly. She was also predeceased by her first born, Wesley, in 1996, and subsequently by his wife Rachelle in 2004, who was very dear to her. In 1988 she experienced the loss of her treasured daughter, Dolores. Ann is survived by her daughter Marlene (Russell) Kinakin of Calgary and her son Clinton of Nanaimo, B.C. She also has two surviving sisters, Olga Kozub of Edmonton, and Martha Lakusta of Vegreville, Alberta, as well as five grandchildren, nine great-grandchildren and one great-great-granddaughter. Funeral Services will be held at LEYDEN'S Chapel of Remembrance, corner of 17 Avenue and 2 Street S.W., Calgary, on Thursday, May 22, 2008, at 1:00 p.m. with Pastor Rick Bayer officiating, followed by a Reception, then a Graveside Service at Rocky View Garden of Peace (16 Avenue and Garden Road N.E.) CHORNOBOY, John 1918 - 2008 It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of John Chornoboy, beloved husband of Catherine (Kay) of Calgary. John passed away on May 17, 2008, at the Foothills Medical Centre, at the age of 89 years. John was born in 1918 in the R.M. of Mossey River and grew up in the Village of Fork River, Manitoba where he attended elementary and high school at the Mossey River School before leaving home for the world of work. He joined the army in 1940 and served with the Royal Winnipeg Rifles Regiment. After a year in the army, he received an honourable discharge due to health reasons. Following his short career in the military, John worked in the gold mines at Bissette, MB and in the nickel mines at Sudbury, ON. John married Catherine Filopowich, of Elma, MB in 1952. In the 1960's, John and Catherine moved to Calgary where John was employed by Qualico Construction and later, by the Federated Co-operatives before retiring. John enjoyed amateur sports, fishing, gardening and traveling. He leaves to mourn his passing, his wife of fifty-five years, Kay; his brothers, Maurice (Dagney) and Harry (Jean); his nephews, Michael, Gary, Greg, Harold, Doug, and Leslie; his nieces, Rinde, Stephanie, Joanne, Hayley, Amy, Devynn and Morgan; and sister-in-law, Angie. McLELLAN, Ray Franklin 2008-05-20 1934-2008 Ray McLellan, age 74 of Thunder Bay passed away suddenly on Monday, May 12, 2008 of a heart attack. He is survived by his children Paul (Myra) of Toronto, ON, Lynn Wilson (Al) of Oshawa, ON, Cheryl Dingman (Brian) of Didsbury, AB, Scott (Beatrice) of Winnipeg, MB, Janet Treacy (Chuck) of Brooklin, ON. Survived also by his 8 grandchildren and 3 great-grandchildren. Predeceased by his parents and four brothers. Ray will be sadly missed by his family and friends especially his good friends Wendy, whom he enjoyed daily crib games. His enthusiasm and enjoyment of life allowed him to make many friends throughout his life time. Arrangements were entrusted to The Westford Chapel. Cremation. His ashes will be buried at a later date in Kempville, ON where his parents lay.

POSTER, Robert (Bob) 2008-05-20 Mr. Robert (Bob) Poster aged 58 Years of 619 Castlegreen Drive, Thunder Bay, Ontario passed away on Wednesday, May 14, 2008 at Ottawa Hospital General Campus; after a lenghty illness, in the arms of his wife Laura. Bob was born on May 26, 1949 in Geraldton, Ontario, 7th son of Mike and Mable Poster. He attended local schools and went on to follow his father and brothers in the McLeod Cockshutt Mine in Geraldton. He attended Con College and left to work in Manitouwadge’s Wilroy Mine, when that mine closed he came to the Lakehead to work at Shebandowan Mine for Patty Harrison. Bob returned to Manitouwadge to work at the Noranda Mine Geco Division where he was employed until an automobile accident in 1972 would change his life forever. Bob was left paralized from the shoulders down. He was stubborn and determined man, who fought through adversity and worked to make the best of a bad situation. In the fall of 1973, Dad would meet the future Mrs. Poster. On July 12, 1975 he would wed Laura and adopt her children Dwayne and Darcy. He returned to Lakehead University to gain a degree in electronics engineering but health issues forced him to change his plans. He graduated from Confederation College with a diploma in Electronics Technician not what he wanted but it was for his family. Dad loved to camp and garden. His projects always included his children or grandkids. One of his projects was a cement and rock barbecue/firepit that he build mostly on his head. Dad would find his true calling when his first grandson Richard was born and made him a proud Papa. Next came Logan another grandson for Dad. Logan and dad shared a very close relationship. Along came Darryl a tiny little peanut for Papa. Always special because of the fight he put up to stay in this world. Dad would be devistated at his passing at age 16 from cancer. It just wasn’t fair he would say. Derek was the next grandchild for Bob, then Darcy would add Joshua another grandson. Bob was always wondering if he would ever get a granddaugher and his wish came true with Kallie, a little princess for Papa. Dad would always have time for his grandkids. Baking, barbecuing and building Pizza’s. The boys always wanted to go to Papa’s. Bob is survived by his wife of 33 years, Laura, Sons, Dwayne (Rose-Mae), Darcy (Emilia), grandchildren Richard, Logan, Derek, Joshua and Kallie. Also surviving are his mother Mabel, sisters Dorothy (Gordon) McKenzie, Sophie Albert. Brothers Ted (Lena) of Manitouwadge. Gary (Gwen) Hamilton, Neil (Bonnie) Manitouwadge, Ronald (Sandra), David (Rachel) also surviving is Uncle Herman and Aunt Wanda Aube. Numerous nieces, nephews and other relatives survive. He was predeceased by his father Mike, in-laws Lauri and Rose Wiitamaki, sisters Joanie, Margaret Jonas, brother Raymond, Arnold, Richard, John and Donald and in 2003 his peanut Darryl. At Dad’s request cremation has taken place and there will be a Celebration of the Life of Robert Poster held at the Castlegreen Community Centre on Saturday May 24, 2008 at 1:00 pm with coffee and light lunch to follow. In lieu of flowers donations to Ronald McDonald House or Sunshine Dreams for Kids would be appreciated.

ELLIOTT, Colleen Therese 65, Truro, passed away surrounded by family at the Colchester Regional Hospital on May 17, 2008, after a short but truly brave battle with kidney cancer. Nurse Colleen spent more than 30 years as a truly remarkable caregiver — predominantly for seniors. She recently retired from the Mira Long Term Care Center in Truro, where she considered the staff and residents part of her extended family. Colleen earned her nursing degree from St. Joseph’s Hospital in Toronto, and always looked forward to the reunions, where she could catch up with her former college mates. As a young girl growing up with a father (the late Quintin Gleeson) in the Canadian Armed Forces, Colleen travelled the world and learned the value of contributing to a better society. While her family was stationed at 2 Wing Air Force Base, Grostenquin, France, Colleen showed at an early age her talents as a leader. She was one of a select few chosen to participate in a combined Girl Guide/Boy Scout World Jamboree in Edinburgh, Scotland. She also earned her Girl Guide Gold Cord (later known as the Canada Cord); and as an adult, Colleen spent time as a Girl Guide commissioner in Oshawa, Ontario. Colleen’s gentle, thoughtful and endearing ways will be sadly missed by her mother, Mary (Whiteley) Gleeson, and her younger sister, Catherine (Ralph Kralic) Cathcart, all of Brampton, Ont. Also taking Colleen’s wonderful spirit into their hearts are husband, John Elliott, son Brendan (Audra) Elliott of Stratford, P.E.I., and daughter Theresa (John) Ferris of Guelph, Ont. Colleen also had a unique connection with her two grandchildren, Josh Elliott and Izak Ferris. Josh and Izak always looked forward to visits from their Nana, and the mysterious goodies she would always have for them in her ‘magic suitcase’. Colleen never missed a special occasion for any of her dear nephews (Tim and Greg Cathcart), or her precious niece, Sarah Cathcart. On one of Colleen’s final days, a local provincial MLA presented Colleen with a resolution he read on the floor of the legislature, marking her lifelong accomplishments within the field of cancer research, education, prevention and palliative care. During that presentation, Colleen was asked if there was anything she hadn’t accomplished within the Canadian Cancer Society. And quite remarkably, the evidence clearly shows Colleen had participated in or touched just about every corner of the Canadian Cancer Society.

Margaret Mae (Farrer) Cail Margaret Mae (Farrer) Cail, 81, of Riverview, with her daughters at her side, passed away peacefully at the Dr. Georges L. Dumont Hospital, Moncton, on Saturday, May 17, 2008. Born in Moncton, she was the daughter of the late Leslie and Amanda (Spencer) Roberts. Mae was retired from the Moncton Hospital and was former house mother at the Moncton Hospital Nurses Residence. She was a member of St. John The Baptist Anglican Church, Riverview and enjoyed walking, gardening, bird watching, cooking but first and foremost she was a devoted wife and mother to her children and she cherished her time with her grandchildren, great grandchildren and beloved loyal companion, Benji. BOUDREAU, Joseph Paul Lorenzo (Zoe) 2008-05-20 Mr. Joseph Paul Lorenzo (Zoe) Boudreau, 81 years, Duncan, BC, formerly of Red Rock, ON passed away peacefully at his daughter‘s residence on May 16th, with his family at his side. Lorenzo was employed by Domtar Ltd. in Red Rock before his retirement in 1990. Zoe and Rita moved to lovely Duncan, BC where he lived out the rest of his days with the love and care of his eldest daughter and son. He was a member of the Knights of Columbus Council #4247 Red Rock and a member of the Royal Canadian Legion, Branch 226. Predeceased by his parents Francis and Clothilde Boudreau, stepmother Marie Cyr, siblings, Corrinne Cloukey, Sylvester, Fernand, Roger, Martha Duplante, Marie Bursey, and Georgette Roussie, and his youngest son, Real (1989). He very seldom missed a community dance where he danced well into the early hours, usually the last to leave. For the many friends and family of Zoe, his inviting smile, infectious laugh and good natured spirit will truly be missed. According to Lorenzo‘s wishes, a funeral mass was held in Duncan, BC followed by cremation in Victoria, BC. A memorial service celebrating the life of Lorenzo (Zoe) will be held on Saturday May, 24th, 2008 at 11:00 a.m. at St. Hilary‘s Catholic Church in Red Rock, ON with Father R. Morriseau officiating. A reception will follow at the Red Rock Royal Canadian Legion, Branch 226. A private family gathering for interment alongside his son Real will take place at Cliffside Cemetery, Nipigon, ON. at a later time. O'GRADY, M. James "Jim" BORN: July 25, 1936, Timmins, Ontario It is with profound sadness that we announce the sudden death of the beloved husband of Helen Alexiade O'Grady and cherished father of James (Jamey) O'Grady. His devotion to our small family was surpassed only by his generous spirit which will always be with us. Jim was loved and respected as a brother by Colleen (Lawrence Dumville), Faye (Don Kuiak) and Ken (Marlene Binnie). He was pre-deceased by his parents Mary Redmond and Harold and by his brother Terry. He was loved as a brother-in-law by Maria and Tasso Karkazis, Ariadne and Howard Gribble and Anne Notof; and as an uncle to many from Ontario, Alberta, British Columbia and California. Born in Timmins Ontario in 1936, Jim grew up in Rouyn-Noranda, Quebec. He was both a star athlete and an outstanding student in his youth, winning the All-Ontario Midget AAA Championship with the Noranda Toilers in 1951-52. He enjoyed full scholarships to Queen's University, Arts '57 and Law '61 and was awarded a Viscount Bennett Scholarship to The Harvard Law School (LL.M. '63). Before starting his legal practice, Jim was the Special Assistant to the Solicitor General of Canada, the Honourable Larry Pennel. For 46 years he practiced law in Ottawa with Solway, Wright, Houston, Greenberg, O'Grady & Morin and O'Grady & Associate. At the time of his death he was practicing with the firm of Burke-Robertson. In 1998 he was elected a Fellow of The American College of Trial Lawyers. His career as a lawyer was characterized by the highest standards of professionalism, respect for those in need and unwavering dedication to his chosen profession. His service to the community included the office of President of the Consumer's Association of Canada and a member of the Executive Committee of the International Organization of Consumer's Unions. He was a member of the International Ice Hockey Federation Board of Arbitration. Jim's love of hockey was legendary including over 15 years as a coach in the Nepean Minor Hockey Association and a lifetime of preparation for the NHL. Friends are invited to visit at the Central Chapel of Hulse, Playfair & McGarry, 315 McLeod Street, Ottawa on Thursday May 22, 2008, from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 pm.
