ROBINSON , Garnet Nelson - In loving memory of Garnet Robinson in his 87th year, passed away peacefully with his family by his side on Wednesday May 14th , 2008 at Manitoulin Health Center, Little Current. Beloved husband of Alice Robinson (nee Moreau) . Survived by sisters Audrey Bolduc of Chapleau Ont, Verlie Umpherson of Gore Bay Ont. Predeceased by brothers Donald and Mansel Robinson, sisters Elsie Vaiu and Leitha Pellow. Loving father of Sandra Koehler (husband Bill) , Jennifer Kategiannis (husband Peter) both of Little Current, Donald Robinson ( friend Donna Gillis) of Thunder Bay ,Ont. Adoring Grandfather of Jason Koehler ( wife Gillian) Little Current, Catherine Koehler ( Ottawa Ont.) Alexander and Zackery Kategiannis ( Little Current). Special Great Grandfather of Sydney and Jack Koehler ( Little Current). Survived by numerous nieces and nephews. Garnet was born and raised in Chapleau Ont. He worked as a brakeman for the CPR. He also owned and operated the Kenogami Hunting and Fishing Lodge in Nemegos Ont for nearly twenty enjoyable years. Garnet and his family also lived in Thunder Bay Ont from 1964 until moving to Manitoulin Island in 1985; where he remained until his passing. Garnet shared the love of the outdoors and the wilderness with is children. As a young man, he loved to hunt and fish and play his fiddle. In his later years, he was an avid hockey fan and also enjoyed playing the stock market. Garnet will always be remembered as a man who thrived on hard work, had a keen sense of humour and enjoyed being surrounded by his loved ones. Cremation has taken place care by ISLAND FUNERAL HOME and a service honoring his memory will be forthcoming at a later date to be announced. Peacefully at Scarborough General Hospital on Wednesday, May 14th, 2008. Edna Florence Long of Scarborough and formerly of R.R. #3 Trenton (Glen Miller) in her 88th year. Beloved wife of the late Harry Joseph Long. Loving mother of Lynda Hurley and her husband Paul and Susan Long and her husband Peter Sims, all of Toronto. BRENNAN, Pauline (nee Schrieder)- December 24, 1924 - May 14, 2008 - Passed away at KGH May 14 with her daughter Pat by her side. Pauline was born in Belleville, Ontario and moved to Kelowna BC to enjoy the golden years of her life. She was the President of the Water Street Senior Centre, where she enjoyed meeting all of the seniors that came to play bridge and socialize. She was an avid volunteer at the Snackery at KGH. She also set up the bridge games and coffee at Club 17 two days a week, up until two days before she was called to a better place. She is predeceased by her husband Patrick, and survived by her daughters Pat Loewen (Byron) and Sister Dianne Brennen of Edmonton, AB, and by her granddaughters Paula and Panthea Trisha. Pauline asked that her final resting place be Belleville, so she can look out on the Bay of Quinte, where she spent the beginning of her life's journey. 11092646

BERDUSCO, Rino Antonio - Passed away at the Douglas Memorial Hospital in Fort Erie on May 12, 2008. He was born on January 11, 1927 in Altivole, Treviso, Italy and was the son of Luigi Berdusco and Adelina (Carolina) Zilio. Rino immigrated to Canada in 1951 and worked at Hart and Cooley, Fleet Industries and for 27 years at Irvin Industries until his retirement. On January 24, 1957, he married in Italy Graziella (Dal Bello) who was his wife for 51 years and she will sadly feel his loss. Rino was the proud grandfather of Stefanie and Andrew Pace. He will be deeply missed by his daughter Caroline and son-in-law Gaetano (Guy) Pace. In Italy, Rino is survived by three sisters, a brother and many nieces and nephews. The comfort and care provided by Dr. Gleeson and the first floor staff of Douglas Memorial Hospital will never be forgotten by the family. The FORT ERIE CHAPEL of the DAVIDSON FUNERAL HOMES, 21 Wintemute St. was entrusted with arrangements. A private memorial service was held on May 15, 2008 followed by entombment at Fairview Mausoleum. McNAMARA, Charles “Charlie“ Matthew Frank, April 1, 1933-May 13, 2008 - Passed away peacefully with grace and dignity at Oakville Trafalgar Memorial Hospital. He will be lovingly remembered and greatly missed by his beloved and devoted wife of 51 years, Gloria (nee Phillips) and his much adored and adoring children, Kevin (Jeanette), Patrick (Sue), and Shawn (Leslie). Charlie was the proudest and dearest grandfather (Papa) to “Charlie's Angels“, Shaughnessy, Natasha, Sara, Felicity, Ryan, Charlie II and Kyle. He is survived by his brother and good buddy, Michael (Judith); predeceased by his parents, Catherine and Alymer; sister Joan (Al) and brother Paul. Charlie will be sadly missed by his nieces and nephews as well as the many young and old friends whom he was always “Papa Charlie“. He had a large extended family of loving friends and respected colleagues. Charlie was born in Toronto and raised in Welland, Ontario where his entrepreneurial spirit was born and nourished. Charlie enjoyed a long and successful career in the fashion footwear industry. Upon his retirement, his life-long love of golf led to marshaling along with summer escapes to the Rideau Lake to indulge in his passion for fishing. CAMPBELL, Rose Marie (nee Cherri) - Born August 30, 1935. Passed away suddenly in her home May 15, 2008 in her 73rd year. Loving wife of Arthur for 52 wonderful years. Beloved mother of Bob (Helena) and Ron (Christine). Predeceased by her son Gary (June 2004). Cherished grandmother of Christopher, Elizabeth, Amanda, Patrick, Andrew, Tony, Michael and Julia. Sister of Frank (Jennifer) Cherri and Nick (Teresa) Cherri. Sadly missed by her many nieces and nephews. Predeceased by her father Domenic Cherri and her mother Jeanette Falsetto and stepmother Sarah Cherri. Rose was a lifelong resident of the Galt community and a faithful member of St. Gregory's Parish and of the CWL for 55 years. She was active up to her final moments and we were all amazed by her endless energy. Rose kept her family and friends close to her heart. LAFLAMME, Jean – We are saddened to announce the passing of Jean Laflamme (nee Waugh) on May 15, 2008 after a courageous battle with cancer. ROZON, Mauree (née Hayes) de Bourget, ON est décédée le jeudi 15 mai 2008, à l'âge de 66 ans. Elle était la chère épouse de Marcel Rozon et la fille de Marion Bradley et de feu Michael Hayes. Elle laisse ses enfants: Richard, William (Currie), Theresa (Brian) et Gary (Lyne); ses petits-enfants: Marie-Ève, Jessica, Julian, Daniel, Nathalie, Ross et Jude; son arrière-petit-fils Samuel et deux autres arrière-petits-enfants à venir. Elle laisse également sa soeur Geraldine (Rich) ainsi que plusieurs beaux-frères, belles-soeurs, neveux, nièces et amis. Elle fut prédécédée par son frère Brian et sa soeur Kathy. La famille désire remercier les infirmières de l'urgence de l'hôpital Montfort pour leurs bons soins et compassion. BECKER, Ed (Bug Doc) Edward Becker was born on March 15th, 1923, and lived his early years in Williamsville, Missouri, coming to Canada in 1952. Better known to some as "Bug Doc", he passed away on May 13th, 2008 surrounded by his family. He is survived by his wife of 60 years: Martha Mae Elliott, daughters: Barbara (Dennis) Eliason, Marcia Gosse, Debra, Lynda (Lucien Groulx), Patricia (Mike McCorkell): grandchildren: Teresa (Don) Williams, Jeffrey Eliason, and Melanie Gosse. Predeceased by his son: Thomas Coulton. A former Marine, and Entomologist with many awards along the way, he was dedicated to his profession and even though he retired in 1980, he still went in to the office everyday. In 1972 Ed founded the CanaColl Foundation as an independent non-profit organization to promote research on the Canadian National Collection of Insects and related arthropods, where he was president since the beginning. As well he was an active member of his church having served in many capacities, however, the family always came first! Friends are invited to visit at the Central Chapel of Hulse, Playfair & McGarry, 315 McLeod Street on Thursday, May 22nd from 7 to 9 pm and on Friday, May 23rd at Rideau Park United Church, 2203 Alta Vista Drive from 12noon until 1pm , followed by a service to celebrate Ed Becker's life at 1pm. CLARKE, John "Jack" Passed away Tuesday, May 13, 2008 in his 93d year. Devoted husband for almost 60 years of Lois (Shields). Loving father of Michael, Ann, Don and Joan (deceased). Jack is greatly missed by his children's spouses, by his grandchildren Megan and Kendra Clarke, by his sole surviving sister, Lorna Kelly, and his many friends. He was the son of Michael and Anastasia (McDonald) Clarke and is predeceased by his sisters, Julia, Lillian, Anastasia, Margaret, and Helena. He will be fondly remembered by an extensive family of in-laws, nieces, nephews and cousins. Jack was born in Fallowfield, Ontario, served overseas in the Army during the WWII, and worked many years with the Department of Veterans' Affairs in Ottawa. He was the recipient of the Canada Medal for his service to the country. The family thanks the devoted staff of the West End Villa, Ottawa and Red Woods Retirement Home. GARROD, Patricia Queenie Lily (nee Kent) On February 23, 2008, at the age of 87 years, Patricia Queenie Lily Garrod passed away at Laurier Manor in Ottawa. Beloved wife of the late Robert Arthur Garrod. Loving mother of Howard (Nancy) of Stirling, Ontario and Roger (Helen) of Springfield (Oakbank), Manitoba. Cherished grandmother of Michael and Adam. Born near Leyton (London) England, Patricia married Robert just days before he went to war. Never knowing for two years whether she had lost Robert, after four years he returned home. They started a family and then a new life in Aldeburgh, Suffolk. She brought her sons to Canada in 1954, after Robert was settled in Edmonton with a new occupation. Having lived in many cities across the Canada, Patricia has many dear friends from coast to coast. Flowers were her enjoyment, and the love of family and friends her dedication. Friends are invited to attend a Memorial Service at the Central Chapel of Hulse, Playfair & McGarry, 315 McLeod Street, Ottawa, on Saturday, May 24th at 11:30am. Reception to follow. HATTON, Marion Eleanor April 8, 1919 - May 6, 2008 It is with great sadness we announce that Marion passed away peacefully after a courageous battle in hospital care. Marion was predeceased by her husband Lew, sister Gene, brother Ronald, niece Nancy, and nephew Roger. Marion will be lovingly remembered by Renee (Bob, Colin, Jennifer) Blackwell; Karen (Blair, Cory, Sean) Collins; Brad (Sarah, Philip, Kevin) Williams; Barb (Zachary) Reynolds and cousin Barb Yablonski and many lifelong friends who brought her immense joy. Marion spent her early years in the Langley and Vancouver areas and later resided in Ottawa with her husband until his retirement. She was living in Victoria when she passed away. Among Marion's numerous talents she was a gifted florist and artist and she loved to travel around the world. She enjoyed books, music, entertaining and Marion volunteered as a fundraising chairperson for charitable organizations and served on various strata councils. Marion was renowned for her passion towards worthwhile environmental causes. She proudly provided background information and family photos for a book on the history of Ft. Langley. The younger members of her family always remarked on her adventuresome spirit and she provided unconditional support for all our endeavours. Our heartfelt thanks to Dr. Derek Carroll for his respectful care, the medical teams at Royal Jubilee and Gorge Rd. Hospitals, her supportive and devoted friend Jane Henderson, the kind staff at Somerset House and to the many friends who came to visit her in the hospital. No funeral by request. KILGOUR, MariGayl (Lanctot) Born in Ottawa, Ont., January 11, 1946 and died in Victoria, B.C. on May 14, 2008 after a short battle with cancer. Predeceased by father, Gilbert Kilgour in 1995 and her mother, Mary Kilgour in October 2007. Dear sister of Garry (Lynn) Kilgour, and beloved mother of Andrea Lanctot and aunt to Amie, Dan and Kimberly Kilgour. She is also survived by many aunts, uncles and cousins both in the Ottawa area and Charlottetown, P.E.I. As the daughter of a member of the Armed Forces, she grew up in several areas of Canada and overseas in France. After schooling in Quebec, MariGayl, went to Ottawa where she worked for the Federal Government, retiring in 1996 from the position of Director General of Communications for the Employment Insurance Commission. MariGayl then moved to Victoria to join her mother and brother already living here. She enjoyed working for the CNIB, B.C. Legislature and the University of Victoria over the last 13 years. She was also a volunteer editor for the B.C. Arthritis Society newsletter. MariGayl was a member of the First Metropolitan United Church and enjoyed singing in the choir over the years. She developed an interest in kayaking and opera and was an avid reader. Friends and former coworkers will remember MariGayl's thoughtfulness toward others, her intelligence and good sense of humour. The family would like to thank the staff at Royal Jubilee Hospice for their kind care in MariGayl's final hours. MariGayl was a joy to be around and will be sadly missed by all those whose life she touched. CODE, Mildred Louise April 6, 1920 - May 15, 2008 Mildred died peacefully at the Foothills Hospital after a lengthy illness which she faced with her resilient nature. She was cared for by her devoted husband, Clark, giving back the love that he had from her. Mildred was an "old school" Mom who lovingly raised four sons, managed the family duties and handled a career all the while. She was a country girl in the city, the eldest of a large farm family, and returns to her roots and family, in Irma, Alberta for her deserved rest. Mildred joins her first husband, the late Tom Foulkes in lasting peace. She will be sadly missed by her sons, Don Foulkes (Sharon), David Foulkes, Doug Foulkes (Sandy) and Blair Code (Marlee); her grandchildren, great-grandchildren and sisters and brothers. HOWATSON, Joan Donalda April 9, 1917 - May 14, 2008 On Wednesday, May 14, 2008, Joan Howatson of Edmonton passed away peacefully at the age of 91 years. Left to mourn her loss are her nephew, Donald (Delores) Hendrickson; grandnieces, Laura (Brent) Pederson; Carmen Hendrickson; grandnephew, David Hendrickson; great-grandniece, Nicole Pederson; and great-grandnephews Curtis and Thomas Pederson. Joan was born April 9, 1917 in Vancouver, B.C. then spent her early adult years in Calgary graduating in 1940 with her Registered Nursing Diploma. After working for five years, Joan answered a calling and moved to Seattle, Washington to nurse there due to staffing shortages during and following the war and stayed for twenty years. She finally returned home to Calgary, to care for her aging mother and nursed in the Calgary General Hospital until her retirement. In keeping with Joan's wishes Cremation will take place with a private family Interment in Calgary at a later date. RITCHIE, Vyrona Grace March 30, 1922 - May 13, 2008 Vyrona Grace Ritchie went home to be with the Lord on Tuesday, May 13, 2008, at the age of 86. Vyrona devoted her time and love to her family, her garden, and her dogs Sassy and Katie. She is lovingly remembered by her children, Craig (Deanna) Ritchie, Brian Ritchie, and Linda (Wally) Gallash; grandchildren, Tammy Stuschnoff, Dana Ritchie, Lisa Eckstrand, Michael Ritchie, Paula Carrie, and Jacy Gallash; eleven great-grandchildren; her special friend and sister-in-law Clarice Mann; and nieces, nephews and close friends, all of whom brought her great joy.
