POWELL, June Graham - 1938-2008 - Passed away May 3rd at Royal Victoria Hospital, surrounded by her family. After a lengthy illness leaves behind her loving and dedicated husband Ken of 50 years, son Brian, daughters Wendy, Lesley and Lisa, her four grandchildren, brother Nat Graham, cousin Roberta Faetz and many relatives in Canada, Scotland and England. CHAMBERS, Robert Karl at the Greater Niagara General Hospital on Sunday May 4, 2008. Robert (Bob) Chambers, beloved husband of Emma and loving father of Kent (Michelle) and Alison (Greig) MacLean. Much loved grandfather of Evan, Amy, Heather and Gillian and dear twin brother of Bill (Maggie) and dear brother of Barbara Marriott and Donald (Elizabeth. Born in Edinburgh, Scotland January 23, 1935, Mr. Chambers lived in the area all of his life. He was employed with Horton C.B.I. until his retirement. He was a member of the Chippawa Presbyterian Church and was actively involved with the Willoughby Historical Society, Bert Miller Nature Club, March of Dimes Designability Group and was involved in the scouting movement for over 39 years. REYNOLDS, William Henry - Passed away peacefully in his 87th year on Sunday, May 4, 2008 at St. Catharines General Hospital. Predeceased in 2001 by Rheta, his loving wife of 57 years. Bill is survived by his three children, Judy McBride, Robert (husband of Beth) and Bill (husband of Laura Lind); seven grandchildren (Mandy, Matthew, Jennifer, Rob, Scott, Darren and Justine), and six great grandchildren (Tyler, Ella, Will, Linnaea, Alexis and Madeline). Bill grew up in Oshawa, Toronto and St. Catharines, and found permanent employment at McKinnon Industries, which became General Motors. He was a Second World War airforce co-pilot, and after the war, a tool designer and then process engineer. He had a love for numbers and wordplay, and was a sly and accomplished bridge player. He also had a golf swing only Arnold Palmer could love. Bill was an understanding father and husband, a dear neighbour and a dedicated contributor to his community. To the very end he maintained his dry sense of humour. The family would like to thank the doctors and nurses at Hamilton East General and St. Catharines General who cared for Bill during his final months. At Bill's request, cremation has taken place. DOAN, Edgar of Northland Pointe died at the Port Colborne General Hospital on Monday May 5, 2008 at the age of 86 years after a brief illness. Beloved husband of Marion, loving father of Marshall (Linda) Doan of Port Colborne, dear grandfather of Marshall (Lisa) Doan, Jennifer (Mark) Stocco, Sheree (Jeff) Richard all of Port Colborne, great grandfather of Brittany, Thomas, Andrew, Elly, Taylor and Sophie, brother of Evelyn Campbell of Port Colborne, uncle of Doug (Mary) Andrews, Marilyn (Maurice) Pilon, Terrie (Tom) Nantais and Lois Campbell. Also survived by several great nieces and great nephews, great great nieces and great great nephews. Edgar was predeceased by his first wife Audrey, his second wife Thelma, his daughter Linda Doan and his son Lynn Doan and his parents Lloyd and Edna Doan. He served with the Royal Canadian Navy during World War II and enjoyed seeing many parts of the world. He retired from Erco after 25 years. Edgar was a life member of MacNab Lodge #169 A.F. & A.M. He coached minor hockey and minor baseball in Humberstone Township. He enjoyed gardening, fishing, music, especially playing the harmonica and guitar, the race track and slots. CORNFOOT, Phyllis Leona Avery - It is with heavy hearts and a wealth of wonderful memories our family announces the death of a most beautiful woman, our mother, grandmother and great grandmother at the Norcliffe Lifecare Centre, Hagersville on Monday, May 5, 2008 in her 93rd year. Much loved mother of Carol, Donald and Howard and mother-in-law of Leslie and Honey. Devoted grandmother to Jennifer, Meredith, Jodi, Allison, Victoria, Terri, Scott, Abby and Jay. Great grandmother of 14 beautiful great grandchildren. Phyllis gave the gentleness of her heart to everyone around her, a true lady, gracious, kind and compassionate. She was born in Toronto and lived in Trenton and Gananoque before coming to Brantford to begin training as a nurse. Graduating in 1936 she was employed in the community in private duty. In 1941 she married Lorne B. Cornfoot building their home on Terrace Hill Street and living there for 50 years until illness necessitated re-location. In 1960 Phyllis returned to nursing and again enjoyed this profession as a private duty nurse and general duty evening supervisor at the John Noble Home. She had life long interests in music, reading, bridge, and riding horses with her husband. Phyllis found great comfort in her church and faith. She was predeceased by her husband (1994), her brother William Avery, sons-in-law Frederick Rhodes and Jaffray Rolph and great grandson Mason. With strength, courage and dignity Phyllis struggled with the ravages of Dementia/Alzheimer's disease for twenty years. Her family will be forever encouraged and inspired by her love. Our sincere appreciation goes to the second floor staff at Norcliffe Lifecare Centre for their loving care of Phyllis during this difficult stage in life. Our thanks also to Dr. P. DAVIS, Helen Nadine (nee Maclean) - On Saturday, 26 April 2008, Helen was reunited with her beloved husband Richard “Dick“ Davis. They are both sorely missed by their daughter Anne, who now understands for the first time what it means to be “lonely“. Joining Anne in her recent grief are Helen's sister Grace, brother-in-law Bill and nieces and nephew: Debra, Willie, Cathy, Nancy. Helen, born in Kingston, was a graduate of Queen's University and a former member of the Fort Henry Guard. She moved to Toronto, after a year teaching on a reserve, and joined the Metropolitan Toronto Police (PCF 21) at a time few women were on the force. Six years later, just prior to the birth of her daughter, she left the force to pursue other interests. Helen loved travel, excitement, sunshine, gatherings with family and friends, theatre, shoes, swimming, good food, shopping at Tilley and the thrill of the races or casino (not necessarily in this order - shoes should probably be closer to the top of the list). She felt strongly about justice, equality, manners, compassion, hard work and good penmanship. She had style, decorum and humour right to the end. A celebration of Helen's life has already been held in Scarborough, a brief ceremony will be held at the Maclean family plot in Cataraqui Cemetery at 2 p.m. on Thursday, May 8, 2008.
