MACLEAN, Jean Blair Peacefully on Friday, April 25th 2008 at the age of 92. Predeceased by her parents George Ann Blair and Neil Angus MacLean; her three sisters Catherine MacLean, Ethel Cameron (Eddie), and Elva Radbourne (Art); as well as her beloved niece Nancy Jean MacLean Radbourne Clarke to whom she was very close. Keeping her memory alive are her great-nieces Megan and Kendra Clarke and their father Michael, as well as dear relatives and friends. Jean was a long-time member of Erskine Presbyterian Church. A special thanks to the caring staff at the Glebe Centre in Ottawa for the many years of wonderful care they provided her. Friends are invited to visit at the West Chapel of Hulse, Playfair & McGarry, 150 Woodroffe Avenue (at Richmond Road) on Tuesday, May 6th, 2008 from 11:00am until time of service in the chapel at 1:00pm. PEWS, Carol (nee McLuskey) 1962 - 2008 It is with broken hearts that we announce the passing of Carol Pews, beloved wife of Thomas Pews of Lethbridge, AB, at home on Monday, April 28, 2008, at the age of 45 years. Carol will be lovingly remembered by her husband, Tom of Lethbridge; thirteen year old son Patrick (her ray of sunshine); her devoted mother Winnie McLuskey of Calgary; brother Andrew (Cari) McLuskey and niece and nephew, Abby and Aidan. She is also survived by her extended family and numerous relatives and friends throughout Canada, England and Scotland. She was predeceased by her father Andrew McLuskey. Carol was born in Glasgow, Scotland on December 20, 1962 and came to Calgary in August 1972. She married Tom in August 1988 and they were blessed with the gift of their son Patrick in 1995. They were very happy and in love. Carol suffered many trials and tribulations throughout her life and never complained. She was an example of bravery to us all. We have been robbed of her light far too soon. POTTER, Donald Don passed away peacefully with his family by his side at the Royal Jubilee Hospital, on April 25, 2008 at the age of 80. Don was born in Calgary, Alberta in 1927, moved to Victoria in 1998. He will be sadly missed by his wife Chris of fifty-three years, his two daughters Dalyce Binette of Victoria and Kim Potter of Calgary, and by his precious grandchildren Drew and Candice Binette of Victoria. THORNDYKE, Josephine (nee Aldous) November 27, 1915 - April 29, 2008 It is with great sadness that our family announces the passing of Josephine Thorndyke at Agape Hospice on Tuesday, April 29, 2008 at the age of 92 years. Josephine was born in Piapot, SK and moved to Calgary with her family at a young age. She was the youngest of thirteen predeceased siblings. Josephine worked the majority of her adulthood for a law firm in Calgary and enjoyed both family and friends during her lengthy life. Josephine is survived by her son and daughter-in-law, Dennis and Sharon (Sherri) Thorndyke; three grandchildren: Brian, Tammy and Rob; two great-grandchildren: Feenie and Jack (Rob's children); and Brian and Rob's mother Carol Thorndyke. Josephine was predeceased by her husband Harold and their first-born son Gerry. Josephine's request to not have a Funeral Service or Memorial Gathering will be honored. FRETZ, Walter Milton - Passed away Tuesday April 29, 2008 at West Lincoln Memorial Hospital, Grimsby. Walter resided in Vineland and was born January 31, 1931. Walter was the son of the late Joseph & Martha (Reesor) Fretz. Beloved husband of Elaine (Jutzi) Fretz whom he married July 23, 1960. Dear father of Chris Fretz of Vineland. Walter will be remembered by sisters-in-law and brothers-in-law Beulah Fretz, Robert & Irene Jutzi, Nelda & Ray Brenneman, Ken & Joan Jutzi, Lucille & Bill Jantzi, Mark & Karen Jutzi, Grant Jutzi and John & Juanita Jutzi. Also remembered by many nieces and nephews. Walter was predeceased by brother John Fretz and by sisters Ruth Gingerich and Pauline & Clayton Cressman. Walter enjoyed genealogy as hobby and was the publisher of the Canadian Fretz Descendants Newsletter. He was also involved with the Vineland Public School Playground Committee. Hector Beaudoin After a courageous 14 year battle with cancer, Hector Beaudoin of New Liskeard died peacefully on April 18, 2008 at his home, surrounded by his loving family. He was born in St. Cecile de Mesham, Quebec, on September 1, 1934 and moved to Ontario at the age of ten. After living for several years in Uno Park, the family moved to New Liskeard where Mr. Beaudoin resided until his death. He is survived by his wife Alice (nee Stewart) whom he married in 1957; his daughter Rachel Maille (Gilbert) and son Bob Beaudoin (Sue); grandchildren Craig and Kristin Etmanski, Justin and Erica Maille, and Tyler and Ian Beaudoin; brother Lucien and sisters Lucille Beaudoin, Jean Carleton (Ed), Denise Bastien (Denis) and Claire Nardini; as well as many nieces and nephews and special pals Jerald and Dorothy Smith. Mr. Beaudoin was predeceased by his mother Jeanne, father Oscar, brother Andre and sister Mary-Claire. During his lifetime, Mr. Beaudoin was employed by the Department of Agriculture, Walter Little Transport and the Town of New Liskeard. He was also a member of Our Mother of Perpetual Help Church since its inception 50 years ago where he served as an usher for many years. A memorial mass was held at Our Mother of Perpetual Help on April 26 with Father John Lemire officiating, assisted by Father Pat Lafleur. Interment was held at the New Liskeard Catholic Cemetery. Raymond Martin "Ray" Rody Passed away on / Décédé(e) le April 29, 2008 We regret to announce the sudden death of Raymond Martin "Ray" Rody on Tuesday April 29 2008 at home at the age of 61 years. Ray is survived by his loving wife Linda Rody of Kapuskasing, 3 sons: Sean husband of Tanya of Kitchener, Christopher husband of Chantal of Kapuskasing, Michael of Toronto; 1 sister: Diane Mantha of North Bay; 4 brothers: Ronald Rody of Wawa, Martin Rody of Timmins, Patrick Rody of Ottawa, Robert Montgomery of Sudbury; 3 grandchildren: Ethan, Kaitlen, Danica and his stepfather William Montgomery of Cobalt. He was predeceased by his parents Aeneas and Mercedes Gauthier. Ray was a Paul Harris member with Rotary International and participated in many facets of Rotary including a recent trip to Jamaica for a wheelchair distribution. He was also a member of the Knights of Columbus, held a seat on the board of directors of Kapuskasing Economic Development Corporation, treasurer for the Conservative Party, and after retirement went to work for the Kapuskasing Disability Resource Center. In his spare time he enjoyed curling. He will be resting on Friday May 2 2008 from 2:00 p.m. - 4:00 p.m. and 7:00 p.m. - 9:00 p.m. The funeral service will be held on Saturday May 3 2008 at 10:30 a.m. the St.Patrick's Church, Kapuskasing with Father Fernand Villeneuve officiating. After a brief illness, Laurette Simpson died at the Temiskaming Hospital on April 22, 2008 at the age of 75. She was born in Judge, Ontario on January 20, 1933 to Paul and Yolande St. Onge. She loved the outdoors, especially fishing and gardening. She will be remembered as a fun loving person who made everyone feel welcome into her home. Mrs. Simpson was predeceased by her brother Jean St. Onge and grandson Peter Fnukal. She is survived by her loving husband Alfred Simpson formerly of North Cobalt; loving children Carol (and Robert) Fnukal of Kemptville, George Simpson of Ottawa, and Lynda (and Wayne) Dale of Orangeville; grandchildren Stephanie and Ivan; her sister Denise (and Roger) Maxwell; sister-in-law Claire St. Onge; and many nieces and nephews. B. Anna Spencer (Lovelace) 1918-2008 Hayesville, NB - Fredericton, NB Our mom, grandmother, great grandmother, passed away peacefully at her home, 690 Union Street on April 30, 2008. Mom was an avid reader, bread maker and gardener, who took great joy from her flowers which always flourished under the care of her two green thumbs. With Mom, family came first and she was always there for her sons, daughters and grandchildren, her door was always open. The first 20 years of her married life were spent working the family farm in Lincoln, NB, and the last 40, at 690, as it was affectionately called by all. Survived by her six children, Marilyn, Wayne (Laura) and Terry of Fredericton, Cheryl (Gordon) of Riverview, NB, Janice (Walter Langille) of Toronto, ON, and Garth of Tantallon, NS; grandchildren, Dean Spencer, Andrew Spencer of Fredericton, Jason and Chris Love of Riverview, Adam Love of Halifax, NS, Louis Hickey of Vancouver, BC; blessed with two great grandchildren, Spencer and Tyler Love of Dieppe, NB; sister, Lottie O'Donnell; and several nieces and nephews. BRECK, Alan William, Wing Commander, R.C.A.F. (Retired). October 2, 1922May 1, 2008 - peacefully at home in Peterborough, Ontario. Bill, third and youngest son of Major Thomas Graham Breck and Margaret Beryl McKechnie, predeceased by them and by his brothers, Leading Aircraftman Duncan Ewart Breck, R.C.A.F. (1941) and Dr. Wallace Graham Breck (2001). Survived by his wife Jean, son Ian Ewart Breck and his wife Kathy and granddaughters Erika, her husband Rémi and their daughter Chloe, Bridget and Elizabeth, step children John (2003), Andrew, Stephen, and Mary and many nieces and nephews. Predeceased by his first wife, Josephine Elizabeth Throop (1985). Bill joined the RC.A.F. in 1940 and served overseas as a pilot on 12 and 198 Squadrons, R.A.F., and 439 Squadron, R.C.A.F. After graduation from Queen's University in Metallurgical Engineering in 1950 he re-entered the R.C.A.F. as a technical armament officer, retiring in 1970. During his air force career, Bill attended the Massachusetts Institute of Technology (for two years), where he studied aeronautics and astronautics. He returned to Queen's as a law student, graduated in 1972 and was called to the Ontario bar in 1974. He practiced aviation law in Toronto and after retirement moved to his final home in Peterborough, Ontario. Cremation has occurred, family graveside service at a later date.
