Eileen Mary Schlosser, of Chesley, passed away at South Bruce Grey Health Centre, Chesley on Tuesday, April 29, 2008 in her 87th year. Beloved wife of the late Mike Schlosser. Loving sister of Betty Keck of Windsor. Cherished aunt of Sue, Sharon, Dianne, Tracy, Greg and Michael. Eileen is predeceased by her brothers Henry, Robert, Richard and Bernard (in infancy) and her parents Gregory and Alice (Sullivan) Kloepfer. Visitation was held at Cameron Funeral Home, Chesley on Thursday from 2-4 pm and 7-9 pm, with parish prayers at 3:45 pm. MORIN, ALBERT, 1926 - 2008 - Albert Morin of Aroostook passed away at Hotel Dieu of St. Joseph Hospital on April 30, 2008. Born in St-Andre, NB on March 8, 1926, he was the son of the late Cyrille and Methaide (Cyr) Morin. Albert leaves behind several nieces and nephews. Resting at Our Lady of Mercy Catholic Church in Aroostook with visitation on Friday 7 to 9 pm and on Saturday 12:30 to 2 pm. Arthur McGraw Pleasant Ridge - At the Miramichi Regional Hospital, on Thursday May 1st, 2008, passed away Arthur McGraw, 63 years, of Pleasant Ridge, husband of the late Angeline McGraw (February 2008). Born April 16th, 1945, he was the son of the late Edmond McGraw and the late Ida LeBlanc. Arthur will be sadly missed by her daughter, Joann (Mario) McGraw; three sons, Ricky (Tara), Kevin and Jamie all of Pleasant Ridge; three sisters, Jeannita (Art Dycken) of Moncton, Noëlla (Paul Lamarche) of Moncton and Bernadette (Ron Dowling) of Kingston, NS.; two brothers, Antoine (Maria Doiron) of Pleasant Ridge and Gérald (Odette Cormier) of Ste-Marie, NB ; one brother-in-law, Alcime (feu Anise) Daigle of Acadieville; nine grandchildren, Avery, Daniel, Rémi, Corey, Roxanne, Josée, Jacob, Hailey and Abigael; as well as many nieces, nephews and friends. Arthur was predeceased by one sister, Anise. The family will be receiving relatives and friends at the Salon 'La Colombe' 11325 rte 126, Rogersville this Friday, May 2nd, at 2 pm . The funeral service will be held at the Saint-Francois-de-Sales Roman Catholic Church in Rogersville, Saturday May 3rd, at 11 am. HENDERSON, FLORA Flora Henderson peacefully passed away on Sunday, April 27, 2008. She and her family moved to California from Minto, New Brunswick Canada in 1957. Flora worked as a hair dresser in the City of Orange, California for 35 years. She is preceded in death by her husband J. Keith Henderson and survived by her son Barry Henderson of Castro Valley, California; and two Grandsons, Steve Henderson of Northridge, California and Adam Henderson of Kirkland, Washington. A memorial service will not be held and contributions can be made to the American Cancer Society.

KEEDWELL, Verna M. January 7, 1915 - April 27, 2008 It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of our mother, Verna Keedwell, at the age of 93. She died peacefully in Calgary with her family by her side. Verna was born in Saskatoon before moving to Calgary in 1999 to be closer to her family. Verna graduated from Saskatoon's St. Paul's School of Nursing in 1936 and took an active role in organizations such as the Red Cross and Kinsmen Kinettes. She was predeceased by her husband, Allan in 1996. Verna is survived by her sons, Rod (Jean) and Wayne (Dianne); by her grandchildren, Jacinda, Tammy, Scott (Andrea) and Todd; and by her great-grandson, Rowan. A Graveside Memorial Service will be held this summer at the Woodlawn Cemetery in Saskatoon. WRAY, Evelyn - At age 90, Mrs. Evelyn Wray died peacefully in Northern Ireland on February 20, 2008. Born Mary Evelyn Trimble on October 27, 1917 in Portadown, Northern Ireland, Evelyn was the daughter of Robert and Elizabeth Trimble and sister of William. She attended Portadown College and then Belfast Academical Institute, from where she graduated with a teaching degree in Domestic Science. She married Robert Wray, a Presbyterian minister, in 1942 and their first home was the manse at Burt Presbyterian Church in County Donegal, Ireland. They remained there until 1950, when they emigrated to Australia and served in New South Wales until 1955. The couple returned to Portadown in 1955, when Evelyn's father died. Before the year was out, they moved to British Columbia to a church in Prince Rupert until 1956, and from there, served in Sooke for two years. The couple came to Ontario in 1958. During the next fifteen years, they ministered in Dorchester, South Nissouri, Rockway, North Pelham, and St. Catharines. Robert concluded his career at West St Andrew's Presbyterian Church, where he worked from 1977, until his retirement. Throughout her married life, Evelyn contributed to every community she joined as a high school teacher and minister's wife. She participated in the choirs and supported women's groups in every parish she and Robert led. After more than 40 years in the ministry, Robert Wray retired in June 1980. Shortly thereafter, he died at age 66, gardening at their St. Catharines' home. After the memorial, Evelyn moved into a condominium near Knox Presbyterian Church. She became involved in the church's “Out of the Cold” ministry, providing shelter and hot meals to the citys' homeless for many years. Gradually, she became an Elder, then an Elder Emeritus at Knox. After Evelyn retirement from Welland High School, she began to travel widely. Over the next few years she met with her late brother William and his wife Mary in Spain during the winter months. An avid reader, gardener and a dedicated teacher, Evelyn used her skills to benefit her friends and neighbours. She participated in a neighbourhood gardening society and book club and taught grammar and history to the children in her life. Although she and Robert never had children, Evelyn became the adopted grandmother to the granddaughters of her best friend, Isis Kelada, after her passing. Evelyn and Isis were travel companions for years and shared the same sharp humour and zest for life. They were quick-witted, adventuresome women who roamed all over the world together. When Isis died in 1990, Evelyn helped her daughter Sammy to raise two girls, Magdolene and Rosaline, then five and eight years old. She became an integral part of the Kelada family's daily life until she left Canada for the last time. In 1997, Evelyn started to spend her summers with Mary in Clogher, near Enniskillen. In 1999, she decided to buy a house there to reconnect with her family and enjoy the gentler summer climate. After 2006, Evelyn's declining health prevented her from returning to her home in St. Catharines. In Northern Ireland, she eventually moved to Colorado Residential Home, then Gortacharn Nursing Home, where she was surrounded by her loving family, until the last moments of her life. Evelyn was cremated in Northern Ireland and put to rest in the family grave in Portadown. She leaves behind her loving nephews and niece, Robert, John, William, Richard and Elizabeth. Evelyn's friends and family remember her with love and will celebrate her life at a memorial service at Knox Presbyterian Church on Saturday, May 10th 2008 at 11:00 a.m. We invite you to join with us for the memorial service followed by a reception. 11054874

LAVELL, Sister Anna Maureen Marion Bernadette Lavell a Grey Sister of the Immaculate Conception, Pembroke, Ontario died at the Ottawa General Hospital on the 1st day of May, 2008 at the age of 89 years in the 71st year of her Religious Life. Left to mourn are the members of her religious community, sisters, Kathleen Spotswood, Florence Dervin and Teresa Roos, brothers, Thomas and Peter Jr. (Audrey), nieces and nephews. Predeceased by parents Peter J. and Maude Mary (Burke), sisters, Dorothy Lavell and Alice Cosgrove, brothers, Bernard and Harry. Sister Anna Maureen was born in Mayo, Quebec on January 4th, 1919. She entered the Community on September 8th, 1938, pronouncing final vows on August 5th, 1943. Her ministry involved the care of orphan girls at St. Patrick's Home, Ottawa, Food Supervision in Convents and institutions, including Windsor, Ottawa, St. Joseph's Hospital, Lestock, Sk., Pembroke and the Penetang General Hospital. She served for a total of thirty-three years in Food Supervision. Other ministries included care of residents at St. Patrick's Home and as Pastoral Care Assistant at the Penetang General for fifteen years. Her final retirement years were lived at St. Patrick's Home. Born in Kfarmishky, Lebanon on April 24th, 1924, Dad moved to Ottawa as a young boy and remained there for the rest of his life. The youngest son of the family, Dad was known for his mischievous humour and stubbornness. With age though, Dad became more thoughtful and caring with his family. Northdale Manor resident Evelyn Francis McCuaig died April 23, 2008 at the Temiskaming Hospital after a battle with cancer. She was born in Englehart on March 10, 1921 to Francis Bernard Preston and Jesse May Burling. Educated in Englehart, she married Max McCuaig in Toronto. Mrs. McCuaig was a homemaker, a loving wife and mother. She was a volunteer for 15 years at the Temiskaming Hospital and also served at St. John’s Anglican Church and the Royal Canadian Legion Branch 54. At Branch 54 she served as president of the Ladies’ Auxiliary from 1986-90 and was also the first vice president and the second vice president and deputy Zone Commander up to 1995 under Commander Flo Salisbury. Mrs. McCuaig worked for many years at the Empire Theatre where she was affectionately known as “the popcorn lady.” Mrs. McCuaig was predeceased by her husband Max on May 8, 1983 and by her brother Doug Preston. She is survived by her children Richard (Leona), Ron (Sandie), Valerie (Gary Walters), Laurie (Richard Leveille) and Merry Lee (Mike Larocke); sisters Marion Smith and Joan Fortier; nine grandchildren and 15 great-grandchildren. The funeral was arranged by Perrin Funeral Chapel in New Liskeard with the service conducted by Reverend Linda White at St. John’s Anglican on April 27. Cremation has taken place. Relatives and friends from out of town attending the service came from Calgary, Kitchener, Michigan and North Bay. GRAUL, William Armitage (Billy) - 87, passed away on Wednesday evening, April 30th, 2008 at the I.O.O.F. Home in Barrie. Beloved son of the late Russell Yoder Graul and Pearl Irene Graul, dear brother of the late Russell Edward Graul, beloved nephew of Sam Taylor, and dear cousin of Barbara Langford, Nancy Bachman, Ingrid Svendson and Lee Baker. Lovingly remembered by his nieces Dorothy Millar, Bonnie Young, Linda Barnes, Cheryl Graul and his nephews Russell Graul, Robert Graul and their families. Born in Reading, Pennsylvania, Billy resided in Richmond Virginia, Louisville Kentucky, Montreal and Vercheres Quebec, Toronto and Barrie Ontario. A veteran of World War II, Billy served with the R.C.A.F., R.A.F., and U.S.A.A.F. in Canada, Britain, the Middle East, North Africa and Italy. His unit received citations from President Franklin Roosevelt and Harry Truman. Billy graduated from McGill University with a Commerce Degree and was a member of the DKE Fraternity. He also attended Guelph University and MacDonald College completing Agriculture and Animal Husbandry Courses. A lover of music and an accomplished musician, he played the piano for his family and friends at Coleman's, the I.O.O.F. Heritage Place and 33 Brooks. His life passion was the horses. He directed and managed the training and breeding of many successful thoroughbred race horses at this family's renowned Luxiana Farms in Vercheres, Quebec. At Bill's request there will not be a viewing. A memorial service will be held at a later date at the I.O.O.F. with a private interment at Innisvale Cemetery. Martin succumbed peacefully at the London Health Sciences Centre on Wednesday April 30, 2008. Martin is survived by his loving wife Olivia (Preca) Streef, proud father of Christopher (Erin) of Hamilton, Benjamin and Desiree at home. Dearly loved son of Jan and Johanna Streef of Oxford Centre. He is the past president of the Brant OFA and had remained an active director, for many years he has been a director for the Fresh Vegetable Growers of Ontario. PELLETIER, Jean Olivia (nee Cory) Was born on September 20, 1917 at Saskatoon City Hospital and passed away on April 22, 2008 at the Royal University Hospital. Jean spent her childhood in Macklin, Sask. until the death of her father in July 1927. The family moved to Saskatoon where Jean completed her schooling by taking a commercial course at the Saskatoon Technical Collegiate. Upon graduation she worked in bookmaking, in a law office and then at the City Hospital under the Director of Nursing. In 1942 she joined the Federal Government and went to Ottawa. Jean married Leo Wilfred Pelletier in 1949 and they had three children Robert (Bobby), Kent and Joy. After the death of Leo in 1957, Jean worked for the main Sears store for the next 26 years, retiring in 1982 and returning to Saskatoon. While in Ottawa, she was very active in the Boy Scouts, and in Saskatoon with the Hard of Hearing. Family was very important to her and she spent many hours attending activities for her children such as Scouting, Girl Guides, practices for hockey, figure skating, baton and swimming lessons. In later life, she was able to enjoy being a Snow Bird in Yuma, Arizona and enjoyed learning about different forms of crafts such as ceramics. Jean loved to travel and along with family traveled across Canada, the U.S.A., England and Scotland to visit relatives, friends and explore many interesting sights. She loved all of us unconditionally and we will continue to love her forever. Jean was predeceased by her husband Leo Wilfred Pelletier in 1957, infant son Robert (Bobby) in 1950, father Frederick George Cory in 1927, mother Mary Ann Martin-Sinclair (Kent) Cory in 1954, brother Kent George Cory in 1973, sister Winnifred Cavell Cory in 1998. She will be sadly and greatly missed by her son Kent Pelletier of Ajax, Ont., daughter Joy (Martin) Gramowski of Saskatoon, grandsons Chris Pelletier of Ajax, Andrew Pelletier of Calgary and Fredric (Kathryna) Gramowski of Saskatoon and great-grandson Grayson Grasdahl-Gramowski. BROWN, RUTH CREIGHTON - Ruth Creighton Brown (nee Likely) of Westfield, B. 1915 daughter of Ethel Crothers (Creighton) and J. Gordon Likely died at the SJRH on May 1, 2008, five days before her 93rd birthday. Graduated SJHS in the Class of '32. Received BA from Mount Allison University in 1936, B. Ed in '57 and MA English in '66. Before her marriage to Robert Douglas Brown, Ruth spent a year in London in '36/37 and in 1938 she worked as a reporter for the Saint John Citizen. In 1939, she was secretary to Dr. Frank Parker Day in Sackville preparing for the Centennial celebrations of Mt. Allison University. From '54-'73, Ruth was a teacher at Westfield School and Simonds Regional High School. Ruth is survived by two daughters, Jane Likely Madsen (Capt.Tor Bordevik) of Westfield, and Rachel G. Giblin (Peter) of Liverpool, England: one son, Robert C. ( Rhonda) of Burton, N.B.; one brother, Gordon Likely (Joan) of Duluth, Minn.; 6 grand-children: Elizabeth Highfield (Gary) of Halifax, Alison Calder (Stephen) of Saint John, Stephen Giblin (Karen) of London, England, Charlotte Giblin of Cardiff, Wales, and Jennifer and Laura Brown of Burton; 2 great grand-children, Hannah Ruth and Cole Highfield, plus several nephews, nieces and cousins. She was predeceased by her husband and two brothers, Herbert and Dr. John. DUPLISEA, ROBERT LOUIS - passed away suddenly on April 30, 2008 at his home at the Ridgewood Veterans Wing, South Bay, NB. Born in Fairville on July 22, 1918, he was a son of the late William and Margaret (Boyle) Duplisea of Enniskillen, NB. Bob was predeceased by his wife, Daisy (Davidson) in September of 1989 and is survived by daughter, Sherry (Art) McKay; granddaughter, Stacey McKay-Killingbeck (Dwayne); great-granddaughter, Morgan; granddaughter, Shelly (James) Fougere; daughter, Valerie Riley; grandson, David Riley; and great grandson, Matthew; granddaughter, Shannon Riley; and great grandson, John; daughter, Belinda (Barry) Downing; and grandsons, Michael and Justin; two sisters, Helen Marcy and Mary Koziol; and several nieces and nephews, as well as sisters in-law, Dorothy Humphrey (Daisy's Twin) and Mary (Reid) Duplisea. Bob was a veteran of World War II and served as a gunner with the 4th Heavy Battery 3rd (NB) Coast Brigade RCA on Partridge Island. Bob was currently a member of the Jervis Bay Branch #53 of the Royal Canadian Legion. Bob liked talking about his past experiences and often recalled stories from his youth, and how hard all the boys worked to help provide for their mother. This included Wilson Box Mill and shovelling snow for the railroad in Fairville. His favorite memory was of being a caddy at the site of the Ridgewood Hospital, where ironically he spent his last days. A plumber by trade, Bob was well known in the Saint John area. As a young man working for his Uncle Joe at Boyle's Hardware, he began by making stove pipe and made his way up to helping the plumbers. He eventually established his own business, from which he retired. As a councilor of the Parish of Simonds and the City of Saint John, Bob became very involved in sports, often sponsoring local ball teams and helping to establish the Simonds Centennial Arena, as well as Rockwood Park facilities. Hunting, fishing, golf and horses were high on his list of interests, as well as swimming (especially daily treks from Dominion Park to Morna and back) and he received many trophies as a young man. Bob was instrumental in supporting the local police patrols by horseback, and one of his most prized awards was being made an honorary member of the Saint John Policeman's Protective Association Local 61 CUPE in 1970. Ponies and horses were a great hobby, which he passed down to his children and grandchildren. Great granddaughter Morgan, at age 4, is taking riding lessons, much to Grampy Bob's delight. Over the years Bob belonged to the Masons, the Shriners and was a charter member of the Simonds Lions Club, helping to create the Loch Lomond Villa. Words cannot express the appreciation the family has for the staff of the Ridgewood facility, who were always there for Bob and his family; the friends he made among the staff and patients, and the commissionaires who became his friends. The kindness shown by the staff and management was beyond belief. A special thank you to the ambulance staff for their kind support and to Stacey for getting Belinda safely to Saint John in the storm. Resting at Brenan's Select Community Funeral Home, 111 Paradise Row, Saint John (634-7424), with visiting on Friday from 2 to 9pm. There will be a Legion Tribute Service, Friday at 7pm, during visitation. The funeral service will be held from Brenan's Chapel on Saturday, May 3, 2008 at 11:30am. There will be a hymn sing with Marie Short before the funeral, starting at 11am. Following cremation, there will be a private family interment in Riverbank Cemetery, Norton, NB, at a later date.
