PEUHKURI, Linda 2008-05-02 It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of our mother, Linda Peuhkuri, age 46 years. She passed away peacefully on April 16, 2008 at the Ottawa General Hospital with her children by her side. We will always remember our mom‘s beautiful, kind, and giving spirit. Her passions in life were her gourmet cuisine and art, but her ultimate passion was her children, Aimee, Arthur, and Leah. For the gift of her love, we are eternally grateful. Mary Rosie Walsh The death of Mary Rosie Walsh, wife of Jude Dennis Walsh of Whitney, NB, occurred at the Miramichi Regional Hospital on Wednesday, April 30, 2008 at the age of 60. Born in Whitney, Mary is the daughter of Stillman Whitney and the late Elizabeth (McCaig) Whitney. Mary was employed with Beaubear Credit Union a homemaker and attended St. Stephen's United Church, Red Bank, NB. Besides her husband, Jude, and her father, Mary is survived by her stepmother, Christine Whitney; one daughter, Elizabeth Walsh at home; one stepdaughter, Deborah Smith of Kingston, ON; one son, Jude P.E. Walsh of Mississauga, ON; two stepsons, Darryn Walsh of Thorald, ON and Dennis Walsh of Lake Placid, New York; two brothers, Russell (Aileen) of Whitney, NB and Clark (Nadia) of Toronto, ON; and several nieces and nephews. Predeceased by her mother, Elizabeth; and brother, Gavin. Visitation will be held at Bell's Funeral Home on Saturday and Sunday from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 PM. Funeral Service will held from St. Stephen's United Church, Red Bank on Monday, May 5, 2008 at 2 PM with Rev. CROUSE, Mervin Dale July 15, 1959 - April 29, 2008 It is with great sadness that we announce the death of Merv Crouse, who passed away unexpectedly of heart failure Tuesday, April 29, 2008 at the age of 48 years. Merv was born in Calgary, Alberta on July 15, 1959 to Mel and Bea Crouse. At the age of three his family moved to Grande Prairie where he spent the next forty-five years of his life and where the roots of his family have grown deep. Merv leaves to mourn, his beloved wife Dawn Marie, with whom he shared twenty-five wonderful years and their precious children Kathleen, Michael, David, and Nathan Crouse and Daine and Nikki Montgomery who came to be part of their family in 1990. Merv is survived by his mother Bea Crouse, sisters Charlotte (Terry) Metz, Yvonne (Terry) Wolfe and brother Dwight, as well as nieces and nephews, Christine (Josh) and Brynn Lancaster, Terence and Tim Metz, Jason, Tyler and Leanne Wolfe, mother-in-law Betty Lou Lynch Noonan (Vince), brothers-in-law Bryan (Mary-Ann) and Larry Lynch and sister-in-law Erin Lynch (Vince Hulan), nephew and nieces, Kelan, Caitlyn and Miriam Lynch. Merv was predeceased by his father Mel Crouse (2001), sister Karen and brother-in-law Wayne Montgomery (1990) and father-in-law Mike Lynch (1982). Merv was passionate about sports in his life participating in volleyball, basketball, hockey, skiing, football, billiards, fishing, baseball, squash and his favorite, a round of golf. He enjoyed his time with friends and family around a table playing cards and games. He was also a dedicated "Sports Dad", coaching his team of kids through T-ball, soccer and basketball. His heart followed his children to many swim meets, basketball and volleyball games often leading to nail biting tournaments. Even with all his devotion to his children's accomplishments Merv's competitive spirit never allowed him to let his children beat him, he was determined not to let that happen. The kids appreciated and admired him for his commitment to always accomplish his goals, both in sports and in life! Merv demonstrated his business leadership and love of community through his involvement with the Swan City Rotary Club, The Grande Prairie and District Chamber of Commerce and The Alberta Textile Care Association, but he was most proud of carrying on the tradition for the "Coats for Kids" Campaign. Merv previously held a position with the Credit Union Board of Directors. Laughter and kindness were rarely far from Merv, as he surrounded himself with a bounty of wonderful friends who loved him dearly and will miss him enormously. Even though most knew him as the "guy behind the counter" at Crouse's Cleaners and "Swervin' Mervin" on the basketball court, he will always be remembered for his devotion and commitment to Dawn Marie. "I will not fail you, my love. I will continue on the path we shared and I know you will be there to help me, as you always were. And when we meet again at the journey's end, and we laugh together once more, I will have a thousand things to tell you." HAMES, Alberta Kathleen (Kay) July 1, 1919 - May 1, 2008 It is with deep sadness that the family of Kay Hames announces her peaceful passing in Calgary at the age of 88 years. Born in Dawson City, Yukon, Kay soon moved to Saskatchewan where she spent much of her early life. As an only child, she was soon introduced to a group of twelve siblings - The Hames Family in Oxbow, SK. It was not long after that she married into the family when she wed Norman Hames in Moose Jaw during WWII. Kay was trained and practiced as a registered nurse at the Moose Jaw General Hospital, before moving to Calgary. While living in Calgary, Kay was a proud member of both the Gyro and Glencoe Clubs. Kay will always be remembered for her tremendous sense of humour, love of life and kind heart. She will be dearly missed. Kay is survived by her daughter Dr. Linda Hames; son David (Barbara) Hames; granddaughters, Kari (Peter) Beermann, Jennifer and Lindsay Hames; and of course, her dearest friend, Precious. REID, James (Jim) Edward April 18, 1927 - April 26, 2008 It is with heavy hearts that we say goodbye to Jim Reid, beloved husband of Betty Reid of Calgary. Jim lived every moment of his life for his family. He and Betty left their home in Ottawa to move to Calgary to be near and help raise their grandchildren. URBANCZYK, Henry J. 1923-2008. Peacefully passed away, surrounded by the love of his family, at the Lakeshore General Hospital on April 29, 2008. Beloved husband for 55 years of Vera. Loving father of Helen (Dave Armitage), John (Suzanne Paquet), Lydia (Angelo Gallo). Devoted grandfather of Alannah, Miranda, Cole, Tiffany, Steven, Karine and Stephane. He will also be greatly missed by his brother Ralph, his family as well as by many other relatives and dear friends. Born in Opole, Poland, Henry was a veteran of WW II and survivor of the sinking of the steemship Empress of Canada, later served as a navigator with the RAF Polish Bombers Squadron. He settled in Canada in 1955 where he touched so many lives. Heartfelt thanks to James Graham; our neighbour, to the staff and volunteers of the NOVA, CLSC, fire departement of Pierrefonds and ambulance for their care and dedication. McMANUS, John Patrick (Pat) 2008-05-02 John Patrick (Pat) January 30th, 1921 - April 30th, 2008 With deep sadness and heavy heart, we announce the peaceful passing of a wonderful husband, father, uncle and grandfather, with his devoted wife Elsie and his loving family around him at the Thunder Bay Regional Health Sciences Centre on Wednesday, April 30th. Pat was a quiet, kind and gentle man with a wonderful smile and twinkle in his eyes. Pat was born in Brockville, ON and raised on a farm. Pat enlisted in Stormont, Dundas, and Glengarry Highlanders in 1940 and served in the infantry in England and N.W. Europe. He was also in the D-Day operation in France where he was wounded on the second day of battle. After a long hospital stay, he returned to Canada in 1945. Pat was very athletic in his younger years and excelled at running, baseball and hockey. He was the coach of the Current River Hockey team for 21 years. He also volunteered with the legion at their Wednesday bingos. Pat worked for Ontario Hydro for five years where he met and married his first wife Rauni in 1948. They moved to Fort William where he purchased the Sunny Side Store which he operated. He then purchased property on Grenville Avenue where he owned and operated the Northland Hardware Store for 23 years before retirement in 1979. This is where his family was raised. Pat‘s first wife Rauni passed away in 1991. He enrolled in a clogging class at the 55+ Centre, where he met and fell in love with his second wife Elsie. They were married in St. Thomas Anglican Church, on May 21st, 1994. Pat and Elsie entertained at numerous local and regional events with the Happy Cloggers. Together Pat and Elsie enjoyed travelling to England and Australia several times and also throughout Canada and the United States visiting family and friends and made many more. Pat was an avid reader and enjoyed spending time with friends old and new. Pat enjoyed the summer farm in Kaministiquia where he loved to spend time with family and entertain numerous friends. Pat is survived by his devoted wife Elsie, sons Tim (Christine), Danny (Michele), daughters Mary Anne and Jennifer, stepchildren Carole (Tom), Judy, Wendy (Gerald), Kevan (Neca), Rosanne (Craig), Melanie (Allen), Shaun (Barbara) and Daryn. Grandchildren Greg, Kate, Allie and Riley McManus. Step grandchildren Kyle and Ryan Sinclair, Kaila and Jordan Mosa, Richard Naroski, Carly Rose Dougherty, Neil and Brittany Hrabowy, Kathleen, Tess, Hannah and Alexandra Naroski and Taylor Naroski. Two great grandchildren Alisa and Jordan Sinclair ~ he loved them all. Also surviving is his only sister Jean-Marie Davis of Brockville. Predeceased by parents George and Lillian, brothers Lawrence, Stan and George, sister Ethel Smithers and numerous nephews and nieces. He will dearly missed by many. ANDERSON, Joanne Noreen January 11, 1923 - April 25, 2008 Joanne Noreen Anderson of Calgary passed away on Friday, April 25, 2008 at the age of 85 years. She was born and raised in Olds, AB, and will be lovingly remembered by her daughter Coreen (Jim) Teague of Calgary; sons Derald (Nadine) Anderson of Cremona, Bruce Anderson of Saskatoon, and Ian Anderson of Ontario; twelve grandchildren and her great-grandchildren. Joanne is also survived by her sister Karlene Krips of Manitoba. She was predeceased by her husband Thomas Anderson on April 11, 1976; parents Paul and Mary Gebert; and three brothers, Robert, Garwin, and Loren. Gerald Alfred Gauvreau died April 24, 2008 at the Temiskaming Hospital at the age of 66. Born in North Bay on July 23, 1941 to René and Emilia Gauvreau, Mr. Gauvreau made his home in Temagami where he enjoyed the outdoors, especially fishing. He will be remembered as a “big fan” of hockey. Mr. Gauvreau was predeceased by his parents; brothers Marcel and Ronald; sisters Carmen, Collette and his beloved daughter Tracy Gauvreau. He is survived by his loving wife Shirley (née Shallow) of Temagami; children Shelly Gauvreau (and Jason Blais) of Temagami, Raymond Gauvreau (and Jenny Brunet) of Cochrane; grandchildren Krista, Ashley, Adam and Jordan; siblings Donald Gauvreau, Norman (and Carolyn) Gauvreau, Fern (and Edith) Gauvreau, Dennis (and Betty) Gauvreau, Robert (and Shirley) Gauvreau, Roger (and Wendy) Gauvreau, Ranny Gauvreau, Lucille (and Jake) Linginfelter, Theresa (and Rene) Trembly, and Bernadette (and Phil) Cloutier. Funeral mass was celebrated April 28 from St. Elizabeth’s Catholic Church in Temagami. Father Peter Moher officiated. Interment will follow at Whispering Pines Cemetery in Temagami. TINKESS, Jessie Marion (nee Glazebrook) November 15, 1922 - April 28, 2008 Jessie Tinkess quietly passed away at Bow View Manor on April 28, 2008. Jessie was predeceased by her husband Bill and daughter Jane Marion. Jessie lived a long and full life. She was born in Saskatoon, Sask. in 1922. She met and married her husband Bill of fifty years in 1946 and they lived in Calgary most of their married lives. Jessie is loved and cherished by her children and their partners, Susan (Barry), Pat (Bob), and Bill (Debbie) as well as numerous grandchildren and great-grandchildren. Jessie also treasured her special friendship with Daryl and Jeanne. Her friendship and love will be greatly missed by all who knew her. MOSS, Timothy Bailey 1948 - 2008 Timothy Moss of High River passed away on April 8, 2008 at the age of 60 years. He is survived by his sons John Moss (Lorinda Barteski) of Calgary, and Richard (Heather) Moss of Mission, B.C.; mother Irene T. Moss of High River; brother Leslie Moss of High River; and grandchildren Abby and Cooper Moss. He was predeceased by his father Harry in 2004. Viola Dorine Perrier died April 20, 2008 at the age of 73 at the Temiskaming Hospital. Born in Haileybury on October 6, 1934 to Magloire and Laurette Perrier, Miss Perrier made her home at Mileage 104 Coleman Township. She was predeceased by her parents; sisters Laurette Weiseflock, Madeleine Larose, Thérese Toal, Irene Neddo, Claudette Neill, Rita Pepin and Lilliane Mayer. She is survived by many nieces and nephews. The funeral service was held at the Buffam Leveille Funeral Home in Haileybury on April 25. Father John Lemire officiated.
