BOURCIER, Ivan 1937 - 2008 Après une dure et longue bataille, je suis parti au soleil ce mercredi 19 mars 2008. Je laisse avec beaucoup de peine et reconnaissance ma tendre épouse Réjeanne Plouffe, nos enfants Lucie (Mike Brisebois), Manon (Ben Gauvreau) et Jean (Marlene Parent), nos petits-enfants Shawn, Vanessa (Benoit), Veronic (Nicolas), Joey, Emily, Jonathan et Jennifer. Je suis parti rejoindre mes parents Georgette et Armand ainsi que mon frère Robert. McGOLDRICK, John 1926 - 2008 Décédé soudainement le 15 mars 2008, en revenant de Floride où il a passé des excellentes vacances de golf. Il avait 81 ans. WALSH, GEORGE JOHNSON The death of George Johnson Walsh of Fredericton, NB, occurred at the Dr. Everett Chalmers Hospital on Thursday, March 20th, 2008. Born in Port Arthur, ON, he was the son of Sylvia (Johnson) and the late George Huntley Walsh. He was the husband of Elizabeth (Tizzard) Walsh for 38 years. Survived by his wife, Elizabeth; mother, Sylvia; two sons, Dallas Walsh (Chelsea Ross) of Fredericton and Dennis Walsh (Melody Russell) of Nasonworth; two nieces, Tracey and Cerina; one nephew, Trevor. OBITUARY RUSSELL GEORGE BREMNER C.A., R.C.N.V.R. Fleet Air Arm, WWII Sadly, the family announces the passing of Russ Bremner at his home in Toronto on March 20, 2008, in his eighty-seventh year. With an abundance of fond memories, Paula (Herdman), his life companion, celebrated sixty years of marriage with Russ and their family on January 31. His children Lynn, Pam (Jones), Sue (Rainville), all in Toronto and Dean in Calgary share their mother's loss, and celebrate the life their father lived with generosity, wisdom and enthusiasm. Russ was a great friend to Ron Jones, David Rainville and Andrea Bremner (Ricottone), and a loving "Gramps" to Gillian and Lauren Rainville, and Charles and Carling Bremner. Russ was predeceased by his brother Bruce Bremner and sister Mary Wilson. Russ served Canada in the Fleet Air Arm during World War II, and later became president of the Montreal Naval Officers Club. His professional career spanned twenty-seven years of private practice in Montreal and the subsequent merger of his business with Gardiner MacDonald in Vancouver. He moved to Toronto with Paula in 1977, and spent years on the boards of many companies, which benefited from his intellectual depth and business perspective. He enjoyed a stimulating life with business associates, many friends and his wonderful Paula to confide in. At Russ' request, a private family service is planned. A celebration of Russ' life will be held at the Badminton and Racquet Club at 25 St. Clair Ave. West, Toronto on Wednesday March 26 from 2:30 p.m. to 4:30 p.m. In lieu of flowers, donations to Canadian Head Injury Resource Services (CHIRS) 62 Finch Avenue West, Toronto, Ontario, M2N 7G1 will be much appreciated. McTeigue, Gerald James 1921 - 2008 Passed away on March 20, 2008 in Montreal at the age of eighty-six.Beloved husband of Ruth Rasmussen and father of Michael (Louise),James (dec), Joan, Brian (Gilda), and Paul (Tracey). Grandfather of Sean, Patti, John, David (dec), Keely, Ryan, Frances, Lara, and James.He is also survived by six great grandchildren as well as his sister Jacqueline (Jurg) who resides in Bern, Switzerland. Gerald was born in Montreal and graduated from McGill University in1947 with a Bachelor of Engineering (Metallurgy) and was a long time employee of Allis-Chalmers before retiring in 1982.He spent almost 30 years at the NDG YMCA and was an avid sportsman who enjoyed sailing, fishing, running, and tennis. He also spent 50 wonderful years of summers at Lake McDonald in the Laurentians thatprovided many memorable moments for his family and friends.His funeral will take place at St. Ignatius of Loyola Church on WestBroadway in NDG on Wednesday, March 26, 2008 at 11 AM.In lieu of flowers, donations to the Oncology Department of the RoyalVictoria Hospital (Dr. Shustik) or the charity of your choice would begreatly appreciated. SANDERS, Charles Sterling (Charlie) - It is with great sorrow that the family of His Worship Charles S. Sanders, Justice of the Peace, announces his passing March 13, 2008 at the Sudbury Regional Hospital, Laurentian Site. Born in Sudbury, December 12th, 1940, but raised in Larchwood, Charlie spent his early years working on the family farm before serving as an Ontario Provincial Police officer beginning in 1964. He spent the later 1970's appointed the Special Constable Municipal Law Enforcement Officer for the community of Onaping Falls. In 1982, Charlie with wife Doreen started Sanders Greenhouses which would produce over 25 million trees for re-greening projects across northern Ontario. During this 16 year period, Charlie went on to develop the Tri- Northern Resources, a firm responsible for the introduction of the blue box recycling initiative in Greater Sudbury. Charlie was sworn in as an Ontario Court Justice of the Peace on February 1st, 1999 where he served the public until his illness prevented him from continuing to work. Dearly loved husband and best friend of 43 years to Doreen Sanders (nee Hanson), loving father to Tracey Sanders, husband Mitchell Ross, and Brendon Sanders, wife Linda (nee Belanger), dearly missed grandfather to Corey, Savannah, Connor and Tritney. Son of the late Freeman and Delia (nee Brosseau) Sanders, brother of the late Ione Daigle (nee Sanders) and Willis Sanders (also predeceased). Charlie will be sadly missed by his sister Inez Racette (nee Sanders) husband Henri of Chelmsford, Rona Wolfram (nee Sanders) husband Reynold of Sudbury and brother Colin Sanders wife Kit Hilton of Turks and Caicos Islands BWI. ROSSI, Elsie Kaarina - Her loved ones announce with sorrow the death of Elsie Kaarina Rossi on March 14. She was a courageous woman who overcame many obstacles since her birth on March 19, 1927. She lost her mother Sylvia Lampinen when she was only ten and both her father, David and beloved husband Anthony (Tony) in 1976. She is survived by her brother Oiva (Hazel). She persevered and raised her sons David (Marilyn), Alan (Julia predeceased) and Michael (Carmen) and continued to care for her developmentally challenged daughter, Karen to the very end. Her love for life and those around her was unconditional and she will be dearly missed by many, especially her grandchildren, Anthony, Dayna and Elliot. She endured breast cancer, stroke and heart disease without complaint and took pleasure in giving her time and effort to various organizations the most recent being the Ladies of Kaleva. She lived the simple life at her cottage every summer and was a wonderful cook whose recipes will be treasured by generations to come. She has touched many lives in her eighty years and will be remembered as a kind, considerate and caring person by all those who had the pleasure of knowing her. Memorial Service in the R.J. GACHNANG, Rene Alfred 03/15/2008 Rene Gachnang passed away peacefully in the Gatineau Memorial Hospital on Saturday, March 15, 2008 at the age of 80. Rene was the husband of Esther, father of Charles (Katherine), Effie (Gary), Lily, and Sylvie; grandfather of Kyla and Dylan. Rene was born in Aigle, Switzerland on January 8, 1928. Ren and Esther immigrated to Canada in 1951-1952. Rene and Esther adored Canada. Rene was a master tradesman and a brilliant wood carver. Through his work and family, Rene will be forever remembered. ROOK, Garnet Isabel (nee Fleming) - Died peacefully in her 95th year on March 20th, 2008 at the Toronto East General Hospital following a short illness which she bore with her customary humour and remarkable strength. STEVENS, Margaret (nee Caldwell) 19402008 - The family announces with sorrow her sudden but peaceful death at home in Sudbury, Ont. on Thursday, March 20, 2008 at age 67 years. Pre-deceased by her loving husband Robert (Bob) in June 2005. She was also pre-deceased by her parents Charlie Caldwell (1974) and Louise Caldwell (2007) as well as her brother Michael Caldwell (1984). Survived by her son Rod Stevens (Lisette) of Sudbury and his daughter Stephanie of Timmins and her daughter Shari St-Jean (Frank) of Sudbury and their daughter Emelina. REID, Harvey McGregor B.A. Sc. Passed away quietly at home on Tuesday, March 18, 2008 a day short of his 91st birthday. Born March 19, 1917 in Ottawa, he spent most of his life in Toronto, Ottawa and Stroud, Ontario. Harvey received his education at the University of Toronto and after graduating in Electrical Engineering in 1940, he joined Ontario Hydro. He was a licensed Ham Radio operator at the time. As a Commissioned Officer in the R.C.A.F. he was involved with a special radar unit attached to the Royal Marines during WWII. He continued working at Ontario Hydro after the war and then joined Motorola where he spent the rest of his career and retired to Stroud, Ontario with his wife Dorothy (predeceased). Harvey will be lovingly remembered by his family, son Dr. Lloyd Reid and wife Lynda, son James Reid, daughter Catherine Doty and husband Lance, daughter Susan Riches and husband Jeff. He cherished his grandchildren Heather Papadogianis, Ken Reid, Suzanne Eagleson, Ian Doty, Emily Doty, Alan Riches and Mark Riches and great-grandchildren Bronwyn, Elise and Katie Papadogianis, and Kassidy and Hunter Eagleson. SETTERFIELD, George Ambrose August 29, 1929-March 15, 2008 Passed away peacefully at home in Victoria, B.C. after a short fight with cancer. George is survived by his partner of 35 years, Roslyn Grey, his five children, Tom (Penny), David, Jen (Nancy), Wayne and Chris, and their mother Diana. He also leaves behind five grandchildren, one great grandchild and a sister, Gwendolyn, and her family. George was born in Halifax and went to school in Victoria. He completed an undergraduate degree in biology at the University of British Columbia, undertook his PhD in the University of Wisconsin and did postgraduate studies at UBC. He then moved to Ottawa, where he worked at the National Research Council and then Carleton University. He was a professor of biology at Carleton for approximately 20 years, some of it as Department Head. He will be missed by past colleagues and numerous students, who were inspired by his passionate teaching style. ARCH, Mabel - Passed away suddenly on Monday, March 17, 2008 at the Bella Senior Care Residence. She was born in North Bay, Ontario on June 30, 1917. Mabel was predeceased by her first husband James Phillips and her second husband John Arch, her parents Mabel and John Beckett, sister Emily Beckett, brother William Beckett and nephew Edwin Arnold. She will be sadly missed by her loving sister Edith Arnold whom she told daily, as they held hands at Bella, how much she loved her and her sister-in-law Elsie Beckett of Simcoe. Dearly beloved aunt of Joyce and Rolf Schefold of Niagara Falls, Jack and Steph Arnold of Palmyra, PA,; great-aunt and great-great- aunt of many nieces and nephews.
