Devoted husband and best friend of Ruth for 46 years. Predeceased by his parents, Mary and Joseph Snoddon. PENNER, Cathrine - Passed away peacefully at Tabor Manor in St. Catharines on Sunday, March 23, 2008, in her 93rd year. Predeceased by her husband Jake in 1980. Dear mother of Iola (Nick) Tiessen, Robert (Nancy), Cathy (Harold) Burke and son in law Colin Neville. Survived by sisters Helen Hernder, Mary Andres, brother Henry Andres (Irene) and sisters in law, Pearl and Hilda Bergman. Loving grandmother to Reg (Diana), Laurie (Peter), John (Kaethe), Pam (Michael), Dan (Betty), Stephen (Kathy), Bruce, Ellen, Andrew (Diane), Jeffrey (Amanda), Matthew (Rose) and 20 great grandchildren. Predeceased by a daughter Dora, brothers Peter and Jake Bergman. Cathrine owned and operated Penners Restaurant in Virgil Ontario together with her husband Jake for 25 years. REED, Watson - The life of a humane, generous man came to an end Saturday, March 22. Watson Adair Reed, born September 25, 1944 died at home in the comfort and love of family. Watson, one of 10 children, was born to Patricia and George Reed in Guelph, Ont.; predeceased by sister Gayle, February 1, 2008. He was a loving husband to Patricia Rooney and devoted father to Khan Rooney, Montreal and Gregory Labelle, Toronto., special brother to Victoria and Ron Dubciak, Penny and Ray LaPointe and Krystina Reed. Watson's strengths and generous character grew from overcoming adversities and struggles of his early years; he had a deep sense of ethics and fair play, kindness and loyalty to the end. Watson, a graduate of Conestoga College in Electronic Engineering Technology, worked with Industry Canada until his retirement in May, 2004. Retirement brought increased involvement in community and charitable activities, particularly the Shaver Hospital Foundation and the St. Catharines Rotary Club which was a special place of joy for him. He gave generously and often of his time during Rib Fest and Rotary Auction. He zealously supported the Youth Exchange Program via which he and Patricia hosted several young students from Europe, Latin America and Japan. These relationships continue today. Watson received a Paul Harris Fellow from Rotary in 2007 and was humbled by this distinctive honour, believing that others had done much more than he. Watson relished family, friends, interaction with former work associates and all the joys these involvements brought. It had been his plan to have further participation in charitable endeavours but this was not to be; his spirit and love of people, particularly for those less fortunate, will live on in the hearts of those he touched so deeply. He was overwhelmed by the loving, generous support shown him during his illness and was buoyed by the many prayers, good wishes, kind acts of those who made contact of one sort or another each day. Watson Adair Reed was a unique, cherished individual. Watson is resting at the GEORGE DARTE FUNERAL CHAPEL, 585 Carlton St. until Tuesday at 10:30 am. Funeral Liturgy to celebrate Watson's life will be held at Star of the Sea Parish, 34 Elgin St., at 11 am. Cremation to follow. TRUONG, Kim Nam 2008-03-24 It is with great sadness that the family of Mr. Kim Nam Truong, owner of Red Rickshaw restaurant, announces his sudden passing on Saturday, March 22, 2008. Kim came from Vietnam in 1979 with his wife and children through the sponsorship of St. Elizabeth Church. He became a restaurant entrepreneur in 1990. Kim was hard working with a kind heart who loved his family and was generous with others. He will be lovingly remembered and dearly missed by his wife My Ngoc, son Hung Thien (Yvonne), grandchildren (Jenna & Jason), daughter Rusien. SMELT, Geoffrey Henry Cecil 2008-03-24 The family announces with sorrow Geoff’s passing at Wilson Memorial Hospital in Marathon on Saturday, March 22, 2008, at the age of 68 years. Beloved husband of the late Joyce, and dearest father of Alexandra, Timothy (Glenda), Geoffrey (Diane), Peter (Rita), Andrew (deceased), Edward (Maria), Eva (Jacques), and furry pal Chichi. He is survived by siblings Rachel (Claude), Walter (Marion), and Jack (Rachel) of England, as well as Reginald and Ian of Australia. Geoff will be sadly missed by grandchildren Jeannie, Andrew, James, Kendra, Jodi, Geoffrey, Lisa, Adam, Wayne, Gregory, Nikila, Jay, and Michel; and great-grandchildren Robert, Andy, and Joannie. As well as cousin Ray Seed (Barb) of Collingwood, who Geoff always said he “loved like a brother but from a different mother.” Predeceased by parents Reginald and Winifred. PIZZI, Michael 2008-03-24 In loving memory of Michael Pizzi, age 93 years, who passed away at the Versa Care Home in Thunder Bay on Friday, March 21st. INMAN, Walter Alexander Inman Jr. 2008-03-24 Mr. Walter Alexander Inman Jr., age 86 years, a resident of suite 606-335 Adelaide Street, passed away peacefully in the Thunder Bay Regional Health Sciences Centre on Saturday morning, March 22, 2008 with his family by his side. Born in St. Boniface, Manitoba on June 30, 1921, he served overseas in the army with the RCASC for four years. After returning from the war, Walter married Mavis McFarlane in April, 1946. A member of the Royal Canadian Legion, Branch No. 6, he organized and formed the No. 1 Neebing Scout Troup many years ago. For 38 years, Walter was employed by the Great Lakes Paper Mill. In his spare time, he enjoyed growing flowers and tending his gardens as well as travelling with Happy Time Tours across Canada and parts of the United States. Walter‘s main interest, however, was always his family and home. Walter will be lovingly remembered by Mavis, his wife of 62 years; 4 daughters: Gerri Gibson, Brenda (Randy) Bakaluk, of Weyburn, Saskatchewan (here), Kathy (Albert) Seed, and Joan Mills (Ray Speer); 2 sons: Tom (Suzanne) and Ron, of Edmonton, Alberta; 15 grandchildren and 8 great grandchildren; 3 brothers: Clarence (Elizabeth), Dan (Pat) and Bill, of Cranbrook, B.C.; 3 sisters: Audrey (Jack) Gammond, Katherine Stefurak, and Anne Mintenko, of London, Ontario; brother-in-law Art Cronk. Numerous nieces and nephews also survive. He was predeceased by his parents Florence and Walter Sr., brother Bert and 5 sisters: Gladys, Helen, Louella, Wilma and Evelyn. Following cremation, Visitation for family and friends will be held on Wednesday, March 26th from 2:00 until 4:00 p.m. in the Harbourview Funeral Centre, 499 North Cumberland Street. In lieu of flowers, donations in Walter‘s memory may be made to the CCAC, Community Care Access Centre, or the Diabetes Association.

HARDY, James (Jim) 2008-03-24 James (Jim) Hardy, passed away peacefully in St. Joseph`s Care Group, Hospice Unit, on Friday, March 21, 2008. He will be sadly missed by daughters: Brenda and Linda; grandchildren: Marc and Jaimie; son-in-law Bob; brothers: Stan (Judy), Wilf (Sheila); and friend Gary. Jim was predeceased by his wife Bernice in 1998. If friends so desire, donations may be made in Jim`s memory to St. Joseph`s Care Group. BERGERSON, Dean 2008-03-24 Mr. Dean W. Bergerson passed away suddenly on February 5, 2008 in his 39th year. Beloved son of Cynthia M. Bergerson and Dean and Evelyn Bergerson. WALKER, DOROTHY MARIE The death of Dorothy Walker occurred on March 22nd, 2008 at the York Manor Nursing Home. Born in Fredericton, she is predeceased by her parents, Walter and Hazel (Burlock) McGinn; her three brothers, Robert, Walter and Patrick McGinn; brother-in-law, Kip Roxborough; and sisters-in-law, Margaret McGinn and Velma McGinn. Surviving Dorothy is her daughter, Shona (Vern) Patriquin of Tatamagouche, NS; one brother, Mike (Carol) McGinn of Arnprior, ON; sisters, Clarice Roxborough of Fredericton, NB and Maureen (John) Fantin of Sudbury, ON; and her sister-in-law, Jean McGinn of Fredericton, NB. Dorothy is also survived by one granddaughter, Kelly Burgess, as well as several nieces, nephews and cousins. A special thanks is extended by the family to the staff of the Atrium and Dixon Lodge at the York Manor Nursing Home for their exceptional care. He is the son of the late Emilien and Delina Gallant. Besides his wife, he is survived by son, Allan( Claudette) of Cape Egmont; grandchildren, Tanya and Ryan, and a step-mother, Margaret Campbell of Charlottetown; a sister, Leona Poirier of Mont Carmel; step-sisters, Ramona Hopper of Alberta, Betty Johnson of Los Vegas, Sheila Hanson of Halifax, Debbie McInnis of Charlottetown; step-brothers, Vern of Hamilton, Wayne also of Hamilton, and George of Charlottetown and numerous nieces and nephews. Besides his parents, he was pre-deceased by daughter Gisele; brothers, Augustin, Edmond, Ted, and Victor and infant brother, Felix. He was a member of Club d'Age d'Or, Club Acadien, Mont Carmel Church Choir and also of Senior Club. GAUVREAU, Mary Noreen (nee Mulligan) Noreen died peacefully at the Elisabeth Bruyere Health Centre on Friday, March 21st, 2008 after a long illness at the age of 88 years. Beloved wife of the late George Gauvreau, dear mother of Bill (Ann) and Jim (Dale). Cherished grandma of Sean (Jessica) and Meghan. She will be dearly missed by her sister Kathlyn Wickware (late Bill). Also will be missed by several nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by her parents Patrick and Margaret Mulligan (Osceola, Ontario), and by her brothers Pat and John and sister Marguerite McEachen. MADIGAN, Melissie (Huston) 2008-03-24 June 23, 1961 - March 21, 2008 Melissie Madigan, aged 46, passed away at Thunder Bay Regional Hospital with her son and family by her side. Melissie was born and raised in Thunder Bay attending St. Andrew’’s, St. Bernards, St. Ignatius Schools, graduating from Hillcrest High School in 1981. Family was Melissie’’s number one priority. Melissie’’s love and devotion to her son Dau and the "love of her life" Howie were absolute. Anyone that got to know Melissie soon learned how protective she was about her family, she would support them and protect them no matter what. Time spent with Howie, Dau, Nanna and Pappa at camp was one of her greatest pleasures, hanging out with "The Huston Clan", cooking, splitting firewood, swimming and having saunas. Howie’’s passing at a young age left a huge void in her life, one that was never filled. Melissie loved her Dau, he was her greatest achievement. His childhood antics made her laugh and other times just about drove her crazy. It didn’’t matter where Melissie lived - "Lissie’’s Day Care Centre" was always open and Dau’’s family just kept getting bigger. The nieces and nephews will tell you Auntie Lissie is the best, she "is the favorite" hands down. Pets were something else that Melissie loved to dote over; hers, yours or anyone else’’s. Melissie had a "heart of Gold", a heart so big, you had to wonder how it fit into that little body. Her spirit could not be measured, her strength was undeniable, her stubbornness was sometimes overwhelming, even MCTD was never going to get the best of her. No one would guess that hidden beneath that beautiful long curly hair and smiling face was the ultimate tom boy. The boys will tell you that she could "pack a punch". No matter how tired or sick Melissie was, she never complained or thought of herself. She was more concerned about everyone else; calling to check on family and friends, or doing laundry and cooking for everybody and anybody. You would have thought she was trying to feed the world all by herself. I guess now we’’ll all start losing weight!! If you were looking for one word to describe Melissie it would be "LOVE". Melissie was pre-deceased by Ken (Howie) Huston, parents Ernest and Clara Madigan and brother Ernest. Violet E. Sickles 1917-2008 MIRAMICHI - Violet Ellen Sickles, widow of the late William Sickles, passed away at her residence at the Miramichi Senior Citizens home, on Saturday, March 22, 2008, at the age of 90. Born in Chatham, on June 1, 1917, she was the daughter of the late Arthur and Helen (Philpotts) Spray. She was a homemaker and a member of St. Marys Anglican Church, Miramichi; a former member of the A.C.W.; a former choir member; a former Sunday School Teacher. She is survived by two daughters, Ellen Malley (Ronald), of Miramichi and Edith Smith (Duncan), of Calgary, Alta.; one son, Arthur Sickles, of Toronto, Ont.; five grandchildren; six great grandchildren; as well as several nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by her husband, William, in 1969; two brothers, William and Charles Spray. Visiting will be at Adams Funeral Home Ltd., 140 King Street, on Tuesday only, from 2-4 and 7-9 pm. The funeral service will be held from St. Marys Anglican Church, on Wednesday, March 26, 2008, at 2 pm, conducted by Rev. Gordon Thompson. Interment will be in St. Pauls Anglican Cemetery, later in the spring. John Leslie Cook 1924 - 2008 SACKVILLE, NB - John Leslie Cook, formerly of Mount View, peacefully slipped away at the age of 83, on Easter Sunday, March 23, 2008. Born in Mount View in 1924, he was a son of the late Aubrey and Margaret (Cole) Cook. A life long farmer, John was also a member of the Middle Sackville Baptist Church. The last surviving member of his family, he was predeceased by his sister, Muriel E. Ayer and by his brother, Harold.
