Lévesque Monique 1930 - 2008 À l’hôpital de Saint-Jérôme, le vendredi 14 mars, à l’âge de 77 ans et 9 mois, est décédée dame Monique Lévesque, fille de feu Elmire Parent et de feu Émile Lévesque, autrefois de St-Germain de Kamouraska. Elle laisse dans le deuil ses frères et sa sœur: Marcel, Oscar (Madeleine Lupien), Fernand (Jeanne-Mance Veilleux), Lucille (Maurice Lévesque) et Jean-Louis (Johanne Prévost). Plusieurs nièces et neveux, cousines et cousins se retrouvent aussi en deuil. MOLNAR, Adalbert "Al" Adalbert "Al" Molnar passed away at the Sarcee Nursing Home on Wednesday, March 19, 2008 at the age of 87 years. Al is predeceased by his beloved Rose, wife of fifty years. He is lovingly remembered by his three daughters Vera Kruger-Whittaker and husband Rocky, Helen Katy Blair and husband Rhett, and Mary Ann Foltz and husband Jeffrey, as well as his former son-in-law Werner Kruger and wife Cherry Lynn and their son Alexander. SCHMAUTZ, Joyce (nee Neumann) May 6, 1933 - March 16, 2008 Joyce Schmautz of the Sandstone Lodge, Okotoks, passed away, after a short battle with COPD at the High River Hospital, on Sunday, March 16, 2008 at the age of 74 years. Joyce was born in Calgary in 1933 and moved to the High River area with her Mom and sister Carol. She met the love of her life, Emil Schmautz and they celebrated many happy years together. They were blessed with four sons, Fred, Terry, Randy, and Darrell who worked in their Shell service station on Heritage and Elbow for years and on the family farm in Aldersyde. Joyce was a strong, determined woman whose family was very important to her. Joyce is survived by her children, Fred (Brenda), Terry (Nancy), Randy (Nancy), and Darrell (Diane); and eight grandchildren, John and Grant, Tanelle and JJ, Brian and Darren, and Dallas and Dayna; one great-granddaughter Alexis; and family in Ontario and Alberta. She was predeceased by her husband Emil in 1998 and sister Carol Nicholls. BEAUDRY, Armand - 1926 – 2008 C'est avec beaucoup de tristesse que la famille annonce son décès, à l'Hôpital Général du Nipissing Ouest, Sturgeon Falls, le mardi 18 mars 2008, à l'âge de 81 ans, après une lutte courageuse contre le cancer. Fils de feu Napoléon et de feu Louise (née Bourgeois) Beaudry. Conjoint bien-aimé de Colette Labelle (née Michaud) de Sturgeon Falls. Père aimé et respecté de Jean-Guy (Cathy) de Port Colbourne, Normand (Bonnie) d'Edmonton, Lorraine Lapensée (Claude) de Welland et Yvon de St Catharines. Lui survit une soeur Julia Labelle (Lucien) de Sudbury. Prédécédé par ses frères, Aurèle (Bernadette), René (Audette), Arthur (Thérèse), Henri (Germaine), Oscar (Murielle) et ses soeurs, Laurette Bédard (Émile) et Bernadette Labelle-Bédard (Laurent/Émile). Son souvenir restera gravé dans le coeur de tous ses petits-enfants, Cory, Jean-Paul, Brieley, Michael, David, Paul, Renée, Danika et six arrière-petits-enfants. GODFREY, WILLIAM GERALD, BA, MA, PHD -Emeritus Professor of History, Mount Allison University - 10 June 1941 - 19 March 2008. On Wednesday, March 19, 2008, at age 66 years, after a long struggle with cancer that he bore with quiet grace and determination. Born in Stratford, ON, the son of the late Louis and Cecilia (Connolly) Godfrey. Brother of Sister, Lucy (Lucille) Godfrey (CSJ) and Theresa Godfrey (both of Kitchener, ON) and predeceased by his brother, Douglas Godfrey. Devoted husband of Rhianna Edwards for 11 years. Loving father of Evelyne (Winfried Kockelmann) Godfrey (UK), Marc Godfrey and Karam Godfrey (both of Vancouver, BC). Step-father of Jason Watt (Vancouver, BC) and Jennifer (Kevin) Blacklock (Upper Cape, NB). Proud grandfather of Branden and Lindsey Blacklock. Fondly remembered by many nieces and a nephew in the Kitchener/Waterloo area. Bill grew up in Kitchener, ON and after schooling at St. Jerome's High School, he attended the University of Waterloo, where he completed his BA and MA in History. While teaching history for three years at Notre Dame University of Nelson, BC; where he also served as Dean of Men, he earned a PhD in History from Queens University. In 1970, Bill began a 36 year career in the History Department at Mount Allison University. He served as Department Head for eight years; Dean of Arts for seven years, and Director of Research Administration for three years. A particularly effective teacher and administrator, Bill was pleased with his many students, 49 of whose thesis he supervised; several of whom completed their own books and articles. Despite his own heavy load, Bill published a substantial list of works which will be published in a bibliography in an upcoming Acadiensis issue. Bill was twice honoured with the Paré Award for Excellence in Research and Teaching; he also received a Corpus Christi College visiting Fellowship at Cambridge University, and the Stiles-Bennett Professorship of History at Mount Allison University. He also was awarded the Kwansei Gakuin Professorship of Canadian Studies in Japan but had to return to Canada early because of illness. Bill was one of a number of Mount Allison faculty who successfully demonstrated the combination of research and teaching at the undergraduate liberal arts and science level that provided Mount Allison with its excellent reputation. Even after retirement, Bill kept abreast of the literature in his field and was known for his ability to recall all the details of the hundreds of books and articles he read each year. He also loved to travel, and although he and Rhianna explored many places in Canada and the US, by far his favourite place was the UK; Bill agreed with Samuel Johnson who said: "When a man is tired of London, he is tired of life." Bill was a faculty member who had an impact on faculty, students and administration at his institution and he will be remembered and missed. EVELYN, Sylvia Lydia (nee Dufort) February 17, 1933 - March 18, 2008 Sylvia Lydia Evelyn of Calgary passed away peacefully on Tuesday, March 18, 2008 at the age of 75 years after a long battle with cancer. Sylvia was born on February 17, 1933 in Montreal, QC to Alexandre and Irene Dufort. She lived in both Montreal and Toronto before moving to Calgary in 1984. A warm out-going person, she will be greatly missed by friends and family in each city. Having to give up Great Lakes "slooping", she and Derek took up "prairie schoonering" with zest. They travelled most of North America in their motorhome and loved every minute of it, making friends at every stop! Sylvia was a happy homemaker whose greatest joy was entertaining and cooking new and challenging recipes for family and friends. A voracious reader, she also enjoyed knitting and sailing, spending weeks aboard the family yacht or helping to build Toronto's Bluffer's Park Yacht Club literally from the water-line up. Her greatest vacation was a truly idyllic bareboat charter in the Caribbean with Derek as skipper and she as sole crew. Sylvia is survived by her loving husband of almost fifty years, Derek Edward Todd Evelyn; two sons, Alexander Todd and Edward Stuart, both of Toronto; her brother, Jean-Guy Dufort and sister-in-law Christiane Dufour, of Montreal; brother-in-law Trevor Evelyn and sister-in-law Sandra Evelyn, of Nanaimo. She also leaves behind three nieces Marie-Eve Dufort, Terri Ann Evelyn and Kimberly Evelyn. GREGUS, Paul - Beloved husband of Mrs. Carolyn Gregus, passed away after a lengthy illness at the Foothills Hospital on Monday, March 3, 2008, at the age of 60 years. PEARMAN, Lieutenant Commander (ret.) Richard Alistair - Valiantly lost the final battle to cancer on March 18, 2008.
