MOULTON, DOREEN AVIS - Mrs. Doreen Avis (nee Yeomans) Moulton, wife of Donald P. Moulton of Saint John passed away peacefully at her home on March 17th, 2008 surrounded by her loving family. In addition to her husband Donald, she is survived by her daughters, Kathryn (Stan) Moulton Gray of Florida, and Heather Moulton of Saint John; her mother, Shirley Yeomans of Plaster Rock; sisters Sandra (Gary) Harding of Plaster Rock and Patti Yeomans (John) of Saint John; grand children, Victoria, Austin, and Taylor, several nieces and nephews, and her little dog, Maggie. She was predeceased by her father Henry Yeomans. Resting at Castle "Fallsview" Funeral Home, 309 Lancaster Ave., (634-1701). GALLANT, PHILLIP JOSEPH - 81, Grand Bay - Westfield, passed away peacefully on Monday March 17th, 2008, at Centracare, Saint John. Born on May 26th, 1926, in Piusville, P.E.I., he was the son of the late Mary and Joseph Gallant. Phillip was a veteran of WWII, serving in the Canadian Army. He spent the greater part of his life as a woodsman in the Grand Bay - Westfield area. He was the last surviving member of his immediate family. Phillip was predeceased by brothers, John, Willie, Clarence, Albin and sister, Rosie DesRoche. Catherine M. Cook 1926 - 2008 Mrs. Catherine (Kay) Mary Cook, wife of the late Albert (Ab) Cook of Wellington St, Miramichi, passed away at the age of 81. Born in Neguac, she was the daughter of the late Eugene and Mary Breau. She is survived by two sons, Kenny (Louise) Cook, Gerald (Mamie) Cook both of Fredericton, NB; two daughters, Brenda (Danny) Williams and Joanne (Jimmy) Lamkey both of Miramichi, NB; two sisters, Edna Breau of Miramichi, Olive (Medley) Robichaud of Saint Wilfred; one brother, Anselme (Evelyn) Breau of Neguac; Nine grandchildren, Jennifer, Joni, Michael, Jeffery, Lesley, Matthew, Patrick, John and Julie; seven great grandchildren, Abbie, Ryan, Leah, Thomas, Reese, Lauren and Karlyn; as well as several nieces and nephews. Besides her parents, she was predeceased by her daughter, Sharon and one brother, George. Mrs. Catherine M. Cook is resting at Maher's Funeral Home, Miramichi, NB on Wednesday, March 19th from 2-4pm & 7-9pm. Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Thursday, March 20th at 11am from St Michael's Basilica, Miramichi with Fr. John Fraser officiating. Frank D. Gallagher 1920-2008 Au Centre des Anciens Combaattants Vétérans Ridgewood à Saint-Jean, N.-B., le mardi 19 mars 2007, à l'âge de 87 ans, est décédé Frank D. Gallagher, domicilié au Centre mais autrefois de Moncton. Né à Toronto le 29 mai 1920, il était le fils de feu Richard et Marion (Todd) Gallagher. Il était un ancien combattant de la seconde guerre mondiale, un agent d'assurance-vie et amateur de radio (VE9TEX). Connu comme "Tex" par ses amis, il aimait la musique "Dixieland" et le "Big Band Jazz". Il laisse dans le deuil cinq enfants: Brenda Turner (Tim) et Dale Hamm (Nathan) d' Edmonton, AB, Julie MacLean (Neil) de Saint John, Donald (Leona) de Stouffville, ON, Paul de Toronto; une soeur, Barbara Gallagher de Dallas, Texas; sept petits-enfants, trois arrière petits-enfants et sa ancienne épouse, Doris (Simpson). Il est précédé dans la tombe par son épouse, Noella (Vinet); sa soeur, Gertrude; ainsi que deux frères: Richard et Harold. La dépouille mortelle est exposée au salon funéraire Frenette, 88, rue Church à Moncton (858-1900). Les funérailles auront lieu le mardi 25 mars à 14h en l'église St. Bernard à Moncton. HALSEY, Norman - of Belleville, passed away on Tuesday, March 18th, 2008, in his 86th year. Norman is survived by his wife, Mavis (Tucker), and by his children, Richard (Seona) Halsey, of Picton, and Janice (Jim) Hendrie, of Manitoba. He is also survived by four grandchildren and two great grandchildren, and by one sister Gladys (the late Ernie) Palmer, and by one brother Arthur ( the late Mary) Halsey. He was predeceased by his parents, Victor and Rosina Halsey, and by six sisters and two brothers: Rose Halsey; Winnie (Warpy) O'Brien; Doris Edwards (Bill); Lillian Cook (Henry); Florence Hales (Allan); Gwendolyn Crawford (Bill); Victor (Laura) Halsey; and Harry (Patricia) Halsey, who all lived in the Belleville area except Vic, who lived for many years in B.C. Wally is the son of the late John Peter & Mary (Meerhaeghe) Van Kerkhoven. Deeply loved by wife Judy (nee Rose). He will always be remembered as an awesome and loving Dad by his daughters Deb Van Kerkhoven, Kelly Emery and son-in-law Mark Emery. Proud Papa of Jon-Codee, Tanner, Cassidy and Kyle Emery. Favorite brother of Harvey & wife Jeannette. Son-in-law of Margaret & the late Harry Rose. Brother-in-law of Betty and Roy Anderson and Carman and Shirley Rose. PATTERSON, Mr. Shirley Gordon - of Wallaceburg, passed away on Saturday, March 15, 2008 at the Chatham-Kent Health Alliance “Sydenham Campus“, in Wallaceburg at the age of 86. Shirley was in Wallaceburg and was a son of the late Gordon P.“Pat“ and Mary Josephine (Kieran) Patterson. He was a former owner of the family Chrysler Dealership in Wallaceburg “Patterson Motors“. Shirley was a member of the St. James Anglican Church, in Wallaceburg. He was a charter member of the Wallaceburg Optimist Club and Wallaceburg Power Squadron. A member of the Royal Canadian Legion Branch 18 in Wallaceburg, the Pnyx Lodge, Mocha Temple and the Royal Canadian Naval Association. Shirley dedicated his life to his country during WWll and served as a lieutenant in the R.C.N.V.R. seeing action in the North Atlantic and the English Channel. Shirley also served on the Wallaceburg Public School Board, the Wallaceburg Planning Committee, the Sydenham Valley Conservation Authority and Chrysler Canada Ltd. Dealer Council. In 1983 Shirley was given the award of Wallaceburg Citizen of the Year. In 1996 he was inducted into the Wallaceburg Sports Hall of Fame. Beloved husband of Peggy (Smith) Patterson. Dear father and father-in-law of David and Bonnie Patterson of Wallaceburg and Jane and Paul Gilles of Mississauga. Loving grandfather of Melissa, Brad, Laura, Daniel and Mark. MCGOLDRICK, DOROTHY SILVERDORE - died on Sunday March 16th, 2008, gently and peacefully in her new home at the Kings Way Care Centre, Quispamsis where she was tenderly and compassionately cared for. Born on April 3rd, 1923 to the late Charles and Ethel (Logan) Williams, Dorothy is survived by her son, Richard; two daughters, Patricia (James) Hebb and Cathy Anthony; one brother, Charles Williams (Augustine); sister, Shirley Williams; sisters-in-law, Alma Williams, Kathleen Mabee and Loretta Moyer and brother-in-law, David McGoldrick; eight grandchildren; ten great-grandchildren and several nieces and nephews. Besides her parents, Dorothy is predeceased by husband, Walter; son, Russell James; brother, Garnett Williams; sister, Olive Peer and stepbrothers, Homer and James Moyer. Dorothy lived most of her life on the West Side of Saint John, and in later years lived in Grand Bay/Westfield. Dorothy was an Anglican by faith and had a deep spirituality, with family being central to her life. She was a loving wife, mother, grandmother and great-grandmother, who will be greatly missed. KREBES, William 1932 - 2008 William (Bill) passed away peacefully at the Southwood Hospice this past Monday, March 17, 2008. He is predeceased by one brother and a sister. Remaining family members include four brothers: Rudolph, Emil, Andy (Donna) and John (Donna) as well as four nephews and three nieces. Bill was born in North Star in the Peace River country on October 29, then moved on to obtain a degree in chemical engineering at the University of AB in l957. He held a number of positions throughout his career, residing in Montreal, Drayton Valley, Weyburn, Libya and finally Calgary. His membership at Silver Springs Golf Club was his second home. Winter activities in his more active years included curling, square dancing and playing bridge. MELGRAVE, Marion Eugene August 4, 1927 - March 16, 2008 Marion Eugene (Thompson) Melgrave died March 16, 2008, in Wetaskiwin, Alberta. She was born on August 4, 1927 in Olds, Alberta, the second of five daughters of William (Bill) John and Pearl Thompson. Marion graduated from the University of Alberta Nursing School on May 3, 1952, and had a rewarding nursing career in Alberta, B.C., and California. She received a Bedside Nursing Award in recognition of her kind and gentle spirit, truly caring for those she nursed. Marion is survived by her children, Cheryl (Dan) DeWolf of Wetaskiwin, Marilyn Hall of Seattle, and Benjamin Melgrave, of Calgary, and her three grandchildren, Tim DeWolf, Sarah DeWolf, and Angie Hall. She is also survived by three sisters and their families, Phyllis Thompson, Dorothy (Tony) DeGrood, and Barbara Blackburn. Although Marion spent most of her life in Calgary, Alberta, she lived in Wetaskiwin in recent years, near her eldest daughter, Cheryl, who helped care for her after Marion suffered a brain aneurysm and several strokes. Marion will be fondly remembered for her lively sense of humor, vibrant beauty, and kind and generous nature. SINGLETON, Iris Edith (nee Short) July 24, 1929 - March 16, 2008 Iris Edith Singleton, beloved sister, aunt and friend of Calgary, passed away on Sunday, March 16, 2008 at the age of 78 years. Iris was born in London, England on July 24, 1929. She was a proud veteran having served in the Queen Alexandra Royal Army Nursing Corps in Malaysia. She was also a member of the Royal Canadian Legion. She decided to immigrate to Canada in 1965, first settling in St. Albert then Vancouver and finally moving closer to her family in Calgary. Iris had a kind heart and shared stories of her youth and time in the war with warmth and laughter. She enjoyed her books and needlework, waiting every July for the latest release of Harry Potter. She enjoyed her garden and time with family and friends. Iris is survived by her brother John (Kitty) Short of England; Lee (Bev) Mason; Mark (Brenda) Mason; Fiona (Warren) Bedell; as well as her great-nieces Kyra and Jenna. Un non-fumeur, Roger a lutté bravement contre le cancer du poumon pendant 28 mois. Il laisse son épouse bien-aimée et sa meilleure amie, Denise (Leroux); ses enfants: Chantal (Jeff McNab), Alain (Mariange Mayer) et Eric (Angela Lavictoire) ainsi que ses princesses: Rachel, Katherine, Chanelle, Anne-Marie, Valerie et Gabrielle et son petit prince Samuel. Frère d'Yvette (Gilbert Gauthier), Rhéal (Nicole Lamarche) et Gaston (Hélène Ménard), il fut prédécédé par sa soeur Rollande. Suivant sa carrière de 30 ans comme comptable agréé à Ottawa, Roger et Denise ont répondu à l'appel du Seigneur en mission au Mexique. Roger a consacré les derniers 18 ans à enseigner la parole de Dieu, à nourrir et à envoyer à l'école, des centaines d'enfants mexicains. Son coeur est demeuré au Mexique même après son retour à Ottawa pour des raisons de santé. Son oeuvre continue à travers des mexicains qu'il a formés et conseillés. DICKISON, Jean M. (nee Brown) October 14, 1932 - March 16, 2008 Jean passed away gently in Calgary on March 16, 2008 after facing cancer with the same dignity and courage she demonstrated throughout her life. Her loving husband Don was at her side. Jean was born and raised in Kingston, Jamaica and she always maintained her love for her island home. A love which was reflected in her beautiful garden, her passion for life and her love for, and devotion to, her family. She will be wholeheartedly missed by her brothers, sisters, nieces and nephews, as well as her husband Don, her daughters Debbie and Sandi, and her adopted sons Kevin and Brian. She was loved, and will be remembered affectionately, by her grandchildren Nicole, Anna, Madison and Jonah as their precious "Gi-Gi". Jean will always reside in the hearts of her family and friends. To know her was to love her. JACKSON, Walter Alexander March 14, 1917 - March 16, 2008 Walter was born March 14, 1917 at Bonnie Doon Farm, Cheadle, AB, and passed away at the Rockyview Hospital March 16, 2008 at the age of 91 years. In 1951 Walt married Fanny Tomilin and they were blessed with daughter Laura in 1954. They farmed in the Nightingale and Cheadle areas until 1981 when they sold their farm and moved to Calgary, settling into their lovely home in Lake Bonavista. They enjoyed retirement and were very involved with the square and round dancing community, where many new, lifelong friendships were forged. They also spent many happy hours in their beautiful garden. Walt was predeceased by his beloved wife Fanny and daughter Laura who was the "apple of his eye"; also by parents George and May Jackson, stepmother Aunt Renie Jackson, and brothers Emory and Robert Jackson. Walter is survived by grandchildren Breena Anderson and Craig Anderson, son-in-law Doug Anderson, sister Margaret Jones, and many nieces, nephews and friends. Walt will be remembered as a kind and gentle fun loving man. MOORE, Elsie January 24, 1911 - March 17, 2008 Elsie Moore, mother, grandmother, great-grandmother and wonderful friend, passed away peacefully on Monday, March 17, 2008 in her 98th year.
