FARRELL, John "Jack" 1919 - 2008 Mr. John "Jack" Farrell of Calgary, formerly of Carstairs, passed away peacefully at the George Boyack Care Centre in Calgary on Thursday, February 21, 2008 at the age of 88 years. Jack will be lovingly remembered by his wife Irene; and his four sons, Bob (Emily), Harvey (Debbie), Wayne (Kelly), all of Calgary, Gerald of Kamloops, BC; one daughter, Coleen, of Edmonton; and his late son Everett's wife Doris Liddle; and their families. Also left to cherish his memory are two brothers, Clarence (Della) of Carstairs; Len (Wendy) of Kelowna, BC; and one sister Margaret (Allan) Graham of Strathmore, as well as his extended family: Eleanor Travis of Calgary; Edgar (Sandra) Barsi of Edmonton; Edwin (Darlene) Barsi of St. Paul. A Funeral Service for the late John "Jack" Farrell will be held at the Carstairs Community Hall, Lackner Way (south end of 10 Avenue - Main Street), Carstairs, Alberta at 11:00 a.m. on Wednesday, March 5, 2008. LEA, Hazel H. "Toni" (nee Waddington) March 6, 1919 - February 28, 2008 Hazel H. "Toni" Lea, beloved wife of Dr. C. Spencer Lea of Calgary, passed away peacefully at the Father Lacombe Care Centre on Thursday, February 28, 2008 at the age of 88 years. Toni was born in Toronto, ON on March 6, 1919. Her education involved schooling in Toronto finishing at Havergal College. On October 31, 1941 she married Dr. C. Spencer Lea in Toronto. Together they moved to Calgary in 1945 where they have been residents ever since. Toni enjoyed bowling at the Glencoe Club. She was a record-keeper at horse shows where she developed many friendships. Needlework afforded her many hours of pleasure, the results of which she generously gave away. Toni is deeply loved by her family and she will be missed by all. Besides her loving husband Dr. C. Spencer Lea, Toni is survived by her children, son Brent Roger Lea and his wife Cecilia of Revelstoke, BC, and daughter Mary Elizabeth Stone of Calgary; four grandchildren, Heather Lea, Cindy Lea, Gregory Stone, and Jacqueline Stone; and numerous other relatives and friends. She was predeceased by her brother Stanley Waddington and sister Cicely Long. LEECH, Blanche Fern (nee Johnson) 1915 - 2008 The family of Blanche Fern Leech are sad to announce her passing on Wednesday, February 27, 2008 at the age of 92. Blanche was predeceased by her dear husband Cliff in 1990. She is survived by her daughter, Glenda Graham and husband Doug, her son Gary Leach and wife Patricia as well as her dearly loved grandchildren Blake, Mark, Emily, Sarah, Caitlin and Silken and many friends and extended family. Descended from hardy pioneer stock, Blanche was born in Winnipeg in 1915 and grew up in Saskatchewan where she eventually graduated from the Normal School and became a teacher. Following the Second World War she married Cliff, a young RCMP officer and together they lived in many small towns on the prairies eventually moving to Calgary in 1959. Blanche dedicated herself to raising her family and, in retirement, spending her time travelling with Cliff and friends to warmer climes. Blanche will be sadly missed by her family and friends. McCOOK, Grant November 30, 1935 - February 25, 2008 Grant McCook of Calgary passed away on Monday, February 25, 2008 at the age of 72 years. Grant was born and raised in Calgary, AB. He worked for LaFarge Canada Inc. for many years. His best years were spent living in the country with his beloved horses and dog. Grant's last years were spent at the Sunnyhill Wellness Centre, where he was treated with both respect and dignity. Grant is survived by his sister Joyce Schuyler; his brother Larry (Arlene) McCook; his special niece Wendy Main; and many other nieces and nephews. HOLLYWOOD, Helen Joan (nee Scott) - after a lengthy illness, Helen passed away in the wee hours in the Renfrew Victoria Hospital, on Wednesday, February 27, 2008 at the age of 87 years. Born in Kingston, Ontario, predeceased by her parents, Charles and Gertrude Scott (nee Dinnue); and siblings Lillian Reason, Marie Young, Ethel Gooderham and Victor Scott. Predeceased by her husband Kenneth, Helen is survived by her children Victor Hollywood (wife Wanda), Petawawa; Sandra Bessette, St. Thomas; Robert Hollywood (wife Barbara), Renfrew; and Helen Graham, Hamilton. MORONEY, Matthew “Matt“ - In loving memory of Matthew “Matt“ Moroney, 80 years, who passed away Wednesday, February 27th, 2008 at the Sudbury Regional Hospital - Memorial Site. BALL, Robert (Bob) Harvey January 1, 1929 - February 28, 2008 Bob died at home on Thursday morning, in the tender care of his family. He was loved beyond telling by his wife and sweetheart Janet (nee Morrow), five grateful children, Timothy (d. 1984), David, Anna Gardner (John Brocke), Doug, and Nathan (Paula Kilcoyne), as well as fifteen beautiful grandchildren, two newly born great-grandchildren, and by the hundreds whose lives he touched. Born and raised in Regina, Bob will be profoundly missed by his older siblings from Saskatchewan and their extended families: Margaret Blommaert, Jim Ball and Fran Apperly. Graduating from Scott Collegiate with Honours, Bob began an agricultural degree at University of Saskatoon before he followed a deeper call to sow seeds of the spirit and till soil in the lives of people. After marrying Janet in 1952 he worked the gold mines in Yellowknife, NWT and as a Fuller Brush salesman to put himself through seminary at McMaster University in Hamilton, ON. As a Home Missions pastor with the Canadian Baptist Union, Bob grew and nurtured young churches in the towns of Kitimat and Richmond, BC, and Jasper, AB. He established an innovative summer outreach program for college students working in Jasper and during his term on the pastoral team at First Baptist Church, Calgary (1971 to 1976) he founded the Burning Bush Coffeehouse which grew into the well-known Mustard Seed Ministry for street people. Inspired in part by staying as a family in a chalet at L'Abri in Switzerland in 1969, Bob began dreaming and envisioning along with Janet, about creating a hospitality-based ecumenical renewal centre. King's Fold Retreat, located in the foothills of the Rockies, celebrates its thirtieth anniversary this year and continues to be a place of beauty, peace and deep inspiration for people from all walks of life. Bob was a master stained glass artist, a visionary, an entrepreneur, a dreamer, a passionate gardener, a traveler, a romantic, a barista, and a lover of life par excellence. PEPPARD, Earl Douglas "Doug" PEPPARD, Earl Douglas "Doug" - 65, Debert, died February 27, 2008, at home, surrounded by his family. He was born in Great Village on July 19, 1942. He was a son of the late William V. and Minnie (MacKenzie) Peppard. Dad worked several years at M.P. Crowell's but spent most of his career in the carpentry trade. He worked at Kent Homes for many years, finishing his career with Dan MacKay Construction. This was his favourite job and Dad truly enjoyed going to work each day. He felt very fortunate to be employed by Dan, a great boss and close friend. Dad had a passion for golf, crossword puzzles, reading books, carpentry, the Toronto Maple Leafs, and lobster! He was well-known for his beautiful garden and wood pile. Dad's greatest pride was his family. He truly was an honourable man and will be greatly missed by his family and friends. He is survived by his wife, Iris (Adams); daughters, Cindy Ryan (Patrick), Shelly MacInnis (Timothy), Sharron Ryan (Terry), all of Debert; Shirley Cooke (Brent), Great Village; Sonya Barnhill (Randy), Debert; son, Michael, Debert. He was a dear Papa to his grandchildren, Connor and Christopher Ryan, Nathan and Jonathan MacInnis, Nicole and Natalie Ryan, Jessica Reid, Julie and Bradley Cooke, Carlie Barnhill, and stepgranddaughters, Christa and Courtney Barnhill. Also survivng are his sister, Shirley Smith, Great Village; brother, Vernon (Joyce), Kanata, Ont.; brother-in-law, Ron Richards, Thunder Bay, Ont., and many nieces and nephews. Dad is also survived by his close friends and golf partners, Gerry Dykens, Layne Hayward, and Ron Eastcott. We thank them, and Dan MacKay, for their thoughtfulness and friendship these past few years. Dad was predeceased by his sister, Gwennie Richards, and brother-in-law, Donnie Smith. MacMILLAN, Florence MacMILLAN, Florence - 81, St. Vincent's Nursing Home, Halifax, passed away Tuesday, February 26, 2008, in the Halifax Infirmary, QEII, of complications from pneumonia. Born in St. Ninian, Inverness Co., she was a daughter of the late Donald and Florence (MacEachern) MacMillan. Florence was employed at the Victoria General Hospital in Halifax for 32 years prior to retirement. She is survived by brothers, Hugh, Port Hood; John Alec (Tena), Mabou; half-brothers Neil (Sheila), Malcolm (Marilyn), Toronto, Ont.; John Willie (Beverley), half-sister-in-law, Gen, Port Hawkesbury; also many nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by sisters, Mary Ann, Annie Farrell; sisters-in-law, Mary and Martha; brothers, Andrew, Alexander; brother-in-law, Otto; half-sisters, Christina, Jean; half- brother, Angus. No visitation by request. Cremation has taken place. A memorial service will be held in the Chapel in St. Vincent's Nursing Home, 2080 Windsor St., Halifax, today at 9:30 a.m., Rev. Albert Cosgrove officiating. Reception to follow. A funeral mass will be held in St. Peter's Church, Port Hood, on Saturday at 11 a.m. Burial following in St. Peter's Cemetery. Family flowers only, donations may be made to St. Vincent's Nursing Home Recreation Department. Thank you to all the staff and her friends at St. Vincent's for the love, support and friendship over the years.

MUISE, Joseph A. "Bennie" MUISE, Joseph A. "Bennie" - 78, Mayflower, died February 27, 2008, at home, after a courageous battle with cancer. Born in Surette's Island, he was a son of the late Louis and Ursele (Surette) Muise. He is survived by his wife, Pauline Muise, Mayflower; sons, Mark (Paulette), Mavillette; Peter (Donnalee), Yarmouth; Paul (Kim), Wellington; daughter, Claudette (Scott) Kennedy, Fall River; brothers, John, Gerald, both of Yarmouth; Edward, Pubnico; sisters, Rita Beltrim, Kingston, Ont.; Irene Amirault, Lynnfield, Mass., and grandchildren, Mila, Sara, Samuel, Shannon, and Jacob. He was predeceased by his brother, Laurent, and sisters, Julia, Marion, and Evelyn. Visitation will be held today from 2-4 and 7-9 p.m. in Meteghan Funeral Home. The funeral will be 11 a.m. Saturday in St. Vincent de Paul Church, Salmon River, Rev. Albeni d'Entremont officiating. Interment in the parish cemetery. Donations may be made to the Victorian Order of Nurses or the Ostomy Association, South West Nova Scotia Chapter.
