HARVEY, RUBY ELIONA It is with sadness that we announce the passing of Ruby Eliona Harvey, wife of the late Roy Harvey, on February 17th, 2008 at her home in Marysville. Born on May 11th, 1914 in Woodlands, NB, Ruby was the daughter of the late Otis and Lottie (Jones) Pond and a member of the St. Andrews Presbyterian Church, Fredericton, NB. With one brother and the eldest of six sisters, Ruby assumed a Mothering role at a very young age. Always a hard worker, she began her working career by assisting her father to drive mail in Woodlands. Subsequent employment included the Stanley telephone office, Marysville Cotton Mill, Buzzells Cleaners, Hartt Boat & Shoe Factory and the K-Mart where she was employed as a seamstress. Leisure time was spent tending to her garden, her flowers, knitting, crocheting and sewing. Ruby is survived by one son, Everett (Colleen); two granddaughters, Leanne and Laurel Harvey; four sisters, Glenna Pollock of Dartmouth, NS, Roberta Willet (Murray) of Brooklin, ON, Della Donovan of Woodstock, NB and Leota Henderson of Stanley, NB; several nieces and nephews and special friends & caregivers, Kim and Cathy. Besides her husband and parents, Ruby was predeceased by two brothers, Cecil Pond and infant brother, James; three sisters, Greta Cookson, infant sisters, Freda and Barbara. Visitation will take place at York Funeral Home, 302 Brookside Drive, Fredericton, NB on Tuesday from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 pm. A Funeral Service will be held on Wednesday, February 20th, 2008 at 2 pm from York Funeral Home's T. Gordon MacLeod Memorial Chapel with Rev. Doug Blaikie officiating and Rev. Kimberly Barlow assisting. Interment will take place in the Saint Peters Presbyterian Church Cemetery, Stanley, NB at a later date. In lieu of flowers, remembrances made to the Canadian Red Cross, Extra Mural Program (Fredericton Unit) or the Saint Peters Presbyterian Church Cemetery would be appreciated by the family. MACPHEE, Mathias Ludger It is with great sadness the family announces the passing of Ludger (Les) after a long struggle, he went peacefully in his sleep, on Saturday, February 16, 2008, at McMaster University Medical Centre in Hamilton, Ontario. Left to mourn is his beloved wife of 47 years, Grace (nee Summerhayes). Loving father to Diane Burbine (predeceased), Michael and Patty and her husband John Edington. REICHERT, Elly - Peacefully at Valley Park Lodge, Niagara Falls, on Saturday, February 16, 2008 in her 102nd year. Loving wife of the late Hans Reichert, mother of Tony and his wife Donna, of Fonthill, Ursula and her husband Tito Ostojic, of Kitchener and Lilo and her husband Duncan Rose, of Glace Bay, Nova Scotia. TURPLE, Clarence "Clarie" TURPLE, Clarence "Clarie" - Bible Hill, formerly from Elmsdale, passed away in Colchester Regional Hospital, Truro, Sunday, February 17, 2008, evening at 8:15 p.m., with his wife, Mary by his side. He was a son of the late William and Hazel (Phillips) Turple, Admiral Rock. Clarie worked in the paving business for 50 years, the last 25 years with Lafarge in Kearney Lake. Clarie retired in 1998 and in 1999 Lafarge honoured him with a dinner and dance, presenting him with an engraved gold watch. His wife Mary, was given a sterling silver broach. Clarie and Mary moved to Bible Hill in 2000. Clarie was very popular and very well respected in Truro and Bible Hill. He was always helping anyone who needed him. He was an avid bowler. He and Mary were great dancers especially their Band Special Blend. Clarie was a great supporter of the Legion, Branch No. 26. He was on the housing committee, entertainment and decorating committee. He leaves to mourn his wife, Mary of 52 years; daughter, Sharon (John); grandchildren, Charles and Justin White, Urbania; daughter, Cathy (Bob) Entwistle, Truro; son, Stephen (Karen); grandchildren, Hillary and Zachary Turple, Comox, B.C.; daughter, Cindy (Chris) Gidney, Dartmouth; brother, Skip (Jean), Bridgewater; sister, Ruth King, Lantz. He was predeceased by son, William John, at age five years; four sisters and four brothers. Visitation 2-4 and 7-9 p.m. today in Mattatall Funeral Home, 55 Young St., Truro. The Royal Canadian Legion Branch No. 26, Truro, will conduct a tribute service at the funeral home at 2 p.m. Thursday, immediately followed by the funeral service, with Rev. Born in Perth, Scotland, Helen immigrated to Canada as the war bride of Clarence Olson. He predeceased her on March 4/88. Paul A. Bourque 1918-2008 Au Centre de Santé des Anciens Combattants, le mardi 19 février 2008, est décédé à l'âge de 89 ans, Paul A. Bourque, domicilié au Centre de Santé des Anciens Combattants, mais autrefois de Donovan Terrace à Moncton. Né le 30 octobre 1918 à Bouctouche, il était fils de feu Méthote et Marie (Cormier) Bourque. Un ancien combattant pendant la deuxième guerre mondiale, il était avec les forces de l'armée canadienne Princess Louise Dragoons Guards en Italie et en France. Paul était un entrepreneur. Il a dévelopé les appartements Pallissade, le village Maple Grove, ainsi que plusieurs autres maisons dans la région de Moncton. Il était membre du club curling Beauséjour Inc. à Moncton et le club Boishébert à Shédiac. Survived by his loving wife of sixty-four years, Jean; daughters, Linda Dawne Taylor (Kamloops) and Leslie Thompson (Calgary); grandson, Jonathan Thompson (Calgary); his sister, Elizabeth Pike and niece Robena (Bob) Hill (all of Edmonton); and sister-in-law Marion Scott (Mount Albert, ON) and her family. Al was born in Edmonton on June 9, 1917, graduated from the University of Alberta in 1946, and spent many years working in the oil field. He was a Life Member of APEGGA, the Al Azhar Temple and the Gizeh Temple of the Shriners, as well as a member of the Devonian Botanic Garden and the Royal Horticultural Society of London, England. In 1980, Al and Jean retired to their dream home near Okanagan Falls, BC. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to the Parkinson's Association or the Devonian Botanic Garden at the University of Alberta. GREIG, Shirley Ann April 1947 - February 13, 2008 Shirley passed away suddenly February 13, 2008. She was predeceased by her parents Eddie and Dolly Greig and now sadly missed by her brother Pudge (Eddie and Judy), her sister Dee Dee (Darlene Smith), and her nephew Greg and Deanna Smith. She lived her whole life in the Ogden area and was usually seen in the company of her little buddies - Carley, Casey, and MoJo. She will be deeply missed by her best friends Barb and Pauline, her neighbors, many friends, and relatives. She had been a member of the Ogden Legion for forty years. SIKORSKI, Anthony "Tony" June 5, 1924 - February 16, 2008 Anthony passed away peacefully at his home on February 16, 2008 at the age of 83 years. Tony is the loving husband of wife Eva, the loving father of four children Dave (Deb), John, Larry (Deborah) and Linda and the grandfather of four grandchildren David, Breanna, Stephanie and Eric as well as many other friends and relatives in Canada and Europe. Tony proudly served as a Lieutenant Corporal in the Polish Armed Forces under the British 8th Army. He has been a devoted member of the Polish Combatants Association and was a long time volunteer for the poppy fund. Tony came to Canada in 1946 where he worked on a farm near Rimbey, Alberta. On October 20, 1951 Tony married his wife Eva in Calgary, Alberta. Tony found employment with Canadian Pacific Railway from May 24, 1954 till he retired on October 1, 1988. Tony was born in Koscierzyna Gdaskie, Poland and received his Canadian citizenship on August 7, 1958. Laurie E. (Pete) Petley, CD 1934 - 2008 Of Carrot Creek, AB and formerly of Harcourt, NB, passed away Tuesday, February 12th, 2008 at the Edson Hospital with special friends at his side. Born in March 1934, he was the son of the late William and Bertha (Betts) Petley. Besides his parents, he was pre- deceased by three brothers, Earl, Carman, and Carl and two sisters, Jessie Walsh and Bertie Petley. Survived by one brother, Everett (Kay), two sisters, Gloria Anderson and Donna (Grant) Lockhart; also several nieces and nephews. Laurie joined the RCAF at an early age and served 28 years in that service. During his service, he had three tours of duty with NATO in Germany. He was awarded the Canadian Decoration and the NATO medal for his service. After his discharge, he settled in rural Carrot Creek with his pets and among local wild animals. He was an avid hunter and fisherman, and his home and buildings were decorated with trophy antlers and filled with sporting gear. Laurie will be greatly missed by his family members, relatives and by others who knew him well. Cremation will take place in Alberta. February 19, 2008

Earl E. Walsh 1920-2008 GALLOWAY, NB - Earl Walsh, 87, passed away on February, 16, 2008 at the Stella Maris Hospital, Ste. Anne, after a brief illness. Born in Galloway, NB, on September 30, 1920, he was the son of the late Michael and Catherine (Kennedy) Walsh. Earl retired from the Department of Transportation in 1985 and was a Farmer. McGILL, Cecil David Jr. - Of Welland, peacefully, at the Woolcott Wing, Welland Hospital on Sunday, February 17, 2008, in his 82nd year. Cherished and devoted husband for 47 years to the late Arlean McGill (nee Minor). Beloved father of Linda Belaire (Brett) and Janet Bott (Michael), all of Welland. Much loved grandfather of Jessica and Melyssa Belaire and Kaitlyn, Mariah and Meagan Bott. Loving brother of Wilfred “Trigger” McGill (Anne) of Fenwick and Robert McGill of London. Very special brother-in-law of Margaret and Jack Galbraith. He will be sadly missed by a number of nieces and nephews. Also predeceased by parents Cecil and Maude McGill Sr., brothers Kenneth and Howard McGill and nephew Drew Galbraith. Born in St. Catharines, Cecil moved to Welland in 1943. He was employed as a sales representative with the former Arvay Stationery and then Welland Printing, retiring in 1993 after some 40 years of service. Cecil was an active member of St. Matthews Lutheran Church and was the church treasurer for over 30 years. As well he was a long time volunteer of the Woolcott Wing, winning the NHS Volunteer of the Year award in 2006. Friends are invited to visit the family at the H. L. GRANT, George Evert 1923-2008 - The family announces with deep sadness his death at the Timmins and District Hospital on Saturday February 16, 2008 at the age of 84 years. OERTON, Christine M. - Her incandescent smile dimmed forever on Friday, February 15, 2008 after a brave fight with cancer. Christine was the devoted mother of Colin, wife Elizabeth and grandchildren Santorri, Miles and Sydney of Philadelphia; Kevin, wife Andrea and grandchild Taylor of Waterloo; and Lisa, husband Patrick and grandchild Coral of Innisfil. Born in Cleveland in 1942, she came to Canada in 1963, moving to Timmins in 1965. In Timmins, she became an active member of the community, serving as President of the Timmins Real Estate Board from 1988 to 1989; President of the Kinette Club; recipient of the Heidelberg Award for Dedication to the Community, and a director of the Chamber of Commerce. Christine moved to Toronto in 1996, where she made many more friends, and became actively involved in the annual Weekend to End Breast Cancer. Her many friends will remember her shining smile, her generosity of spirit, her steadfast support of those in need, her sense of humor, her boundless energy and unending optimism. AMADEO, Louis 2008-02-18 Mr. Louis Amadeo, age 86, a resident of Clarkson Ave. Thunder Bay, passed away unexpectedly at home on Saturday February 16th, 2008. Louie was born on March 20th, 1921 in Port Arthur, son of the late Frank and Nunciatta Amadeo. Louie‘s life was devoted to his music, which led him to meet his future wife at a dance he was performing at in 1951. It was there he met his love to be Dorothy (nee Kohler). They married in 1953 and raised two sons, Barry and Brian. He was employed at Provincial Paper for 33 years until his retirement in January of 1984. He was a member of the Mill‘s Quarter Century Club as well as the Loyal Order of the Moose Local 947 for over 50 years. He was also a lifetime member of Local 591 Musicians Union. He enjoyed 23 years of retirement doing what he loved best, playing music. He first picked up a guitar when he was fourteen years old and had not stopped playing since. In the 1950‘s and 60‘s he played in all the local nightclubs. From there he led his own band, “The Ambassadors”. For the last twenty years he played with the Happy Elders Band which played at the 55 Plus Centre as well as all the Senior Homes. For his last three years he also enjoyed playing with the Elk‘s Clown Band which played Wednesday evenings at the Senior Homes. He was involved in many other activities such as bowling and golf, but dedicated most of his time to the care of his son Barry. He is survived by his wife of 54 years Dorothy, sons Barry and Brian (Janice) and his grandchildren Jordan and Katie, as well as many nieces, nephews, brother-in-laws and sister-in-laws. He was predeceased by his parents Frank and Nunciatta, his brothers Maurice, Joseph, James, Fred, Peter, Serrafino and Mel, his sisters Mary Lepere and Immaculate Bozzo and his half brother Basil Madeo. Funeral Services for the late Mr. Louie Amadeo will be held on Wednesday February 20th, 2008 at 1:00 PM in the Chapel of the HARBOURVIEW FUNERAL CENTRE, 499 North Cumberland Street, officiated by Fr. Alan Campeau. Visitation will be held one hour prior to service time. If friends so desire, in lieu of flowers, they may make donations in Louie‘s memory to the heart and Stroke Foundation, the Canadian Cancer Society, or to the Sleeping Giant Ostomy Group.

BUTLER (Cosgrove), Aileen Ann BUTLER (Cosgrove), Aileen Ann - 82, Tantallon, passed away peacefully in Glades Nursing Home on February 15, 2008, following a prolonged illness. Her husband was at her side. Born in Halifax, she was the youngest daughter of the late William and Mary (Flinn) Cosgrove. She was a graduate of St. Patrick's High School and Halifax Business College and worked in her early years as a secretary at the Nova Scotia Savings and Loan Company. A stay-at-home mom, she was a passionate wife, mother and grandmother, and committed her keen intellect and joy for living to the education, protection and care of her beloved husband and family. She loved the company of little children as well as an enduring fascination with poetry, reading and music. She leaves an immeasurable gap in our lives. Aileen was a very proud Nova Scotian, and continually rejoiced at the good fortune of raising her family in this beautiful province, and enjoyed many happy summers at our cottage at St. Margaret's Bay and hobby farm in North Kingston. She is survived by her devoted husband of 58 years, Robert; children, Gregory (Alison) Butler, Canning; Bernard (Denyse) Butler, Charlottetown, P.E.I.; Rosemary (Mark) Butler-Cuming, Halifax; Ian, Tantallon; grandchildren, Matthew, Toronto, Ont.; Rebecca, Halifax; Jonathan, Kingston, Ont.; Jeremy, Halifax; Meghan, Charlottetown; Daniel, Toronto; and Jordan, Halifax, as well as numerous nephews and nieces in Halifax and Ottawa, and her eldest sister, Camilla, Ottawa. She was predeceased by her brother, Edward Cosgrove (Halifax), and sister, Ruth Fogarty (Dartmouth). The family wishes to express our heartfelt thanks for the exemplary care given to both our mother and father during this difficult year by the staff on floor 9, Abbie J. Lane Memorial Building, 7.3, Halifax Infirmary and 4A, Centennial Building, VG Site, QEII. We couldn't have asked for more. At Aileen's request, cremation has taken place and there was no visitation.
