CUTCLIFFE, Helen Anita (nee Lynds) The death occurred on Friday, February 15, 2008, at the Queen Elizabeth Hospital of H. Anita Cutcliffe (nee Lynds) of Charlottetown, age 74. Dear mother of Blair (Sheila), Doug (Lisa), Paul (Mary) and Jean. Anita is also survived by her grandchildren Mitch, Meagan, Jamie, Ellen; great-grandson, Caiden; and her brother, Corday (Marg) Armstrong. She was predeceased by her parents, Ed and Ruby (Stewart) Lynds; maternal mother, Carolyn Armstrong; infant daughter, Brenda Lea and her brothers Don Armstrong and Stewart Macklin. Resting at the Cutcliffe Funeral Home until Tuesday morning, then transferred to Trinity United Church for funeral service at 10:30 a.m. Interment later in the family plot in Floral Hills Memorial Gardens. LAHAIE, Gilbert Clement 2008-02-19 It is with great sadness that the family of Gilbert Lahaie announce his peaceful passing on Friday, February 15, 2008 at Thunder Bay Regional Health Sciences Center after a brief but courageous battle with cancer. Gilbert was born on December 8, 1955 in Sioux Lookout, Ontario. He was a heavy equipment mechanic and worked at various mines in Ontario, most recently Lac Des Iles near Armstrong. He also had a great love for fishing and the outdoors. He leaves behind his loving wife Debra (nee Van De Spiegle); daughters Crystal (fiancée Joe Essiembre), Tara (Val Hansen) and Cassandra; siblings Blanche Murphy, Marie (Ted) Brezinski, Ed (Cathy), Louise, and Robert (Sherry); sister-in-law Mary (Ray) Isfeld; step- father Pat Fenlon. Also survived by in-laws Ellie and Camille Van De Spiegle, Richard Van De Spiegle, Ronald Van De Spiegle and Norman and Janice Van De Spiegle. Numerous nieces nephews and other relatives also survive. He is predeceased by his parents Avila Lahaie and Verna (nee Thibert) Lahaie Fenelon; brother Andy Lahaie and nephew Kevin Lahaie. A memorial service for Mr. Gilbert Lahaie will be held on Saturday, February 23, 2008 at 1:00 P.M. at Northwoods Motor Inn, Ignace, Ontario, with Rev. Brian Eschbach officiating. ANTILLA (nee: Toews), Katherine "Kay" 2008-02-19 Mrs. Kay Antilla peacefully went home to be with her Lord and Saviour Jesus on Thursday, February 14, 2008 at Grandview Lodge. She lived for many years in the family home on Lillie Street, and recently at Paterson Court. Born on September 12, 1920 in Hasket, Manitoba, Kay worked in Winkler Hospital before moving to work at the paper mill in Dryden. It was here she met Uno and on October 23, 1948 in Fort William, they were married. Kay worked for a short time as a Red Cross homemaker and many years as a foster Mom, caring for many, many children. She loved to spend time visiting with her family, friends and relatives. Her favorite pastimes included baking, reading and letter writing. She attended Redwood Park Alliance Church for over 40 years. Kay is survived by her husband of almost 60 years, Uno, children, Sandra (Norman) Saraka, Dan (Susan), and David (Betty) and foster daughter Sharon (Roy) Roberts, 11 grandchildren and 5 great-grandchildren. Also surviving are her sisters, Mary, Anna and Betty and brother Harry as well as many nieces, nephews and cousins. Kay was predeceased by her parents, brother Jake and sisters Sadie, Agatha and Erna. Visitation for family and friends will be held on Monday February 18, 2008 from 7:00-8:30 p.m. at Jenkens Funeral Home. The funeral service for Mrs. Kay Antilla will be held Tuesday February 19, 2008 at 11:00a.m. in Jenkens Funeral Home. Interment to follow in Sunset Memorial Gardens. MURPHY, Stanley Stewart "Pat" MURPHY, Stanley Stewart "Pat" - 88, Halifax/Bass River, passed away Saturday, February 16, 2008, in the Halifax Infirmary, QEII. Born in Bass River, he was a son of the late William and Annie (Clarke) Murphy. He was a veteran of the Second World War and served as a sergeant in the Royal Air Force. After returning home, he attended Dalhousie University and completed his B.Sc. and a degree in pharmacy. Stanley then went on to work for Health and Welfare Canada as Regional Supervisor. He enjoyed life and the company of others. Stanley's sense of humour was contagious. He loved to play and listen to "old time" music. He is survived by daughter, Debbie McGloan (Mark), Calgary; sister, Willena Wilkie, Ottawa; several nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by his wife, Christina (Wilkie); sisters, Dorothy Foote and Edith Lemoine. Cremation has taken place under the direction of Cruikshank's Halifax Funeral Home. A private family interment will be held at a later date. Donations in memory of Stan may be made to the Canadian Cancer Society.

As our little fighter was forced to arrive much earlier than he should have, we knew that the beginning of his life would be a great struggle. Although our sweet little boy managed to stay with us for only 31 hours, we have never known such love and appreciation as in that short time. HAGGINS-LAPP, Phyllis 1936 - 2008 - Phyllis Haggins-Lapp passed away suddenly on February 12th at only 71 years old. Phyllis was best known in the community of Comox Valley, British Columbia as the Welcome Wagon Lady. Phyllis will be deeply missed by her husband, David Henry Lapp of BC and her daughter & friend, Andrea Corae Bracken. Phyllis will be lovingly remembered by her sons: Kelly & Kevin Cassidy and her granddaughter, Christina Cassidy. Nanny will surely be missed by the grandsons she was so proud of: Matthew John Meija and Jeffery Howard Meija. She is also survived by her sisters: Kay Campbell, Barbara Grant, Roberta McLean (nee Haggins) and her brothers: Neville, Andrew and Wayne Haggins, who reside in Ontario and were born in Owen Sound. Phyllis was born in Owen Sound and resided in Kitchener-Waterloo for many years. Having resided in the Comox Valley on Vancouver Island for the past 15 years, Phyllis loved this beautiful community and bloomed in her position as a Welcome Wagon Representative. In 2006, she was presented with an award for outstanding performance and community service. Phyllis lived her life with confidence and energy. TAYLOR, Roy Garnet TAYLOR, Roy Garnet - 61, Chaswood, went home to be with Jesus on Sunday morning, February 17, 2008, in the Palliative Care Unit, VG Site, QEII, after a courageous battle with strokes and cancer. Born in Rotterdam, Holland, in 1946, he was the oldest son of Connie Taylor, Chaswood, and the late Frank W. Taylor. In his early years, he worked for his father, founder and owner of Taylor Lumber Company, and in later years, took over ownership with his brothers, Robert and Brent. He loved the outdoors, and took special pride in his fish pond, landscaping his yard with trees and flowers, as well as providing fresh vegetables from his garden for his family and neighbours. Most important in his life, next to his family, was his Lord and Saviour Jesus Christ. Even during the hard times, his faith shone through. Along with his beloved mother, Connie, Roy is survived by his loving wife of 37 years, Linda; daughters, Tara (Chris) Risser, Chaswood; Amanda and Angela, Moncton, N.B.; son, Mark (Debbie), Chaswood; grandchildren, Shanda and Austin Taylor, Shelby, Jared and Matthew Risser, all of Chaswood; Jeremy Bourque, Miramichi, N.B.; brothers, Robert (Eva), Chaswood; Frank, British Columbia; sisters, Caroline (Bruce) Clark, Dartmouth; Sandra Taylor, Bedford; along with many loving nieces and nephews. ALLISON, Maurice Clarke ALLISON, Maurice Clarke - 73, Upper Hammonds Plains, passed away peacefully at home after a courageous battle with cancer. Born in Upper Hammonds Plains, he was a son of the late Alonzo and Oravella (Oliver) Allison, and foster parents Stanford and Jessie (Stevens) Allison. In his early years he worked at the cooper shop and the lumber mill in Upper Hammonds Plains, and as a construction worker on Citadel Hill. He was then employed as a welder with the Nova Scotia Department of Highways for 29 years. Maurice was one of the founding members of the Upper Hammonds Plains Volunteer Fire Department (first all black Fire Department in Canada). He held various positions within the fire department, including Chief. Under his leadership, the extension to the fire hall facilities was completed and a Junior Fire Department was established. Maurice was a member of Emmanuel Baptist Church, where he was a previous member of the Brotherhood and the Voices of Praise choir. He loved hunting and fishing, fixing, building and collecting many items. He will be remembered for his willingness to help others, and as an avid fan of boxing and wrestling. We will miss his easygoing, friendly and generous personality. Elle était la tendre épouse de feu Lionel Séguin; la fille bien-aimée de feu Philias Blondin et de feu Emma Cadieux; la chère mère de Françoise (Duilio Marmai), Roger (Carmen Hiladi), Francine (Gilles Lamarre) et Gérald (Nicole Péladeau); la grand-mère bien-aimée de six petits-enfants: Stéphane et Mylène Marmai, Luc et Josée Lamarre, Julien et Étienne Séguin et de neuf arrière-petits-enfants. Outre ses enfants, petits-enfants et arrière-petits-enfants, lui survivent deux soeurs: Jeanne (feu Albert Themens) et Alice (feu René Carrière); deux belles-soeurs: Rollande (feu Léo Séguin) et Alexina (feu René Séguin), ainsi que de nombreux neveux et nièces. Elle fut prédécédée par deux frères: Henri (feu Lauriette Lajeunesse) et Rolland (Estelle Potvin); deux soeurs: Eva (feu Olida Taillon) et Blanche (feu Rodolphe Gagné). Nous nous souviendrons de son sourire, sa joie de vivre et sa grande générosité envers tous. DUTKA, Doris (Dibb) 1923 - 2008 Doris Dutka - wife, sister, mother, grandmother, musician and friend - has gone Home, bravely battling a vascular ailment until February 15, 2008. Doris Dibb was a true Alberta girl. Born in Castor on November 12, 1923, she spent her early years alongside her dear sister Una (Teskey) in Huxley, and then Black Diamond. Una and Doris spent hours together at the piano. Escaping melodies often caught the ear of a young engineer named Rudy Dutka, who would walk past the Dibb house on his way to work. After a short courtship, Rudy married his "pretty blue eyes" in July of 1945. They launched life together in Wainwright, then Taber, where they welcomed their first daughter Diane (Dan) Swiatek. The Dutka family relocated to Calgary, where daughters Catherine (Bruce) Jespersen and Christie (Robyn) Foret arrived. In an email age, Doris remained dedicated to written correspondence. 2008 marked her seventieth year in touch with Australian pen pal George Freeman. For more than thirty years, Doris shared a bench with Una at Piano Group. The duo recorded more than one hundred and ten duets. Doris' favourite piece was Gluch's "Gavotte." Much like her treasured Steinway piano, Doris proved beauty, boldness and strength could emanate from a small frame, especially following Rudy's passing in 2005. Along with her sister, daughters and their husbands, Doris is adored and survived by her sister-in-law Lillian Lowell, and her grandchildren Liam, Taryn, Ben, Ryan, Kyle, Megan, Jonas, Morgan, Taylor and Avery. Her legacy of faith, love, humility and grace lives on. Doris' family offers heartfelt gratitude to Drs. Petrasek, Appoo and Godinez and their extraordinary team. DORVAL, Jacob Raymond 2008-02-19 Mr. Jacob Raymond Dorval aged 91 years, a resident of Thunder Bay Ontario, passed away peacefully at Grandview Lodge on Sunday Feb. 17, 2008 with his loving family at his side. Jake was born in Quebec City Nov. 6, 1916. As a young child he moved with his family to Ponteix Sask., and grew up on a farm in that community. During the Depression, as a young man, Jake rode the rails looking for work and ended up in Fort William, Ontario. There he worked at Canada Car and soon met the love of his life, Denise Chenier. They married Apr. 10, 1944 and moved back to Ponteix for a short time. In 1947 they moved to Schreiber Ont. with their young family, where Jake owned and operated a garage. In 1952 they moved back to Fort William and Jake continued his career as a mechanic, first at Dominion Motors, then at Canadian Tire and other locations until his retirement in 1981. Jake was a dedicated and involved member of his church community. He was a 4th Degree Knight of Columbus, member of the Father Baxter Assembly and Fort William Council #1447. Jake was a loving and committed husband to ’Mudder‘ for 64 years. He was an exemplary role model, and as parents he and Denise were honoured by his peers at the Knights of Columbus with a ’Family Of The Year‘ award in 1999. As a father of 11 children, our Dad tirelessly devoted his life to providing for his family. Each of his children treasures their own special memories of their dad. Grandpa was deeply loved by his 20 grandchildren and 15 great-grandchildren.Jake is survived by Denise his loving wife of 64 years; his children Denis (Karen) Toronto, Connie (Larry) Bureyko Thunder Bay, Anne (Jim) Cryderman Thunder Bay, Helen (Rick) Bragnalo Thunder Bay, Betsy (Chuck) Regehr Calgary, Ray Thunder Bay, Susan (Steve Taylor) Wilmington N.C., Michael (Lila) Thunder Bay, Loretta (Rob) Montgomery Thunder Bay; his brothers Joseph, Phil, sister Elizabeth Gendron (Roger). Jake was predeceased by his parents Odilon and Annie, by his son Richard in infancy, daughter Madeleine Robb in 1989, and infant great-grandson Stephen Daniel Gorst in 2000. Funeral services will be held on Wed. Feb 20, 2008, when family and friends will gather for the funeral mass at St. Patrick‘s Cathedral at 10:00 am celebrated by Reverend Msgr. P.M. Stilla VG. Interment will follow at Mountain View Cemetery. Vigil prayers will be offered on Tuesday evening at 7pm at St. Patrick‘s Cathedral. ALLAN, J. Nelson - F.C.M.A. August 4, 1913 - February 7, 2008 - Nelson was still a work in progress when the Lord took him unto Himself. Beloved husband of the late Iris Helena (October 2004) and Willowmine May (May 1989), Nelson leaves the gift of many happy memories in the hearts of his daughter, Starr Bell of R.R. 1, Warsaw, son Gary Allan (deceased) of Burlington and his wife Laima. He will live in the hearts of his four grandchildren and great-grandchildren; Tricia (Matt McGuane, Ben), Gavin Bell, Shannon (Jim Morreale, Hannah and Matthew) and Krista (Ray Loya, Alexander). Nelson, through his marriage to Helen, gained a loving extended family. He will be fondly remembered by her daughter Heather VanDrie (William) of Brighton, Barbara Matthews (Victor, deceased) of Kingston, and her son Dr. Robert Orr (Sue) of Orangeville. Dear brother of Dorothy (Walter Kilby) of Mount Hope and the late Herb, Alvin, Mildred, Alberta and Helen. Also missed by many nieces and nephews. For 30 years prior to his retirement in 1975, Nelson was the Executive Vice President of the Society of Industrial Cost Accountants of Canada, and for 25 of those years he also served as Secretary Treasurer of The Society of Industrial Cost Accountants of Ontario (now call The Society of Management Accountants). Nelson was also active in a number of community groups such as the Children's Aid Society, the Hamilton District Health Council and the Ontario Research Council. Upon his retirement, he continued his interest in community work. he organized and became the first Manager of DARTS, the first Executive Director of the St. Joseph's Hospital Foundation, Treasurer of the Council on Road Trauma, and President of the Alzheimer Society of Hamilton- Wentworth. His memberships included: the Rotary Club of Hamilton, Canadian Club of Hamilton, Probus Club of Burlington and Burlington Baptist Church. He received many honours including: The Centennial Medal (1967), First-ever Fellow, Society of Management Accountants (1976), The Queen Silver Anniversary Medal (1977), the Governor General's Caring Canadian Award (2000). Cremation has taken place. A Service of Remembrance was held at Burlington Baptist Church, 2225 New Street, Burlington, on Wednesday, February 13, 2008, at 2pm. BISCI, Antonietta (Riganelli) - Passed away unexpectedly at home with members of her family beside her, Sunday, February 17, 2008; aged 78 years. Beloved wife of the Silvio. Loving mother of Rosina (Alan), Gino (Marisa) and Frank (Carmen). Grandmother of Sara, Christina, Mark and Isabella. Sister of Rita Patrick (Joseph), Nick (Marisa) and Gino (Lucy). Sister-in-law of Ida (Neno). Zia to many nieces and nephews. Predeceased by her parents Caterina Grillini and Francesco Riganelli and her brothers Mario and Neno. Antonietta was born into a farming family in Cerretto D'Esi, Italy. After the suffering and destruction that they experienced in their town during the Second World War, she, her parents and siblings sought a new life of peace and well being in Canada. During the first years, she and her family worked in the vineyards and fruit farm of Nicola Pataracchia on Lakeshore Rd. in St. Catharines. In 1955, she married Silvio and moved to Toronto where they raised their family. In Toronto, she was employed for several years at National Grocer and later worked for a company that assembled appliances. She was a life-long member of St. Charles Borromeo Parish and a 20 year member of the Columbus Center. During most of her adult life, Antonietta suffered with depression. Due to her willingness to do all within her means to improve her own health, the tremendous support of family members and friends, and the care of some wonderful doctors, she lived a full life. She was a deeply loving wife, mother and grandmother who took enormous pleasure in her family. Antonietta and Silvio demonstrated throughout their lives the importance of caring, of perseverance, faith in what appears to be impossible and quiet hard work. Antonietta will be greatly missed by all who knew her.
