Beloved wife of the late Frederick Ellis. LANDRIGAN, Robert James LANDRIGAN, Robert James - 48, Delta, B.C., formerly of Halifax, died in hospital on February 15, 2008. Rob leaves behind his wife and best friend, Daisy (Panesar), and their cherished daughters, Rachel Jessica (11) and Kelly Jean (8). Also left to grieve are his parents, Paul and Mary Landrigan, Halifax; siblings, Blair (Vicki), Deep River, Ont.; Gary (Janet), Burlington, Vt.; Glenna (John Jenkins), Lunenburg; Mark, Vancouver, B.C.; Janet, Halifax, and David (Hayley Clarke), Halifax. Rob also leaves behind his in-laws, Sadhu and Jagir Panesar; brothers-in-law, Harj (Deb) Panesar and Bal (Anjula) Panesar, Delta, B.C., and sister-in-law, Rav Panesar, Vancouver, B.C. Rob will be greatly missed by his nieces and nephews, Hillary and Matthew Landrigan, Krista, Nicholas and Gordon Landrigan, Jackie, Morgan, Sandy and Martha Jenkins, Jennifer, Katelyn, Stefanie Panesar, Natasha and Rhea Panesar, and many aunts, uncles and cousins. From his first steps, it was evident that Rob was a gifted athlete. Through the years, Rob excelled at hockey, soccer, baseball, basketball, and made innumerable friendships that have lasted through the years. A number of universities sought his considerable talents, but Rob chose St. Francis Xavier, where he starred on the university's hockey team and played varsity soccer to keep in shape for hockey. He also earned the moniker "Party Artie" for his considerable extracurricular activities. After graduating with a Bachelor of Commerce degree, Rob moved to the west coast where he began his career as a manufacturer's representative for Johnson & Johnson and GE Health and further expanded his network of friends. Rob met Daisy, the love of his life, in a karate class in 1990. They married five years later and began their family together. Rob's greatest gift and crowning achievement was his beautiful girls. He was a wonderful father, active in his daughters' many school activities, and dedicated countless hours coaching their ringette, soccer and baseball teams. He shared with them his sense of adventure and zest for life, as well as his love of fantasy, especially for the escapades of Harry Potter. Over these past three years, Rob waged a courageous battle with cancer. Through this difficult time he remained an adoring father, a devoted husband, a faithful son, a loving brother and brother-in-law, and a generous friend. He mastered the art of living in and for the moment and created more happy memories since his diagnosis than anyone could accomplish in a lifetime. Rob's family would like to thank Jim Brown, Kevin Cameron, Mike Foster and the many other exceptional friends who supported Rob and his family through these difficult years. A celebration of Rob's life took place at the Northview Golf and Country Club, Surrey, B.C., at 2 p.m. Sunday, February 17, and a funeral service is being planned for St. Thomas Aquinas in Halifax on Saturday, March 22. SCOTT, Yolanda 2008-02-19 It is with great sadness we announce the passing of Yolanda “Lundy” Scott peacefully at home with her family at her side, after a lengthy illness on Saturday, February 16, 2008. Lundy is survived by her loving husband, Alfred, her children Donald MacLeod (Cora) of Toronto, Ontario, Robert MacLeod (Onlee), of Edson, Alberta, Janet Packulak (Fred), of Fisher Branch, Manitoba, and Tim MacLeod (Sherry) of Winnipeg, Manitoba, her sister Marie Atwood and brother John Taddeo (Della). Lundy has 16 grandchildren Ian, Megan, Kevin (Corrine), Heather (Jason), Scott, Caila, Brieanne, Reegan, Nikki, Timothy, Jamie, Jocelyn, Tyler, Cassandra, Charissa, and Christopher. Lundy was predeceased by her parents, Carmela and Nick Taddeo, her sister Louise Calder and brothers in law Duncan Calder and William Atwood. Lundy was born in Ignace, Ontario. As a young adult Lundy later moved to Fort William, Ontario and attended Selkirk High School. Lundy, several years later met Al and together worked selflessly to raise their family. Lundy and Al then went on to work together in Real Estate, upon which Lundy went on to become one of Thunder Bay‘s most successful Realtors of which she was very proud. Aside from her Real Estate career, Lundy thoroughly enjoyed the special times with her family. All who knew Lundy will fondly remember her infectious laughter and what a pleasure it was to be around her.Funeral services will be held on Wednesday, February 20, 2008 when family and friends will gather for the Funeral Mass in Holy Family Church at 11:00am celebrated by Rev. Alex Barrion. Services will be complete in the church with cremation to follow. Private interment of ashes will be in Mountain View Cemetery. Visitation will be on Tuesday evening from 6:00 – 9:00pm with Vigil prayers offered at 8:00pm in the Blake Funeral Chapel. In lieu of flowers memorials to the Northern Cancer Research Foundation would be appreciated. A tree will be planted in memory of Lundy Scott in the Blake Funeral Chapel Memorial Grove. SINCLAIR, James Robert SINCLAIR, James Robert - 45, West River Station, passed away peacefully in Aberdeen Hospital on February 16, 2008. Surviving are his wife, Gail (Stewart); children, Brittani, James, Derek, Teri, (Jason), Louis (Krista), and granddaughter, Hayden (White); sisters, Donna; nieces, Kaylee, Brooke, and Karen; nephews, Travis and Lucas Jackson. Jim was predeceased by his parents, Robert and Elizabeth (Betty) (Roddick), and paternal aunt, Margie. Up to his illness, Jim had been employed as a driver with Pictou County Chad Bus - a job he enjoyed everyday. A gathering to celebrate his life will be held at 2 p.m. in Gairloch Presbyterian Church on Wednesday, February 20, with Rev. Charles McPherson officiating. No flowers by request, donations may be made in aid of Canadian Diabetes Association. WIGGINS, Donald James 2008-02-19 It is with deepest sorrow that we announce the passing of Donald James Wiggins who passed away peacefully with his family by his side on February 17th 2008. Don was born November 14, 1926, in Ochre River, Manitoba. He moved to Thunder Bay where he met the love of his life Marilyn to whom he was married for 52 years. Don worked for the CP Railroad from 1952-1969 then at the Fort William Gardens retiring in 1992. Don was a quiet man and an avid reader, and loved spending time with his grandchildren. Don also enjoyed going camping, fishing and hunting with his family and friends at Hawkeye Lake, Pigeon River and later at Amber Lite Campgrounds. He also enjoyed curling with the EZ DUZ IT Curlers Club, and was a life time member of the Royal Canadian Legion Branch 225, Kakabeka. Don will be sadly missed by his wife Marilyn, and sons Gary (Sophie), David (Carole), daughter Jennifer Howie (Jeff), grandchildren Jerry James (JJ), Stephanie, Alex, Jordyn, and Cayleigh and sisters Corlie and Doris of B.C. Don was predeceased by his son Kevin, his parents Corlie and Alec, sister Heather and brothers Wally and Mervin. A memorial service to celebrate Don‘s life will be held at First Church United, on the corner of Brock and Ford Streets at 11:00 am Thursday, February 21st. Cremation has taken place and Don will be laid to rest with his son in Mountain View Cemetery at a later date. She was a daughter of the late George L. and Edith G. (Sawler) West. She was born in Ross Corner, Kings Co., and later moved to Grafton with her family. She attended school in Grafton and traveled to Berwick to complete her education there. Ruth and her husband Bob operated a dairy and apple farm in Grafton until moving to Berwick in 1969. Ruth was always an active member of her church and community. In her later years, she resided in Fundy Villa and Grand View Manor, Berwick. Surviving are daughters, Elizabeth Hamilton, Lunenburg; Cathy (Robert) Foley, Centreville; grandsons, Bobby Foley, Nicholsville; Craig Foley, Kentville; sister, Jessie West, Cambridge Station. HUME, Robert I. HUME, Robert I. - 75, Dartmouth, passed away February 15, 2008, at home after a two year battle with cancer. He was a son of the late Ronald and Carrie (Nickerson) Hume. During his career, he held various senior level positions in the Nova Scotia Department of Finance. After his retirement he utilized his skills as a woodworker to fashion fine furniture. Robert was a founding member of the Dartmouth (now Maritime) Marksmen Association. He enjoyed fishing and playing golf. He particularly enjoyed his lifetime activities as a musician with various local orchestras and bands, and as a director of Dartmouth Senior Service Centre Orchestra from formation to 1988, and well as a long-time member and secretary-treasurer of Dartmouth Concert Band until his passing. He is survived by his wife, Linda Spidell; daughter, Stephanie; son, David; sister, Betty, Musquodboit; brothers, Albert, New Brunswick; Brian, New Glasgow; grandchildren, Nicole, William, Elizabeth, Cassandra, all of Dartmouth. MacINNIS, Howard MacINNIS, Howard - It is with deep sorrow we announce the passing of Howard MacInnis, age 86, Sydney, on February 16, 2008, in Cape Breton Regional Hospital. He was a son of the late Sadie (Livingstone) and James MacInnis of Sydney, and was predeceased by brothers, James, Russell, Wilbert, Donald, Gordon, and sister, Marie Dalton. He is survived by his loving wife of 59 years, Kathleen (Hadley), and daughters, Peggy (Gerry Jackman), Halifax, and Bonnie (Rene Mabon), Winnipeg. Howard was predeceased by his eldest daughter, Faye Walkey (Calgary). He was a loving Papa to grandchildren, Matthew and Meagan Walkey, Calgary; Michel, David and Nicholas Mabon, Winnipeg. He was a veteran of the Second World War, and served with the 8th Hussars (Princess Louise's), 5th Armoured Regiment in the tank corps. He fought in Italy, Belgium, and Holland. Howard was a member of Branch 128 Royal Canadian Legion, Whitney Pier. He was employed at Sydney Steel as a roller in the blooming mill and retired after 43 years of service. Howard spent many happy days during retirement at his summer home in Port Shoreham, Guysborough Co. He will be fondly remembered by all who knew him as a gentle, caring man with a great smile and a love of sports, especially hockey. A memorial service will be held on Saturday, February 23, at 2 p.m. in Trinity United Church, Whitney Pier, where he was a life long member. Memorials may be made to the Palliative Care Unit of Cape Breton Regional Hospital or Trinity United Church Memorial Fund.

CARRUTHERS, Gary Neil - Gary Neil Carruthers ended his battle with cancer at the age of 57 years on February 15, 2008 at Laurentian Hospital, surrounded by loving family and friends. Gary leaves behind his beloved “Princess“ Patricia (Evanshen), daughters Kathryn, Karli Timpano (husband Carlo), both of Barrie and step-sons Curtis Deredin (Bathhurst,NB) and Philip Deredin of Sudbury. Proud and loving Grampa of Ethan and Mason Timpano. His presence will be sorely missed by his constant furry companion, Majik. Predeceased by parents Agnes and Elmer Carruthers of Copper Cliff. Sadly missed by his step-mother Grace Carruthers also of Copper Cliff. Cherished grandpa of Kayla & Leah Aelick of Hanmer, Bailey & Denver Bertrand of Stoney Creek. Brother of Dick (predeceased) & wife Gertrude, Bob (predeceased) & wife Doris, John (predeceased) & wife Marion and Nola Golder. He will be sadly missed and fondly remembered by many nieces and nephews. After retiring from INCO (with 35 years), Cliff's greatest joy was spending time with his wife & family. He enjoyed laughter. He loved his cottage on Mackie Bay, Manitoulin Island in the summer, taking long walks and enjoying nature. In the winter he love skidooing, especially when speed was involved. He touched the hearts of many people who knew him. At the request of Cliff “Tuff“ there will be no visitation or funeral service. COSMAN, Richard Edwin "Rick" COSMAN, Richard Edwin "Rick" - C.W.O., Retired. Passed away in Kingston, Ont., on Saturday, February 16, 2008, at the age of 56, after a short struggle with cancer. Born in Weymouth, Rick enjoyed life, especially his 33 years in the Canadian Armed Forces. He will be woefully missed by his loving wife, Rosanne; daughter, Krista; son, Keith, and grandson, Jack. He was predeceased by his mother and father, Alma and Malcolm, and is survived by sisters, Gail of Pleasantville; Colleen of Shelburne, Marianne of Mahone Bay, Joanne of Hammonds Plains, and his brother, Stephen of Rexton, N.B. MITCHELL, Glenn Fredrick Gillis 2008-02-19 Mr. Glenn Fredrick Gillis Mitchell, age 53 years, of Thunder Bay, passed away unexpectedly in the Thunder Bay Regional Health Sciences on Saturday, February 16th, 2008. Glenn was born in Port Arthur on August 20, 1954 in the Port Arthur General Hospital. At the age of 16 Glenn started working at Jacobson Lumber and held various other jobs until he started at his current employer, Western Supplies almost 32 years ago. His hobbies and interests included going to the family camp at Crow Lake, Dorion, watching NASCAR and the Toronto Maple Leafs, keeping up the yard, and lending a helping hand whenever needed. Glenn was an avid golfer and always looked forward to his weekly golf game at Bayview Golf Course in Pass Lake. Glenn will be sadly missed by his loving wife Linda; sons: James and Glenn; sisters: Mimsy (Tim) and Ellen; brother Ken; nephews: Eric, Gavin and Steven; niece Ashley; father-in-law Don Coulter; and sister-in-law Sandra Coulter. Numerous aunts; uncles; and cousins in Canada and Scotland also survive. Glenn was predeceased by his parents Anita Sund & James (Scotty) Mitchell; and mother-in-law Lavilla Coulter. HUMPHREY, Basil Donald 2008-02-19 Mr. Basil Donald Humphrey age 85 years, a resident of Thunder Bay passed away unexpectedly at the T.B.R.H.S.C on Thursday, February 14, 2008. Born in Winnipeg, M.B., Basil moved to Thunder Bay with his wife Dorothy in 1945 following his service in the Royal Canadian Navy. He was a member of the Kiwanis Club of Thunder Bay, the Port Arthur Curling Club, the Associated Canadian Travellers and the Royal Canadian Legion Branch #5. Basil enjoyed sponsoring Port Arthur Minor Hockey and Junior Golf in the city. He was the founder and owner of Humphrey Sanitation which has been in operation for over 40 years. Basil will be lovingly remembered by his wife Dorothy, sons Don (Kris), and Mark, grandchildren Joseph, Jesse, Lily, Jason, Matthew and Michael, sisters Dorothy, Jean and Cindy (Don). Born in Relva, Sao Miguel, Azores, Portugal, she came to Canada with her 3 children to be with her husband in 1971. She worked as a seamstress at Tee Kay‘s Apparel and Food Services at Lakehead University. Her main interests were her family, Portuguese music, poetry, crochet and traveling back to her beloved Azores. She was a member of St. Andrew‘s Roman Catholic Church, St. Anthony‘s Roman Catholic Church and was a member of the C.W.L. Maria is survived by her children Aldina, Rosa & Emanuel; her loving grandchildren whom she adored Michael, Kimberlee, Blair, Daniel and Deanna; sons-in-law Americo & Kevin; daughter-in-law Sherry; brothers Alvaro, Herinque, Carlos & Gabriel; sister Lucia; brother-in-law- Jose; sisters-in-law Maria, Celizia, Odilia, Olivia, Grace, Lurdes and many nieces, nephews and cousins all of whom were very special to Maria. She was a wonderful woman, mother and grandmother who will be missed by all whom had their lives touched by her kind smile and big heart. Born in Halifax on September 16,1932, she was the daughter of the late Fernando Llorens and Mildred (Mickey) Coldwell Llorens. She was predeceased by her husband and friend of 54 years, Donald Victor, and her brother, Tom Llorens (Myrtle Creek, Ore.). A resident of Nova Scotia all her life, she was employed as a laboratory technologist at the Windsor hospitals for 30 years. After her retirement she enjoyed reading, gardening, rug hooking, camping and the company of friends. She is survived by her children, Janis (Vince) Zral, Calgary; Susan Parker, Falmouth, and Donald C. Lockhart (Sharon Muir), Calgary; grandchildren, Marcy (Peter Holliday), Vanessa Zral, Donella and Devon Lockhart, and great-grandchildren Abby Schofield and Emily Holliday. She is also survived by her cousins, Kathryn Mosher Forsythe, Charlottetown, P.E.I.; Brenda Coldwell Ivie, St. Louis, Mo.; Maria Espinosa, Havana, Cuba; Barbara Coldwell Johnson and Peter Coldwell, as well as her cherished sisters-in-law, Irma, Olla, Helena, Gwen and Paulie. She considered her children and friends to be her greatest blessing. Her remains have been donated to the Faculty of Medicine, Dalhousie University, Halifax. WADE, James William WADE, James William - In his 72nd year, passed away in Roseway Hospital, Sandy Point, Shelburne Co., on February 15, 2008. He was a resident of Swim's Point, Cape Sable Island. Born in St. John, N.B., he was a son of the late Captain James W. Wade Sr. and Florence L. Mingo. Jim is survived by aunt, Ellen (Mrs. Ron Bell); his spouse, Teresa Robertson; sons, Thomas, Anthony James, and Michael; daughters, Tracy and Vanessa; eight grandchildren.
