Laurier Villeneuve, époux de feu dame Noëlla Gagné et fils de feu Mme Estelle Tremblay et de feu M. Ludger Villeneuve, demeurant chemin St-Pierre à Laterrière. La famille accueillera les parents et ami(e)s le mardi, 12 février 2008 de 14 h à 17 h et de 19 h à 22 h et le mercredi, 13 février 2008 de 9 h à 10 h 45 à l'Alliance funéraire du Royaume Résidence Laterrière 1000 rue du Boulevard, Laterrière Les funérailles auront lieu le mercredi, 13 février 2008 à 11 h à l'église Notre-Dame de Laterrière. Il sera incinéré au crématorium de l'Alliance funéraire du Royaume et les cendres seront inhumées au cimetière de Ste-Anne. Il laisse dans le deuil ses enfants: Bernard Villeneuve (Lucienne Fortin), Sylvain (Lise Simard), feu Herlène, Diane (Daniel Girard), Robert (Caroline Poitras), Jacques (Magalie Gaudreault) et France (Pierre Tremblay); ses petits-enfants: Valérie, Marc, Pierre, Steeve, Patrick, Dave, Martin, Jean-Yves, Herlène, Sabrina, Keven, Karinne, Jessica, Frédéric et Jérémie; ses arrière-petits-enfants: Daphnée, Pénélope, Jonathan, Florence, Marianne,Thomas, Léo, Rose, Simon, Tommy et Thomas. Il était le frère de: feu Gustave Villeneuve (feu Jeannine Gagné), feu Fernand (Thérèse Duchesne), Léon-Maurice (Thérèse Couture), feu Alain (Fleurette Tremblay), Yvon (Lise Duchesne), Marcel (Lucienne Gauthier), Noëlla (André Savard), Ghislaine (Normand Maltais), et Julien dit «bébÉ» (Jovette Simard); ses beaux-frères et belles-soeurs: feu Bertrand Gagné, feu Jeannine (feu Jean-Baptiste Fillion), Rosaire (Nicole Gagné), Claude (Claudine Garand), et feu Henriette Émond. Il laisse également dans le deuil de nombreux neveux, nièces, parents et ami(e)s. Ron Vanthul June 14, 1960 - February 04, 2008 It is with great sadness to announce the sudden passing of our Father, grandfather and brother Ronnie at the age of 47 years. He leaves to mourn his son Shaun Hourie and grandchildren Kiara and Keyshawn. He is survived by his sisters Shirley, Sheila, Wanda, Sharon; and his brothers John and Kevin. Lena Mary Borne (née Schlichting) May 13, 1920 - February 11, 2008 Peacefully passed into the arms of her Saviour, with her beloved husband Henry and family at her side on February 7, 2008. Born in Germany, May 13th, 1920 to Martin and Elizabeth Schlichting. Lena was raised in the town of Morden, Manitoba and later, Sanford, Manitoba. Married in 1951, Lena and Henry became an integral part of the Headingley farming community. Lena is survived by her husband of 56 years, Henry. Children, Martin, David (Carol), Ruth (Rick Hall) & Hilda (Scott Grant); siblings, Ann (Dyck), Trudy (Jack Remple), Bertha (Alfred Dahl), Ella (Henry Dyck), William (Ester), Henry (Nelly), Adolf (Betty); grandchildren, Sheri, Shannon (Danny Legge), Kristen, Kimberly, Abby, Tessa; great-grandchild, Dustin and Lena's extensive extended family. Lena's interests included all family gatherings and anything to do with family. Her enjoyment of traditional hymns and her love of birds and gardening. Lena's faith in Christianity will continue on into the Lord's keeping, but her quiet, humble nature will be sorely missed by all. DELAZZER, Firmino “Joe” - Passed away peacefully at the Welland County General Hospital on Saturday February 9, 2008 at the age of 85. Beloved husband of 62 years to Jean DeLazzer. Dearly loved father of Linda Valade, Sandra DeLazzer and Joseph Anthony Delazzer. Cherished grandfather of Marcel (Donna) Valade, Stephen (Jennifer) Valade and Kyle Adam Valade. Dear brother-in-law of Mary DeLazzer, Mary (Bud) Zacharias, Lina Martignago, Carmella (Gary) Desjardins and Melvina (Richard) Walasek. Lovingly remembered by many nieces and nephews. Predeceased by his sister Ida Vendramin and her husband Guido, his brother Abe DeLazzer and his son-in-law Donald Valade. Mr. DeLazzer had worked for many years as a maintenance foreman for Ontario Hydro. He was also a founding member of Club Italia and Our Lady of the Scapular Church. DOHERTY, Joe B.E.M. - Peacefully on Friday February 8, 2008 at the Greater Niagara General Hospital in his 90th year. Beloved husband of the late Mary (2004). Loving father of Jim (the late Angela 2006) and Brian (Mavis). Devoted grandfather of Kathryn (Michael), Allison, Carolyn, Elizabeth and Susan. Very proud great- grandfather of Jessica, Rhodes and Neve. Predeceased by his brother James who was killed in action in Italy and his sister Sarah. Joe was a WWII veteran earning the British Empire Medal. He served overseas for 3 and a half years in England, France, Belgium, Holland and Germany. For 40 years Joe operated the Red and White Grocery Store in Chippawa. He was a well respected businessman. During his time in business, he was kind and compassionate helping many people over the years. MILENI, Rita - Unexpectedly on February 9th, 2008 in her 76th year. Rita is predeceased by her loving husband Joe (2006) and is survived by her loving children Joey of Florida, Tina (George) Clinton of Barrie and Michael (Arlene) of Fort Erie. CLINTON, Jack Douglas - Peacefully at home in Jordan Station, on Friday, February 8, 2008, in his 82nd year. Jack was born April 13, 1925 in Armstrong, B.C. to Thomas and Agnes Clinton. Predeceased by daughter Jaqueline Anger and her husband James. Loving husband for 60 years of Verla (nee Lethby). Father of Dwight (Dagnija), Joan (Larry) Culp, Diana (Robert) Bujas, Thomas (Heidi), James (Sandra) and Elizabeth (Steven) Mesaglio. He will be missed by 15 grandchildren, their spouses and soon-to-be 8 great grandchildren. Fondly remembered by sisters in law, Faith Clinton and Doris Foster as well as many nieces and nephews across Canada and in New York City. Jack was a valued, hard- working member of the community. He volunteered with the Jordan Fire Department and was a long-standing member with the Jordan Lions. He was a member of Maple Leaf Marksmen Rifle & Revolver Club and was its President for over 40 years. Jack was also involved with the Shooting Federation of Canada at the provincial, national and international levels. A private family service will be held followed by cremation. SADO, Wladyslawa (Gladys) - Passed away peacefully, at Versa Care Centre, St. Catharines, Ontario, on Saturday February 9, 2008 in her 92nd year. Gladys (nee Grobelska) was born near Kielce, Poland on November 10, 1916. Dear mother of Dianne and Edward (Anne). Cherished Babcia of John-Paul and Michael. Predeceased by her husband Vincent and family in Poland. Gladys devoted her life to her family after immigrating to Canada on her own in 1939. Originally settling in Sudbury where Gladys married Vincent and they started their family. They purchased a farm near Virgil, Niagara in 1946. Gladys moved to St. Catharines and held two jobs to support her family after losing her husband to cancer in 1962. She was a strong and hard working woman who lived independently until just one year ago. Gladys is resting at the GEORGE DARTE FUNERAL CHAPEL, 585 Carlton St., until Wednesday at 10:30am. Funeral Liturgy will be celebrated in Our Lady of Perpetual Help Church at 11 am with cremation to follow. Visiting hours are Tuesday 7-9 pm. Predeceased by her parents Gennarino and Ida Pelino and her sister Gilda Marchionda. Born in Pacentro, Italy, Mrs. Marchionda came to Canada settling in Welland in 1949. She was employed with the custodial staff at Canadian Tire Acceptance for 15 years retiring in 1991. Mrs. Marchionda was a faithful member of St. Augustine's Roman Catholic Church and was a longtime member of the Catholic Women's League. Lucy's life revolved around her family and friends. She generously shared her cooking and baking talent with all. LENZ, William (Bill) Robert January 6, 1947 - February 9, 2008 William (Bill) Robert Lenz, beloved husband of Glenda Lenz of Calgary, passed away with his wife by his side on Saturday, February 9, 2008 after a prolonged battle with renal disease and dialysis complications. He was 61 years old and married to Glenda for forty-two years. Prior to his long-term illness, Bill was employed as a draftsman with TransAlta Utilities, and enjoyed hiking, camping, fishing, building model airplanes, and oil painting. In his energetic years, Bill was a proactive community member, serving as a scout leader with 127th Huntington Hills Troup, an Uncle-at-Large, and a current, long-standing member of Centre Street Church. He is survived by his sons and daughters-in-law, Steve and Candace, Michael and Caroline, and his daughter, Tammy. He has five grandchildren, Jessica, Megan, Cody, Krissy and Courtney. He was predeceased by his parents, Eric and Florence Lenz; and his mother-in-law, Margaret Jean Moore, all of Calgary. GRAHAM, Beatrice "Bea" Mae July 29, 1929 - February 9, 2008 Beatrice Mae Graham, beloved wife of Pat of Calgary, passed away on Saturday, February 9, 2008 at the age of 78 years. Bea was born in Saskatoon, SK and she moved with her family to Calgary at the age of eight. She attended Western Canada High School. For many years she worked with A.G.T. as a telephone operator. Bea married Pat on January 4, 1952 and in 1970 they worked and started a self-help group (7th STEP Society) from their home and then moved to another location and started a half-way house making it into a worldwide organization. Bea enjoyed her work and helping others. Besides her loving husband Pat of fifty-six years, Bea is survived by her son Colin and daughter-in-law Noreen; sister Jean Duke all of Calgary; as well as numerous nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by her daughter Midge in 1986. Alistair was born and spent his early years in Scotland and later served in the R.A.F. as a pilot for five years during World War II. GATES, Harold LeRoy GATES, Harold LeRoy - 90, of Canning, Kings Co., passed away Saturday, February 9, 2008 in the Valley Regional Hospital, Kentville. Born on August 21, 1917 in Worcester, Mass., he was a son of the late George and Jessie (Campbell) Gates. He moved to Port Williams at a young age and following his graduation from business school, had been employed with George A. Chase Limited for five years. On June 19, 1940, he enlisted in the R.C.A.F. and served during the Second World War for four and one half years. Upon his discharge, he had been employed as an accountant with the Town of Kentville and later worked for the United Fruit Companies. In 1946, he moved to Canning and became manager of the Maple Leaf Fruit Co-operative for over 30 years. Following his retirement, he served the Village of Canning for over six years as part-time clerk. He served on the Canning Village Commission, as chair for a period of time and was a Commissioner of the Supreme Court of Nova Scotia. He was a member of the Foundation Program Committee on Educational Matters for the Province of Nova Scotia. He was a director of the Nova Scotia Vegetable and Fruit Growers Association, the Canadian Horticultural Society and was a member of the Voluntary Economic Planning Committee in both the agricultural and transportation sectors. He was a director and chair of the Kings County Council of Boy Scouts, a trustee and later chairman of the trustees of the Cornwallis District High School, Canning and also served as chair of the Kings County Municipal School Board. He served as trustee and member of the executive of the Eastern Kings Memorial Hospital, Wolfville and trustee and chair of the Canard Cemetery Company. He was a member and served on several boards and committees of First Cornwallis Baptist Church, Canard. He joined the Wolfville Curling Club in 1954, served on several committees and held the position of president. He was also a member of the Royal Canadian Legion, Habitant Branch No. 73, Canning. He is survived by a daughter, Judy Cohoon, Wolfville; a son, Paul (Ann), New Minas; grandchildren, Christopher Cohoon, Brooklyn, N.Y., and Jarred Gates, Halifax. He was predeceased by his wife of more than 63 years, the former Madalyn MacGowan. Visitation will be held from 7-9 p.m. Tuesday, February 12, with a Royal Canadian Legion service to be held at 7 p.m. in the White Family Funeral Home, Kentville. The funeral service, followed by a reception, will be held at 2 p.m. Wednesday, February 13, in the First Cornwallis Baptist Church, Rev. Peter Lohnes officiating. Burial will take place at a later date in the Canard Cemetery, Jawbone Corner, Canard. Family flowers only, by request. NYBERG, Ilse (nee Rausberg) Passed away suddenly but peacefully on Saturday, February 9th, 2008, at the age of 92 years. Predeceased by her beloved husband Volek (March 2007). She will be dearly missed by her son Gene and her daughter-in-law Sally Brown. Ilse was born in Tallinn, Estonia in 1915, where she met and married Volek, her life partner for 68 years. THEANDER, Kurt Egon With profound sadness we announce the passing of Kurt Egon Theander on Friday, February 8, 2008 at Foothills Medical Centre. Kurt leaves behind his wife of twenty-three years, My; his daughter Majlis; My's parents; her four brothers; three sisters and their family; cousins, nephews, nieces and a small host of faithful friends all of Calgary. Kurt was also the beloved patriarch of his large extended family in Sweden who so much loved and looked up to him: his six nephews, three nieces and their families, a sister-in-law, as well as special friends Allan and Mariann and their family. Kurt was born in Goteborg, West Coast of Sweden, the youngest, and mama's favourite, in a family of five children. A member of Swedish Royal Navy, before adventure took Kurt to Canada in the late 1950's, settling in Calgary and British Columbia. He worked in the building industry, with Engineered Homes, Cedar Log Building in Calgary and Chateau Homes in Kelowna, where his special project was his best work memory, the set up of the first pre-fabricated home factory and completion of such first housing complex in Tijuana, Mexico in 1976. Kurt had a passion for reading, nature, especially the ocean, horses and western history and culture. Having coffee with his wife (or a brother-in-law occasionally) twice a day, and now and then, baking with his daughter, a few puffs of a Players Plain cigarette and a piece of chocolate would be enough to complete his day. An afternoon ride out in the country would be enough to be added to the family's good times. Words can not describe what a unique person Kurt was. Besides years of loving memories, Kurt leaves his family his tremendous life lessons of absolute unconditional love, dignity, devotion, generosity and a youthful and romantic heart and mind, which will be the strengths for them to go on without him in person. It is painful not being able to touch you, hear your words, see the loving look in your eyes and embrace your warm smiles but we will forever be three. Ska vi ha kaffet nu, Egon? STEWART, Ian Robert 2008-02-14 Nov. 8, 1947 – Feb. 11, 2008 It is with great sadness we announce the passing of Ian Stewart at the age of 60. Ian passed away peacefully at Penticton Regional Hospital in Penticton, BC with his family at his side, after a brief battle with Leukemia. Ian is survived by his loving wife, Dr. Jacqueline Stewart, his two sons Trevor Stewart (daughter-in-law Kelly Freeman) of Toronto, Ontario, and Andrew Stewart of Penticton , and brother Geoffrey Murray of Etobicoke, Ontario, and sister-in-law Arlene Woitkiw of Thunder Bay, Ontario. Ian was predeceased by his Mother, Catherine Stewart and Father Harold R. Stewart. Ian was born in Fort William (Thunder Bay) Ontario and attended Selkirk Collegiate and Lakehead University. Ian and Jackie married in Thunder Bay then went to Exeter, England to attend Exeter University for post graduate studies. Ian and Jackie moved to Toronto where Jackie attended medical school and lived in Toronto for 26 years and was a long time resident of Fallingbrook Drive in the beaches. The family moved to Penticton, BC in 2004 and Ian loved the spectacular Okanagan Valley. Ian taught courses at Lakehead University before the family moved to Toronto where his wife attended Medical School. He worked several years at Miracle Food Mart while Jackie studied medicine. He also worked for the Federal Government in the Passport Office in Scarborough, Ontario. Subsequently, Ian found what became his passion in life – the Stock Market. He worked independently for a number of years trading stocks. This was the second most important aspect of Ian‘s life after his family. Ian was very passionate about politics. He ran in a Federal Election for member of Parliament in Thunder Bay at the age of 25. Although he was not successful, he avidly followed everything in politics all of his life. Ian was also very active. He started jogging in his 20‘s, later got his wife hooked on running and in the last year loved running with his labradoodle, Jack on the KVR trail in Penticton. Ian‘s favourite sport was baseball and was an avid fan of the Toronto Blue Jays. Not too many games were missed and his favourite thing to do was go to the games at the Skydome in Toronto. Ian also loved his pets and was very attached to his dog Jack, Tommy the parrot and the late Pigwidgeon the cockatiel. Ian will be profoundly missed by his wife of 36 years, Jackie, sons Trevor (Kelly) and Andrew. GODFREY, William Charles In loving memory of William Charles Alexander Godfrey, better known as Charlie, born July 5, 1913, died Feb. 11, 2007, in Carleton Place, Ontario, age 93. He attended high school in Carleton Place, as well as Tabers Business College there. As a younger man, he had a wide variety of work experiences: running a muskrat trap-line on the Mississippi River, working in his father's brickyard, selling brushes, cutting softwood in the bush, clerking in a grocery store, delivering ice cream, working in Bates and Innes Woolen Mill, and delivering bread for Canada Bread in Ottawa. He enlisted in the RCAF in the fall of 1941, hoping to become a pilot, but trained as an aero-engine mechanic at 6RD Trenton. After discharge in 1945, he returned to Carleton Place and ran a B.A. Service Station, and then his main business, Carleton Cleaners. Some of his community service follows: IOOF (and its minor hockey); Optimist Club as President, and as Lieutenant Governor, (and its Graham Lake Boys Camp); Industrial Commission as President; Canadian Cancer Society; Dry Cleaners and Launderers Institute as Chairman; Director of Ontario Hospital Association; and Chairman of the Carleton Place & District Hospital Board. In later years, he was a member of the Clan MacLachlan Society. He curled, played golf, and enjoyed his membership in the local Opimian Society. He thoroughly enjoyed his flower gardening, especially his roses. His honours included being named Carleton Place's "Citizen of the Year" in 1978, and he was awarded the Province of Ontario's Bicentennial Medal for outstanding service to his community in 1984. He will be remembered as a concerned citizen, a man with a kind heart, a gentle manner, who touched many lives, and someone who enjoyed life to its fullest. -Your loving son, Ken. MITCHELL, Blake Walter - It is with deep sorrow that we advise of the passing of Blake Walter Mitchell at home in Mississauga, Ontario on Saturday, February 9, 2008. Blake passed peacefully after a lengthy illness while surrounded by the deep love and affection of his wife Deborah and son Matthew.He is survived by his parents Walter and Doris Mitchell of Langley, BC, his loving wife Deborah and son Matthew, daughter Carrie and husband Trevor Murrell and granddaughter Brinn of Cambridge, Ontario, daughter Cori Mitchell of Chilliwack, BC and his sister Laurie and husband Wayne Leach of Langley, BC as well as nieces and nephews.Born in Brantford, Ontario on July 22, 1943, Blake was the elder son of Wally and Doris and grew up in the Brantford area with his sister Laurie and younger brother Darcy (deceased). He served proudly with the Canadian Armed Forces both in Canada and Overseas as well as with the Brantford Police Department prior to a successful security business career. He will be sadly missed by his family, relatives, many friends and business associates. CHISHOLM, Richard (Dick) - A resident of Chatham, Richard (Dick) Chisholm died on Sunday, February 10, 2008 at the Chatham- Kent Health Alliance, Chatham Campus at the age of 72. Born in Oakville, son of Herb and Nel Chisholm. Missed by his daughter Asher-lee Chisholm and her partner John and Asher-lee's mother Carollee Glendinning. Brother of Shirley Pawson of B.C. and the late Ian (Jock) Chisholm. Uncle of Scott, Mark, Neil, Wendy and Heather and the late Janet. Richard will be missed by his church family. He spent most of his working life in sales and advertising and was a faithful member of the Seventh Day Adventist Church.
