RADU, Adriana (Kit) formerly Honcoop, (nee Clement) - January 13, 1923 December 29, 2007. Peacefully and finally free from pain, Adriana passed away Saturday, December 29, 2007 at Meadows of Dorchester in Niagara Falls. Predeceased by her husband Nick (April 1995). Adriana is survived by her son Nick Honcoop (Jean), and daughter JoAnn Wultchyn (John); beloved Oma to grandson Daniel Wultchyn, all from Niagara Falls, Ontario and granddaughter Karen Hollinger (Robert), and three great-grandsons Michael, Nick and Alex Hollinger from Bowmanville, Ontario. Adriana also is survived by one brother Henry Clement (Hilda), three nieces Kathy Heykoop (Henk), Connie Smith (Rob) and Debbie Meager (Larry) and their families. Mom remained very close to her cousin Adrie Ernst from Mississauga. In the Netherlands Adriana leaves three sisters Nell, Henny and Eve along with their families. Also surviving her are one stepson Dan Radu (Melody) and two step grandchildren Rochelle and Warren. Adriana came to Canada in 1949 from the Netherlands settling in St.Catharines. She worked at Columbus McKinnon until her retirement; she always enjoyed many hobbies and interests. We as a family are relieved she is at peace. Thank you to the Evening Staff at Meadow's of Dorchester for their dedication and support to Mom and the family. A special thank you to Dr. John Wilczynski for his care that was above and beyond. In lieu of flowers, donations to the Lincoln County Humane Society to honour Moeder's love of animals, especially cats, would be appreciated. Beloved husband of 59 years to Gertrud (Oestreicher) Michalczyk. Dearly loved father of Irene (Charlie) Mills, Donna (Larry) Stewart, Lucia (Ward) Brown and Ed (Tina) Michalczyk, all of Niagara Falls. YOUNG, Douglas John - at Northland Pointe on Thursday December 27, 2007 after a long illness, at the age of 76. Doug is survived by Jackie, his loving wife of 52 years, his children Lorna and Steven, daughter in law Kathy Young (nee Lee) and grandson Eric Young. Pre-deceased by mother Orpha (Dolly) Frances Young (nee Belfield) and father Charles Young. In 1954 Doug graduated from McMaster University with a B. A. As the former owner of Young Lumber & Supplies, he became the President of the Lumber and Building Materials Association of Ontario in 1981 and 1982. He was a leader in his community and held a variety of offices within the Lions Club, including President of the Ridgeway Club and Zone Chairman. In 1968 he was acclaimed to the Bertie Township Council and he continued to serve as a councilor for the Town of Fort Erie until 1980. He was an avid golfer and was President of Cherry Hill Club in 1993-1996. Funeral services will be conducted in the chapel of THE WILLIAMS FUNERAL HOME 722 Ridge Road North, Ridgeway on Thursday afternoon at one o'clock. Friends may for one hour prior to the service from 12 noon until one o'clock. KUHNEN, Eugenie It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of Eugenie Kuhnen at her home on December 25, 2007. Eugenie was born on April 18, 1932 in Lonscka, Poland and immigrated to Canada in 1951, subsequently settling in Calgary. Eugenie married Joseph Kuhnen in October, 1953. She will be dearly missed by Joseph, as well as her children Rita (Graeme) Langford, Harry (Rhonda) Kuhnen, Roger Kuhnen, Karen (Stephen) Hughes; and grandchildren, Sarah (Joe), Lisa, Kristian, Mathew, Dylan, Karl, Joseph and Declan. Eugenie is also survived by her sister Hildegard (Heinz) Feist and their children Ingrid and Roland (May-Britt); aunts, Eugenie Hude and Emma Beier and numerous cousins, nieces and nephews in Calgary, Red Deer, Edmonton, Summerland, Germany and Brazil. Eugenie was predeceased by her parents Gottlieb and Johanna Stemke and her infant brothers Wilhelm and Walter. BARRE, Joseph Louis Rolland (Rolly) - It is with sadness we announce the passing of our beloved Husband, Father and Grandfather “Rolly“, on Monday, December 24th, 2007 at the Hamilton General Hospital in his 80th year with his beloved wife and best friend of 56 years Jeannette (nee Davidson) at his side. He will be greatly missed by his children Gail (Frank) Salfi, Alan (Wendy) Barre, Bonnie (Randy) Punch and Annette (Don) Martindale. Loved grandfather of Matthew, Katelyn, Lisa, Kevin, Mallorie, Braeden, Alan, Jesse, Shania and step-grandson Jason. Predeceased by his sister Aline Barritt and brother Donny Grandmaison. Rolly will be sadly missed by his many brothers-in-law, sisters-in-law, nephews, nieces, cousins and friends. Rolly was retired from General Motors for 15 years. Dear father of Lori Milne (Doug Blatchley) of St. Catharines and Tammy (Lance) Robson of Hamilton. Poppy will be sadly missed by his grandchildren, Stephanie, Jordon, Dylan, Cassidy and Amy. He is survived by many nieces and nephews. Besides his wife he was predeceased by his daughter Bonnie Lynn Acs (1999), his parents Franklin H. and Carolyn Louisa (Smith) Bisnette, his brothers and sisters George (Ada) Bisnett, Jack (Alta) Bisnett, Bernie Bisnette, Geraldine (Don) McDougall, Viola (Ed) Clausen, Alice (Ben) Christensen, LaMoyle (Conn) MacSweyn and mother and father-in law Oliver and Dorothy Upfold. Frank was born in Prince Albert, Saskatchewan and came to Port Colborne in 1937. Frank served with the Royal Winnipeg Rifles during World War II. He owned and operated F.L. Bisnett Painting & Decorating for many years. Frank was a member of the Port Colborne Pentecostal Tabernacle and the Christian Life Assembly. FREDRICKSON, Herbert Kenneth, ( P. Eng.) - Passed away peacefully at home on December 27, 2007, after a long but spirited battle with cancer. Herb, with his sense of humour, fairness and determination, leaves a great void in the lives of his wife Sharon, brother Ivan (Edie), children Kurt (Heather predeceased), Carl (Gail), Karen (predeceased), Eric (Cathy), Lara, stepchildren Susan (Jamie), Andrew (Ingrid), many grandchildren, great grandchildren and extended family. Herb was born in Winnipegosis, Manitoba, a small fishing community, on January 26, 1928. A proud graduate of Queen's University, he worked his way around the world as a respected mining engineer with stops in New Caledonia, Nicaragua and Ireland and across Canada in four provinces and two territories, before finally settling happily in Owen Sound. Herb loved his family and friends and lived life to the fullest. A memorial service will be held at Kemble United Church on Friday, January 4, 2008 at 1 p.m. In lieu of flowers, donations in his memory can be made to the Juvenile Diabetes Foundation or the G.B.R.H.C. BROOKS, MARGARET C. (MACKELLAR) - It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of Margaret Christine (MacKellar) Brooks of Saint John West, wife of the late Bernard Brooks on Saturday, December 29, 2007 at the Carleton Kirk Lodge. Born in Saint John, she was the daughter of the late Neil and Christine (Stewart) MacKellar. Margaret was the last member of her immediate family. Before her retirement she was employed at the Ridgewood Veterans Hospital. She was a member of the Carleton Kirk United Church and a member of the U.C.W. of Carleton Kirk Church. Margaret was a member of the Sea Belles Harmony Singers for over 20 years. She is survived by one son, Mickey Tait and his wife, Gayle of Dartmouth N.S.; one daughter, Pam Vautour and her husband, Yvon of Quispamsis; two step sons, Paul Brooks (Mary Lou) of Hampton, Joe Brooks (Brenda) of Grand Bay-Westfield; five step daughters, Sylvia Mitchell (Jerry) of Hampton, Diane Arsenault (Raymond) of Hampton, Margaret Godin (Gil) of French Village, Susan Brooks of Saint John and Lynn Stevens (Brian) of Gondola Point; four grandsons, Peter, Sean, Jeff and Brent; one granddaughter, Jillian; three great grandchildren, Gabrielle, Logan and Christian; and several nieces and nephews. Margaret was predeceased by her parents, husband; one son, James Tait; one step son, David Brooks; and two brothers, Neil and Duncan MacKellar. PETKOVICH, Walter (Vladimir) - It is with heartfelt sadness that the family announces the passing of a much loved husband, father, grandfather and friend. Walter passed away peacefully at home with his family by his side at the age of 66 years. Beloved husband of Lillian (Semenuk). Loving father of Todd, Jeff (Wendy) and Michael (Candy) Petkovich. Cherished grandfather (Gumpa) of Jaime-Lee, Colten, Jericho, Jenna, Travis, Emily, Mitchell and Quentin. Brother of Zvonko (Katica), Alexander and Peter (Jody). He was predeceased by his parents Cedomir and Stefica. He will be sadly missed by his sisters-in-law, brothers-in-law and nieces and nephews, cousins and many friends. Walter was born January 21, 1941 in former Yugoslavia. He lived there until he was twelve years old. At this point he set out to be with his father in Canada. Walter was a brave boy to fly by himself not knowing a word of English. Landing in Halifax, then by train to Montreal and his final destination Sudbury where he met his father for the first time. In 1962 Walter met his wife of 44 years, Lillian and subsequently moved to Niagara Falls to raise his family and start his company Metro Niagara Painters which he owned and operated from 1963 until his passing. Walter is at the MORSE & SON CHAPEL of the MORGAN FUNERAL HOMES, 5917 Main Street. His family will receive friends on Wednesday and Thursday from 2-4 and 7-9 p.m. Pomen will be conducted at the funeral home on Thursday evening at 8:00. KERNICK, Florence Louise May 4, 1919 - December 30, 2007 Florence Kernick (Abrahamson) passed peacefully into the presence of her Lord and Saviour on December 30, 2007 at the Southwood Hospice. Florence was born on the Abrahamson farm near Scotfield, Alberta in 1919, and moved into Calgary with the rest of her family as a young girl. She married Les, her loving husband, in 1944 and they raised their children and lived in Calgary all their married lives. Florence and Les were faithful and dedicated members of the Downtown Full Gospel Church for many years. In their retirement they enjoyed spending winter months in Phoenix and traveling to Hawaii as "Mission Builders" with Youth With a Mission. Florence is survived by her loving husband Les; daughter Susan (Doug) Smith; son John (Shelagh); five grandchildren, Jeremy (Tina), Kelly (Leslie), Jennifer (Mark) Vanderwel, Jay, Brad; and six great-grandchildren. She is also survived by sisters, Agnes Bradford, Mildred Palmer, and sisters-in-law, Laurel Kernick, and Nina Kernick. She was predeceased by her infant son Bruce, son Morris, sister Myrtle (Nudd) and brothers, Arthur and Roy. Florence's warm, loving and positive nature was an inspiration and blessing to all who knew her. There were many serious health challenges during her life, but she received wonderful healing through faith in the Lord. Aunt Flo, as she was known to her nieces and nephews, was greatly loved and will be missed by all the extended family, friends and neighbours.
