HAMPSON, James Victor (Red) James Victor (Red) Hampson died at the Mountain Lake Seniors Community, in Nelson, British Columbia on Tuesday, October 16, 2007. He was born November 24, 1935, in the town of Bellevue, Alberta, to the late William (November 3, 1938) and Mildred (June 15, 1997) Hampson. Moving to Calgary, Alberta at an early age Vic (Red) began working in the seismic industry where he worked in Alberta, British Columbia, the North West Territories, Yukon Territories, and the United States. Red touched many, many lives in a positive and caring way during his life while traveling and working in the wilderness of Northern and Western Canada and the Northern United States. Later he retired to Crawford Bay, British Columbia where he spent many enjoyable years surrounded by family and friends. Victor is survived by his brothers Bill and Maurice, his sons Trace and David; his daughters Karen and Cassandra. He is further survived by grandchildren, nieces, nephews, other relatives and many friends. In addition to his parents, he is preceded in death by his sister Joan (February 29, 1996). We would like to thank all of the staff of the Mountain Lake Seniors Community for their wonderful care, help and support. As well, thank you to Rosemary and Bill Hampson and their daughter Wanda for their love and support during Victor's later years of life. Philippe Leger 1925-2007 GRANDE DIGUE, NB - Philippe Leger, 82, passed away at the Dr. Georges-L. Dumont Hospital on October 18th, 2007 after a brief illness. Born on January 10th, 1925 in Grand Digue, he was the son of the late Auguste Leger and the late Ida Breau. He was a retired fisherman who attended La Visitation Roman Catholic Church, Grande Digue. He is survived by his wife, Jeanne Leger; three sons, Joseph and Yvon (Christine) of Grand Digue, and Eugene (Lise) of Scoudouc; one grandchild, Joline. He was predeceased by one brother, Edgar; three half brothers, Andre, Arthur, and Freddy; five half sisters, Cordilia, Rita, Leona, Euphemie, Lyda. LONG, SILAS R. - The death of Silas R. Long of Bloomfield, husband of Freda (Smith) Long occurred October 19, 2007 at the Saint John Regional Hospital. He was born in Bloomfield, son of the late Herbert and Rebecca (Mercer) Long. Silas was a farmer, soldier, heavy equipment operator and lumberman. He played accordion with several musical groups to entertain for seniors and veterans. He was known to win a few games of crib. Silas was well loved by friends and neighbors for the many acts of random kindness he performed. He was a hard worker and easygoing. He is survived by his wife Freda; two daughters, Evelyn Cassidy (David), Bloomfield, Marlene Marr (Tony), Midland; four sons, Douglas Long (Julia), Bloomfield Ridge, Bruce Long (Brenda), Bloomfield Ridge, Kenneth Long (Deborah), Bloomfield, Jeffrey Long (Tammy), Norton; sixteen grandchildren; six great-grandchildren; several nieces and nephews. Gentle, generous, funny, vibrant and caring Kay (Gran!) will be greatly missed by many friends, neighbours and her family; Jane, David & Sylvia, grandchildren Chris & Alex, god-daughter Joanne as well as Sue & Marcel, Carmen, Madeleine, Edie & Jim, nieces & nephews and numerous cousins. WALLACE, Alasdair G.B. - On Thursday, October 18th, 2007, at the age of 71, Alasdair Wallace slipped quietly from Riverview Manor, Peterborough, into his next great adventure! Alasdair was a much- loved teacher at the Lakefield District Secondary School, who retired in 1997 after 29 years of service. Beloved husband of Wendy (nee Gleed). Dear father of Elizabeth Wallace-Soryal (Hany) of Sutton, Quebec, and Margaret Wallace (David Bywater), presently residing in the U.A.E. Loving Daddad of Abigail, Olivia and Amia. Brother of the late Hugh Wallace & Madeleine Melville. Brother-in-law of Hugh Melville. Alasdair will also be missed by his cousin Tom Wild of England. MCCOLL, David Lawson - Retired Secondary School Administrator for the Frontenac County/Limestone District School Board - At the Kingston General Hospital, Thursday, October 18, 2007, after a courageous 11 year battle with prostate cancer in his 68th year. Sadly missed by his best friend and companion on life's journey, Mary, his wife of 45 years; his son Robert, and three daughters and spouses, Laura and Paul Hobson, Beth and Andy Bonvie, and Barbara and Jeff Gosselin. Beloved Grandpa of Brendan and Drew Hobson, Jacob and Alanah Bonvie, Brianna and Jackson Gosselin. Missed by sisters Leila Leighton (Scarborough) and Donna O'Neil (Trenton). A celebration of David's life will be held at St. Andrew's by-the-Lake United Church, 1 Redden St., Kingston on Tuesday, October 23, 2007 at 2 p.m. The family will receive friends, Monday from 7-9 p.m. and at the reception following the celebration of David's life.
