WILLIS, Robert Arthur CLU, FSA, FCIA - (Longtime employee of Empire Life, he was a Corporate Actuary who demonstrated a high level of integrity and professionalism) - On Tuesday, July 24, 2007, four days short of his 56th birthday, after a short battle with cancer at the Kingston General Hospital with his family and friends by his side. Cherished husband of Colleen (Hogan). Proud and loving father of Steven, Jenna and stepfather of Kent Henley. Beloved son of Alice and the late Arthur (July 6, 2007). MacISAAC, Ursula (nee Murray) - Peacefully at home surrounded by family and friends after a brief encounter with cancer on Monday July 23, 2007 in her 70th year. Beloved wife of 48 years to Bernie. Sadly missed by her loving daughters Laura, Jo-Ann Talbot (Denis), and Carol. She will be deeply missed by her grandchildren Nathan, Dustin, Myranda, Ben and Pat. Predeceased by her parents John Robert and Sara Murray, seven brothers Alfred, Dougie, Wibby, Arthur, Mickey, Willie, and baby John Robert and sister Margie. Survived by her sister DeeDee Demont (Durling) and her sister-in- laws Betty, Christine and Rita. Fondly remembered by her many wonderful nieces and nephews. Ursula would like to thank all her friends and family from near and far who supported both her and her family on this final journey. WILLIAMSON, David Lee - In Kingston, Ontario on Sunday, July 22, 2007 at the age of 81 years. A WWII veteran, he saw action in Holland with the Royal Regiment of Canada and was briefly a German POW. He was an employee and officer of the Mutual of Omaha Insurance Company for 41 years, and pioneered introduction of the computer to its Canadian operations and systems in Canada until his retirement, as Second Vice-President, in 1990. Active in sports in his middle years, he played softball, hockey and basketball, and subsequently coached young peoples' softball for 15 years, winning an Ontario Girls Bantam Championship in 1975. After retirement, he ran the Eagle Cove Bed & Breakfast in Sooke, B.C. for 5 years, following which he moved to the Ontario retirement community of Brighton-by-the- Bay, where he was active on the Municipality of Brighton Applefest Committee. Subsequent moves took him to Kingston, Ontario. He is survived by daughters Liisa of Toronto and Diana of Los Angeles, California, and sister Mary Foley of Ottawa. ANDERSON, Ian Mitchell - Surrounded by his family at Bluewater Health - Mitton St. site, Sarnia on Monday, July 23, 2007 at the age of 63 years. Loving husband of Kathy and father of Heather and Colin. Predeceased by parents John and Euphemia. Sadly missed by extended family and friends. In the 21 years he resided in Sarnia, Ian was actively involved as Organist of Central United Church, Founder and Director of the Rotary Boys' Choir, and Elementary Music Teacher for the St. Clair Catholic District School Board. Following Ian's wishes, his body has been donated to the Department of Anatomy and Cell Biology - Faculty of Medicine - at the University of Western Ontario. MOYNES, Kenneth Alex - after a lengthy illness, on Tuesday, July 24, 2007 at Belleville General Hospital. Ken Moynes of Belleville and formerly of Bancroft in his 81st year. Son of the late Earl & Grace Moynes. Beloved husband of Bethel “Betty” (nee Keeble). Loving father of Michael (Marilyn) of Gilmour, Patricia (Tom) Trapnell of Baltimore MD. USA. Doting grandfather of Kristin, Trevor and Kyle. Survived by siblings Elgin (Velma) of North Bay, Blake of Belleville and Helen (Bill) Brohm of Rockport. Also survived by sisters-in-law Dorothy Moynes of Rednersville and Carolyn Moynes of Belleville. Predeceased by brothers Gordon & Harold. Ken will be fondly remembered by many nephews, nieces and extended family. Ken was a Veteran of WWII where he served as a Lieutenant in the Merchant Navy. He was retired from Ontario Hydro (35 years service). Upon retiring he was a guard at the O.P.P. Bancroft. He volunteered as a Cub leader in Bancroft, a driver for the Canadian Cancer Society and serving breakfast at Prince Charles School with the Breakfast Club. Born in Detroit, he was the youngest son of Oliver and Aurilla Loyer. He farmed in Tilbury East Township for 36 years and served with the R.C.A.F. and R.A.F. from 1942-1945. LYNCH, Sister Mary (formerly Sister St. Bride) - Entered Eternal Life on Wednesday, July 25, 2007 in Chatham, Ontario. She was born in Windsor, Ontario in 1923, the daughter of the late Francis and Elizabeth (Harte) Lynch. She entered the Ursuline Religious of the Diocese of London in 1948. During those years she served as General Secretary from 1950 to 1955. From 1955 to 1975 she was teacher and principal of the Ursuline Business College in Chatham. Sister was also a court reporter in Chatham, treasurer at “The Pines” and worked at the Marriage Tribunal in Toronto. While living at Brescia University College from 1996 to 2001, she did Alumnae work for St. Peter's Seminary. In recent years she has enjoyed retirement in Chatham. She is survived by four nephews, Kevin, Robert, John and Wallace Hinman. She is predeceased by her brother Father John Lynch, her sister Theresa Hinman and brother-in-law, Wallace Hinman. Relatives and friends are invited to join the Ursuline Community at a prayer service to be held on Thursday, July 26, 2007 at 7:00 p.m. in the Kiva at Villa Angela, 20 Merici Way, Chatham. BREEMER, Peter Stoffel June 2, 1930 - July 22, 2007 Peter Stoffel Breemer, beloved husband of Mieke (Maria) Breemer of Calgary, passed away on Sunday, July 22, 2007 at the age of 77 years. Born on June 2, 1930 in Rottum, Netherlands, Peter immigrated with his family to Canada in 1949. After marrying Mieke in 1954, the young couple first resided in Calgary and then moved to Northern Alberta to start farming. For many years, Peter farmed in Teepee Creek and Clairmont as well as worked as a book keeper for a variety of companies. After retiring in 1989 to Calgary, Peter enjoyed relaxing by listening to music and working in his yard. Besides his loving wife of fifty-three years Maria, Peter is lovingly remembered by his children, Rose (Phil) Taylor, John (Ruth) Breemer, Judy (David) Sobolewski, and Patricia Breemer; as well as his five grandchildren, Meghan, Kevin, Mark, Carl and Mieke; and numerous nieces and nephews. Peter was predeceased by his parents John and Hilda and his sisters Jenny, Yvonne and Florence. HULME, Rose Marguerite (Scott) Rose passed away peacefully at the George Boyack Centre on July 23, 2007 at the age of 92. Mom is sadly missed by her son Robert (Elsie) Hulme of Calgary, AB and daughter-in-law Carol Hulme of Surrey, BC. She is lovingly remembered by her grandchildren: Vesta, Stephen, and Marguerite Hulme of Surrey, BC; Charlene (Michael) Granger of Vernon, BC; Jason (Alexis) Bulmer of Westbank, BC; Michael (Gayle) Hulme and Michelle (Keith) Ottway of Calgary, AB. Grandma will never be forgotten by her three great-grandchildren: Christian and Connor Granger of Vernon, BC and Taylor Hulme of Surrey, BC. Rose was predeceased by her husband John, son Fred Hulme, daughter Ruth and son-in-law Bill Bulmer, and brother Jim Scott. Rose was a proud, native Calgarian who was employed by the Bank of Montreal for twenty-two rewarding years. Upon retirement she re-located to the Vancouver area where she enjoyed many gratifying years traveling, knitting and spending time with her family. In 1992 she returned to her family home in Calgary and filled her days tending the garden, playing cribbage, and bowling. LOCKHART, Leonard (Len) Carlton October 27, 1932 - July 21, 2007 Len Lockhart passed away last Saturday in Calgary at the age of 74. He will be sadly missed by his eight children, twenty grandchildren and all his family and friends. He was predeceased by his first wife Mary Anne (nee Truch) who died from liver cancer in 1994. Their children are Melanie, Wayne, Lori, Dwight, Kelly, Robin, Barry and Timothy. Len was born in Toronto where as a young man he joined the Queen's Own Rifles of Canada. He often spoke with great pride, humility and enthusiasm about his twenty-three years of loyal service. He served as a professional Regular Force soldier for thirteen years in the Queen's Own Rifles at Currie Barracks and then transferred to the Royal Canadian Ordnance Corps. Following his military career, he worked in the commercial construction industry helping to build our city; many times he would point out an overpass or skyscraper that he put his hand to. Len was a strong supporter of the Royal Canadian Legion post 264 where he generously hosted friends and family for many decades. Len was also passionate about Ballroom and Round dancing. Much of his adult life was spent practicing, competing, socializing and travelling as he pursued this pastime. MILNER, Leon (Leo) January 27, 1917 - July 23, 2007 Leo Milner passed away on Monday, July 23, 2007 at the age of 90 years. Leo will be lovingly remembered by his wife Catherine; his daughter Leah; his three sons and daughters-in-law, Rob and Cheryl, Sheldon and Gloria, all of Calgary, Randolph and Jacqueline of Edmonton; and Leo's five grandchildren, Danielle, Jarrett, Joshua, Elissa, and Patrick. He is also survived by two sisters Simma Holt and Hannah Smith, both of Vancouver. Leo was predeceased by his sister Miriam, and his brothers Mortie, Arthur and Macey. ROLL, Allan George October 27, 1933 - July 23, 2007 Al Roll, beloved husband of Irene Roll, passed away peacefully at home on Monday, July 23, 2007 at the age of 73. Al's final days of a long and incredibly courageous battle with cancer was spent in the care of his loving wife and two sons, Rod and Greg. Al was born and raised in Walsh, AB. At the age of twenty-three he married Irene, the love of his life. He raised his family in Calgary and spent most of his working career at Engineered Air as Purchasing Manager. After reluctantly retiring at the age of sixty-three, they enjoyed ten years of traveling south to Texas where they met many wonderful new friends. He lived his life to the fullest and got his greatest pleasure by spending as much time as possible with his five grandchildren, Madison, Jody, Kyle, Trenton, and Sheadon. Al will be dearly missed but never forgotten by all who had the opportunity to share his life. KEARNS, Vivian E. "Tibby" It is with much sadness that we announce the passing of our dear mother, Vivian E. Kearns, 81 on July 23, 2007 in Ottawa, Ontario. She leaves this earth, after an acute struggle with illness, knowing that her family supported her through her difficult time with Alzheimers'. She will be remembered for her strength, love and pride in her family. Born in Moncton, New Brunswick, she was a daughter of the late Walter S. and Verna (nee Berry) Crossman. She will be missed by her husband Reginald Kearns (married for 61 years), three sons Robert (Donna), Brian (Sharon Ann), Gary (Judy), two daughters Barbara (John) and Brenda (Terry). She had 10 grandchildren who loved her very much: Robbie, Julie, Zachary, Shane, Jeremy, Robynn, Meaghan, Nikia, Jordan, Kiara and Melissa and three great-grandsons Sean, Casey and Finley. She is survived by one brother Ray Crossman (Marilyn) of Riverview, New Brunswick, several nieces and nephews. Vivian was predeceased by her baby son, Alan and her twin sisters Jean Leger and June Carver. WALSH, MARGARET CONSTANCE (DRISCOLL) - (1925-2007). The death of Margaret Constance (Driscoll) Walsh, 83, of West Saint John, widow of Harry McVicar Walsh, occurred at the Saint John Regional Hospital on July 23, 2007. Born in West Saint John, she was the daughter of the late Daniel J. Driscoll and Mary S. (O'Neil) Driscoll. Margaret was a life long member of Our Lady of Assumption Church. Margaret worked at Donovan's Store prior to her marriage then was a devoted wife and mother. She loved to play bingo and cards and spending time with all her children, grandchildren and great grandchildren. Margaret will be sadly missed by her loving family. Survived by sons, Thomas J., Daniel E. (Holly), Patrick J., Peter M. (Linda), Paul M., daughters Mary C. (Gordon) Hovey, Betty Lou (Michael) Brown, Theresa E. (Donald), Helen M. (Eddie Kane), one sister Catherine F. Burhoe, nine grandchildren, eight great-grandchildren, several nieces, nephews, cousins, godson Terry Bastarache, special caregiver Brenda Grant and son-in-law Michael Weaver. Predeceased by brothers Billy, Louis, Jim and sister Mary B. Driscoll, sons Harry J., Francis (Freckles) Walsh, daughter Margaret Ann Weaver. LAFFORD, PATRICK JOSEPH - The death of Patrick Lafford, age 65, of Sackville occurred on Tuesday, July 24, 2007 at the Moncton City Hospital. Born in Fredericton, he was a son of the late Nelson and Marie (Sampson) Lafford. A school teacher, he taught in Belleville, ON, Grand Manan, NB, NBCC, Moncton and, Sackville, NB at Tantramar Regional Hight School and Mount Allison University. He coached football and basketball for many years. He was a member of the St. Vincent Roman Catholic Church, Sackville. Devoted to his family, he will be sadly missed by his wife, Patricia (Simon), Sackville; three sons, Joseph (Alexandra), John, and Charles (Susan Mills) all of Sackville; two daughters, Marie , and Elizabeth, both of Fredericton; three grandsons, William, Jeffrey and Thomas; three sisters, Shirley Constantino, Hamilton, ON, Lorraine (Francis) Quinn, Rothesay, NB and Catherine (Leo) Holland, Belleville, ON; a sister-in-law, Joan Lafford, Albert Mines, NB; nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by brothers, Wilfred, Gerald, Douglas and John and a sister, Winnifred. LACHANCE Germaine LACHANCE (Soeur Germaine) Est décédée au Monastère des Augustines de Chicoutimi, le 24 juillet 2007, à l'âge de 89 ans, Mme Germaine Lachance A.M.J. en religion (Soeur Saint Bruno). Elle comptait 65 ans de profession religieuse. Née à St-Bruno de dame Anna Bergeron et de M. Joseph Lachance. Soeur Germaine a exercé sa profession d'infirmière à l'Hôtel-Dieu St-Vallier de Chicoutimi. En 1955, elle est choisie parmi les fondatrices de l'hôpital à Dolbeau, où elle assume différentes responsabilités pendant plusieurs années. La résidence «Le Beaumanoir» de Chicoutimi a aussi bénéficié de sa compétence quelques années. La dépouille mortelle sera exposée au Parloir de la Communauté 225 rue St-Vallier Chicoutimi le vendredi 27 juillet 2007 de 14 h à 17 h et de 19 h à 22 h. A 20 h il y aura une Célébration de la Parole par la Supérieure. Le samedi 28 juillet 2007, la salon ouvrira ses portes à 9 h. Les funérailles auront lieu à la chapelle du Monastère à 10 h 30. Soeur Germaine était du nombre des cinq soeurs Lachance de la Communauté des Augustines de Chicoutimi. Trois l'ont déjà précédée dans la Maison du Père; feu Soeur Rita, feu Soeur Lucille, feu Soeur Esther. Nous les confions à l'Amour du Seigneur!
