McNICHOLL, Mary Gene (1954 - 2007) Died peacefully on February 15, 2007 after a courageous battle with cancer at the age of 52. Loving mother of Lauren Vandenberg. She will be deeply missed by her parents Edward and Mary McNicholl of Montreal, her brother Brian of Ottawa, her sister Anne (Dennis) O'Connor of Montreal and brother Bill (Linda) McNicholl of Montreal. Mary Gene will be fondly remembered by her nieces, nephews, cousins, Gerry Vandenberg and family and so many dear friends who were by her side these past months. Mary Gene was a dynamic elementary school teacher in Ottawa and had taught at Fisher Heights, Meadowview, Queenswood and Trillium schools. SIMPSON, Kenneth O. Born June 22, 1923 above the family store on Victoria Street in Metcalfe, Ontario; died peacefully February 14, 2007 at Queensway Carleton Hospital in Ottawa. Beloved husband of more than 60 years of Gwynneth (Gwen) of Ottawa. Loving father and father-in-law of John and Violet, Gary and Lori, and Janet and Warren, and proud grandfather of Darren, Kym, Andrew, Christie and Kelsey. Survived by his brothers George and Lloyd and his sister Norma Morrison, as well as many nieces and nephews. Many thanks to this extended family who gave him their love and comfort during the last part of his journey. Predeceased by his sisters Helen Simpson and Jean Capell and his eldest brother Gordon. He will be missed by all. Ken (K.O.) had a successful and immensely enjoyable 40+ year career with Nortel where he made many lifelong friendships. He had a wonderful life journey and travelled from his small town beginnings to see much of the world and enjoy just about everything it had to offer. At Ken's request, there is no viewing or immediate funeral. A memorial service will be held at a later date prior to interment at Springhill Cemetery in Metcalfe. CROTHERS, Clifford E. It is with great sadness we announce at the Royal Victoria Hospital on Tuesday, February 13 2007 age eighty-four years beloved husband of Elizabeth Assels. Cherished father of Carol (Michel) and Nancy (Bob). Proud grandfather of Nicolas, Nadia and Stephanie. Cliff was predeceased by his brothers Nelson (Edith), John and George (Lillian). He will be dearly missed by family and friends. Cliff served overseas for five years in W.W.II. He enlisted with the Sherbrooke Fusilaires and then became part of the Royal Canadian Army Medical Corps. He was a very proud and very active member of the legion., Flanders 63 branch.
