Il fut technicien durant la 2e Guerre mondiale, Membre fondateur de la paroisse St-Ignatius Martyr, Président de la St-Vincent de Paul de cette même paroisse pendant 45 ans, ainsi que récipiendaire du Prix du Gouverneur Général pour l'entraide aux Canadiens. Robert (Mick) C. Fraser Robert (Mick) C. Fraser 78 of Riverview and formerly of Harcourt with members of his family at his side, passed away peacefully at The Moncton Hospital on Saturday, January 27, 2007. Born in Bryants Corner, Mick was the son of the late David and Janey (Young) Fraser. Mick was retired from Canadian Trailmobile. He attended St. John the Baptist Anglican Church, Riverview and formerly attended St. Matthews Anglican Church, Harcourt. Mick was jack of all trades, helping people when it was necessary, he was very much a Country man who enjoyed hunting, fishing, mud-bogging, and drawing pictures of horses and birds. However, for the last fifteen years he was Head Pit-Crew Chief of Stockcar Racing, with his son Bobby and grandson Robbie. He also enjoyed attending hockey games with his grandsons in years past. Mick will be sadly missed by his wife of 48 years, Joyce (Fullerton) Fraser; daughters, Dorothy (Dottie) Jamieson (David), Lower Coverdale, Beth Whalen (Edgar), Kent Junction, Robert (Bobby) (Debbie) Riverview, Grandchildren Richard, Tanya, Chris (Tressa), Robbie (Sarah), Jennifer. CARTY, MARY BEATRICE (DEEDEE) The death of Mary Beatrice (DeeDee) (nee Conyer) of Oromocto, NB, occurred on Saturday, January 27th, 2007 at the Oromocto Public Hospital. Born in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania, she was the daughter of the late Louis Spencer Conyer and Mary Edna (nee Lewis) Conyer. Mary trained and practiced nursing in Philadelphia until moving to Canada in 1973. She is survived by her husband, Robert; one grandson, Jason Currie of Philadelphia; brothers, William, Samuel and Robert all of Philadelphia, and James of West Chester; one sister, Barbara Conyer of Philadelphia. She was predeceased by her parents, and one son, George H. Currie Jr. Not to be forgotten, Mary is also survived by her very special aunt, Mrs. Beatrice Harris of Darby, Pennsylvania. Arthur R. Courtice Arthur R Courtice, 90, of Moncton passed away at the Moncton Hospital on Sunday, January 28, 2007 following a lengthy illness. Born in Brockville, ON he was the son of the late Arthur and Florence (Gummow) Courtice. Arthur spent his entire working life in the shoe industry and enjoyed retirement at his winter home in Florida where he loved to golf, and go boating. He spent his summer months at his cottage at the "Bluff" where he was an avid gardener. Art was a member of St. John's United Church, Member of the BPOE Elks Lodge, Life member of the Brockville, ON Masonic Order and former member of the Beaver Curling Club. He was one of the founding members of the Moncton Minor Football association and one of its first presidents. A veteran of the Second World War, he served overseas in England, France, Belgium, and Germany as an officer with the Cameron Highlanders of Ottawa. Arthur will be sadly missed by his wife of 40 years Shirley (Rolland) Courtice; daughter, Penny Clark (Bob) Moncton; Step-children, David Rolland (Kathy) Kingston, Ontario, Greg Rolland (Brenda) and children, Natalie and Trisha, Pointe du Chene, Shirley Ann Miller (Peter) Downingtown, PA and their children, Kate and Matthew. Nephew, Paul Courtice, (Glenda) Carleton Place, ON. Besides his parents he was predeceased by grandsons, Jeffrey Douglas Clark (1996), Richard Stephen Clark (1964); brothers, Gordon and Douglas. McHUGH, Joseph Bernard “Joe“ - In loving memory of Joseph Bernard McHugh, 68 years, who passed away unexpectedly January 27th, 2007 at the SRH-St. Joseph's Health Centre. Predeceased by his parents Edward (Silver) and Erma (Schiratti) McHugh. Dear brother to May Ackermann of Toronto. Joe always kept himself busy, “tinkering“ with many things. He enjoyed being a craftsman with wood, creating gorgeous toy chests for all of the grandchildren, He took great pride in maintaining his yard, enjoying his toys: riding lawn mower, and snow blower, and spending time in the outdoors with his canine friends Molly and Maggie. We enjoyed time together as a family, especially the conversations and laughter that took place over dinner time at the kitchen table, with his keen sense of humour and jests that went with it. He made awesome wine, and as a family we enjoyed sampling it. Joe was a family man who was always there for all of us. He was very “matter of fact“ in the way he handled things, probably using his lifetime knowledge as a business man to help his family in making life decisions, or offering advice with a particular situation. He had our very best interest in mind at all times. We will miss hearing his distinct deep voice in the way he said “Good Day“ in phone calls which he made to check in on us, or to update us on the progress of his wine. Bélanger, Robert ROBERT O. BÉLANGER 53 ans est décédé le samedi 27 janvier 2007 à sa résidence. Il était le fils bien-aimé d'Alcide et d'Irène (Lamothe) Bélanger de Sudbury. Il était l'associé de Denis Marcil de Sudbury; le père bien-aimé de Natalie Bélanger, Crystal Pouda (Stephen) et Shella Bélanger (Denis Lacroix), tous de Sudbury. Il était le grand-père adoré de Dominique et Thomas; le cher frère de Margaret Bélanger de Sudbury et de feu Sue Caya. Il sera profondément regretté par plusieurs nièces et neveux. OBITUARY EMILIE C. JELLETT Died peacefully at home in Chester on Thursday, January 25, 2007 after a brief but valiant struggle with cancer. Born in Shediac, N.B., she was a daughter of the late Robert and Dorothy (Croasdale) Murray. Emilie was a great cook, fisher, adventurer, expert gardener and prize-winning floral competitor, curler, skier, an avid reader, an accomplished artist who loved art, music, people and animals. Mom was the most wonderful lady in the whole world, a woman ahead of her own time and a wonderful nurturer. She was office manager at a large Insurance firm in Montreal but following WWII she was demoted to secretary, a fact she never forgot. She will be sadly missed by family and friends across North America. Emilie is survived by her adoring husband Alfred, daughter Joanne, Chester, son Todd (Anne), Fredericton, granddaughter Karolyn, great-granddaughter Meaghan, niece Helen and family, cousin Ivor. She will also be missed by her cherished cat Tootsie. Besides her parents, she was predeceased by her sister Polly. A memorial service for family and friends was held Sunday, in Davis Funeral Home, Chester, Fr. Jim McCorriston officiating. A committal service will be held at a later date. Grandmother of 9 grandchildren and 1 great-grandchild. Also survived by her sister Lillian Michaluk of Calgary, Alberta. Pre-deceased by brother Gerald Michaluk. She graduated from nursing school in 1944 from the Royal Alexandra Hospital in Edmonton. A caring unselfish person, dedicated to her family, Dorothy will be sadly missed by her many relatives and friends. She touched the lives of many. RUSSELL, BARBARA JOAN It is with great sadness that we announce the death of Joan Russell of Doaktown, beloved wife of Myles Russell. Her death occurred on January 26, 2007, at the Dr. Everett Chalmers Hospital. Born in Campbellton, NB, on April 1, 1932, she was the daughter of the late Stanley and Frances MacKenzie. Besides her husband, she is survived by four daughters: Carolyn Russell (George Hadjiantoniou) of Toronto, Janice Price (Wilfred) of Ludlow, NB, Nancy Carleton (David) of Victoria, BC, and Heather Russell of Kincardine, ON; and one granddaughter, two grandsons, and two step-grandsons. She is also survived by two sisters, Marion Hinton (Lloyd) of Aurora, ON, and Ann MacKenzie of West Vancouver, BC, and one brother, Frank MacKenzie (Margaret) of Calgary, AB. She was predeceased by one brother, Robert. Joan led a very active life. She was well known for her service to her church and to the Doaktown community. She was a member of the St. Thomas United Church, an active member of the UCW and other committees, and choir director for the past 30 years. Her outstanding ability as a soloist was recognized over many years; her beautiful soprano voice endeared her to many people. In her own words, she sang not for self-gratification, but to the glory of God. And Joan was a true servant of God. She was well known for her kindness to others, especially those in need of comfort. She made numerous visits to people all over the Doaktown area, often taking along some of her cooking, especially during the Christmas season. She repeated this gesture of good will, year after year. She always exhibited a friendly smile, a warm greeting and an infectious laugh. Her cheerful manner was always abundantly evident. Visitation will occur at Davidson's Funeral Home in Doaktown on Monday, January 29th, from 7 - 9 PM and Tuesday, January 30th from 2 - 4 PM and 7 - 9 PM. A celebration of her life will take place on Wednesday, January 31st, at St. Thomas United Church in Doaktown at 2 PM. Interment will be held in the spring. In lieu of flowers, memorial tributes may be made to the St. Thomas United Church or the Self-Help Group in Doaktown. ROSBOROUGH, WINSTON (WINK) ELMER Winston (Wink) E. Rosborough of Greenhill Lake passed away January 27, 2007 at the Dr. Everett Chalmers Hospital. Winston was born at Saint John in 1942, a son of the late Elmer and Elma (Downey) Rosborough. For many years he was a driver for Allied Van Lines, traveling across Canada. For the past twenty years he was employed with Trius as a taxi driver and tour bus driver. Winston is survived by his wife, Ardith M. (Hanson) Rosborough; a son, Troy Firth (Tracy), Zealand; two granddaughters, Dionne and Lindsey Firth; his mother-in-law, Doris Hanson, Greenhill Lake; a brother-in-law, Darrel Hanson (Marjorie), Greenhill Lake; several cousins, nieces, nephews and his pride and joy, his cat Squeeky. In addition to his parents, he was predeceased by an uncle, Winston Downey; his father-in-law, Ashley Hanson; and three brothers-in-law, Stephen, Dale and Garnet Hanson. MERSEREAU, RICHARD TAYLOR Richard Taylor Mersereau passed away on January 26, 2007 at the Dr. Everett Chalmers Hospital at Fredericton. He was born November 04, 1926, the son of Harry Sterling and Mary Edna (Keith) Mersereau. Predeceased by his parents; infant brother, McLeod; infant daughter, Linda Mary Mersereau; and brothers, Keith and LeBaron; sisters, Mildred, Harriet and Lou. Survived by his wife, Eileen Maude (Dorcas) Mersereau; their family Kathy Smith and her husband, Brian and their daughter, Kimberly Smith of Fredericton, Sam Mersereau and his wife, Deborah Phillips of Hampton, Ivan Gallager and his wife, Claudia and their son Iva of Brandon, Manitoba; and sister, Shirley Flewelling and her husband, Paul and their family of Kingston, Ontario; and several nieces and nephews. Our family extends a sincere thank you to the doctors and nurses of the cardiac care unit of the Dr. Everett Chalmers Hospital for the many years of care and in particular during the recent months when our father was in declining heath. We also want to acknowledge the doctors and nurses of the cardiac units of the Montreal General and Halifax hospitals. MORTON, JAMES A. "JOE" - The death of James A. "Joe" Morton of Portage Vale and formerly of Sussex occurred at his residence on January 26, 2007 at the age of 85. Born at Wheaton Settlement, NB a son of the late Noble and Mary (Steeves) Morton and was the husband of the late Lillian D. Morton who passed away in 2005. He is survived by sons, Dr. Richard Morton (Diane) of Riverview and Wayne Reeder (Ellen) of Oregon; grandchildren, Andy and Scott Reader, Carolyn MacNaughton, Alex, Ian and Craig Morton; five great grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews.
