1948 - 2006 À son domicile, le 25 avril 2006 est décédé subitement, à l’âge de 57 ans, monsieur Michel Tremblay, fils de feu Gérard Tremblay et de dame Simone Blanchette. Michel a travaillé au sein de l’équipe de la Direction des communications du Ministère des Relations internationales et de l’équipe des Publications du Québec avec l’objectif soutenu de faire rayonner le Québec à travers le monde et ce, pendant plus de 33 ans. Michel s’est aussi démarqué au sein du 119e groupe Scouts de Saint-Nicolas. Outre sa mère, il laisse dans le deuil: son très cher fils Louis-Philippe, ses sœurs: Claire, Lucie (Jacques Lefebvre); son frère Luc (Jasmine Quilliam); ses neveux et nièces: Étienne, son filleul Jocelyn, Marie-Christine, Mathieu et Marie-Pascale; tous ses collègues de travail, ses amis, plus particulièrement Guy et Lucille Grenier, Bruno Savard et Claude Paulette ainsi que la mère et la sœur de son fils, Marie-France Bélanger et Mélissa, sans oublier sa filleule, Johanie Bélanger. DODDS Edith "Edie" 1941 - 2006 It is with profound sadness that we announce the passing of Edith "Edie" Josephine Dodds (nee Milderberger) who was born on November 6, 1941 in Pollockville, Alberta and passed away in Calgary on April 26, 2006 at the age of 64 years. Edie has left behind her two daughters, Sheree (Joe) and Joann (Ken), and her loving son Randy (Lori). Edie was predeceased by her daughter Brenda and her brothers, Raymond and Joseph. Edie was a wonderful companion to her lifetime partner Mike, and a dear friend to Mike's nephew Nick, his wife Larrissa, and their two children, Matthew and Michael. Edie was a devoted mother to her children and was ever thrilled by her grandchildren, Clint, Lyndsay, Shawn, Michelle, Brandon, Mathew, Tommy, as well as her great-granddaughter Charlotte (Clint and Crystal). Edie will be lovingly remembered by her brothers, Alec and Leo, and her sisters, Carol, Rose, Emma, Marg and Daisy, along with many nieces and nephews. Mom was also loved by many friends. DAVIES Agnes May 1916 - 2006 Agnes May Davies passed away suddenly on April 27, 2006 in Calgary just shy of her ninetieth birthday. She was the beloved mother of Christine (Mehmet) Saltuklaroglu and "Nan" to Julide (Mike) and Timur and "Little Nan" to Dylan and Maddox Peace. Agnes was born in Sheffield, England on May 19, 1916, the third of six children. She married Jack Davies in 1941 and after Jack passed away in 1982 Agnes immigrated to Canada in 1983 to be closer to her family. Always one to keep busy, Agnes soon discovered the Kerby Centre where she became a volunteer. At the time of her passing she had completed almost eighteen thousand hours of volunteer work, giving tours of the facility and working at the membership desk. Agnes' pride and joy were her two grandchildren and more recently her two great-grandchildren. Although small in stature, Agnes was mighty in her determination and independence. POGONTCHEFF Robert Y. "Bob" 1924 - 2006 Bob Pogontcheff, beloved husband of Mrs. Gordi Pogontcheff of Calgary, passed away on Thursday, April 27, 2006 at the age of 82 years. Bob was born on April 4, 1924 in Sofia, Bulgaria. He later moved to Niagara Falls, ON where he remained until he finished his high school diploma. It was at this time that Bob moved to Toronto, ON where he attended The University of Toronto and received both his Bachelors and his Masters degree in Mechanical Engineering. Bob was married in 1953 to Mary Jane (Gordi) Wharry and they continued to create a beautiful life together for the rest of the time they had. He worked for Shell Oil and at the time of his retirement, was a Vice President of Husky Oil. Bob was in the RCN during World War II, where he was responsible for reconnaissance work in the area of the North Atlantic. Bob was a member of the United Church of Canada. Bob loved nothing more than spending time with his grandchildren, and enjoyed playing golf, sitting in the sun on his deck and going to his second home in Arizona. Besides his loving wife, Bob is remembered by a son and daughter-in-law, Craig and Julie Pogontcheff of Edmonton; a daughter and son-in-law, Carol and Douglas Clenchy of Bragg Creek; three grandchildren, Megan Clenchy, Matthew Clenchy, and Kayla Callfas; and his sister, Zorka Bassil of Toronto, ON. Bob was predeceased by his parents and his brother, Ted Pogontcheff. DUHAMEL GIGUÈRE, Yvette Elle a eu une vie chargée de défis qu'elle a su relever avec grand courage et une détermination unique. Yvette Giguère - Duhamel, épouse de feu Jean Duhamel, mère de Georges (Antonella Iurilli), Pierre (Rosalyn Beaudoin), Lucien (Thérèse Fraser) et Claude (Jocelyne Jolin et Mireille Poirier) s'est éteinte dignement, le mercredi 26 avril 2006, à l'âge de 86 ans. Elle laisse aussi dans le deuil sa soeur Berthe Giguère-Ménard, ses belles-soeurs, neuf petits-enfants, quatre arrière-petits-enfants et de nombreux neveux et nièces ainsi que ses amies. Born 1922 in Napika, Manitoba she was the daughter of the late Allan and Elizabeth (Murray) Williams. Muriel worked at Myers Studio for many years, hand coloring photos. She was the last surviving member of her immediate family. She is survived by daughter Ann Keating (Paul) of Quispamsis; sons Jack (Cookie) of Wickham, Bruce (Pauline) of Quispamsis, Barry (Nancy) of Rothesay, Brian (Lisa) of Quispamsis, Robert of Rothesay, Paul of Saint John and Gordon of Saint John; brother-in-law George Baart of Richmond, BC; sister-in-law Ruth Craig of Bangor, ME; 18 grandchildren; eight great-grandchildren; several cousins, nieces and nephews. WISEMAN, KATHLEEN "KAY" MINNIE The death of Kathleen "Kay" Wiseman of Waterville, NB occurred at the Oromocto Public Hospital on Tuesday, April 25th, 2006. Born in Alma, Albert Co., NB, she was the daughter of the late Thomas and Irene (Hopper) Parsons and wife of Jim Wiseman. Kay loved to travel. Camping with her husband in Albert County was a favorite of hers. She especially loved her camping trips to St. Andrews and Saint John, being close to the ocean. She will be sadly missed by her husband, Jim; sons, Jamie of Waterville, NB, David of Toronto, ON, Derrick and Kenny both of Waterville, NB and Marvin of Alberta; grandson, Corey of Miramichi, NB; sister, Judy Cohen (Harvey) of Moncton, NB; brother, Allen Parsons (Marion) of Alma, NB; aunt, Rita Hopper of Alma, NB; father-in-law, Clarence Wiseman of Fredericton, NB as well as several nieces and nephews. CHARTERS, MYRTLE MAE The death of Myrtle Mae (Daniel) Charters, wife of the late Charles Theodore Charters, of New Maryland, NB, occurred at the Dr. Everett Chalmers Hospital on Thursday, April 27th, 2006. Born in New Maryland, NB in 1907, she was the daughter of the late William and Mae (Price) Daniel. Myrtle is survived by her son Wayne (Marie) of New Maryland; her daughter Joan Anne (Earl) Corey of Sussex Corner, NB; her sister Nell Charters of Island View, NB; her brother-in-law, Preston (Elizabeth) Charters of Nasonworth, NB; her sister-in-law Mildred Daniel of New Maryland; four grandchildren, Tanya (Doug) Anderson of Beaver Dam, NB, Grant (Nadine) Corey of Red Lake, ON, Nadine (Kevin) Simpson of Portland, ME, and Sabrina Corey of Sussex Corner, NB; and six great-grandchildren, Reese and Shianne Simpson of Portland, ME, Zacharie Corey of Red Lake, ON, and Paul, Corey, and Kelsey Anderson of Beaver Dam, NB. She was predeceased by her husband Charles Theodore Charters; two brothers, Clarence and Walter Daniel; and her brother-in-law, James Charters. Myrtle was employed with Ganong Chocolates in St. Stephen, NB, prior to her marriage. Following her marriage to Charles, she worked in the Construction Corp Kitchens in Ontario. Myrtle was very well known for her baking, and enjoyed baking wedding cakes for her friends and family. She enjoyed quilting and sewing for her family, friends, and church. Myrtle was a lifetime member of the New Maryland United Church and the Women's Institute, which she joined at the age of 16. She served as the church organist for 56 years and was a longtime choir member. She was a very active member of the UCW. Myrtle was a life long resident of New Maryland. The family will receive visitors at River Valley Funeral Services (50 Avonlea Court, off Bishop Dr., Fredericton 455-4267) on Saturday, April 29th, 2006 from 2-4 and 7-9 PM. MONTGOMERY, Robert Lyle - In loving memory of Robert Lyle Montgomery, 83 years, who passed away Thursday evening, April 27th, 2006 at the Sudbury Regional Hospital - St. Joseph's Health Centre. Born in Espanola, he married Mildred in Sudbury in 1944. Lyle retired from Falconbridge Nickel Mine in 1982 as a Superintendant with 40 years service. He served overseas in India with the RCAF and is a member of The Royal Canadian Legion, Branch 503, Onaping Falls. He enjoyed the competition of sports throughout his life, coaching hard ball in his youth, he was a skilled golfer and curler, and an avid baseball fan. Lyle was a member of the Onaping Falls Golden Age Club and the Fort Lauderdale Computer Club. He was a well respected, positive and caring man who always kept a good sense of humour. He loved life and when he entered a room his presence could be felt. He was devoted and proud of his family and will be lovingly remembered as Mr. Ted E. Bear. CHILD, VERVA- after a long, full life, Verva died peacefully on April 27, 2006, in her 87th year. She was born September 10, 1919, in Dalrymple, the middle child of 5 born to John A. and Annie McGillivray. Verva entered Nursing at Ross Memorial Hospital in Lindsay and graduated as a Registered Nurse [RN] in 1942. She practised nursing at Toronto General Hospital until the end of the War in 1945, then moved to North Bay with her new husband, Murray Child. Verva took particular pride in her nursing career. She was Director of Nursing at the opening of Eastholme Home for the Aged in Powassan, then became Director of Nursing at Leisure World Home for the Aged in North Bay. She also contributed as a Director on the Board of Directors of The Victorian Order of Nurses and played a prominent role in the Rebekah Lodge. Verva was predeceased by her parents, siblings and husband Murray and son Gordon. She is survived by her son Ron [Kathleen] of Toronto, her daughter Karen [Michael] of Isle of Man UK, grandchildren Jennifer Janicas and Kathryn Child of Toronto and Rebecca and Briana Kirkwood of Isle of Man and great- grandchildren Phillip and Meghan Verva Janicas. Friends may call at the MARTYN FUNERAL HOME on Sunday evening from 7-9 pm. The funeral service will be held in the chapel on Monday at 2 pm.
