WILSON Agnes Dunlop 1911 - 2006 Agnes Wilson of Banff, Alberta passed away at Canmore Hospital on Sunday, April 9, 2006. She was born at Dreghorn, Ayrshire, Scotland and immigrated to Canada (Banff) in 1948. Agnes was predeceased by her husband Robert in 1976 and her grandson Robert in 1997. She is survived by her sons, Bill (Helen), Jim (Norma); her grandsons, Glen, Ian (Corinne), Craig (Heidi); and her great-grandchildren, Curtis and Grace. She was a life member of the Ladies Auxiliary Royal Canadian Legion, most recently at the Royal Canadian Legion Branch No. 26. MOE Alice Pearly Doreen Alice Pearly Doreen Moe, went home to be with her Lord at the Agape Hospice on April 9, 2006 at the age of 74 years, after a courageous battle with cancer. She is survived by her loving children, Linda Wilson of Medicine Hat, Brenda (Melvyn) Rust of Calgary, Rick Moe of Calgary, Andy (Kari) Moe of Stony Plain and Otto (Jackie) Moe of Turner Valley; sixteen grandchildren, Shelley, Alexis (Silas) Moe, Calvin, Julie, Johnathon, Deona, Derrick, Lacey, Kendall, Dalton, Tavish, Kyra, Desiree, Jessika, Dyllian and Shyanne; five great-grandchildren, Chris, Brandon, Chase, Jacob, and Braydon. She is also survived by two sisters and four brothers, Maxine Greiner, Evelyn Kerr, Jim Baker, Wayne Baker, Denis Baker and Larry Baker, as well as numerous nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by her husband Donald in 1990; her father Pat Baker in 1956; her sister Wanda in 1968; an infant grandson Silas Jr. in 1978; her mother Gladys Baker in 1990; her son Silas in 1992; and her brother Ronald in 2002. MILLS, Della Catherine (nee Barstead) Peacefully at Bethania Home in Winnipeg on April 08, 2006, one month after her 100th birthday. Predeceased by her husband John Graham (Shorty) in 1961 and her brother Russell in 1974. Della was a lifelong resident of Eganville excepting the past 10 years. She will be fondly remembered as a strong, independent and determined advocate of walking for health. HERRIDGE, Mildred Emily (nee Stent) Peacefully at home at Unitarian House on Sunday, April 9, 2006. Born May 25, 1921 in Montreal. Mildred spent her early years in Nova Scotia and later settled in the Montreal area (Hudson) with her husband Bill (William T. Herridge, deceased) to raise three children: Douglas (Maybeth), Anne (Barry McGowan) and Ken (deceased). Mildred is also survived by brother Frank Stent (Marie) sister Mary Lindsay (Bob), daughter-in-law Audrey Gallagher, sister-in-law Peggy (Herridge) Denis, 3 grandchildren, 3 great-grandchildren, nieces and nephews. During her retirement years in Ottawa, Mildred was active with playing bridge, the Orpheus Choir and the Good Companions. The family will receive friends at the Westboro Chapel of the Tubman Funeral Homes 403 Richmond Road at Roosevelt on Wednesday, April 12th from 1:30 - 3:30 p.m., followed by a memorial service in the Chapel at 3:30 p.m. A private interment will follow in Montreal. BAZANT Theresa Agnes 1905 - 2006 Theresa Agnes Bazant (nee Malinowski) passed away peacefully at the Strathmore Hospital Continuing Care on April 9, 2006 at the age of 101 years. She was born on February 23, 1905 at Trembowla, Poland and came to Canada at an early age. She married Walter Bazant in 1927. They farmed briefly at Jenner, then Keoma before settling in the Strathmore area where they built the family farm. In 1954 they retired to Calgary and enjoyed their retirement years. Widowed in 1966, she lived independently in their Calgary home until age eighty-seven. She then moved to the Wheatland Seniors' Lodge in Strathmore where she lived for seven years. She then moved to the Extended Care Facility, initially in Drumheller for eighteen months and then moved to the Strathmore Continuing Care Centre. The family is very grateful for all the excellent care she received from all her caregivers and Doctors. Theresa was predeceased by her loving husband Walter in 1966; a granddaughter Irene Healy; her parents Martin and Agnes Malinowski; and brother Peter. She is survived by her three children, Ted (Anita), Jim (Mary) and Irene (Harold) Heinzlmeir, seven grandchildren and ten great-grandchildren. Also surviving are her brother Karl, sister Pauline and numerous Bazant relatives. She was a member of Sacred Heart Parish in Strathmore and St. Pius X Parish in Calgary. She lived for her family, her home and church. A long life well lived. Rest in peace with Dad. Joan M. Covill 1943 - 2006 Joan M. Covill, 62, formerly of Riverview, passed away at Kenneth E. Spencer Memorial Home in Moncton on Monday, April 10, 2006. Born in Saint John, NB, she was the daughter of the late Howard and Marie (Mullin) Porter. Joan spent much of her early years growing up in Sunny Corner, NB. She was formerly employed with Co-op Atlantic, however retired early due to illness. Joan was a member of the MS Society. She enjoyed knitting as long as her health permitted, she later became a collector of angels. She will be sadly missed by her family. Joan is survived by her husband, Barry Covill of Moncton; son, David Beaumont (Holly) of Miramichi; daughter, Cheryl Steeves (Terry Gibson) of Upper Coverdale; step-daughter, Amanda Covill of Hamilton, ON; grandson, Mackenzie; her brother, Reg Porter (Betty) of Riverview and by several aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews and cousins. Martel, Urgel LA FAMILLE MARTEL a le regret de vous faire part du décès de Urgel Martel (enseignant) Ordre du Mérite scolaire à Embrun, le 8 avril 2006, dans sa quatre-vingt-seizième année, Urgel Martel, cher époux de feu Alice née Gratton (décédée le 15 janvier 2006). Il est né le 18 juin 1910, fils aîné de feu Damase Martel et de feu Mériza Lafortune. Il laisse ses enfants: Carmen (Bill), Simon (Patricia), Francine (David), Monique (feu François), Benoit (Barbara), Aline (Brian), Normand (Cindy), Denise (David), 16 petits-enfants et 6 arrière-petits-enfants. Il laisse aussi ses frères et soeurs: Rolland, Roméo, Gérard, Robert, Thérèse Séguin et Claire Bouchard, ainsi que plusieurs beaux-frères, belles-soeurs, neveux et nièces. Il fut précédé par une soeur, Jeannette et 4 frères: Raymond, Bernard, Marcel et Dorval. Sa vie a été consacrée à l'enseignement et il fut décoré de l'Ordre du Mérite scolaire après avoir passé 40 ans au sein des écoles de langue française de l'Ontario. À sa sortie de l'École Modèle d'Embrun, il a enseigné aux écoles #7 du rang St-André, et #4 du rang St-Guillaume. Il ira ensuite à Lemieux, Ansonville et Cyrville pour finir à Ste-Jeanne d'Arc de Westboro, où il y est resté 27 ans comme enseignant et directeur. À sa retraite, il revient à la maison paternelle où Alice et lui se joignent aux clubs récréatifs. Il est élu président du Club d'Age d'or, de 1979 à 1984, pour ensuite siéger sur le comité fondateur du centre Urgel Forget. En juillet 1998, Urgel et Alice déménagent au Pavillon. Beloved husband of the late Alice nee Gratton (deceased January 15th, 2006). He was born June 18th, 1910, eldest son of the late Damase Martel and the late Meriza Lafortune. He will be missed by his children: Carmen (Bill), Simon (Patricia), Francine (David), Monique (late Francois), Benoit (Barbara), Aline (Brian), Normand (Cindy), Denise (David), 16 grandchildren and 6 great grandchildren. He leaves his brothers and sisters: Rolland, Romeo, Gerard, Robert, Therese Seguin and Claire Bouchard, as well as many brothers-in-law, sisters-in-law, nephews and nieces. He was predeceased by one sister Jeannette and 4 brothers: Raymond, Bernard, Marcel and Dorval. Urgel dedicated 40 years of his life to education and received the Teacher's Merit Award of Ontario. After graduating from the Ecole Modele of Embrun, he taught at the #7 school of the rang St-Andre and the #4 school of the rang St-Guillaume. He then taught in Lemieux, Ansonville and Cyrville before settling at Ste Jeanne d'Arc in Westboro, where he remained 27 years as a teacher and principal. Following his retirement, Urgel returned to Embrun where he and Alice joined various Clubs. He was elected president of the Club d'Age d'Or from 1979 to 1984. He was a member of the founding committee of the Centre Urgel Forget. In July 1998, Urgel and Alice moved to Le Pavillon. The family would like to thank Jean, Suzanne and all the staff at Le Pavillon who provided such good care for them. Emma King 1915 - 2006_Au Manoir Victoria Glen de Perth-Andover, le lundi 10 avril 2006, à l'âge de 91 ans, est décédée Emma King, épouse de feu Claude King, domiciliée au Manoir Victoria Glen, mais autrefois de Grand-Sault. Née à Richibucto en 1915, elle était fille de feu James Alfred King et de feu Emma Jane Long. Mme King était vétéran de la deuxième guerre mondiale et membre des forces armées canadiennes. Elle était membre de la légion royale canadienne, filiale 21 de Grand-Sault et aussi membre des dames auxiliaires de la légion. Elle laisse dans le deuil un frère, Douglas Long de Moncton, ainsi que des neveux et nièces. La dépouille mortelle est exposée au salon Guy O'Regan, 515, boul. Everard Daigle à Grand-Sault. Les heures des visites seront le mercredi de 19h à 21h. Elle sera ensuite exposée à la Maison Funéraire Thompson, 33, rue Acadie à Richibucto, dimanche soir de 19h à 21h. PEDERSEN Anna Magrethe 1932 - 2006 It is with great sorrow and sadness that we announce the passing of Anna Magrethe (Ann) Pedersen (nee Jacobsen) on April 7, 2006 at her home in Lake Louise, Alberta. Anna Magrethe, born May 13, 1932 is survived by her loving husband Erling Pedersen; caring daughter Jane MacAulay of Bluffton, AB; and son Jack (Lana) Pedersen of Banff, AB; and precious grandchildren, Amanda, Cody and Caitlyn Pedersen. Also surviving is Ann's sister, Herdis Pfieffer and family of Victoria, BC; and sister-in-law Grethe Jacobsen and family of Denmark as well as other nieces, nephews and cousins. Ann was predeceased by her brother David (1971) and both her parents. Ann arrived in Canada on June 2, 1953 from Denmark for a three month holiday on farms around Calgary where her uncles and their families lived. Right away she new she loved the country and wide open spaces and returned to Denmark to bring Erling back with her. Erling and Ann immigrated to Canada in 1955 and started working in Banff, Alberta in the hotel/tourism industry. After enjoying working in the industry they went on to purchase Paradise Lodge and Bungalows in Lake Louise, Alberta. Ann loved working with her husband and having her family close with her as well as meeting people from around the world and making them feel welcome and part of her family. She shared her joy for the mountains and was so proud of the location that she had come to call home. Ann served as a member on the Banff Health Unit and the Lake Louise School Board, and was an active member of the Conservative Party. Ann enjoyed spending her retirement in Fairmont, BC and loved to have her grandchildren come and stay with her, play golf and pick the flowers. One of Ann's biggest enjoyments was being beside the water and she was given that opportunity in seeing her children and grandchildren play in the waters of Lake Windermere. DOERING Gunther Hermann 1924 - 2006 Gunther Doering, beloved husband of Anne Doering of Calgary, passed away on Monday, April 10, 2006 at the age of 81 years. Gunther was born on June 22, 1924 in Bremen, Germany. He made friends very easily and had a wry sense of humour. His inquisitiveness about the world around him came through in his work and the travels he made with Anne. His career in the Oil and Gas Industry took him to many interesting destinations. Gunther was also very involved with the American Association of Cost Engineers and was the past president of the Toronto Chapter. Family time was also very important to Gunther. His greatest joy was spent with his family, enjoying the outdoors. Besides his loving wife Anne of fifty-two years, Gunther is survived by Jennifer of Calgary, Lois and Brad Green of Barrie, ON, Paul and Karen of Ajax, ON; and three grandchildren, Danielle, James and Deedee. He was predeceased by his son John. BURKE William John Leonard 1912 - 2006 Len passed away peacefully at the Foothills Hospital after a brief illness on April 7, 2006. Len was born on the farm near Annerley, Sask., on October 31, 1912. He married Olive Anderson in 1932, and joined the R.C.A.F. in 1940, and was discharged in 1945. He served in England and Belgium. He moved to Calgary with his family and began working as a mechanic for Greyhound Bus Lines, then moved to Calgary Transit where he worked until retirement. He leaves to cherish his memory his daughter Linda (Harry) Imler; four grandchildren that he raised as his own, Eunice Befus, Cheri (John) Bherer, Wendy (Eugene) Romanowski and Brenda (June) Hughes; as well as two grandsons, Shawn (Michelle) Imler and Darren (Christie) Imler. Daniel Cory Yestrau May 21, 1958 - March 31, 2006 Cory passed peacefully at his home in St. George, New Brunswick on Friday, March 31, 2006. Born May 21, 1958 he lived most of his life in Winnipeg, Manitoba. Cory’s talent for music, singing and the love of the outdoors created a lot of good times for family and friends through the years. Biagio Damiani February 03, 1933 - April 10, 2006 Biagio Domenico (February 3, 1933 - April 10, 2006) Passed away at the age of 73, after a long and courageous illness. Biagio will be sadly missed by his beloved wife Mina, only daughter Patricia, and son-in-law Michael Lamont. Also deeply saddened are his much-loved grandchildren Sabrina and Shannon Lamont. He will join in heaven his brother Francesco, father Pio, and mother Antonia. He is survived by his sister-in-law Giovanna Damiani and nieces Marianne Napoleone, Pia DiGiacinto and their families. He will be missed by many relatives in Italy: Ermelinda, Mirella, Claudio DiCarlo and their families. Biagio was a loving husband, father, and grandfather. He worked many years at Dofasco, loved his hometown in Italy - Ripe - and in his younger years shared a passion for gardening, food, music, bocce, and best of all babysitting his cherished grandchildren Sabrina and Shannon. He will be missed by friends, neighbours and relatives, especially the DiCarlo family, with whom he spent many memorable events. "Dad, I love you and I already miss you immensely. You taught me many valuable lessons about life that no one else could - principles and the people that really matter. Most importantly, I wanted to thank you and Mom for raising me in a nurturing environment bursting with love.
