Au CHSLD de Beauceville, le 13 mars 2006, à l'âge de 94 ans et 3 mois, est décédée dame Julienne Chabot, épouse de feu Odilon Maheux. Elle demeurait à Vallée-Jonction. Les funérailles ont eu lieu samedi le 18 mars 2006 à 11h00 en l'église de Vallée-Jonction et de là, au cimetière paroissial. La direction des funérailles a été confiée à la maison funéraire Nouvelle Vie inc., Vallée-Jonction. Elle laisse dans le deuil ses enfants: Julien (Jeannine Dubuc), Roland (Gisèle Poulin), Cécile (Soeur de la Congrégation N.D.P.S), François (Diane Bradford), Rachel (feu Martin Morin), Laurette (Roger Bolduc), Laurent (Eddie Dabucol), Benoît (Lydia Desilets); ses 14 petits-enfants et ses 16 arrière-petits-enfants; elle était la soeur de feu Marie (feu Alphonse Richard), feu Samuel (feu Lumina Corriveau), feu Zélia (feu Eugène Lacombe), feu Gérard (feu Blanche), feu Joséphine (feu Antoine Chabot), feu Frédéric (feu Elise), feu Alice (feu Léonidas Poulin), Josaphat (feu Emilienne Mignault); elle laisse également dans le deuil plusieurs beaux-frères, belles-soeurs, neveux, nièces, cousins, cousines et amis. La famille Maheux désire remercier tous ceux qui l'ont accompagnée tout au long de sa maladie: le CLSC de Sainte-Marie, le CHSLD de Beauceville, Soeur Gisèle Langlois et le Foyer de Frampton. ROBSON Marion Edith 1918 - 2006 Marion Edith, beloved wife of George Robson of Calgary, passed away on Thursday, March 16, 2006 at the age of 87 years. Marion was born in Saskatchewan, but was raised in Brandon, MB, where she attended school. As a young woman she moved to Brock, SK to live with her sister Pearl "Mickey" and her husband Dr. Bill Black. It was in Brock that Marion met her husband George. They were married in September 1940. George's involvement in the Airforce brought them to be stationed in Winnipeg, MB and later Grand Prairie, AB. Upon George's discharge they settled in Brock, SK, where they resided until August 2003. The last few years Marion and George have enjoyed life at the Renoir Lodge in Calgary, and have made numerous new friends. Besides her loving husband George, Marion is remembered by her children, Myfanwy "Robbi" (Gerry Martini) of Calgary, Marilyn (Bert Gray) of Brock, SK, Joan Waddell of Red Deer, AB, Arlene (Lorne Staples) of Kindersley, SK, Brent (Lorna) Robson of Camrose, AB, Deirdre (Carey Hay) of Red Deer, AB; seventeen grandchildren, Michele (Neil Braithwaite), Kelly (Jerry Holyoak), Pam (John Wack), Nicole Crawford, Tanya Waddell, Angela Gray, Randy Waddell, Steven Robson, Ryan Staples, Reece Gray, Karie Robson, Jamie Hay, Duane Hay, Malorie Staples, Megan Hay, Morgan Hay, Carly Staples; six great-grandchildren, Dawn (Weston Pring), Dawson Wack, Kendra Wack, Chandler Holyoak, Zoe Holyoak, Abrianna Waddell; as well as one great-great-grandchild Kaydan Pring. BRANSCOMBE, STERLING WARREN At the Dr. Everett Chalmers Hospital, on March 17, 2006 Sterling Warren Branscombe, 81 years of age, husband of the late Ramona Pearl (Bishop) Branscombe. Survived by one daughter, Paulette (Dale) of Cumberland Bay, one sister Glenna (Malcolm) McNamara of Hardwood Ridge, three grandchildren Wanda (Dwayne), Douglas (Tamara) and Peter, five great grandchildren Jarrett, Bailey, Taylor, Lucas and Grace, and also survived by several nieces and nephews. Predeceased by his wife Ramona Pearl (Bishop) Branscombe, his parents Hazen and Maud (Boyd) Branscombe, three sisters Geraldine, Sara and Lorna and two brothers Clayton and Douglas Branscombe. Sterling was a member of St. Augustine's Anglican Church, Chipman and he was an avid bowler at Chipman Bowlaroma. GUST, ANNIE Born in Ontario March 29, 1918 It is with deep sorrow we announce the passing of our grandmother and great grandmother Annie. God put His arms around you on March 15, 2006 to take you home after enduring several years of declining health with grace and great dignity. Survived by grandson Keith, granddaughter-in-law Jackie and great grandson Jacob. Dorothea Elizabeth (Beck) Robichaud 1929 - 2006 REXTON, NB - Dorothy passed away suddenly at the Lions Nursing Home, Rexton on March 17, 2006 at age 77. Born in Beersville, NB, she was the daughter of the late Edward Sinton and Blanche Ethelinda (Cail) Beck. Survived by one son, Gordon Beck of Saint John; two granddaughters, Tracey and Kimberly and one grandson all of Saint John; sisters, Lillian Little of Beersville, Linda West (Larry) of Houston, Texas and Emily Beck of Saint John; brother, Milton (Simonne) Beck of Saint John. She is also survived by two aunts, Doris (Cail) Morton of West Branch, Muriel (Cail) Wilbur of Moncton and one uncle, Jasper Cail of Hampton; several nieces, nephews and cousins. Dorothy worked in early years at McNairn's Hotel, Rexton and the Admiral Beatty Hotel, Saint John. She was step-mother of the Ferris children, Linda, Betty Ann, Donnie and Rose of Saint John. She has been in Nursing Homes since the age of 54. Predeceased by her husband, Amie Robichaud; brother and sister-in-law, Sidney and Janet Beck of Rexton and brother-in-law and niece, Eldon and Andrea Little of Beersville. Kathy, formerly of Montreal, was the daughter of the late Lajos and Violet Bruck. Kathy worked as a marketer at WHNS Fox Carolina, and performed as a comedienne and actress a numerous events in Spartanburg. She was known for her comedic wit and good humour. OUELLETTE, Jean-Guy Hector It is with great sadness that we announce that Jean-Guy Ouellette passed away peacefully after a courageous battle with cancer on Thursday March 16, 2006, at the Ottawa Hospital General campus, at age 69. He is survived by his dearly beloved wife Carmelita (nee Sullivan), his children Richard, John, Don and Chantal, as well as 7 grandchildren. He worked at Spruce Falls mill in Kapuskasing for over 30 years, was known as an avid hunter, fisherman and trapper, and was an ardent Ottawa Senators fan. He is survived by brothers Maurice, Rheal, Roger, and his sister Yolande, and is pre-deceased by sisters Jeanine, Gilberte and Denise. À l’hôpital Notre-Dame de Fatima de La Pocatière, le 11 mars 2006, à l’âge de 73 ans et 4 mois, est décédée dame Monique Lévesque, fille de feu Joseph Lévesque et de feu Émilina Paquet. Elle demeurait à La Pocatière. Le service religieux a été célébré le vendredi 17 mars 2006, à 14h, en la cathédrale Ste-Anne-de-la-Pocatière et de là au crématorium. Les cendres seront inhumées ultérieurement au cimetière de Rivière-Ouelle. Elle laisse dans le deuil ses frères et ses sœurs : Rose (feu Raymond Côté), François et son épouse Rachel, Rosaire et son épouse Élisabeth, Marcelle (feu Rino Guerette); ses enfants de cœur Serge et Lorraine; ses anges gardiens Rachel-Anne et Jean-Louis; sa petite princesse Sara-Eve; ainsi que plusieurs neveux, nièces, petits-neveux, petites-nièces, cousins, cousines, tous ses proches et amis qui l’ont accompagnée tout au long de sa maladie. Kerri MacKinnon In loving memory of our Kerri, who passed away on March 12, 2006 at the age of 25. A beautiful, vibrant spirit, she will be missed immensely and immeasurably by the numerous people whose lives she touched. Born on June 16, 1980 in Taegu, Kerri spent her first 3 years in South Korea, where days were spent traveling at her dad's side, swimming with her mom, and basking in the love and affection of both. From here, the MacKinnon family then moved to Leaf Rapids, MB. For the next 9 years, Kerri thrived on all that the town had to offer - figure skating, skiing, dance, and Brownies to name a few. Summers were the happiest of all, spent every year poolside at her grandparents' home in Massachusetts with her little sister at her side. Kerri was a true big sister, being a best friend as well as a playmate - fun, loving, and always there to provide comfort and advice. This infectious personality and generous nature also enabled her to make friends wherever she went, a trend which would only strengthen and follow her through her early years in Peabody, MA, Winnipeg, and Cross Lake. Finally arriving in Winnipeg, Kerri attended high school at Silver Heights Collegiate where she excelled academically (as she always had) and was chosen as valedictorian of her graduating class of 1997. Kerri continued on to the University of Manitoba, majoring in Microbiology. It was here where Kerri discovered her love of all things theatre related, and led to her beginnings as both an actress and director. She had vital roles, both behind the curtain and on stage, in productions of the Black Hole Theatre, the Fringe Festival and at Celebrations. As she passionately pursued acting, audiences and critics alike were always quick to praise her open and honest performances. In 2002, Kerri met Jason who proceeded to sweep her off her high-heeled feet. A year later, the two began their life together, relocating to Moncton, NB. Once again, Kerri had no trouble making new friends and she was quick to embrace all that her new life had to offer - snowstorms, lobsters and all. In 2004, Kerri and Jason made their move to Surrey, BC. A true domestic goddess, Kerri was immensely happy here - splitting her time between her life with Jason, her new group of friends, and her love of baking. She also took a great deal of pleasure in the many trips that she and Jason were able to make, the most recent being to Cuba, as she came back tanned and as gorgeous as ever. She was also greatly looking forward to becoming an aunt, with the upcoming birth of the newest member of the family. Kerri was predeceased by her father, Hugh Neil MacKinnon (January 18, 2006). She leaves behind, to celebrate her life, her mother Sue, her partner Jason Hayes, her sister and best friend Maghan (Dennis), her brothers Hugh and Michael (Kat), best friend Jackie, along with numerous relatives, a large extended family, especially Nancy and Brian Shellrude, Brian Hayes, David and Stacey Hayes, and many, many friends. A memorial service will be held on Sunday, March 19 at Chapel Lawn Memorial Gardens and Funeral Home at 4000 Portage Avenue in Winnipeg, MB at 2 pm. The family will observe Shiva, (a period of mourning,) at their home. Guests are welcome from 2pm to 9pm, from March 19th to the 24th. GALARNEAU Albert Henry The family of Albert Galarneau is sad to announce his passing on Tuesday, March 14, 2006 at the age of 93. Left to mourn is his devoted wife of 68 years, Rita; his four children, Jack (Raphaela), Raymond, Dave (Jay) and MaryLou (Jim Dauncey); seven grandchildren; four great-grandchildren, and one sister, Claudia Peake. He was predeceased by brothers Fred and Arthur, and by son Terry, in 1973. Albert was born January 22, 1913, in Bassano, Alberta, to Rose and Doan Galarneau. He grew up in the Bassano Crawling Valley area where he developed a lifelong love for the prairies and for ranch life. His skillful roping, a necessity of cowboy life, led to a long and successful rodeo career. He entered his first rodeo at the Calgary Stampede in 1931. He won at numerous rodeos throughout Alberta and Saskatchewan, and went on to win the North American Calf-roping Championship at the Calgary Stampede in 1937, 1938 and 1946. Albert was proud to be the 12th contestant to be inducted into the Canadian Rodeo Hall of Fame in November, 1986. He was recently honored in Edmonton, as the only living founding director of the Cowboys Protective Association. Albert bought his first ranch in 1941, the present site of the Calgary Stampede Ranch, at Sunnynook, Alberta. Over the following five decades he ranched at Leader, SK (1956), Craigmyle, AB (1966), and Youngstown, AB (1977). He enjoyed retirement in Hanna, Alberta, but remained actively involved in the ranch until his late eighties. Albert was a welcome roper at brandings, never missing a season from 1923 through 2004, his ninety-first year. Albert will be sorely missed by his family and a wealth of friends, young and old. We should all take comfort in knowing that he will live on in our memories through the retelling of his many humorous yarns of rodeo and ranching days. The family wishes to thank the staff at the Hanna Hospital and the Hanna Continuing Care Center for their compassionate care and unfailing support. RATH Julia "Julie" Dorthy Julie Rath passed away peacefully to be with the Lord at the Foothills Hospital on Thursday, March 16, 2006 at the age of 79 years, after a long, courageous battle with cancer. Julie will be lovingly remembered by her husband Frank of forty-eight years; son Michael Rath (Heather Gimblett and children); daughter Michelle (Michael) Cuncannon. Also survived by her sisters, Helen Lysak, Sophie (Ezio) Gardin; and brother Peter (Betty) Lysak, all of Lethbridge; as well as her sister-in-law Cathy (Gary) Hass. Julie will be dearly missed by her grandsons, Maxwell and Alexander Cuncannon and by many nieces and nephews. She was a wonderful wife, mother and grandmother who ensured her family always came first. She had a passion for gardening, cooking and loved to spend quality time with her grandchildren. In her younger years, Julie loved to dance and golf. She will always be remembered for her love of life, her great spirit, her generosity and kindness. LEE, Royden F. - Peacefully on February 24, 2006 at Deer Lodge Centre, Royden F. Lee slipped away from the joys and hardships of this world. He will be sadly missed by his daughters, Linda and Luella, his grandson Andrew, his son-in-law Larry, his older sister Ina (Lee) Hutchison, his niece Catherine, as well as his friends, former students and colleagues. Royden was predeceased by his beloved wife Shirley. He and Shirley immediately connected when they first met at the United College Literary Club. They both graduated from United College (B.A. 1947) and continued their life together for over 50 years. They were constant companions, sharing a passion for poetry, a love of animals, a zeal for “rock hounding” in Montana, and an enjoyment of intellectual argument. Their Waverley Street home and their Sandy Hook cottage were always open to many young people who grew up in the River Heights neighbourhood. Born in 1917, to Reverend Fred and Ida (Gibson) Lee, Royden spent his life giving service to his country and his community. With some regret he left his new found love of teaching and volunteered for overseas service in the Second World War becoming a navigator in the Royal Canadian Air Force. Upon his return, he enrolled in United College and was elected Senior Stick in his final year. His commitment to University of Winnipeg continued after graduation, serving for many years on the Board of Regents. Royden served his community in many ways, as a Scout leader, a Sunday school teacher, and a church elder. However, Royden will be best remembered as an educator. A fervent advocate for public education, he was a teacher in rural Manitoba and in Winnipeg, English Department Head at Gordon Bell High School, curriculum consultant, school inspector in Seven Oaks School Division, and Director of Teacher Certification and Records. Many Manitoba educators still carry his signature on their teaching certificates. He chaired curriculum development committees, promoted professional development for teachers, was active in the Reading Council of Winnipeg, and helped establish the Program for the Education of Native Teachers (PENT) at Brandon University, to name a few of his accomplishments. In 1986, the Manitoba Teachers' Society bestowed on him an Honorary Membership “as a token of esteem in which he is held by the members of the Manitoba Teachers' Society and in appreciation of his many services to Education in Manitoba.” Equally telling is the fact that former students continued to stay in touch with Royden up to the time of his death through visits, letters, and special Christmas packages. Royden's sense of humour was a defining trait, although not always immediately obvious to others as his “distinguished” presence was often first noticed. Royden was a literary person, curler, storyteller, musician, lapidarist, animal-lover, dedicated educator, and - as so many have recently observed - “a gentleman and a gentle man.” We shall miss him. The family would like to express their heartfelt thanks to the committed and compassionate staff at Deer Lodge Centre who made special efforts to know and care for Royden during the last few months of his life. Cremation has taken place. A memorial service will be held at St. Andrews River Heights United Church at 1:00 p.m. Friday, March 3, 2006 to celebrate Royden's life. Following the service, starting at 3:00 p.m., friends are invited to 84 Dunraven Ave. for an informal reception. Anyone wishing to honour Royden's life may do so by contributing to the University of Winnipeg Foundation or The Winnipeg Humane Society.

MICELI, Carmine - In loving memory of Carmine Miceli, 85 years, who passed away Thursday, March 16, 2006 at Extendicare Falconbridge. Born October 1, 1920, Calabria Italy. Dear son of Antonio and Maria (Urso) predeceased. Dear brother of Gina Scornaienchi of Sault Ste. Marie, Annina, Marica and Salvatore of Italy and Emilio, Agata and Franco (predeceased). Sadly missed by grand nieces, grand nephews, nieces, nephews, many family members and friends. After serving in World War II in the Italian army, Carmine decided to join other family members in Canada. Arriving in 1950 Carmine worked for 31 years at INCO's transportation department. Affectionately known as Humpy Carmine retired in 1982 to make room for the younger guys. He enjoyed family gatherings where he could always be heard reminiscing about the good old days. He enjoyed telling stories about the good times, hunting and hiking a la farma. It was also his opportunity to sit and extend a generous handshake to the young ones. He would always call it a contribution to their education fund. Many thanks to the 2nd Floor staff at Extendicare Falconbridge who showed him compassion and attentive care during his brief stay. In his memory a donation to the charity of your choice or an act of kindness to another in honour of those who showed kindness to our Zio would be greatly appreciated. LESPÉRANCE, Zotique Paisiblement et entouré de sa famille, est décédé le 12 mars 2006, dans sa 96e année, M. Zotique Lespérance. Lui survivent son épouse Brigitte Poisson, sa soeur Hélène, sa belle-soeur Jacqueline, ses enfants Micheline, Pierre et Ginette et ses petits-enfants Marie-Catherine, Marie Isabelle et Éric. Né à Montréal, le 16 novembre 1910, il a été pendant plus de 25 ans, une des grandes voix du Sport au Québec à titre de commentateur de «Bonsoir Les Sportifs» au poste CKAC, en plus d'être rédacteur sportif pour plusieurs journaux quotidiens et hebdomadaires, tels que: Le Petit Journal, Le Miroir Des Sports, L'Illustration, Le Montréal Matin et principalement La Patrie. Il se lança en 1946, dans le monde des affaires pour la compagnie Molson où il a occupé les fonctions de directeur des ventes, vice-président et adjoint au Président. Il a été l'un des responsables de la venue de Jean Béliveau à Montréal au sein du Club de Hockey Canadien. Au nom de la famille Molson, il a participé à l'achat du Club de Hockey Canadien et du Forum de Montréal, en 1957. Par la suite vint la création du Fonds Jean Béliveau en 1971. Il a aussi été membre de la ligue du vieux poêle au Forum de Montréal et a participé à la production bilingue des films des séries éliminatoires de la Coupe Stanley de 1953 à 1969. Il a reçu l'ordre du Canada en 1984 grâce à son dévouement communautaire et sportif. Il fut aussi nommé au Temple de la Renommé du Hockey en 1985. Durant toute sa vie, il s'est dévoué constamment à titre d'administrateur de plusieurs organisations charitables, de la Chambre de Commerce et de plusieurs associations sportives. Une fois à la retraite, il est demeuré actif à titre de gouverneur de l'office du Tourisme et des Congrès, secrétaire trésorier du Fonds Jean Béliveau, président honoraire à vie de la colonie de vacances Ste-Jeanne d'Arc, président des Amis des Disciples de Massenet, membre du conseil de bureau d'éthique commerciale, membre de la Fondation de Kiwanis, des clubs St-Denis et Laval-sur-le-lac, etc. Selon sa volonté, il n'a pas été exposé, mais une cérémonie commémorative privée a eu lieu pour sa famille et quelques amis. Des dons à la Fondation Alzheimer ou à la Fondation Notre-Dame-de-la-Merci du CSSS du Nord de l'Île et Saint-Laurent, pavillon Saint-Joseph de la Providence, seraient appréciés. He was in his ninety-sixth year. Born in Montreal on November 16, 1910, he was for over twenty-five years one of the leading Sports broadcasters in the province of Quebec with his Good Evening Sports fans broadcast on CKAC Radio. He was also a sports writer and editor for many Quebec newspapers: Le Petit Journal, Le Mirroir des Sports, L'Illustration, le Montreal Matin, La Patrie. In 1946, Molson's Brewery hired him as Sales Promotion Manager; thereafter he held other executive positions, as, director of Public Relations, assistant to the President and Vice-President. In 1953 on behalf of Senator Hartland Molson he recruited the great Jean Beliveau from the Quebec Aces. In 1957 on behalf of the Molson family he was involved in Molson's acquisition of the Montreal Canadiens and the Montreal Forum. In 1971 he assisted in the creation of the Jean Beliveau Foundation which supported underprivileged Canadian youth. From 1953 to 1969, Mr. Lesperance was responsible for the production of the bilingual National Hockey League Stanley Cup Finals films. He earned the Order of Canada in 1984 and was elected to the Hockey Hall of Fame as a sports writer in 1985. For over fifty-five years he served his community in many capacities. He was a past president of the Montreal Chamber of Commerce, former president of many charitable fundraising campaigns and Governor of the Montreal St. Lawrence Kiwanis Club and the Ontario-Quebec and Maritimes district. He also presided over the activities of the Modern Pentathlon Association of Canada and the International championships in 1975. According to his wish a funeral was not held but a private celebration of his life took place for his family and a few friends. ZAOZIRNY Katherine 1916 - 2006 Katherine (Kay) Zaozirny, beloved wife and partner in life of John Zaozirny for over sixty-six years, passed away peacefully in Calgary on March 14, 2006. She died as she lived - with grace and dignity. Kay was born in Bellis, Alberta, where her father owned the general store. She later carried on that family business tradition with husband John in the hotel and wholesale businesses where she played an active role. She was the eldest of ten children and spent many childhood hours rocking her brothers and sisters in a wooden rocking chair that eventually wore out. She loved school and attended Camrose Normal School for teacher training and after graduation, taught in one and two-room schools in northern Alberta. Kay loved to teach. In 1939, at Mundare, she married John Zaozirny, then a two-room school principal. In 1947, they took over the East Coulee Hotel in the Drumheller Valley and began the small business adventure that would eventually bring them to Calgary. In later life Kay most enjoyed working in her home, focussing on her family, and caring for her garden. She lovingly planted and tended her garden in her last summer on earth. She also delighted in her friends and neighbours on Imperial Way, her visits to Lunch Box Theatre, and her investment club. She loved the English language and always had the perfect original turn of phrase for the occasion. She believed in being the best you can be and lived her life accordingly. Kay will be remembered for her elegance, grace and dignity. She was a classy lady and a beautiful woman who exemplified her own preferred taste for "quiet elegance". Her greatest love was her family, her greatest lesson to her loved ones was the extraordinary courage and good humour with which she battled her illness, and her greatest legacy is her lifelong example of love without measure for her family. She will be forever lovingly remembered by her devoted husband John; her children, Judy and John (Lori); her grandsons, John, Stephen and Andrew and their mother Elizabeth; her brothers and sisters, Steve, Lil, Mae, Ted, Lawrence and Nelson; and her many nephews and nieces. She was predeceased by her father George, her mother Dora, and her brothers George, Alex and Bill. Funeral Services will be held at Living Spirit United Church, 900 - 47 Avenue S.W., Calgary, on Saturday, March 25, 2006, at 2:00 p.m., with a Reception to follow at the Calgary Golf and Country Club. SMITH Margaret Ann (nee Cragg) January 26, 1911 - March 11, 2006 Peacefully on Saturday, March 11, 2006, Margaret passed away at the age of 95 years. Margaret was born in Calgary and was raised in Bow City, Alberta. She was the youngest and last surviving of six children born to Margaret and Ozzie Cragg, pioneers in the Eyremore district, west of Brooks. Margaret is lovingly remembered for her fine sense of humour and love of "pattering" in the garden. She resided in Calgary for many years - an enthusiastic Flames fan, a member of Woodcroft United Church. She will be missed by her three daughters, Joan Marshall, Janet (Dennis) Lawson and Kathryn Clarke; five grandchildren and six great-grandchildren. Margaret was predeceased by her husband, Kilburn King (K.K.) Smith. Respecting her wishes, she has been cremated. Samedi, jour des funérailles, le salon ouvrira à compter de 8 h 30. Les funérailles auront lieu le samedi 18 mars 2006 à 10 h à l’église St-Dominique de Jonquière. Mme Voyer sera inhumée au cimetière de Shipshaw. Elle laisse dans le deuil ses frères: Albert Voyer (Gisèle Brassard), feu René Voyer (Jeanne d’Arc Bergeron), feu Léon Voyer (Florence Boivin), Fernand Voyer (Fernande Deschênes), Arsène Voyer (Gisèle Gagnon; ses sœurs: Cécile Voyer, Sr Rollande Voyer (Sr Antonienne de Marie). Elle laisse également plusieurs neveux et nièces, parents et amis.
