Josephine Corsini (née Agro) January 31, 1913 - January 31, 2006 Peacefully, surrounded by her family, on her 93rd Birthday at Shalom Village Nursing Home. Beloved wife and partner of Ennio for 62 years. Dearest mother and mother-in-law of Madeline and Bob Toole, Linda and Dr. Gerald Munt. Ron and Marisa Corsini, Virginia and Tim Baird. Loving grandma to Jeff and Colleen Toole, Lisa DeSantis, Carla and Greg Soltesz, Andrea and Robert Molinaro. Leanne, Jason, Mark, and Michelle Baird, and Serena Corsini-Munt. Adoring great-grandma of Hayden. Tyler, Sara, Madison and Julia. Josephine is survived by her brother Sam and Mary Agro. and sister-in-law Laura Corsini. TRACH: 'Betty' Henrietta Elizabeth (King) 1929 - 2006 "Betty" Henrietta Elizabeth (King) Trach was born November 28, 1929 in Delia, Alberta and passed away January 22, 2006. Her parents were Alice and Joseph Fulton. She was raised in the Delia area. Betty married Norman Cooper King. Betty and Norman had three children, JoAnne, Pat and Shelley. Betty is survived by her children JoAnne (King) and her husband Wayne Baird, Pat and Muriel King, and Shelley and Dale Morgan. Also surviving are her brothers Jim Fulton, Baxter (Alice) Fulton, Ken (Linda) Fulton; and sisters Isabelle (Bob) Sinclair and Marion (Alvin) Tario. Also surviving are her grandchildren Karen, Aaron, Patrick, Tom, Bob, Carly and Oliver and many nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by her brother Kelly Fulton. Betty was widowed and two years later married William Trach on July 27, 1968. They moved to Camrose and worked and lived there until they retired in Drumheller. After retirement they did some travelling and took numerous camping and fishing trips in the area. Betty's health had been poor for many years and was admitted to the Drumheller Nursing Home where she resided until she moved to the Didsbury Nursing Home to be closer to her children. Betty's funeral was held on Saturday, January 28, 2006 at 11 AM. in the Courtney-Winter's Chapel in the Valley and was officiated by Father Wayne Poile of St. Anthony's Roman Catholic Church of Drumheller. Special musical selections included "Amazing Grace" and "Just A Closer Walk With Thee" After the interment at the Drumheller Cemetery the family warmly welcomed everyone to join them at the St. Anthony's Parish Hall at 1:00 PM for a time of refreshment and fellowship. BARNES: Chester Thomas George January 13, 1930 - January 25, 2006 Chester Barnes long time resident of Drumheller passed away peacefully on January 25, 2006 at the Drumheller Health Center °© Acute Care. Chester was born in York Township, Ontario on January 13, 1930. Cheste's childhood and early adult years were spent in Ontario, however, in the 1950's he left Ontario and ventured out West. Chester's love of the outdoors, a passion for horses and desire to always put in full day's hard work drew him into the farming / ranching industry, where he worked as a ranch hand. Chester's work took him to many areas throughout southern Alberta; however, he eventually settled in Drumheller. Chester will be lovingly remembered by his daughter Kansus (James), son Johnny (Tammy), grandchildren Lauren, Logan, Lane, Teresca, and Jaylene, brothers Bill (Pat), Bruce (Marilyn), sisters Bernice (Walter), May (Fred), Joyce (Bill) and several nieces and nephews. Chester is predeceased by his mother Etta, father George, and brothers John and Wayne. A memorial service was held at the Drumheller Cemetery on Tuesday January 31, 2006 at 11:00 am. GOBBO, Geno It is with heavy heart that the family announces the death of Geno Gobbo at 6:50 PM, January 30, 2006 at Laurentian Hospital Palliative Care Unit at the age of 87 years. A friend, brother, father, grandfather has taken his gentle leave to join his father, Joseph, and mother, Augusta, brothers Arthur, Carlo & Francis, sisters Alba, Rita & Nora, wife Margaret, and friends in the afterlife. Geno is survived by sister Ida Clairmont of Parry Sound, brothers Pete (wife Noella) of Coniston and Andy (wife Helen) Gobbo of Sudbury, daughters Patricia Duffy (partner Ed Vitali) of Sudbury, Linda Gobbo (husband Guy Potvin) of Welland, sons Cranston Gobbo (wife Joanna Bain) of Los Angeles, and Terry Gobbo (wife Sandy) of Coniston, grandchildren Michael Duffy and James Duffy (fiancé Kira), TJ Gobbo, Corey Gobbo, nieces & nephews and many other surrogate grandchildren & friends too many to name. Geno was an avid volunteer in the Coniston Community helping to build the Coniston Curling Rink, The Club Allegri, St. Paul the Apostle Church, The Coniston Fire Department and many other community facilities. Geno retired from INCO in 1980 with 42 years service. He retired from the Coniston Volunteer Fire Department as Captain with over 30 years service. Geno remained an avid sportsman well into his 80's enjoying hunting, golfing, baseball, soft ball, hockey, curling and following snowmobile racing. Even at 77 years young, he was still refereeing for the Coniston Flyers. Geno's involvement with the Coniston Curling Rink continued well into this current season. We wish to thank the kindness of Dr. Want, Dr. Natalie Roy, Dr. Sami and all the nurses of Laurentian Hospital's 8th & 4th floors. Family will receive friends at JACKSON AND BARNARD FUNERAL HOME, 233 Larch Street, Sudbury on Friday, February 3, 2006 from 2:00 - 5:00 PM (Prayers at 3:00 PM) and 7:00 - 9:00 PM. She was born in Sudbury, October 7th, 1913 and resided in the Sudbury District all of her life. Marjorie, who was the sister of Melvin (Muriel), Lorena (Keith Webb), Helen McGregor, Herbert (Ruth), and Raymond (Marie) was predeceased by all of her siblings. Loving mother of Iris Duhaime (Réal) of Dowling, Early of Winnipeg, Doris Harkins (Dudley) of Oakville, Eunice Palffy (Peter) of Kent, Ohio, Alice Scally of Dowling, Avis Boyd of Sudbury, Byron (predeceased in 2000), and foster mother to Shelley Kholsmith of Toronto. Dear grandmother of Kevin, Trevor, Kelly, Nicole, and Colleen. Mrs. Boyd was a charter member of the Berean Baptist Church in Sudbury and was actively engaged in sending out literature for the Bible Lovers' Fellowship for many years. BUCHY, Freddy James In loving memory of Freddy James Buchy, 46 years who passed away Sunday evening, January 29th, 2006 at the Sudbury Regional Hospital - St. Joseph Health Center. Born in Sudbury, he married Deborah in 1990. Fred was dedicated to his work as manager of Equipment World for the past 15 years, where he earned the admiration of his co-workers. He had hockey in his blood, coaching Bantam and Midget levels, volunteering for Minor Hockey administration and of course cheering for his Toronto Maple Leafs. Freddy was an avid reader, enjoyed golf, travelling and fishing. He had a great sense of humour and was always ready with a practical joke. He was proud to live in Walden and never wanted to leave his home. Freddy touched so many lives, his legacy will live on in the hearts of his family and friends. LEPISTO, Sanni A. (Bunda) In loving memory of Sanni A. Lepisto (Bunda), 87 years who passed away peacefully Monday morning, January 30th, 2006 at the Finlandia Nursing Home. Born in Karjala, Finland and moved to Canada in 1952 settling in Sudbury in 1953. Sanni worked as a custodian at the Department of Highway Office and The Sudbury School Board until her retirement in 1983. She enjoyed baking, cooking and gardening. She loved singing and was part of the Finnish Ladies Choir and Gymnastics Club. Beloved wife of Toivo Lepisto and partner of Charles Hongel both predeceased. Loving mother to Irma (husband George), Tuula (partner Mauno), Andrew and Christine (partner Clyde). Cherished grandmother of Edward (partner Sarah), Sheila, Cheryl (husband Ron), Collin, Kevin (wife Tammy), Cory, Kelly (husband Kevin), Christopher (partner Merinda), Jaymes and Raija and great-grandchildren John Anthony, Vanna. Ashlee, Amber, Johnathan, Branden, Jakob and the newest addition expected in May. Predeceased by her parents Viljo and Helma Bunda and her brother Viljo. TALEVI, Guido "Uncle Flash" In loving memory of Guido "Uncle Flash" Talevi, 90 years, who passed away Sunday, January 29th, 2006 at the Sudbury Regional Hospital - St. Joseph's Health Centre. Born in Montreal, he was married to Tarzie for 65 years. Uncle Flash worked for 50 years as a master mechanic and shop foreman at Cecchettos. He enjoyed tinkering and fixing cars, and he loved to spend time at his camp "Rocky Acres" on Clearwater Lake. Uncle Flash lived life to its fullest, a patient and kind hearted man, he was generous to a fault. He leaves a rich legacy of what is best in this world a good man who lived a good life, he will live on in each and every person he touched. KRAFT, Manfred Manfred Kraft passed away peacefully on Sunday, January 29, 2006 at the age of 69 years. CHEVALIER, Michel Philippe Born in Montreal July 1st, 1924 to Philippe and Alice Chevalier (nee Geoffrion). Died January 15th, 2006 in Toronto. A veteran of the Second World War, in 1951 Michel married Jean MacGregor whom he leaves along with four of his children (his youngest daughter and fifth child, Dominique, predeceased him in 1991), six grandchildren, and his sister Rita. During the early part of his career he was active in the Montreal business community with the Canadian Federation of Mayors and Municipalities, the Canadian Chamber of Commerce and the Montreal Citizen's Committee. He went on to found his own business, Chevalier Associates. Michel received his PhD in City Planning from the University of Pennsylvania in 1967 and then was director of Penn's Institute for Environmental Studies for two years. Returning to Montreal in 1969, he was on the faculty of l'Universite de Montreal (l'Institut d'Urbanisme: Directeur 1967 - 1970, Professeur titulaire 1968 - 1988) and York University (Faculty of Environmental Studies, Professor 1969 - 1992). Michel was passionate about his work and was involved in countless community and international projects. The family property in Oka was a precious part of his life from early childhood and many happy family gatherings took place there over the years. Michel bore his long illness with courage and a sweet dignity. Heartfelt thanks to K3 Centre at Sunnybrook Hospital Veteran's Wing, and to his primary care nurses, Anne-Marie and Maria. A private service was held at St. Paul's Church on Bloor St. in Toronto. Internment will take place in the family plot at Notre-Dame-des-Neiges Cemetery in Montreal. Vera Mason, 89 Vera Mason, a resident of Broadview Nursing Home, Smiths Falls, died in Smiths Falls on Jan. 6, 2006 at the age of 89. She was born on Nov. 5, 1916 at Catalina, Newfoundland. She married Patrick Mason and was a homemaker. Her main interests were her family and friends and her faith. She is survived by her sons Ray (Carolyn), Patrick (Lucille) and Clayton (Wendy), daughter Marie (Micheal Aube), grandchildren Michelle, Michael, Lisa, Julie, Kevin, Kenny, Kurt, Garry and Mike and by her 17 great grandchildren. HELENE REKRUT After a long and courageous battle with cancer, Helene Rekrut passed away at the Fort Saskatchewan Health Centre in Fort Saskatchewan, Alta. on Thursday, Jan. 19, 2006. She was born Nov. 16, 1932 in Sundown, Man. to the late Steve and Annie Eluik. Mourning her loss are her children, Sharon (Bill) Parsons, William (Lois) Rekrut, and Patricia (Mel) Rekrut; as well as two grandsons, Jacob Rekrut and Nikola Rekrut. Also surviving are her brothers, Paul (Beverly) Eliuk, Mike (Marie) Eliuk, John (Judy) Eluik, and Nick (Sonja) Eluik; as well as sisters, Mary Holland, Iris (Leo) Langlois, and Alice (Roger) Lougheed. Helene also leaves behind numerous nieces and nephews who will miss her and the special things that she did for them. Some of them only called her “Baba.” Helene was predeceased by her parents; brother, William; sister, Lillian Lindholm; and an infant daughter, Lori Ann. Helene spent many years working for Grey Goose Bus Lines and was affectionately known as “Mother Goose.” After retiring, she moved to Sundown, where she enjoyed her gardening, knitting, and long walks. She made sure that all who visited her never left without tasting her “great Ukrainian cooking.” Three years ago, she made the big move from Sundown to Fort Saskatchewan to be closer to her children and grandchildren.
