PAGET, Frances Lillian - of Sundridge, after 84 years as a loving wife and mother, sister and grandmother, Fran Paget passed away surrounded by her family on Sunday, January 15, 2006. She was predeceased by her husband J. Ross Paget and six brothers and sisters. She is survived by her daughters Mary Adams and Myrna (Warren) Hickingbottom and sadly missed by granddaughters Mary Beth (Vince) Caliciuri and Colene Hickingbottom. She had a special place in her heart for her great-grandchildren Anthony and Katie Caliciuri. Fran is also survived by two sisters Dot and Eileen. She also has left grieving many nieces, nephews and friends. Fran was an active member for many years in the Sundridge Happy Gang and St. Paul's ACW. She was an example of fun and laughter to us all. MURRAY, Jerome T. (Jerry) Jerome T. (Jerry) Murray, 77, died at home in Tucson on Wednesday, January 11, 2006, surrounded by family and friends, after a long illness. Born in Chicago, he moved to Tucson in 1991, together with his wife, Marilyn Judy Murray. He was predeceased by his parents, Thomas Cornelius Murray and Ruth Goldsberry Murray, and by his only sister, Joan Murray Nohava. In addition to his wife, Jerry is survived by his three daughters, Terry Murray of Toronto, Ontario; Roxe Murray of Ottawa, Ontario; and Margaret Murray (Kathryn Moon) of Iowa City, Iowa. He was a veteran of the Korean conflict, serving as a corporal in the US army. A funeral will be held on Monday, January 16 in Tucson with burial at Our Lady of the Desert Cemetery. VOLPI, Remigio 1926 - 2006 "In the arms of Jesus lay your sweet head now...take your rest, for what better comforting place is his heart, your pillow truly blessed..." With deep sorrow we announce the passing of Remigio Volpi on Friday, January 13, 2006 at the age of 79. He was predeceased by the love of his life, Anella Volpi (Ficaccio) in 1989. They created a loving and welcoming home, sharing many happy times with family and friends. Travelling back home to Italy several times and abroad, experiencing the joys of life throughout their thirty-four years of marriage. Remigio will be lovingly remembered by his daughter Carla (Sante) Giorgi; his three grandchildren, Christian and Richard Giorgi and Chantel (Edgar) Gutierrez; two great-granddaughters, AnaSofia and Carolina Gutierrez. He is survived by his five sisters and three brothers, Irene Riti, Franca Stella and Angela (Aldo) Massetti of Italy, Annetta Volponi and Maria (Angelo) Pozzi of Calgary; Antonio (Maria Angela) Volpi, Fausto "Joe" (Iris) Volpi and Allessandro (Myrtle) Volpi of Calgary, including numerous nieces and nephews. Remigio immigrated to Canada in 1951 making his way westward from Halifax, eventually settling in Calgary in 1954. He spent many years in the furniture business, beginning as a delivery driver for Capitol Furniture, and then moving into a sales position for Steinberg's Furniture, which he saw flourish till his retirement in 1989. He was a founding member of the Calgary Italian Club, keeping the Italian heritage and culture alive for the Italian community here in the city. He particularly enjoyed his active role each year with The CIC Sportsman's Dinner. His pioneering spirit and integrity helped shape our city and he enriched the lives of many. Alma Cormier DORCHESTER CAPE, NB - The death of Alma Cormier, age 93, widow of Alyre Cormier, formerly of Dorchester Cape occurred at the Drew Nursing Home on Sunday, January 15, 2006. Born in Pre d'en Haut, she was a daughter of the late Melas and Emilie (Gautreau) Richard. She was devoted to her family, and attended the Faith Assembly Church in Moncton. She will be sadly missed by four sons, Allan (Frances) and Francis (Evelyn) both of Dorchester, Norman (Frances) of Hamilton, ON, and Raymond (Wenda) of Amherst; 27 grandchildren and 34 great grandchildren; one sister, Lorida Belliveau of Memramcook; daughter-in-law, Edmée and son-in-law, George Fillmore. She was predeceased by her husband, Alyre; two sons, Edgar and Ralph; a daughter, Roma; granddaughter, Serena; and siblings. George Puddington SACKVILLE, NB - The death of George E. Puddington, age 98 of Sackville, occurred at the Drew Nursing Home. Born in Halifax, NS, he was the son of the late Edmund and Lillian (Street) Puddington. George, a survivor of the Halifax Explosion, was a former Manager of the Royal Bank of Canada and was a charter member of the Mulgrave Lion's Club, a former member of the Tantramar Twirlers, the NB-NS Border Rounders, and the Sackville Golf and Country Club. He was a member of the Sackville United Church. He was predeceased by his wife, the former Isabella Currie. LOBB, H. MARJORIE - With great sadness, the family of Helen Marjorie Lobb of Baxter's Corner, formerly of Saint John, announces her death, which occurred on Friday, January 13, 2006 at St Joseph's Hospital, after a brave and courageous battle with cancer. Born in Saint John on April 25, 1922. She was a daughter of the late Herbert and Alice (Philp) Lobb. Marjorie was employed with G. E. Barbour Co. Limited for many years as a supervisor. Marj enjoyed watching hockey and figure skating, but her greatest love was baking and knitting for her beloved family. Marj always had a pot of tea, a tin of homemade cookies and a welcoming smile for her family and friends when they came to visit. The birth of a new family member would find Marj busily knitting special blankets, sweaters and Christmas stockings for those she loved. These were special gifts that will always be treasured by her family. She is survived by one brother, John (Helga) Lobb of Hampton, NB,: by nephew Robert (Carol) Hatfield of Quispamsis, NB,: nieces, Marjorie (Darrell) Nagle of Penobsquis, NB; Cindy L. CWO Robert Hewlett Parker January 04, 1929 - January 15, 2006 Funeral arrangements by Atlantic Funeral Home (Lower Sackville) PARKER, Robert Hewlett, CWO - 77, Halifax, passed away January 15, 2006, in the QEII Health Sciences Centre. Born in Toronto, Ont., he was a son of the late Richard and Gertrude (Fletcher) Parker. He started his career with the R.C.M.P. at the age of 18. When he turned 20 he joined the Provost Corps in the Canadian Armed Forces. For 30 years Bob faithfully served his country in various postings at home and overseas, including the Korean Conflict, as well as peacekeeping tours in Germany and Egypt. Upon his retirement from the military, he joined the Corps of Commissionaires and rose to the rank of Captain, Training Officer. He was an avid reader, beekeeper and brother in the Masonic Lodge No. 125. Surviving are his wife of 57 years, the former Edna J. Davis; daughters, Stephanie Paddock, Halifax; Roberta Jones, Dartmouth; Melanie Verboom, Halifax; son, Richard, Pembroke, Ont.; brother, Harold, Moncton; sister, Constance Backland, British Columbia; grandchildren, Max, Robert, Bernie, Ricky, Samantha, Sarah-Jean, Connor, Parker; great-grandchildren, Kyle, Katie, Jackson, Andrew, Francis. He was predeceased by brothers, Dick, Gordon, Art, Fred, Bill. Doris Hilda Johnson August 30, 1911 - January 13, 2006 It is with deep sadness that we announce the passing of our beloved Mum on Friday, January 13, 2006. Predeceased by her husband Peter in October 2005; she will be lovingly remembered and missed by her children Alf and Gerry, Doedy and Henry, Doreen and Jim, Ron and Joan, Carol and Gord; 16 grandchildren; 24 1/2 great grandchildren; four great great grandchildren as well as two brothers Art and Dick Askew. Mum was born August 30, 1911 in Teulon, Manitoba and went to school at Fish Lake where her parents farmed. Mum was the fourth child of 12. The family left Fish Lake in 1925 and moved to Winnipeg. Mum completed her schooling in the West St. Paul area and then started to work with the Hudson Bay Company. In 1930 she met Dad, Peter Johnson, and they were married and moved out to a farm at Lily Bay, West of Lundar. In 1935 they moved back to Winnipeg and in 1937 they moved to a small farm North of Selkirk on the government plan, Back to the Land. From there they moved West of Inwood and then to a larger farm at Sandridge. In 1949 they sold the farm and moved to Ainslie Street, in Winnipeg. Mum was a quiet, gracious lady who loved her family unconditionally. She was an excellent cook and worked as such at Kiwanis Courts and Sears Restaurant. She loved to do puzzle books, garden, pick wild flowers and berries on the long walks she would take. Mum loved to knit and everyone probably has a pair of her warmest mitts and slippers. We would like to thank the staff at the Charleswood Care Centre for their caring and compassion. Funeral service will be held at the Sturgeon Creek United Church, 207 Thompson Drive on Thursday, January 19 at 11:00 a.m. Reverend Bill Corkum will officiate with interment to follow at Sandridge Cemetery. She was the dear sister of Ellen Black (Brian) of Pembroke, Edith Pacey (the late Almer) of Barrie, the late Clarence "Bud" Cook (Bertha) of Matheson, George Cook (Beth) of Rutherglen, Clara James (the late Ed) of Callander, Elmer Cook of Matheson, Ed Cook (Vivian) of New Liskeard, Doug Cook (Mary) and Fred Cook (Florence) all of Matheson. OBITUARY Dr. ROSS OGILVIE HILL Ross passed away peacefully after a brief illness at the age of eighty-two on Sunday, January 15, 2006 in Ottawa. He is survived by his loving wife of fifty-five years, Tess, daughter Patricia (Taylor Gray) their children Kathryn and Jessica, son Bruce (Marie Dunlop) their children John Ross and Lindsay and son John and his children Ryan, Jennifer and Christine. He will be greatly missed by his brothers Leslie (Sally) and David (Sandra) and their respective families. Ross graduated in Medicine from McGill University in 1948 and specialized in radiology. He began his career in Halet, Quebec, served at a number of hospitals including Huntington County and retired from the Montreal General Hospital in 1994. JACKSON; Doris Geraldine It is with deep and profound sadness that the family of Doris Geraldine Jackson announces her unexpected passing on Saturday, January 14, 2006.
