BRANDSON, Ralph William It is with deep and profound sadness that we announce the tragic death of Ralph Brandson on January 3, 2006. He was a dedicated member of the I.B.E.W. Union, Local 424 since 1968. Ralph leaves his loving family, wife Louise; children, Laura and Trent; granddaughter Rhiann; his loving parents, Elizabeth and the late Charles Brandson; sister and brother-in-law, Muriel and Bob; brothers and sisters-in-law, Beverley and Myrna, Bruce and Margaret, Milton and Maureen; and all his special nieces and nephews as well as many other relatives, friends and his extended I.B.E.W. union family. Ralph was a kind, gentle and generous person who made the lives of many people brighter. We will all miss his wonderful smile, the sound of his laughter and his kind and gentle presence. LEITCH, Alexander John February 6, 1923 - January 7, 2006 Sadly we announce the passing of Alexander John Leitch, at Tecumseh House, at the Colonel Belcher Veteran's Care Centre, at the age of 82 years. The family is grateful to the Belcher staff for their kindness and gentle care. Alex is survived by his sister Catherine (Bill) Evans; brother Angus (Theresa) Leitch; sisters-in-law, Fay Leitch and Jessie Cox; and by numerous nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by his wife Mickey, his parents, John and Catherine Leitch and brother Bill. Alex was an auto body mechanic and later ran his own printing shop. He took pride in the quality of his work. Alex loved the outdoors, golfing, fishing, bird hunting or just dirt biking. ROHL, Marie (Mary) 1913 - 2006 Marie (Mary) Rohl (nee Kraft) of Calgary, Alberta passed away at Newport Harbour Care Centre, on January 6, 2006 at the age of 92 years. She was born in Calgary, raised in Hanna/Carstairs area. She also lived in the Peace River District, B.C., New Brunswick and spent her later years in Calgary. She was predeceased by her husband, Henry Rohl in 1997, and is remembered by three sons, Ken (Helen), Douglas and Bruce; seven grandchildren, eleven great-grandchildren and one great-great-grandchild; as well as a brother Lawrence (Joan) Kraft; a brother-in-law William (Ollie) Rohl; two sisters-in-law, Florence Rohl and Rose Rohl. SCHAEFER, Dennis George January 2, 1948 - January 5, 2006 The Mayor of "Schaeferville" has left his office. Dennis Schaefer of St. Albert was born in Broadview, SK, and grew up in Chilliwack, BC. He enjoyed a thirty-five year career with the RCMP in Alberta, retiring in 2003. Dennis thought himself an ordinary man yet he lived an extraordinary life. He always knew who he was whether working in operational policing or walking with presidents and kings. Dennis' indomitable spirit and good humour won him many friends and admirers. He was gracious without surrender. Dennis is survived by his wife Barbara; son Paul and daughter-in-law Jenifer; daughter Gillian and son-in-law Lucas Percy; mother Anne Schaefer and brother Wayne and family; and numerous in-laws, out-laws, friends and associates. SINCLAIR, Leila On January 2, 2006, Leila Marjorie Sinclair of Edmonton passed away at the age of 87 years. Leila passed away peacefully and is now in the loving arms of her beloved husband, Jack. She is survived by two daughters, Nikko Sinclaire of Calgary and Wendy (Charles) McIndoo of Edmonton; and her grandsons, John Turnbull of Edmonton and James and Robert Sinclair of Calgary. Leila will be missed for her quick wit and dry sense of humour. Cremation has taken place in the Park Memorial Crematorium with Inurnment in Evergreen Memorial Gardens. Jean Gagnon est décédé le 6 janvier 2006. Né à Québec, en 1921, fils de feu Alphondor Gagnon et de feu Marie Magnan, il était marié à feu Jeanine Létourneau. Il laisse dans le deuil ses tantes Magnan: Aline, religieuse d’Immaculée Conception, Bernadette (feu Gérard Lemieux) et Gabrielle (Pierre Hamel) ainsi que de nombreux cousins, cousines, neveux et nièces. Il laisse également dans le deuil sa belle-soeur Odile Létourneau (Gilles Desnoyers), Isabelle Lemieux (Jean-Pierre Lefebvre) et François Magnan (Madeleine Bernier) qui l’ont accompagné aux cours des dernières années. Libraire réputé est spécialiste du livre ancien, il a tenu son commerce à divers endroits à Québec. On se souvient peut-être de «Le Bouquiniste» au 28, rue des Jardins, dans le Vieux-Québec. Sa compagne Jeanine Létourneau l’a constamment soutenu en s’occupant conjointement de la librairie et en tenant la comptabilité du commerce. HELE, Stephen Lee Paul 1958 - 2006 Stephen Hele passed away peacefully in Calgary on Wednesday, January 4, 2006 at the age of 47 years. Stephen is lovingly remembered by his mother, Shirlee Hele of Oshawa, ON (predeceased by his father Thomas in 1997); dear brother to Jonathan and wife Lauren of Markham, ON, Theresa and husband Dale of Quebec, Nathan and wife Deborah of Orillia, ON, Orcean and Maryanne of Oshawa, ON. He is mourned by his much loved Cristl Porter and his "family of friends" in Calgary that helped to care for him during his battle with cancer over the past several months. CHARLES WESLEY HUGHSON Of Perth Road, Ontario, passed away at Kingston General Hospital on Wednesday, December 14, 2005. Charlie was born January 16,1915 in Opinicon, the fourth child of the late Melvin and Irene (Smith) Hughson and stepson of Annastacia (Young) Hughson. He lived his entire life in the Opinicon and Perth Road Area. He is survived by and will be sadly missed by his wife Marion (Azulay), daughter Bette, son- in-law Robert Butterill, son Kenneth, grandchildren Jody, Mathew, Amanda, Vincent, Jenna and Samuel, great grandchildren Kourtney, Madelynne, Cameron, Hailey, Braedon and Breanna, sister Mary and brother Wilfred. He was predeceased by sisters Thelma, Opal, Winnifred, Bernice, and Marjorie, and brothers Seth, George, Edward and Russell. Charlie owned one of the two general stores in Perth Road Village (the one with the Post Office) from 1949 to 1973 and as well, operated a passenger bus service and mail route between Perth Road Village and Kingston for many years. He delivered mail on Rural Route 1, Perth Road, and in 1973 when the store was sold, he and Marion moved the Post Office across the street to a house which they constructed on property repurchased by them on which he had built a service station years earlier. He was a snowplow operator, keeping several Township roads and many lanes clear for several years. He was a school bus operator and owned the first school bus, a converted cattle truck, to operate from Perth Road Village to Sydenham High School. The garage which he built for the buses is now the Fire Station in the Village of Perth Road. He and Marion eventually retired to their home on Upper Rock Lake where he remained until his passing, enjoying the view and monitoring the traffic on the Opinicon Road. His family would like to thank the ParaMed nurses who came to the house to help him, the doctors and nurses at Kingston General Hospital who attended him, all who gave flowers and donations, Reverend Allman for the service which was held December 16, 2005, at the Lindsay Funeral Home and the Perth Road Hall for the delicious lunch after the service. Susan June Jackson (Knapp) Of Elgin, Ontario, passed away at St. Vincent de Paul Hospital after a courageous battle with cancer, on November 29, 2005. She was 51. Susan was born in Brockville, Ontario, the daughter of the late David and June Knapp. She grew up in Newboro and Elgin and later lived in the Belleville, Brockville and Kingston areas. Susan was employed in Retail Sales until the mid 1980's and was Office Administrator at North Kingston Community Council until the mid 1990's. She helped with the fundraising efforts for the North Kingston Community Council and for the Boys & Girls Club of Greater Kingston. She attended Elgin United Church. Susan enjoyed sewing, quilting, crocheting, knitting, houseplants, fishing, and spending time with family. Susan is survived and deeply missed by her daughter Rebecca (Chad) Keates, her grandchildren Hannah, Noah and Liam Keates who were the lights of her life, her sister Jane (Murray) Thompson, her brothers Jim (Janet Baldwin) Knapp and Peter (Marian) Knapp, 10 nieces and nephews, 11 great nieces and nephews and special friends Lana Butler, Sherry Major and Jake Orr. The funeral was held on December 1, 2005 at the Scotland Funeral Home in Elgin. Rev. Rodney Smith- Merkley officiated, with words of comfort and prayer by Rev. Harry Seeley. Pallbearers were Chad Keates, Jim Knapp, Peter Knapp, Murray Thompson, Steven Halladay and Neil Kudrenko. Interment Halladay Cemetery, Elgin.
