CHARTIER, WILFRED "Bill" G. Cdr. USN (Retired) August 21, 1919 to October 15, 2005 Wilfred "Bill" G. Chartier, Cdr. USN (Ret), 86, died Saturday, October 15, 2005 in his Santa Barbara home in Maravilla, sitting in his favorite recliner with his hands folded in his lap and his head slightly tilted. He had hopefully gotten through the Notre Dame football game he was watching. On Sunday, he was being picked up by his daughter, Antoinette, to come live with her family until his sciatica episode subsided but the Lord took him first. He was born in Manistique, Michigan, August 21, 1919 to W.J. and Leda (La Chappelle) Chartier. He lost his mother when he was very young. Bill went to Marquette University where he played varsity basketball. He met Elayne Kaap, his future wife in the 8th grade in Green Bay Wisconsin where they both grew up. Bill was a Knight Grand Cross of the Knights and Ladies of the Holy Sepulchre of Jerusalem, a group that Practices the virtue of Charity, supporting and prayerfully aiding the Church and the preservation of the Catholic religion in the Holy Land! Until he moved to Santa Barbara in February of this year, to be near his daughter, he was active in the Serra Club (2 time Past President), Knights and Ladies of the Holy Sepulchre, played tennis with passion until he was 84 ½ years old, and was a big supporter of Vocations for Priests. He was a member of St. Therese Parish for over 30 years. He is survived by his devoted and beloved children, Randy Chartier, his wife Mary, Antoinette Chartier, her husband Brian Nash and grandchildren, Richard Chartier and Francesca Nash. His brother also survives him, Melvin Chartier of Las Vegas, Nevada. Bill was married (59 years!) to his beloved and cherished Elayne Rita Kaap on October 17th, 1941. He was preceded in death by Elayne on December 30, 2000. His brothers, Russell Chartier and Clarence Chartier, with whom he was close, also preceded him in death. His 32-year distinguished Naval Career included serving on (8) ships and (6) shore stations, including the Pentagon, Italy, Philippines, San Diego, Norfolk, Guam, Saudi Arabia, Japan, and Cuba. This included (3) command tours and (4) assignments as Executive Officer. He was a proud WWII Veteran where he served on LSM(R) Rocket Ships. He earned his Bronze Star for a battle on May 11, 1945 in the Pacific. He earned a Bronze Star and a Silver Star in WWII and numerous medals and commendations throughout his career. Following Navy retirement in 1970, he spent (5) years in the Social Service field in San Diego and then (8) years as an administrator for the Federal Disaster Assistance Administration (now entitled FEMA). "Daddy/Bill...we will we will always love you and miss you. The light will embrace you without doubt...our example in life, in all aspects, was an inspiration to all. You were always such a good and pure manand a kind loving father and husband...you were the absolute awesome 'real man' who always modeled his beliefs." His presence will be missed every day and his impact on his family and friends is immeasurable. "Goodbye my sweet Prince...for you truly were a Prince amongst men." In lieu of flowers, the family suggest donations be given, in his name, to St. Therese Parish in San Diego or Our Lady of Mt. Carmel Church in Montecito, California. Ayerst, Melville Francis Horton Peacefully at Ridgeview Nursing Home in Stoney Creek on Wednesday October 19, 2005 in his 95th year. Beloved husband of the late Annie Ayerst (nee Third - 1981). Loving father of Beverly (Gord) Gilbert, Janet Turner, Joan Miller, and John (Judy) Ayerst. Kathleen "Kae" Jane O'Brien (née Allen) Funeral arrangements by Regina Funeral Home O’BRIEN, Kathleen Jane (Allen) – Kae passed away peacefully on October 20, 2005 at Pioneer Village in Regina, SK. She was predeceased by her husband, Gerald (February 2005); her infant daughter (Maureen); her parents John and Mary Allen; her sister Patricia Hendrickson; her brothers Paul and John Jr. Allen. Kae is survived by three daughters Colleen (Don) Haider; Patricia (Gilles-deceased) Bechard and Margaret (John) Lund; six grandchildren: Quinn (Lana) Haider, Holly (Aaron) Huston, Che Bechard, Kelly Bechard, Sean Lund and Keely Lund; great granddaughter Alexa Haider; one brother Reilly Allen. Kae was born in Minneapolis, Minnesota, moved to Winnipeg, Manitoba where she met and married Gerald in 1949. Kae and Gerald farmed at Riceton for 51 years. Her husband, her children and her friends were the most important things in her life. Kae had a fabulous zest for life. Kae was a joy to all who knew her. Reading, playing cards and dancing brought her great pleasure. Kae continued as an active participant in the Riceton community until entering Pioneer Village in 1995 with Alzheimer disease. The family of Kae wishes to extend a grateful thank you to the staff of Pioneer Village in Regina, who took such wonderful care of Kae. Jack Robichaud, 55, died Saturday, October 8th in Bellingham, WA surrounded by family. Jack formerly lived in Whitefish Bay and Shorewood before moving to Delafield. After attending UW-Eau Claire, Jack lived and worked in Germany, Nigeria and Italy. He is survived by his wife Christine and their son Anthony, 13, of Assisi, Italy; sister Anne (Pino Algna) and her children in Assisi; brothers Doug (Kathy) of Mazomanie and Tom in Madison, brother Jim in Pewaukee and brother Bill and his daughter in Vientiane, Laos. SWANT, Agnes Dorothy - Passed away at the North Bay General Hospital-Scollard Site, on Wednesday, October 19, 2005. Agnes was the beloved wife of the late Herbert Reginald Swant, she was 94 years old. She was the loving mother of Floyd Swant (wife Iris) of Sault Ste. Marie, Shirley MacHale (husband Rod) of Elliott Lake and Barbara Franklin (husband Bob) of Redbridge. Predeceased by her sons Reg and Cliff. Dearly remembered by her daughters-in-law, Marilyn and Muriel. Lovingly remembered by her grandchildren, Doug, Debbie, Stephen, Wendy, Don, Sherri, Greg, Vicki, Charlene, Laurie and by her many great-grandchildren. SIMON, James Elias - Born August 10, 1919, died peacefully on Thursday, October 20, 2005 at North Bay. Jim was born in Akron, Ohio, but had resided in the North Bay area since 1976. He is survived by his wife Vivian of North Bay, and by his sons, daughters, grandchildren and great-granddaughter, of Ohio and Virginia. Jim was a life member of the Masonic Blue Lodge #561, North Baltimore, Ohio and the Scottish Rights, Valley of Toledo, Ohio. He was the founder and original owner of Lakes Mold and Machine Company of Akron, Ohio. James was a decorated veteran of the United States Navy, serving on the carrier, USS Belleau Wood in the South Pacific during World War II. A service will be held at the time of inurnment at the Arlington National Cemetery, in Washington, DC

PERKINS-GAGNON, , Geraldine Lawrence -- Passed away Wednesday, October 19, 2005 at Bronson Methodist Hospital, Kalamazoo. Geraldine was born, November 14, 1923 in Bloomington, IN, the daughter of Charles and Sara (May) Young. Geraldine retired as a secretary for the Van Buren County Child Protective Services; she was a member of the East Arlington Baptist Church. She was united in marriage to Armand Gagnon in Lawrence, who preceded her in death in 1997. Surviving are 3 daughters, Susie (Leon) Perkins-Reeder of Sand Springs, OK, Lori Perkins of Mattawan, Kristy (John) Perkins-Milchick of Boston, KY; 1 son, Gary Perkins of Canyon Country, CA; 6 grandchildren, Troy, Heidi, Shayla, Katrina, Ryan, Chelsea; 2 great-grandsons, Aidan and Camden; 1 sister, Avice Rodda of Villa Park, IL. DRACUT -- Noela M. (Houle) Dumond, 99, a lifelong Dracut resident who was active in the community, died yesterday, Oct. 20, at her home. She was the wife of the late Rene Dumond who died in 1990.She was born in Dracut, Jan. 10, 1906, daughter of the late Zoel and Pamela (Dessureault) Houle. She was raised in Dracut, and graduated from St. Louis Academy in Lowell.Before retiring, Mrs. Dumond worked at Solomon Mental Health Center in Lowell. Previously, she worked for the commonwealth of Massachusetts, at the Tewksbury State Hospital in the medical records department.She was a communicant of St. Francis Church, in Dracut.She was a member of the League of Catholic Women, St. Louis Ladies Sodality, Dracut Senior Citizens, Dracut Historical Society, Poor Clare Guild, National Council of Senior Citizens, the Union St. Jean Baptiste, and AARP.She was also a member of the St. Louis Academy Alumnae, and had established many scholarships for St. Louis Schools.At the time of her death, she was the oldest living Dracut-born resident of the town, according to family members.She is survived by a sister, Bernadette Matte of Lowell; several nieces and nephews, including Jeanne McGlinchey who cared for her in her later years at home until her death. She was also the sister of the late Blanche Vigeant of Dracut, Lucille Webster, residing in Connecticut, Rita Gorman of Dracut, Gertrude Bouffard of Pelham, Raymond Houle of Jacksonville, Fla., Louis Houle of Lowell, Leo Houle, Dr. Emile Houle, and Gilbert Houle, all of Dracut. Laura Borne Breaux, 102, of Port Arthur passed away, Tuesday October 18, 2005 at the Senior Rehabilitation Center in Port Arthur. A Mass of Christian Burial will be 1:00 P.M. Saturday, October 22, 2005 at St. Charles Borromeo Catholic Church in Nederland with Rev. Dan Malain officiating. Interment will follow in Calvary Cemetery in Port Arthur under the direction of Broussard's in Nederland. A gathering of family and friends will be from 5 to 8 P.M. Friday evening with a scriptural rosary to be recited at 6:00 P.M. at the mortuary. Mrs. Breaux was a native of Rayne, Louisiana and lived most of her life in Port Arthur. HOLYOKE - Delia B. (Guilbault) Collins, 94, died Wednesday October 19 at the Holyoke Health Care Center. Born in Holyoke on July 28, 1911, Mrs. Collins was the daughter of the late Joseph Guilbault and Odelie (Aube). She attended the former Our Lady of Perpetual Help School and was a lifelong parishoner of their parish, where she was a member of the Ladies Guild. Delia worked as a hatmaker at the former Winfield Hats in Holyoke. She was the wife of the late Andrew J. Collins. Mrs. Collins will be sadly missed by her daughter Lucille M. Collins and her partner Julie LaFreniere of Petersham MA; a daughter-in-law Jo-Ann Grandchamp of Boston; a grandaughter Geralyn Hughes and a great grandaughter Charlotte Hughes both of Quincy, MA; and several nieces and nephews. She was pre-deceased by her son William A. Collins in 1995 and several brothers and sisters. He is survived by his wife of 40 years, Alice (Caron) Gendreau of Lille; two sons, Percy Jr. and his wife, Tonya, of Lima, Ohio, Gary of Van Buren; two very special granddaughters, "Madison a Percy" and "Skylah a Gary"; Tonya's two children, Cassie and Justine Rapp; five sisters, Rhea Gendreau of Limestone, Gladys Laplante of Bangor, Germaine St. Amand and Alphena Latham, both of Van Buren, Mary Ann Chasse of Hamlin. FITCHBURG -- J. Maurice Fournier, 103, longtime resident of Walnut Street, Fitchburg, died Wednesday afternoon, Oct. 19, in St. Theresa’s Manor, Manchester, N.H., after a brief illness.He was born on March 20, 1902, in Gardner, the son of Arthur M. and Marie-Anne (Bonin) Fournier and was raised in Ste. Anne-de-Beaupre, Quebec, Canada. He was home schooled by his mother and then attended St. Joseph College in 1915 and graduated from there in 1918. He and his family then moved to Manchester, N.H. in 1918. After a few years in Manchester, he then moved to Leominster, where he became an insurance agent for Metropolitan Life and the Sentury Insurance Co. He was an insurance agent for over 40 years, retiring in 1967.As a young boy he witness seeing the first of many things, such as the automobile and the first flight of an airplane at Kitty Hawk and also remembered the sinking of the Titanic. In his day, the Christmas trees were lit with candles and telephones were not yet discovered. His favorite saying was “I’ve lived the better days.”Mr. Fournier is survived by two daughters, Charlotte P. and her husband Edward Jr. Fahey of Bedford, N.H. and Diane S. and her husband Paul E. Courtemanche of Rindge, N.H.; five grandchildren, Edward Fahey III of York Beach, Maine, Michelle Fortin and Todd Fahey, both of Bow, N.H., Tracey Thibaudeau of Lunenburg, and Craig Fahey of Bedford, N.H.; eight great-grandchildren; nephews and nieces. His wife of 59 years, Anita (Babineau) Fournier, died in 1991. He was also predeceased by four sisters, Gertrude McInerney and Mercedes Cournoyer, both of Leominster, Sister Anne Felix and Sister Bernadette of the Daughters of the Holy Spirit, and one brother, Roland Fournier of Fitchburg.FOURNIER -- On Oct. 19, J. Chaput 78, of 291 Bingham Rd., died Wednesday morning at UMass Medical Center, Worcester, Mass.She was born February 8, 1927 in Woonsocket, Rhode Island a daughter of the late Joseph L. and Laura (LaCrosse) Belisle. Mrs. Chaput had lived in Plainfield for many years moving to Canterbury in 1994 to make her home with her son Joseph. She had been employed by the former Pervel Industries for 27 years and retired upon the plant's closing.Mrs. Chaput was a member of the Central Village Fire Dept. Ladies Auxiliary and was a Communicant of All Hallows Church.She was the wife of Wilfred J. Chaput who died December 17, 1986.Survivors include two sons, Joseph W. Chaput of Canterbury and Wilfred L. Chaput of Sebring, Fla.; three daughters and sons in law, Bertha and Donald Deitch of Michigan, Carol and Bob Morris of Statesboro, Ga. and Betty and Steven Beaudreau of Brooklyn. 11 grandchildren: Stacy L.
