Betty Carriveau Sherman passed away on Oct. 10, 2005, at Grancare Nursing Home in Fond du Lac, Wis.She was born on June 7, 1908, in Oconto Falls, to the late Joseph and Mathilde Carriveau. She spent most of her long and rewarding life in Oconto County, where she was born.At age 17, she began her teaching career in a small one-room country school in the northwoods of Upper Michigan. She then returned to Oconto County and continued to teach in rural schools. Betty later attended Milwaukee State Teachers College, where she earned a Bachelor of Science degree in upper elementary education. Twenty-four of her 38 years as an educator were spent teaching fourth grade in the Oconto Unified School System. Betty was an active member of many organizations for teachers, as well as those interested in history and writing.After her retirement from teaching in 1973, Betty turned to “reminiscent” writing. Many of her short stories and historical items were published. In 1981, Betty authored a book titled, Stories Papa Told, a collection of folk and fairy tales, which had been handed down in the Carriveau family since the 1600’s.The family tradition of storytelling was one of Betty’s favorite hobbies. An estimated 8,000 young people enjoyed her fascinating tales of enchantment, as well as talks on the history of Wisconsin.Her daughter, Constance Belongia of Milwaukee, and one daughter-in-law, Ardis Sherman of Fond du Lac, survive Betty. Her five grandchildren, Deborah (Phillip) Ferris, Michele (Robert) Buehler, Camille (John) Leisten, Kevin Sherman and James Dana Belongia, also feel the loss of their loving grandmother “Ziz.” She will be greatly missed by her great-grandchildren, David and Nicole Buehler and Marisa and Alaina Leisten. She is also survived by two sisters, Gene Carriveau and Irma Blazer.Preceding her in death were her parents; her precious son, Ronald Sherman; two sisters, Violette Larson and Dorothy Ardts; and two brothers, George Carriveau and Raymond Carriveau.

GLENMONT, NY -- Jean L. Dupuis, Sr., 60, died suddenly Monday, October 10, 2005 at St. Peter's Hospital. Born in Rumford, Maine, he was the son of George Dupuis of Albany and the late Claire Lessard Dupuis. Mr. Dupuis was employed for 25 years as a machine mechanic with the United States Postal Service in Albany. He was a Navy veteran having served aboard the USS Severn. Mr. Dupuis was very active in the Boy Scouts of America and enjoyed camping at the Rotary Scout Reservation in Poestenkill. He served in many capacities in the Boy Scouts including Assistant District Commissioner for the Fort Orange District. He loved spending time with family and friends. Husband of Susan A. Mastaitis Dupuis; father of Jean Dupuis, Jr. (Cindilee) of Wasilla, Ala., Mark Dupuis (Kathryn) of Guilderland, Beth Dupuis (Ryan Morrell) of Saratoga Springs, Daryl Dupuis (Gina) of Brunswick, Seth Dupuis of Queens and Joe Dupuis of Glenmont; brother of Guy Dupuis (Ann) of Glenmont and Liliane Paeglow (Robert) of Albany; son-in-law of Alice Mastaitis of Saratoga and the late Stephen Mastaitis; grandfather of Danielle, Michael, Jessica, Jeremy, Logan, Ava and Guerin Dupuis, Justin, Abigail and Alexander Morrell; also survived by several nieces, nephews, cousins, aunts and uncles. Elle laisse aussi de nombreux collègues et ami(e)s suite à sa vie professionnelle et son engagement communautaire bénévole. MAMMOLETTI, Mildred 1927 - 2005 Unexpectedly on Sunday, October 2, 2005 in her 79th year at Ottawa's Q.C.H. Hospital. As strong as Mom was, she could not defeat the deadly C - difficile bacteria bug. Born Miroslawa (Millie) Onucki on January 27, 1927 in Ukraine, Mom came to Canada in 1938 at age 11 with her Mother, Helenie to settle in Timmins, Ontario. She married George Mammoletti in 1943 and produced two sons, Gary (1944) and Rick (1945) both now living in Ottawa. Most of her working life was at the CIBC Bank (Timmins) and Bank of Nova Scotia in Toronto. Upon retirement in 1989, she moved to Ottawa to be with her family. Mom is survived by her sons Gary (Cindy) and Rick Sr. (Ginny). Dear Nana of Mandy, Amber (Richard Tremblay), Ricky Jr., Leah (Luc Thivierge) and Shannon. Great-grandmother of Taylor, Dylan and Jacob. Not only was Millie very generous, she was undoubtedly one of the world's best cooks (especially Ukrainian and Italian dishes). Her fabulous meals were enjoyed by her many friends spread across Ontario but especially by her very great best friend Edward Carlos Duett (Viveen) of Mississauga, who always took care of Mom in Toronto. Mom has been cremated and will eventually be laid to rest with her mother in Timmins next summer, where her long journey through life will finally end. BOUILLON, Walter Selwyn. Of Walkerton, passed away at Brudelea Haven, Walkerton, on Monday, October 10, 2005 in his onehundredth and second year. Loving father of Diane and her husband Paul Manion of Brockville and Katharine and her husband Jim McIntyre of Walkerton and father-in-law of Dave Langlois of Montreal. Cherished grandfather of James, Wade (Paulette) and Debbie Langlois, Ryan, Peter and Michael McIntyre and great-grandfather of Tyler, Kylee and Shaylee Langlois. Walter was predeceased by his wife Jean and daughter Joan Langlois. A memorial service will be held on Friday, October 14, 2005 at 3 p.m. at St. Thomas Anglican Church, Walkerton. SCHOLES, Mollie (nee Miller). Passed away peacefully at her home in St-Bruno in her ninetieth year on October 10, 2005. Her strength and courage remained with her until the end. Beloved wife of the late George W. Scholes and loving mother of Sandra and Bob Lapointe of St-Bruno, Quebec, Ron and Heather Scholes of Edmonton, Alberta and Donna and Raymond Roberge of Biddeford Maine. Dearly loved by her six grandchildren: Karon and Robbie, Brandie and Christopher, Jason and Jeremie. Mollie also leaves her surviving sister Ruth and her late brother Charlie and all her late younger sisters Jane, Harriet and Joan and will be missed by her many loving nieces and nephews. William I. Bechard II, 52, died unexpectedly Aug. 27, 2005 at his home in Waterbury. Born in New Britain, Bill lived many years in Mountain Lakes, N.J., before his family moved to Ridgefield in 1969.An avid fisherman and antique gun collector, Bill graduated from Ridgefield High School in 1971 and attended Post Junior College, Northeastern University and Western Connecticut State University, from which he earned a B.A. in business.His brother Brad of West Redding and sister Michelle Bechard of Kensington, Md., survive him, as does his good friend, Steve White of Brookfield.His father William Bechard of Stamford and mother Helen Bechard of Danbury, predeceased Bill.Interment is private. ALLENSTOWN — Philip B. Belanger, 30, of 196 Granite Street, Allenstown and formerly of Berlin, was killed in a motorcycle accident in Deerfield on Thursday, Oct. 6, 2005. He was born in Manchester on October 26, 1974, the son of Daniel and Carmen (Gagnon) Belanger and has lived most of his life in Berlin. He was a graduate of Berlin High School with the class of 1993. While living in Berlin he was employed by the Isaacson Structural Steel Company. He was later employed by the American Steel Company. His last employment was as a steel worker through Local 7, Iron Workers in Boston, Mass.Members of his family include his daughter, Meghan Belanger of Manchester; his fiancee, Shannon Brooks of Allenstown; his father, Daniel Belanger and stepmother Doris Belanger of Berlin; his mother, Carmen (Gagnon) Turgeon and stepfather George Turgeon of West Milan; a brother, Michael Belanger of Berlin; paternal grandfather, Roland Belanger of Berlin; aunts, uncles and cousins.Funeral services were held on Monday, Oct. 10 in the Chapel of the Bryant Funeral Home in Berlin. SPRINGFIELD - Bertha C. (Grochmal) Langevin Ezyk, 92, of Springfield, passed away on Monday, October 10, 2005 at home. Born in Indian Orchard and a Springfield resident for many years, she also resided in Ludlow and Chicopee. Bertha was a graduate of Springfield's High School of Commerce. She was a (20) year administrative assistant for Dr. Field Leonard of Springfield, retiring in 1978. She also was employed by the former Westinghouse Corp. of Springfield, and was a crossing guard for the Chicopee School Department for several years. Bertha was a communicant of St. John the Baptist Church of Ludlow. She is survived by a niece, Claire E. Germain of Ludlow, as well as many other nieces, nephews, grand nieces and nephews, and great-grand nieces and nephews. Bertha was predeceased by her first husband, Louis Langevin in 1970, and by her second husband, Joseph Ezyk in 1975. A Memorial Mass will be held on Friday morning in St. John the Baptist Church, 181 Hubbard St., Ludlow at 7:30 a.m. Burial will be private and at the convenience of the family in St. Aloysius Cemetery, Indian Orchard.
