Marc R. Beland, 39 of Merrimack, died Sunday September 18, 2005 at Holy Family Hospital & Medical Center in Methuen, MA. He was born in Manchester, NH on July 14, 1966 a son of Gerard R. & Yvette (Vachon) Beland of Manchester. Mr. Beland was a self employed painting & wallpaper contractor and was the owner of Marc’s Painting & Wallpapering. He had a great love of nature and was an avid NASCAR enthusiast and snowmobiler. He was a member of both the NH Snowmobile Assoc., and the Pittsburgh Ridgerunners. He loved God & Country and was proud to display the American Flag. Mr. Beland also enjoyed fishing as well as tending his lawn and flower garden. He spent weekends and vacations in Pittsburgh, NH with family and friends. His greatest devotion was to his wife and daughter whom he loved dearly. He was a loving son & brother who will be missed by all who knew him. In addition to his parents, members of his family include his wife, Sharon (Loranger) Beland of Merrimack, a daughter Ashley Loranger, of Merrimack, a brother Gerard P. BERNARD, JOHN R., 73 of Pawtucket Ave., died Sunday. He was the husband of Maria Montanaro Bernard. Born in Fall River, he was the son of the late John T. and Marie (Belmore) Bernard. Mr. Bernard was a self employed contractor for many years. He is survived by four sons, John R. Bernard, Jr., Michael Montanaro, Joseph and Robert Loccisano, three daughters, Kathleen Vidal, Deborah Montanaro, Gina Loccisano, 22 grandchildren, and 14 great grandchildren. CHICOPEE - Mrs. Annabelle D. "Belly" (Boutot) Leclair, 45, died Monday September 19 at the Baystate Medical Center in Springfield surrounded by her loving family. She was born in Holyoke November 12, 1959, a daughter of Gerald and Annmarie (Pinette) Boutot of Bristol, CT. She attended schools in New York and was a former Holyoke resident. In addition to her parents, she also leaves her maternal grandmother, Olivia Pinette of Holyoke. She is survived by her husband of twenty-nine years, Edmond Leclair, one son, Daniel Leclair and his wife Shelly Levesque of CT, two daughters, Christina Leclair and Rachelle Tondryk, both of Holyoke. She also leaves three brothers, Gerald Boutot Jr, David Boutot, and Richard Boutot all of CT, and three sisters, Bernadette Leclair of Chicopee, Dolores Boutot of Holyoke, and Teresa Boutot of Chicopee. She will be sadly missed by five grandchildren and her Godchild Brenda Lee Corales and several nieces and nephews. Funeral services will be held at the Messier Funeral Home, 1944 Northampton St., (Route 5) Holyoke, Thursday September 22 at 10 a.m. Burial will be at the convenience of the family. FRANKLIN, Ky. -- Helen Carrier Lucarelli, 88, a resident of Kentucky, died on Wednesday, Sept. 14, 2005, at the Medical Center at Franklin in Franklin. She was born in Winthrop, Maine, on July 11, 1917, the daughter of Albert and Odile Boutin Carrier. Mrs. Lucarelli was a graduate of Winthrop High School. She started a commercial bakery with her husband in 1946 and operated it with him until their retirement in 1970. Having also lived in Livermore Falls, Maine, and Largo, Fla., she was a member of the Duplicate Bridge Club in Augusta, Maine, and the St. Justan Catholic Church in Largo. She is survived by a son, John Lucarelli of Frankfort; four grandchildren, Gregory Lucarelli, Jill Lake, Beth Ann Lucarelli and Omm Lucarelli; and two great-grandchildren, Christopher and Jonathan Greenwood. She was predeceased by her husband of 60 years, Fegeo Lucarelli; a son, Larry Lucarelli; five sisters and six brothers.A Mass of Christian burial will be announced at a later date. WHITINSVILLE— Gerald A. Castonguay, 59, of 35 Paul Place, died Sun. Sept. 18 after being stricken ill. He is survived by his wife of 39 years Joyce (Gervais) Castonguay; a daughter Kathleen M. Alera of Leominster; a son John D. Castonguay of Whitinsville; 4 granddaughters; 2 brothers Robert Castonguay of Linwood and Ronald Castonguay of Uxbridge; 3 sisters, Barbara Rice of Bath, NY, Pauline Mowry of Kissimmee, FL, and Patricia Wright of Florida; and several nephews and nieces. Born in N. Uxbridge on May 21, 1946 he was the son of Roger A. and Cecile C. (Savage) Castonguay and lived in Whitinsville the past 30 years. Mr. Castonguay was a machine operator for Baystate Abrasives in Westborough for 33 years. He currently worked the past 2 years at Sanweld Industries in Worcester. He was educated in the Uxbridge public school system, was a U.S. Army Vietnam Veteran and a member of the VFW Post 1385 in Uxbridge. An avid golfer, he was a member of Whitinsville Golf Club and enjoyed his family, especially his 4 granddaughters. His funeral will be held Thurs. DESHAIES, JOSEPH N., 72, of Willow Rd. a U.S. Navy career man for 20 years and a HVAC mechanic for Bryant University for 20 years before retiring died Monday at Roger Williams Hospital. He was the beloved husband of Alice L. (Carberry) Deshaies. Born in Willimantic, CT, he was a son of the late Robert J. and Nirvah (Taillon) Deshaies, he lived in Greenville for 38 years, formerly residing in Providence. Mr. Deshaies was a communicant of St. Philip Church.He was the father of Robert J. Deshaies and Denise A. Trainor. Grandfather of Kyle P. and Allison V. Trainor. Father-in-law of Cheryl A. Deshaies, Kevin P. Brian M. DuFresne, 64, of Las Vegas, passed away Sunday, Sept. 18, 2005. He was born Jan. 15, 1941, in Somerset, Wis., and resided in Las Vegas for 24 years. Brian was a retired commercial electrician and a member of IBEW Local #357. He was also a sergeant in the U.S. Army. Brian was preceded in death by his brother, Keith DuFresne. He is survived by his wife, Cathy DuFresne; daughters, Denise Tipka of Lakeville, Minn., and Jodi Rubinol of Las Vegas; son, Brian DuFresne II of Shreveport, La.; sisters, Iris (Jack) Kadric of Scottsdale, Ariz., Ramona Kaiser of St. Paul, Minn., Barbara Mangan, Vonnie Rae (Bud) Payette, all of Maplewood, Minn., Kitty (Paul) Hartmon Lehner of Oakdale, Minn., Sandy DuFresne of St. Paul, Minn., and Susan Parnell (Jonathan Cates) of Tuscon, Ariz.; brothers, Dean (Joyce) DuFresne of Roseville, Minn., and Neil (Joanne) DuFresne of Phoenix; and six grandchildren. FONTAINE, Romeo After a long, full and prosperous life, Romeo Fontaine died on Saturday, (September 17, 2005) at the age of 87. Born in New Bedford, MA and raised in Fall River, MA he served in the US Army from 1942-1944 in North Africa and Italy during World War II receiving a Bronze star for valor. Upon returning after the war was over he moved his family to East Hartford, where he became employed by Pratt & Whitney Aircraft retiring some 40 years later. Shortly after retirement he and Florette moved to Floyd, VA to enjoy the peace and quiet and the picturesque setting of the Blue Ridge Mountains. Born under the cloud of World War I, growing up during the Great Depression and serving his country during America's greatest conflict, he was truly a member of "The Greatest Generation". He was predeceased by his brother Normand. He is survived by his loving wife of 65 years Florette and five children Romeo Jr. and Wanda Fontaine of Apex, NC, Jacqueline and David Doyle of South Windsor, Paul and Linda Fontaine of Floyd, VA, Diane and Roy Sullivan of Tolland, and Florette and Guy Mozzicato of Ashford. In addition he leaves behind three sisters, Juliette Gonsalves of Acushnet, MA, Doris Moore of Floyd, VA and Pauline DeFrancesco of Middleton. His legacy lives on thru 15 grandchildren and 15 great grand children. We will miss him. Memorial services will be held at Mt. Zion Lutheran Church in Floyd, VA at 1 p.m. September 29. NEW BEDFORD -- Barbara J. (Tripp) Pinard, 67, of New Bedford, died unexpectedly Saturday, Sept. 17, 2005, at St. Luke's Hospital. She was the widow of Emile Pinard. A lifelong resident of New Bedford, she was a daughter of the late Robert B. and Marie J. (Lague) Tripp. Mrs. Pinard was a homemaker and a communicant of St. Anthony of Padua Church in New Bedford. She was a member of Sacred Heart of Jesus Church, the Ladies of St. Anne, and the Sacred Heart Bingo Committee. She was a member and former treasurer of the Circle of Charity. She was once the recording secretary of the AARP, the Webster Senior Center, and the Council on Aging in Webster, where she was named an honorary member. LEICESTER— Edward P. LaBrie, 87, of Pleasant Street died Monday Sept. 19 , in the Lutheran Home after an illness. He leaves his Wife Irene A. (Noyes) LaBrie, two grandchildren Michael and Lauren LaBrie of Concord, a daughter-in-law Donna LaBrie of Concord, a niece Diane Leverson of Vernon, CT and a Godson Eric N. Leverson of Agawam. He is pre-deceased by a son David P. LaBrie, a brother Arthur A. LaBrie and two sisters Delia and Alice LaBrie. Mr. LaBrie was born in Worcester son of Napoleon A. and Diana (Belanger) LaBrie. He worked as an electrician in the Worcester area most of his life before retiring and wintering in Zephyrhills, FL. He was a World War II Army Veteran. He enjoyed camping and was a member of the North American Campers Association. He was a member of St.Aloysius-St. Jude Church. Lillian Lacroix Lavigne, age 93, of Trumbull, died Monday, September, 19 2005 at Northbridge Health Care Center. Mrs. Lavigne was born in Rumford, Maine, and resided in Trumbull for many years. He was employed at Philson in Watertown and was also the owner of Keith's Asphalt and Driveway Sealing Company. He was a member of Mill Plain Golf League and an avid fan of the New York Yankee's and New York Giants. He was a fisherman and communicant of St. Anthony Church. Besides his wife and parents, he leaves a son, Nicholas F. LaPlante of Prospect; a brother, Scott LaPlante of Naugatuck; and his grandmother, Clara Stouffer of Enfield. SANFORD, Maine — Ann M. Robichaud, 74, of Sanford, Maine, died early Monday, Sept. 19, 2005, in Biddeford, Maine. She was born in Dover, N.H., on Jan. 29, 1931. She was the daughter of the late Arthur and Gladys Hall McKenney. She was raised in Dover, and graduated from St. Mary's High School there. In 1971, she married Rene' Robichaud and moved to Sanford. For over 25 years, she worked at Elcons in Springvale. She loved to travel. She was able to see places like Ireland, Germany, Alaska, Italy, and the Caribbean. She was a loving wife, mother and grandmother, and will be missed by the many who's lives she touched. Predeceasing her were her parents, and a sister, Alicia. Surviving is her husband of 34 years, Rene' Robichaud of Sanford; two daughters, Pamela Cabana of Shapleigh, Robyn Robichaud of East Greenbush; three brothers, Richard and Arthur of Dover, John of Rochester, N.H.; three sisters, Kathleen, Mary, and Rita, all of Dover; two grandchildren, and several nieces and nephews. A period of visitation will be held on Wednesday, Sept. 21 from 4 p.m. to 7 p.m. at the Lafrance-Lambert & Black Funeral Home, 29 Winter St., Sanford. WILBRAHAM - Josephine (Mendoluski) Surprenant, 96, of Wilbraham, passed away on Monday September 19, 2005. Born in Palmer and a resident of Indian Orchard for most of her life, she was the daughter of the late Thomas and Antonia (Grahowski) Mendoluski. Josephine was employed for (35) years as manager for the former Clayton Cleaners of Springfield. She was also a communicant of St. Jude Church of Indian Orchard. She is survived by a son; Earl Supernant of Chicopee; a daughter; Shirley Sagon of Springfield; (4) grandchildren; Kathleen Silliker of Indian Orchard; Debra Carabetta of South Carolina; Christen Supernant of Chicopee; Earl Supernant, III of Chicopee and (2) great grandchildren; Kollyn Silliker of Indian Orchard and Emily Supernant of Chicopee. Josephine was predeceased by her husband, Earl Surprenant in 1989. The funeral will be Thursday morning from the Ratell Funeral Home 200 Main St., Indian Orchard at 8 a.m., followed by the Liturgy of Christian Burial in St. Jude Church at 9 a.m. Burial will be in St. Aloysius Cemetery, Indian Orchard. WEST DENNIS - Dr. Thomas M. Michel of West Dennis and Dover died unexpectedly Saturday in West Dennis. He was the husband of Ayune E. (Douglass) Michel. Dr. Michel was born in Framingham, raised in Dover, where he lived all of his life, and graduated from the Rivers School in Weston. He attended Clark University in Worcester and graduated from College of the Holy Cross in Worcester, Tufts University School of Dental Medicine and Tufts School of Periodontology. He maintained a dental practice in Natick for more than 20 years. He was a member of Mount Horeb Masonic Lodge AF&AM, Dennis, Meridan Lodge AF&AM of Natick and the Shriners. He was also a member of the Massachusetts and American dental societies and Massachusetts Periodontology Society. Besides his wife, survivors include a sister, Rosemary V. Michel of Augusta, Maine; and four nieces. Visitation is 4 to 8 p.m. tomorrow at John Everett & Sons Funeral Home, 4 Park St., Natick. A memorial service will be at 11 a.m. Thursday at the funeral home. Burial is private. GLENBURN - Joseph Morin Sr. of Pushaw Road, 82, died Sept. 17, 2005. He was born July 24, 1923, the son of Peter and Alexandria Morin. He was one of six children. Joseph worked for many years on the family farm in Glenburn. He then started a construction company, Joe Morin and Son, followed by 14 years at the University of Maine until he retired in 1997. He married Belva G. Archer, April 17, 1945, and were married for more than 59 years. Belva predeceased Joe in September of last year. On their 50th wedding anniversary they spent two weeks in Hawaii with other family members and later enjoyed a cruise to the Virgin Islands. Joe loved to watch boxing on TV and especially enjoyed the many hours keeping the family estate looking beautiful. Friends and family always said when he mowed his lawn it looked like a golf course green and always commented on his very dark tan from working outside most of his life that he had all year round. He is survived by his daughter, Betty Lou Trufant and her husband, Ronald, of Windham; one son, Joseph Morin Jr. and his wife, Sharon, of Glenburn; one granddaughter, Darcelle A. Jacobs and her son, Jonathon L. Jacobs III, of Windham; one grandson, Christopher J. Morin of Glenburn; many nieces and nephews. There will be no visiting hours or services. LEE -- Alice Cora Fox, 86, of 610 Laurel St., formerly of 84 Sheffield St., Pittsfield, died Sunday at Laurel Lake Center. Born in Countess, Alberta, Canada, on Aug. 3, 1919, daughter of Joseph and Alexina Duclos Ouellette, she moved to Pittsfield as a child and was educated in local schools, including the former Berkshire Business College. Mrs. Fox was employed by Berkshire Woolen Mills in Pittsfield until her marriage to Gerald Fox in 1944. In 1958, she and the late Arthur Tinney opened Drapery World in Pittsfield. She retired from there in 1979 and moved to Harlingen, Texas. After her husband's death in 2003, she moved to Lee. She was a member of the Catholic Daughters of the Americas and the National Quota Club. She leaves a daughter, Lorraine Fox Jahn of Lee; a brother, Leo N. Ouellette of Pittsfield; two sisters, G. Jeanne Maher of Denver and Dorothy Fannon of Los Angeles, and two granddaughters. She was predeceased by her sons, John C. Fox and Daniel J. Fox. FUNERAL NOTICE -- A memorial service for Alice C. James V. Patenaude, 65, of Manchester died September 18, 2005 at Hanover Hill Health Care following a lengthy illness.Mr. Patenaude was born on January 20, 1940 in Gardener, MA the son of Arthur and Laura (Chatfield) Patenaude. He was a US Navy veteran who served his country for four years. He was a truck driver for over 20 years at Auclair Transportation and for the past ten years he was employed as a youth counselor for YDC. Mr. Patenaude was a member of the East Manchester Fish and Game Club, American Legion Post 79 and lifetime member of the DAV.Family members include; his wife of 45 years, Nancy (Magdziarz) Patenaude; one son, Russell Patenaude of Sanford, ME; one daughter, Karen Rix of Hooksett; five grandchildren; one great grandson; one brother, Eugene Patenaude of Sebring, FL; a sister, Marianne Holder of WA; several nieces, nephews, aunts and uncles. He was predeceased by a brother, Arthur Patenaude.There will be a Memorial Service on Wednesday, October 5th at 2:00 PM at the New Hampshire State Veteran Cemetery in Boscawen. She had made her home in Grosvenordale all her life, a communicant of St Joseph Church in North Grosvenordale. She had worked at Bentley Shoe Company, B & W. Shoe Company and at Faucher's Bakery. Her enjoyment was working at the Good Shepherd Shop, volunteering many hours. She was an active member of the V F W Ladies Auxiliary in North Grosvenordale. She enjoyed making puzzles and never passed a yard sale. She loved taking her young family on day trips and also enjoyed her annual trips to the LaSalette Shrine. She leaves her children: Marie Jean Boutin and her husband Norman of Pomfret Center; Dr. Ernest M. Julian, PhD and his wife Linda of Barrington, RI; Jerry E. Julian and his wife Justine of Grosvenordale; Roland E. Julian and his wife Wendy of Grosvenordale; ten grandchildren and eight great grandchildren and several nieces and nephews. RIVARD, Candy (Age 55) - Passed away at her home on September 18, 2005,after a courageous battle with pancreatic cancer. Born July 31, 1950 in Biloxi, Mississippi. She has been a resident of Cheney for 29 years. Candy is preceded in death by her parents, Gene and Lee Rockey, and three brothers, Bruce, Terry, and Jeff. She is survived by her husband of 34 years, Patrick; and their two daughters, Katie and Emily; and a nephew, Aaron; sisters, Dare (Fort Worth, TX), Deni (Everett, WA) and Mari (Eagle Pointe, OR); brothers, Gene David (Spokane, WA), Mark (Four Lakes, WA) and Brian (Weather-ford, TX); and several nieces and nephews. Candy was the school secretary at Reid Elementary in Cheney, WA, where she worked for many years. She loved working at the school and enjoyed her co-workers and students. She cherished spending time with her family and friends, and adored going for drives and taking walks with her husband and her beloved dogs. LaVerne led a simple and honest life as the matriarch of a large family. She was guardian, protector and healer to many. She was a gardener, seamstress, baker, picture taker, golfer, decorator, collector, painter, storyteller, lover of music and animals, especially horses. SOUTH HADLEY - Gertrude Cecilia (Parisien) Harvey, age 91, formerly of Clarksburg, MA, and Lake Worth, FL passed away on Sept. 17, 2005 at a skilled nursing facility in South Hadley, MA after a short illness. Born in North Adams, MA on April 16, 1914, she was the youngest child and last remaining offspring of Genevieve (Healey) and Louis Parisien. Her family lived in both Canada and the United States. Mrs. Harvey is survived by four daughters, Windella H. Marion of South Hadley, Jo-Ann Harvey Austin and her spouse Robert Austin of Jaffrey, NH, Mary Jane Harvey of Adams, MA, Charlotte M. Harvey and her spouse James Craft of Longwood, FL, and her son Daniel A. Harvey and partner The Rev. Alcide Barnaby of Providence, RI, 3 grandchildren, 3 great-grandchildren, and numerous nieces and nephews. Her husband, Arthur Harvey, predeceased her on July 2, 2005. Mrs. Harvey graduated from the former Hotel Dieu Nursing School in Ontario, Canada in 1935, moving to NYC to be employed in both hospital and private duty nursing. After her 1940 marriage to Mr. Harvey, the couple settled in Clarksburg, MA where Mrs. Harvey assisted with civil defense training, polio inoculations and as consultant for grammar school nurses. She was an active member of St. Francis of Assisi Roman Catholic Church and volunteered for the former St. Joseph's Regional grammar and high school in No. Adams, MA. Mrs. Harvey, an avid and accomplished golfer, was active in the North Adams Country Club (MA) and the Lake Worth Country Club (FL). Funeral services will be conducted from the Barry J. Farrell Funeral Home, 2049 Northampton St., Holyoke, MA on Sept. 21, 2005, with a Mass of Christian Burial at Blessed Sacrament Church in Holyoke, MA at 1 p.m. Visiting hours are 10:15 a.m. to 12:15 p.m. that day. Burial will be at the convenience of the family. Bouchard, Richard Joseph -- Born: December 21, 1936 Died: September 16, 2005 On September 16, 2005 Mr. Richard Joseph Bouchard passed away at Huntington Memorial Hospital after a lengthy battle with cancer. Richard is survived by his wife, Joan Bouchard, of 47 years; their four sons, Richard, Christopher, Tony, and Matthew; and his six grandchildren, Elianne, Matthew, Christina, John, Mackenzie, and Gladis. Richard and Joan, both Ogdensburg natives, met in Ogdensburg, New York in 1953; a small upstate community close to the Canadian border that they both called home. Richard and Joan married in Ogdensburg, in June 1958, at St. Mary's Catholic Cathedral. Richard and his family lived in La Canada, California from 1975 until 2002 when Richard and Joan moved to Pasadena, California. Richard and Joan have been parishioners of St. Bede's Church of La Canada since 1975. Richard was the son of Mr. and Mrs. Henry Bouchard of Denny Street and Joan is the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Helmer Barr of Green Street, both located in Ogdensburg, New York. Richard graduated from Ogdensburg Free Academy in New York in 1954. He then went to Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute (RPI) and graduated in 1958 with his B.S. in Civil Engineering. Richard eventually became president of his Pi Kappa Phi fraternity. Richard also played varsity football at RPI. Richard then subsequently received his M.S. in Civil Engineering from the University of North Carolina at Chapter Hill in 1961. The engrained principles and standards that were so much a part of the Ogdensburg community continued to flourish in Richard as he always seemed to first concern himself with his relationship to humanity. Second only to his family, Richard loved his work and he spent a good portion of his life dedicating his efforts there. Due to his tremendous ambition and dedication that was engrained into him from his mother and father, Richard held many different positions throughout his professional career. Some of which include positions in the U.S. Federal Highway Administration, Director of Planning for the State of Rhode Island, Director of Environmental Research and Planning Assistance for the U.S. Department of Transportation, Director of Transportation and Chief Operating Officer for Daniel, Mann, Johnson, and Mendenhall, Manager of Corporate Development for Ashland Technology Group, and finally retiring in 1997 as Executive Vice President and Chief Operating Officer for AECOM Technology Corporation. Richard had served on several different Board of Director positions. Some of which include the Los Angeles County Economic Development Committee, Daniel, Mann, Johnson, and Mendenhall, Uniglobe Butterfield Travel Agency, American Public Transit Foundation, several AECOM Engineering Corporations, and Rennselaer Polytechnic Institute. One institution that reserved an exceptionally warm and proud place in Richard's heart was the Fredric R. Remington International Art Museum which was based also in Ogdensburg, New York. Richard served on the Board of Trustees for the museum with great hometown passion and pride. Richard always spoke highly of his past fellow colleagues and he wishes them all the best and continued success. When we think of Richard and what he stood for in his lifetime, the following thoughts necessarily come to the forefront of our minds: generosity; unselfishness; devotion; giving; loving; and the deep sense of repayment back to mankind for allowing a successful family and business life. Richard will be greatly missed by all that he touched and influenced throughout his 68 years of being with us. His family is deeply saddened by his passing but thankful that Richard can finally be closer to the Lord, a crusade that was his quiet and private quest. In lieu of flowers, the Bouchard family is asking that donations be made in Richard's name to any of the following institutions: the American Cancer Society; Cedars Sinai Liver Transplant Team; or Rochester Strong Memorial Hospital Liver Transplant Team, in an effort to help find a cure for cancer, so that not one more person will have to lose a loved one to this 1010 Published in the Los Angeles Times on 9/20/2005.
