ALTON — Robert Edward Grenier, 81, of Alton, died after a brief illness at Mass. General Hospital in Boston surrounded by family on August 12, 2005. He was born in Springvale, Maine on Dec. 2, 1923, the son of Victor and Georgianna Grenier. He was a U.S. Army veteran of World War II. He later worked at United Tanning of Dover until an early retirement. He was a longtime resident of Green Street in Somersworth until his move to Alton approximately ten years ago. For many years he was an avid boater on Lake Winnipesaukee, enjoying entertaining his family and friends. He was predeceased by his parents, Victor and Georgianna Grenier, and his older brother, Bill Grenier. He is survived by his wife of 43 years, Phyllis Grenier, known to him as "Lil Palooka," who he loved dearly. Also, his three sisters, Arlene Verville of Maine, Irene Fagan of Dover and Anita Doherty of Dover; his children: Laura (Grenier) Young and husband John of Rochester, Pamela Grenier and Scott MacGregor of Lunenberg, Mass. and Cathy Gonthier and husband Norman of Dover; a son, Marc A. Grenier and Julie Ellis of Lebanon, Maine; Grandchildren: Stacey Gonthier, Jason Ditucci, Richard DeCost, Scott DeCost, Marcie Grenier and Scott Pack; Great-Grandchildren: Jayleigh Ditucci, Marc Pack, Ashton Pack, Corinne DeCost, Kendall DeCost, Delaney DeCost, Sean Michael Grenier, and Lateesha Grenier. Of him, his family wrote: He had an overabundance of friends which he and they considered as being family, not just friends. He was known as "PaPa" to all who knew him and was loved by all. He was happiest working around his property, making sure his lawns were manicured, riding his tractor, taking pride in his efforts. But he was never too busy to stop and sit and visit with the many friends or neighbors who stopped by every day. He will truly be missed. There are no calling hours or services at his request. GREGORY, ROBERT MANSFIELD - 70, Forest Glen, died August 11, 2005, at home. Born April 6, 1935 in Saint John, NB he was the eldest son of the late Robert A. and Gertrude B. (Deakin) Gregory. Following graduation from Saint John High School in 1956, Bob joined the Bank of Montreal, where he was employed for 33 years, serving in branches in Saint John and across Nova Scotia. Bob loved everything about the outdoors, especially fishing and hunting or just a nice walk in the woods - he loved the view of Parr Lake seen from his front deck. He leaves his wife of 48 years, Jean (Stewart) Gregory; son, Robert S. (Lana), St. John's, Nfld.; daughter, Karen L. (Carter) Kennedy, Perth Andover, NB; grandchildren, Kelan, Zoe, Jeran, Calvin, Liam and Mariel; brothers, Gordon (Carol), Fredericton, NB, David (Bette Anne), Fort MacLeod, Alberta; George (Carol), Queenstown, NB; many nieces and nephews. GODIN, Alma Mary (nee Brownstein). 1934-2005. Passed away peacefully at the West Island Palliative Care Residence on August 13, 2005, in her seventieth year. AUGUSTA -- Antoinette Germaine Dupuis, 93, formerly of 4 Albert Ave., died Saturday, Aug. 13, 2005, at MaineGeneral Rehabilitation Center at Gray Birch. At the time of her death, she was surrounded in prayer by her loved ones. She was born in Augusta, Jan. 10, 1912, the daughter of Beloni and Clara (Poulin) Pare.Mrs. Dupuis was a communicant of St. Augustine Catholic Church. She had been employed at Bates Manufacturing Co., Edwards Division, for over 20 years; and had been a homemaker for most of her life, always caring for her family and extended family, always taking time to nurture her grandchildren, who have been left with many fond memories.She was predeceased by her husband, Albert J. Dupuis, in 1997; two infant brothers, Lionel and Gerard Pare; three other brothers, Wilfred Pare, Henry Pare and Eugene Pare; and a sister, Lillian Marceau.She is survived by her two daughters, Mrs. Lorraine Pouliot and her husband, Norman, and Diane Dupuis, both of Augusta; three brothers, Arthur Pare and Edmund Pare, both of Augusta, and Alphonse Pare of North Berwick; a sister, Dorothy Toman of Scarborough; five grandchildren; seven great-grandchildren; also several nieces, nephews and cousins. She will be missed by many. A special thank-you to the marvelous staff in the North Unit for the incredible care given to our mother and to our family. AUGUSTA -- Maurice (Moe) P. Dehetre, went to be with the Lord on Aug. 12, 2005. He was born April 7, 1947 in Lewiston.Mr. Dehetre attended schools in Lewiston, where he graduated from St. Dominic's High School. He also attended several colleges in Georgia and Maine, majoring in business administration.He served one year in Vietnam with the 101st Airborne during his three years with the Army. Following his honorable discharge from the Army, Maurice worked as an X-ray technician for the Togus veterans' hospital. After working at Togus, he went into business for himself and began his family with Liz. After pursuing his business venture in printing press operations, Maurice began working for Central Maine Newspapers. He worked 25 years in their press room and, for the past three years, he enjoyed working part-time for The Home Depot. Aside from spending time with family, he was an active member of the Family Worship Center in Augusta, where he sang as a soloist; the Salvation Army Advisory Board; and American Legion Post 205. He was a former member of the Knights of Columbus.He also enjoyed his hobbies, including model railroading, stamp collecting, post card collecting and Walt Disney collector pins. Maurice was predeceased by his parents, Roger P. and Esmay (Madore) Dehetre; and three grandchildren.Maurice was happily married for 38 years to Elizabeth R. Dehetre of Augusta. Together they had seven children: Philippe M. Dehetre of Richmond and his wife, Tammy; Lisa P. Hall and her husband James, of Randolph; Kevin M. Dehetre and his wife, Angie, of Augusta; Daniel P. Dehetre of Augusta; April M. Dehetre of Sidney; Rebecca A. Cates and her husband, Jamie, of Gardiner; and Andrew P. Dehetre of Randolph. He was a loving Grampie to his nine grandchildren: Alyssa, Jessica, Tyler, Dylan, Matthew, Justin, Mikayla, Emma and Peyton.He is also survived by one brother, Paul R. Dehetre and his wife, Patricia, of Lewiston; one sister, Diane Johnson and her husband, Wayne, of Lewiston; and several nieces and nephews.Visiting hours will be 2-4 and 6-8 p.m. Tuesday, Aug. 16, at Plummer Funeral Home, 16 Pleasant St., Augusta. Ella M. Hunt LOWER MILLSTREAM, NB - The death of Ella Mary Hunt occurred at Primrose Cottage, Lower Millstream, formerly of Kings Manor, Sussex, on August 13, 2005 at the age of 94. Ella was born at Cornhill on January 16, 1911, oldest child of the late Charles and Catherine (Branscombe) Hunt. She was the last surviving member of her immediate family. She is survived by two nieces; four nephews and their families. Ella was predeceased by her sister, Clara and brothers, Evans, Lloyd, Norman and Howard. Maud Helen Horsfall (née Crease) December 11, 1906 - August 14, 2005 Funeral arrangements by Sands Funeral Chapel (Duncan) Passed away peacefully on Sunday, August 14, 2005 in Duncan, BC at the age of 98 years. Maud was born in Victoria, BC on December 11, 1906, daughter of Arthur D. and Helen Crease of Oak Bay. Educated in Victoria BC and England; Maud lived in Duncan and Mesachie Lake and retired to England in 1969 and returned to the Duncan area in 1993. Predeceased by her husband Ronald H.S. Horsfall in 1992 and two brothers Tom and Harry. A Memorial Service will be held on Tuesday, August 23, 2005 at 2:00 p.m. at St. Peter’s Anglican Church (Quamichan), 5800 Church Road, Duncan, BC. Hazel Ingibjorg Guichon (née Goodman) March 18, 1916 - August 12, 2005 Funeral arrangements by Glen Eden Funeral Home (Winnipeg) HAZEL INGIBJORG GUICHON (nee GOODMAN) passed away peacefully at the age of 89 at Middlechurch Home of Winnipeg. She is survived by her daughters, Penny (Dennis) and Nancy (Patrick); grandchildren, Kristin (Michael), Ryan, Derek (Brenda), Alison (Jason) and Lindsey; Great-grandchildren, McKenna, Ethan and Emma and brother Bill Goodman, as well as many nieces and nephews. Hazel was predeceased by her husband Albert in 1997 and sisters Thelma Norton, Doreen Dalgliesh and Sylvia MacDonald. Hazel’s happiest times were by Albert’s side on journeys to Western Canada and the United States. She loved watching sports on TV, especially curling and football. Memorial service will be held on Tuesday, August 16 at 2:30 p.m. at the Glen Eden Funeral Home with interment to follow. James "Gouch" Philip Poirier April 23, 1947 - August 12, 2005 Funeral arrangements by Atlantic Funeral Home (Lower Sackville) POIRIER, James Philip "Gouch" - 58, Lake Fletcher, passed away August 12, 2005, in the VG Site, QEII. He was the eldest son of Muriel Chrystina (Grandy) Poirier and the late Arthur "Frenchie" Wilfred Poirier. Jim is survived by his loving wife of 38 years, Gail (McDonald); sons, James Jr., Sackville; Micheal (Reneé), Craig (Cindy), both of Lake Fletcher; daughters, Crystal (Robert), Bedford; Natasha, Lake Fletcher; stepson, Jeffrey, Dartmouth; sister, Irene (Richard) Cooper, Dartmouth; brother, Donald (Sue), North Vancouver, B.C.; several nieces and nephews. The light of his life were his grandchildren, Shauna Lynn Joyce (stepgranddaughter), Ryan Poirier, Jordan, Emerald and Jade McDougall. He will also be missed by his granddog, Morgan Poirier. Jim was predeceased by brother, Blair; sister-in-law, Corrine; niece, Wendy. Jim was passionate about the things he enjoyed in life, including his trade, plumbing, being the Pit Crew Chief for Brian Watson No. 9 Hobbystock racing, playing darts, his cottage that he shared with family in Notre-Dame, N.B., and happy hour anywhere with friends and family. Jim was also a member of the Royal Canadian Legion Dieppe No. 90, Waverley. A special thanks to all the doctors and nurses that helped Jim through his four year battle. Eric Douglas Stewart Funeral arrangements by Chapel Lawn Funeral Home ERIC DOUGLAS STEWART 1926 – 2005 It is with sad hearts, the family announces the passing of Eric Stewart, on August 12, 2005, at the Grace General Hospital. Dad fought a brave battle with lung disease over the past several years. He was predeceased by his wife Shirley in 1998. Eric will be lovingly remembered by his daughters Alison Stewart, Susan Finnigan (Warren), and grandson Ryan of Winnipeg; his sister Isobel Stewart of Toronto; brother-in-law Jack Brennan of Pasadena, California, as well as many special friends and neighbours. Eric was born in Toronto in 1926, and worked for many years with the Bank of Commerce, traveling and residing in several small towns in Northwestern Ontario and Saskatchewan. In 1965, he came to Winnipeg, where he met and married his wife Shirley, in 1966. He then worked for the finance department of the Manitoba Government for 22 years before his retirement in 1992. He enjoyed his involvement with the Kinsmen Club, and later continued in the K-40 Club of Winnipeg, where he had many friends. Dad was a kind and generous man who always made time for his family and friends. His warm sense of humour, hearty laugh, and sharp wit, will always be a loving remembrance for the family. The family would like to thank the medical teams of the ICU and the third floor of the Grace Hospital for their care and compassion. On his wishes, cremation has taken place. A service will be held on Tuesday, August 16, 2005 at 12:30 p.m. at Chapel Lawn Funeral Home, 4000 Portage Avenue with a reception to follow. TROIDE, Teresa (1948 2005) Passed away on Saturday, August 13, after a brave 8-month struggle with leukemia, at the age of 57. She will be grievously missed by her husband of 37 years, Professor Lars Troide. Mourned by her dear children Nathan and Maia. Predeceased by her parents, Wojciech (Walter) Marganski and Jadwiga Marganski, and her sister Ada (Marganski) Madura. She also leaves a sister, Janina Stepien, in Poland. She was born in Kolbuszowa, Poland, and in 1966 emigrated with her parents to the United States, where she met her husband at Yale University. They married in 1968, and in 1973 she received a Bachelor of Science degree from Southern Connecticut State College. In 1976 she moved with her husband to Montreal, and devoted the next decade to raising their two children. In 1991 she received a Master of Library and Information Studies degree from McGill University. She subsequently worked as legal librarian for Canadian Pacific Railway and then as information specialist for Canadian National Railway, until forced to retire by her illness. She enjoyed classical music, travel, camping, tennis, badminton, and cross-country skiing, and was a wonderful cook and gardener. She was a loving and devoted wife and mother, and a friendly, diligent and resourceful worker in her profession. Corea, Maine - Russell Francis Bernier, 87, formerly of East Hartford, died Aug. 13, 2005.He was born Feb. 7, 1918 in Hartford.Russell was a veteran of World War II. He was a lifelong resident of East Hartford, and became a member of the East Hartford Police Department in 1942. He served in every branch of the department and retired as commander in 1976. Russell then became a member of the East Hartford Democratic Town Committee. He was also a member of the East Hartford Retirement Board and the East Hartford Planning and Zoning Board.After his retirement from the police department, he became general manager of Storage World in East Hartford until he retired in 1985.He then moved to Mystic until 2004 when he and his wife moved to Corea, Maine to live.Russell is a retired member of the Connecticut Chiefs Police Association, the East Hartford Police Benevolent Association, and the East Hartford Police and Fireman's Benevolent Association.He was an avid Red Sox fan, as well as a fan of the Yukon's Women Basketball.He is survived by his wife of 68 years, Rosemarie Angelo Bernier, of Corea, Maine; his son, retired deputy fire chief of the East Hartford Fire Department, Wayne E. Bernier and his wife, Carol, of Corea, Maine; his daughter, Marlaine E. Bernier and her husband, Edmund Lamb, of Ledyard; granddaughter, Lynn M. Guerriero and her husband, Anthony Guerriero, of Hebron; great-grandchildren, Nicholas Cavaliere and Anthony Cavaliere; grandson, Scott W. Bernier and wife, Lori, of Clifton Park, N.Y.; and great-grandchildren, Kaycie Bernier, Madalyn Bernier, and Rhyan Bernier. He had many interests and activities which included fishing, gardening and any repair or renovation project. VAN BUREN - Lionel J. Cyr, 80, died Aug. 14, 2005, at a Van Buren nursing home. He was born April 9, 1925, in Van Buren, the son of Donat and Yvonne (St. Amant) Cyr. He was educated in local schools and was a 1943 graduate of Van Buren Boys High School. He was an Army veteran of World War II and a member and past commander of the American Legion, Levasseur-Farrell Post No. 49 of Van Buren. He was a member of the last group of servicemen who trained in the Seventh Cavalry Regiment. He was a charter member of the Disabled American Veterans, Parent-Ouellette Chapter and a member and past officer of the 40 and 8 Society. Lionel was a past member and officer of the Van Buren Jaycees, a member of the Van Buren Lions Club and the Knights of Columbus Council No. 1635 and was a past president and member of Club 17 at Long Lake's Van Buren Cove. Lionel worked as pest control specialist at the former Loring Air Force Base in Limestone for 28 years. He is survived by one son, James Cyr and his wife, Marie-Berthe, of El Portal, Calif.; one daughter, Rebecca Switzer and her husband, James, of Kerrville, Texas; two granddaughters, Lisa Rossignol and Jessica Eyles; five great- grandchildren, Chloe, Sierra, Noah, Denali and Kobe; three brothers, Philip "Pete" Cyr and Roland D. Cyr, both of Caribou, and Donat Cyr of Surfside Beach, S.C.; one sister, Yvonne "Peewee" Walls of Virginia. He will also be missed by a very special sister-in-law, Irena Cyr of Van Buren and her family. He was predeceased by his wife, Viola (Lapointe) Cyr on July 10, 2005. BERLIN — Leon Fillion, age 80, died Friday Aug. 12, 2005 at his residence in Berlin after a short illness. He was born September 21, 1924 in St. Bernard, PQ, Canada, the son of the late Exdras and Corine (Goulet) Fillion. He married Yvette Sylvain Sept. 3, 1949 in St. Patrice, PQ and she preceded him in death April 26, 1984. He was a former member of Guardian Angel Church, now known as St. Anne Church of the Good Shepherd Parish of Berlin, the Knights of Columbus and Holy Name Society. He was employed by Good Shepherd Parish and St. Michael School as a custodian, and previously employed by Guardian Angel Church and Notre Dame Arena in Berlin. His passion was to love and care for others, make people laugh, especially his family and friends, and preached to all to live. UN JOUR A LA FOIS! The family includes: two sons, Gerard Fillion and his wife Rachel of Berlin, and Donald Fillion of Portsmouth; four daughters, Marielle Houle and her husband Daniel of New Port Richey, Fla., Guylaine Donavan and her husband Tim of Berlin, Lucie Pemberton and her husband Michael of Trinity, Fla., and Sonia Fillion of Manchester; eight grandchildren, Jason Corrigan, Shawn Corrigan, Donnie Corrigan, Justin Fillion, Shelby Fillion, Jonathan Houle, Megan Pemberton and Kayla Pemberton; and three great-grandchildren, Adelie Corrigan, Olivia Corrigan and Bryson Corrigan; three brothers, Herve Fillion and his wife Rolande of Berthierville, PQ, Freddy Fillion and his wife Fernande of Montrial, PQ, and Phillipe Fillion; and two sisters, Isabelle Drapeau of Charny, PQ and Lydia Gobeil of St. Bernard, PQ. He was predeeded in death by one brother, Eddy Fillion, and two sisters, Maria Chabot and Carmelle Guay. Calling hours will be 2 to 4 p.m. and 7 to 9 p.m. Monday (today) at Fleury-Patry Funeral Home, 72 High Street, Berlin. A mass of Christian burial will be celebrated at 11 a.m. Tuesday at St. Anne Church of the Good Shepherd Parish, 345 Pleasant Street, Berlin. Burial will be in Mt. Calvary Cemetery, Berlin. Alice Marie (Gendron) Anctil, 77, of Manchester, NH died August 13, 2005 at Speare Memorial Hospital in Plymouth, NH. Born June 3, 1928, she was the daughter of Henri J. B. and Graziella Gendron. She was educated in the local school system. She was a longtime communicant of St. Anthony of Padua Church. Her husband, Donald L. Anctil, died in 1992. Members of her family include two sons, Dennis Anctil of Henniker and Daniel Anctil of Copgrove, England; three grandchildren, Jeffrey Anctil of Henniker, Zoe Anctil and Zachary Anctil, both of Copgrove, England; two brothers, Robert Gendron of Manchester and George Gendron of California; one sister, Yvonne Foote of Georgia; many nephews and nieces. Waltham – Mrs. Lorraine H. (Kelly) Bourque of Waltham died Sunday, August 14, 2005 at Cape Cod Hospital. She was 72.Born in Waltham, a daughter of the late Henry J. and Mary F. (Quirk) Kelly, she was a lifelong resident. She was a graduate of Saint Mary’s High School in Waltham and had been a member of the Marine Corps League Auxiliary. Mrs. Bourque was a tax preparer for the H&R Block Company and before that had been assistant manager at University Bank in Waltham. She had also worked as a telephone operator for the New England Telephone Company. She leaves her husband, William C. Bourque; three children, William C. Bourque, Jr. and his wife Patricia of Waltham, Patricia A. Duquette and her husband Mark of Southboro and Ronald J. Bourque and his wife Jessie of Medfield; her grandchildren, Cameron, Allison and Jonathan Duquette, Cory, Emily, Trevor, Lindsay, Katie and Joey Bourque; one sister, Barbara Remedis of Assonet and many nieces and nephews. She was also a sister of the late Leonard H., Richard J., Lt. Henry J., Jr., John F., Joseph E. Kelly, Rita M. Cloherty and Mary E. LUDLOW - William D. LaMotte, 74, of Edison Dr., Ludlow died Friday August 12 in Baystate Medical Center, Springfield, after a courageous battle with multiple myeloma. Born in Oswego, NY December 22, 1930 he was the son of the late Leroy and Ruth LaMotte. William had worked as a machinist, and as a supervisor with many years of service in the textile industry. Bill had also worked at Westvaco Company. A Korean War veteran, he proudly served his country as a member of the US Navy. He was the recipient of the National Defense Service Medal and the European Occupational Service Medal. He married Clara Turrini on June 11, 1955 and together they raised their family, having moved to Ludlow in 1961. This past June they celebrated 50 years of marriage. An avid camper, he loved the Lake George region. He was a member of the Brigham Lodge of Masons. He is survived by his wife Clara, a son David G. LaMotte and his wife Katherine of Amherst, MA daughters Kim M. Batista and her husband Kenneth of Ludlow, Cynthia J. Bobowiec and her husband Martin of Ludlow, Deborah A. Venne and her husband Francis of Granby, MA; brothers Roy LaMotte and his wife Bernice of Springfield, Richard LaMotte of Springfield, Rodney LaMotte and his wife Evelyn of Wilbraham, MA; his sisters Elizabeth Ryan and her husband Edward of Springfield, and Marcella Waldron and her husband Edward of New Hampshire. Grandfather of Cory, Kelly, Jaclyn, Thomas, Kristen and Erik. Bill is also survived my many nieces and nephews and friends. Bill will also be missed by his four legged friend Lucky. He was also predeceased by a special dog Thumper. His funeral will be Wednesday August 17 at 11 AM at the Kapinos-Mazur Funeral Home, 64 Sewall St., Ludlow, MA with Fr. David Darcey Officiating. BROCKTON -- Germaine Corriveau, 91, of Charles St., Fall River, died Saturday, Aug. 13, 2005, at Caritas Good Samaritan Medical Center. She was the widow of Leo A. Corriveau. A lifelong resident of Fall River, she was the daughter of the late Arthur and Alphonsine (Dufresne) Rochefort. Survivors include a daughter, Janice Bolduc of Westport; a sister, Bertha LeBoeuf of Fall River; a daughter-in-law, Jane Getz and her husband, John, of Brooklyn, Conn.; four grandchildren; five great-grandchildren; and nieces and nephews. She was the mother of the late Norman L. Corriveau and sister of the late Rozilda LeBoeuf, Rene Rochefort, Roland Rochefort and Albert Rochefort. Her funeral will be at 10:30 a.m. Tuesday from the Auclair Funeral Home, 690 S. Main St., Fall River, with a funeral Mass at 11 a.m. in Good Shepherd Church. Burial will be in Notre Dame Cemetery.

HAWKINS, GERTRUDE MAUDE (MAUDIE) G. Maude (Maudie) Hawkins of Maplewood passed away August 13, 2005 at the Dr. Everett Chalmers Hospital. Born at Woodstock in 1917, she was a daughter of the late W. Spurgeon and Gertrude (Murray) Yerxa. Maudie moved to Millville to become a secretary at H. C. Greenlaw Ltd. She later married Allison Hawkins and together they operated a potato farm at Maplewood. At one time the farm was affiliated with the Government of Canada as an experimental farm which led Maudie to gather weather information for Environment Canada for more than 40 years. She had also served as an observer of aircraft for the Department of Defense during the 1940's. Maudie was the devoted mother of four daughters, Margaret Hanson, Maplewood, Pauline McCorquindale (Lloyd), Hartfield, Betty Albright (Paul), Burtts Corner, and Judy Christie (Leon), Temperance Vale; two sons, Charles Hawkins, Toronto, ON and Allison Hawkins, Maplewood. She is also survived by a son-in-law, Graydon Brown, Bowmanville, ON; a granddaughter, Tina Hanson and ten additional grandchildren; sixteen great grandchildren; several sisters-in-law, Janice Hawkins, Pauline Hawkins, and Bertha Hawkins; several nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by her husband in 1984; a daughter, Christina Brown; a son, Billy Hawkins; a son-inlaw, Timothy Hanson; five sisters, Pauline Shaw, Anna Bower, Betty Garland, Madeline Yerxa and Eileen Yerxa and a brother, Kenneth Yerxa. LAKE CHARLES - Dorothy V. Begnaud, 81, of LeBleu Settlement died at 8 a.m. Saturday, Aug. 13, 2005, in a local hospital.A native and 22 year resident of San Diego, Calif., Mrs. Begnaud was a former resident of Lafayette, before residing in Lake Charles for 23 years. She had lived in LeBleu Settlement for the past 23 years where she was a member of St. Joseph Catholic Church. She was a former member of the YMCA where she served on the Board of Directors. Mrs. Begnaud, who will always be remembered for her cooking, loved to read and most of all loved to spend time with her family.Mrs. Begnaud is survived by her loving husband of 57 years, Lee W. He was born on Dec. 20, 1962, the son of Robert Boucher and Elaine Royer. Darryl was raised in Manchester and lived in Northfield for 20 years. He was employed by Hewlett-Packard Financial Services in Andover, Mass.
