THORNTON, BEATRICE HELEN Beatrice Helen Thornton (Cooke) formerly of Fredericton and Oromocto, passed away at Mill Cove Nursing Home following a lengthy illness. Born in East Saint John, Bea was the only daughter of Jesse and Margaret (Johnston) Cooke of Coldbrook. A loyal and dedicated career woman, Bea was employed with The Daily Gleaner for over 27 years, retiring in 1985. In addition to being a wonderful mother and grandmother "Nanny Bea" was an extremely generous, warm and loving person with a keen sense of humour, reflected in her ever present smile. Bea was also known for her beautiful craftwork, whether it be sewing, knitting, crocheting or needlepoint. Every piece was a treasured work of art. Bea is survived by her daughter, Brenda L. Knight (Jim) of St. Stephen; son, Wayne F. Thornton (Bonny) of Fredericton; grandchildren, Tricia Jarratt (Bill), Michael Wilson, LaurieAnn Wilson, Jeffery Thornton (Jodi), Jonathan Thornton, Joel Thornton (Susan) and step-grandchildren, Sherry Knight and Cindy Morehouse (Ron) as well as great grandchildren, nieces, nephews, cousins, grand nieces and nephews and sisters-in-law. Bea will be sadly missed by her family as well as her extended family at Mill Cove Nursing Home. Visitation will be held at Oromocto Select Community Funeral Home on Tuesday, August 9th, 2005 from 7-9 pm. FONTAINE, Jacques p.m.é 1930 - 2005 M. l'abbé Jacques Fontaine, prêtre des Missions-Étrangères, est décédé à Montréal, le 3 août 2005, à l'âge de 75 ans. Né à Montréal le 13 mai 1930, il était le fils de Jules Fontaine et de Marie-Anne Morvan. Il a fait son cours classique au Séminaire de Nicolet et au Collège Ste-Marie de Montréal, puis ses études théologiques au Grand Séminaire des Missions-Étrangères de Pont-Viau. Ordonné prêtre le 3 juillet 1955, il part pour le Honduras le 18 septembre 1956 où il a travaillé comme missionnaire jusqu'en 1998. Au Canada, il travailla à l'animation pastorale à la résidence l'Oasis de Laval: 1999 - 2004. Il laisse dans le deuil, outre ses confrères missionnaires, ses frères Laurent (Odile Barette), André (Lucie Lacroix), Michel (Suzie Tremblay), ses soeurs Marthe, Louise (André Dugas), Monique (André Thibodeau), ainsi que des neveux, des nièces et de nombreux autres parents et amis. LISBON - Katherine "Katie" Breton, 79, passed away at her home in Lisbon this past weekend.She was born in Lisbon, Aug. 24, 1925, daughter of the late Telesphore and Florence (Norbury) Breton. She graduated from Lisbon High School in 1943 and remained a lifelong resident of Lisbon.After maintaining a job at Worumbo Mill for several years, she became a certified nursing assistant and worked for companies such as Androscoggin Home Health Services.She was a member of Holy Trinity Church, and gave her life to her belief and religion. One of her many sayings were "If you live by the book, you will have a good life." Every day of her life is testimony to how true that is.While her personal life and health remained private, her special way of loving reached out to anyone and everyone she's ever met. Her love was not always evident when meeting her, but it was shown in small acts of kindness - such as donations of food and money to charities, foundations and even friends; she never asked for anything in return.She loved to garden and feeding wildlife, with her 14 bird feeders and salt licks for the deer. She was often seen taking walks with her handmade walking stick down Ferry Road.She was compassionate with a care giving nature about her that will be sadly missed but always remembered.She is survived by her great-niece, whom she often called the daughter she never had, Tonie and her husband, Charles May, of Lewiston; her three special great-great-nephews, Michael and Joshua Trepanier, and Danny Rand; and several nieces, nephews, cousins and many friends.

FAIRHAVEN -- Romeo A. Daniel, 75, of Fairhaven died Saturday, Aug. 6, 2005, at Our Lady's Haven after a long illness. He was the widower of Leona B. (Lemieux) Daniel, who died on March 26. They had been married 52 years. Born in New Bedford, he was the son of the late Cleophas and Elvina (Desorcy) Daniel. He had lived in Fairhaven for most of his life and was a communicant of St. Joseph's Church. Mr. Daniel was a district manager for The Standard-Times for many years until he retired. An Army veteran, he served from 1947 to 1950. He was a member of the Benevolent and Protective Order of Elks Lodge 73 in New Bedford and the American Legion. He enjoyed spending time with his family and grandchildren. He also enjoyed camping and sports, especially the Boston Red Sox. He had been a Little League baseball coach. Survivors include three sons, Dennis Danie, and his wife, Denise, of Fairhaven, Stephen Daniel of Taunton, and Gerald Daniel and his wife, Anna, of Underhill, Vt.; four daughters, Cecile Waterman and her husband, George, of Gilbertsville, Pa., Anne Boulay and her husband, Mark, of Rochester, Linda Tchorz of Acushnet, and Jane Clough and her husband, Daniel, of Fairhaven; three brothers, Norman Daniel and his wife, M. Celia, of Jupiter, Fla., and Albert Daniel and his wife, Lorraine, and Paul Daniel, all of Acushnet; 17 grandchildren; and a great-granddaughter. His funeral Mass will be at 10 a.m. Thursday at St. Joseph's Church. Burial will follow in River-Side Cemetery. Arrangements are by the Saunders-Dwyer Mattapoisett Home for Funerals, 50 County Road (Route 6), Mattapoisett.

DOUGLAS— John A. Desjourdy, 63, of Douglas, died Sunday, August 7 at Worcester Medical Center. He was the husband of Eileen (Snyder) Desjourdy. Mr. Desjourdy had been a custodian for the Northbridge school system until retiring in 2002. Previously, he had been employed by the former Wilson Freight Co. A.T.F. Davidson Co. and Coz Chemical. He was a veteran of the U.S. Air Force. He was born in Northbridge, son of the late Alfred and Rose (Duso) Desjourdy and had been a lifelong resident of the Linwood and Whitinsville areas of Northbridge prior to moving to Douglas thirteen years ago. He enjoyed traveling with his wife. In addition to his wife, he is survived by a son, David LeClairc, three daughters, Jo Ann Birtz, Debbra Mahoney, Elaine McDermott; a brother, Micheal Desjourdy; a sister, Mary Ann McCrory, 13 grandchilden, 1 great-grandchild. He was also the brother of Joseph Desjourdy, who died on July 16, 2005. A Graveside Service will be held Thursday, August 11, at 11 a.m. in St. Patrick’s Cemetery, Providence Rd., Northbridge. He was the beloved husband of Hazel (Cote) Godin whom he married June 25, 1945 at St. Mary Church, Putnam. Born October 31, 1921 in Woonsocket, Rhode Island, son of the late Simeon and Yvonne (Godfrey) Godin. He was employed as a machine operator at the US Button Shop in Putnam (Parizek and Koppers Corp) from 1955 until his retirement in 1984. He cooked at the Pomfret School in 1944, worked for the C.C.C. Camp during World War II, and for Cluet and Peabody from 1945 to 1955. LEWISTON - Roland A. Pomerleau, 81, of 102 Campus Ave., died Saturday, Aug. 7, at St. Marguerite d'Youville Pavilion, after a long illness.Born in Jackman, June 28, 1924, the son of Alfred and Bertha (Rancourt) Pomerleau, he had been a resident of this community since 1941.He was a U.S. Army veteran of World War II, serving in the European theater - including France and Belgium - with the 133rd Combat Engineers.He worked in the local shoe industry and was employed by Antoine Rubber for more than 17 years, retiring in 1991.He was a member of the Basilica of Saints Peter and Paul.He will be remembered as a soft spoken man of few words whose actions spoke volumes about his character. He was a man who possessed great wit and a devoted family man who loved watching his grandson, Tyler, participate in sports - especially hockey. He was extremely proud of his grandson and he was one of the main reasons that he was able to continue his journey here on earth, despite his failing health during the past year.He always made sacrifices so that others would not be lacking, despite his own needs.He also had a special place in his heart for his extended family at 2 West and in years past at 2 East at d'Youville Pavilion, and all other compassionate caregivers who went out of their way to just stop by to say hello or to offer a smile and who made his day-to-day grind more bearable.He is now in the company of his beloved wife, the former Lorraine (Roy), who predeceased him in 1985. Together their journey now continues through eternity.He is survived by three sons, Ronald and his wife, Suzanne Pomerleau, of Auburn, Kenneth Pomerleau of Gresham, Ore., and David and his wife, Denise Pomerleau, of Sabattus; five grandchildren; and nieces and nephews.He was predeceased by a brother, Patrick Pomerleau.

She was born in Holyoke August 2, 1924, the daughter of the late George and Celina (Durand) Rivet. She was a lifelong Chicopee resident and attended local schools. She retired as a dietary supervisor from Mount St. Vincent Nursing Home in 1982. Her greatest enjoyment was the love of her family, her grandchildren and great grandchildren and playing Bingo. She is survived by her son, William Emmons and his wife Linda of South Hadley, six daughters, the oldest and loving caregiver, Kathleen Gallacher with whom she lived,Jane Dennis of Springfield, Sharen Theroux and her companion Roy Hurlburt of Agawam, Karen Chartier and her fiancé Bob Boyle of Chicopee, Jo-Ann and Ron Deslauriers of Chicopee, and Lynn and Glenn Carboneau of Westfield. She also leaves two siblings, Annette Sherrer and Robert Rivet, both of Chicopee. She will be sadly missed and always remembered by twenty-two grandchildren, eighteen great grandchildren and many nieces and nephews, and her dear friend Evelyn Boyle of Chicopee. She was predeceased by four brothers and four sisters. Funeral services will be Thursday August 11 at 8:30am from the Brunelle Funeral Home, 811 Chicopee St., followed by a Liturgy of Christian Burial at 10am at Nativity of the Blessed Virgin Mary Church, both in Willimansett. Burial will be at the convenience of the family. A calling hour will precede the Mass beginning at 8:30am. WHITINSVILLE— Edward Rene St. Andre, a lifelong resident of Linwood died Mon. Aug. 8 at St. Camillus Health Center in Whitinsville after a lengthy illness. He was 78. He leaves his wife of 53 years, Alice (Bonin) St. Andre. Together they owned and operated St.’s Deli & Variety in Uxbridge from 1970 until his retirement in 2003. Mr. St. Andre served in the U.S. Army during World War II and he enjoyed fishing, hunting, playing cards, and trips to Foxwoods. Besides his wife he leaves a son David St. Andre and his wife Linda; 2 daughters Jean (St. Andre) Chisser and her husband Skip, and Joan St. Andre. He was predeceased by his son Michael and his brother Richard. He will be missed by his 6 grandchildren Tara Connor, Laurel, Lacie and Jesse St. Andre, and Lynne and Andrew Remillard, and his great-grandson Jacob Barber. He also leaves behind his sister Loretta Perkins and numerous nieces and nephews. Relatives and friends may call at the Tancrell-Jackman Funeral Home, 35 Snowling Rd., Uxbridge on Wed. DRACUT -- Victor J. Beaulieu, 76, a longtime Dracut resident who was a Korean War veteran, died Sunday, Aug. 7 at Lowell General Hospital. He was the husband of Theresa M. (Dauteuil) Beaulieu, and next month they would have celebrated their 49th wedding anniversary.He was born in Lowell on April 24, 1929, a son of the late Moise and Delia (Chausse) Beaulieu. He received his education in the Dracut school system.An honorably discharged veteran, Mr. Beaulieu served in the Army during the Korean War and during peacetime.Prior to his retirement, Mr. Beaulieu was employed for 16 years as a custodian at Greater Lowell Technical High School in Tyngsboro. Previously, he was employed for many years by Pawtucket Construction.In his free time, he enjoyed gardening and being outdoors.He was a communicant of Ste. Marguerite D'Youville Parish at St. Therese Church, in Dracut.In addition to his wife, he is survived by three sons and a daughter-in-law, Paul H. Beaulieu of Dracut, Jean C. and Barbara Beaulieu of Chelmsford, and Peter V. JENNINGS, Peter 1938 - 2005 Much loved husband of Kayce Freed, father to Elizabeth and Christopher Jennings, uncle to Tegan Schioler and brother to Sarah Jennings. Very peacefully, the evening of August 7, 2005, surrounded by family. Peter's many philanthropic efforts included the Coalition for the Homeless, Women in Need and Teach for America. He had broad interests in the arts, was a trustee of New York's Carnegie Hall and a founding director of the American wing of Friends of the National Arts Centre. Carl L. Boucher Sr., a Retired Architectural Draftsman, died peacefully at home after a brief illness on Thursday, July 28, 2005. Age 80 years. Ted is survived by his wife of 59 years, Rita Chieco Clairmont of Cohoes; two daughters, Linda Sears of Lansingburgh, Susan Clairmont Antoniak of Clifton Park; brother of Mrs. Marlyn (Joseph) Mosca of Rochester, N.Y., J. Donald Clairmont of Cohoes, William (Jean) Clairmont of Rotterdam and the late Arthur J.
