Clara Turchen February 03, 1927 - August 06, 2005 Funeral arrangements by Chapel Lawn Funeral Home It is with great sorrow that I announce the death of my dear mother, Clara Turchen peacefully on August 6, 2005 at the age of 78 after a prolonged illness. She was predeceased by her husband John on July 19, 2004; by her brother Henry and sisters Mary, Elizabeth, Ann, Lena and Katie. She is survived by her brother Alfie (Inga), son Barry (Gigi) and step-daughter Janice (Bob). Along with numerous nieces, nephews, grandsons, granddaughters and great grandsons and great granddaughters. Clara was born on a farm in Berlo, MB on February 3, 1927. Hard work and self reliance formed the basis of her life from her birth until the end of her life. She loved to spoil her family, friends and neighbours with her wonderful cooking and selfless caring for others. Her energy, sense of humour and wisdom were an example to all of us. Her kind heart and extended to all of her beloved pets in the neighbourhood and especially her dog “Miss T.” Her generous loving spirit will be missed by all of us who had the privilege of having our lives touched by her. Special thanks to all the nurses, physicians and support staff of 3E at Riverview Health Cenre for their wonderful compassion and care. In accordance with her wishes, a private memorial service will be held at a later date at her home.

Born in Great Village, she was a daughter of Stanley E. Rogers and Juanita M. (Tupper) Rogers. Her childhood homes included Bass River, Millstream and Oxford. She was a lifetime member of Fairview United Church and Ethel Patterson Group of the U.C.W. Emily was a veteran of the Second World War having served in the Royal Canadian Ordinance Corps as a financial clerk. Married in 1943, she leaves to mourn her husband, Hugh; daughters, Beverly (John) Low and Heather Terry, both of Lower Sackville; son, Harry (Mary) Ashcroft, Dartmouth; granddaughters, Rhonda (Stephen) Woodward, Leah and Janine Terry, Lower Sackville; Naomi Ashcroft, Dartmouth; grandsons, Dr. Darren (Sara) Low, Sydney River; Neil Terry, Lower Sackville, and Charlie Ashcroft, Dartmouth; great-granddaughter, Sally Woodward and great-grandson, Zevff Low; her brothers, Emerson, Sydney Forks; Douglas (Cicely), Oxford; Prescott (Mabel), Windsor; Nathan (Valerie), Hamilton, Ont., and Charles (Joan) Sharbot Lake, Ont.; also many nieces and nephews. Doris is survived by and will be greatly missed by her daughter Dr. Karen Doris Howell-McFadden and her husband Dr. Charles Posa McFadden of Gagetown, New Brunswick, her sister Aileen Hiller of Kitchener, daughter-in-law Judith Gustafsson of Ottawa, grandsons Sean McFadden of Halifax and Scott McFadden and his wife Lulsa of New York, New York, granddaughter Allison Howell of Ottawa and step-grandson Chris McPherson and his wife Martha and daughter Mollie of Ottawa, her niece Marilyn Hiller of Kitchener and nephew Tom Hiller and his wife Audrey of Edmonton. Doris with her husband Alex, owned and operated a poultry farm in St. George, Ontario for over 40 years. She was a registered practical nurse, a skilled craftsperson, and was actively involved in the United Church Women. At Doris' request cremation has taken place. CAVANAUGH, Sister Priscilla (Sister M. Jacinta) - It is with sorrow that The Sisters of St. Joseph of Sault Ste. Marie announce the death of Sister Priscilla Cavanaugh, on Sunday, August 7, 2005 in the Infirmary of St. Joseph's Motherhouse, North Bay, surrounded by her community and family. Born in Sudbury, Sister Priscilla entered The Sisters of St. Joseph of Sault Ste. Marie in 1959. Sister worked in the Business and Admitting Offices of Health Care Institute in Elliot Lake, Blind River, North Bay and Sudbury from 1960 - 1968. She also spent several years working in the office of Mount St. Joseph College in Sault Ste. Marie. Following this time, Priscilla was in charge of Housekeeping Services at St. Joseph's Motherhouse and later housekeeping, dietary and maintenance services at Avila Centre in Thunder Bay. She returned once again to St. Joseph's Motherhouse in 1994 where she ministered to our Senior Sisters up until her recent illness. Sister Priscilla was predeceased by her parents, George Cavanaugh and Irene Pelletier, sister Darlene Frenette and brother-in-law Raoul Frenette. She is survived by her brother George Cavanaugh, sister-in-law Teresa Cavanaugh and numerous nieces, nephews and cousins. Priscilla will be remembered as a gentle woman of faithfulness and profound service. The body of Sister Priscilla will be received at 2 p.m. Tuesday, August 9, 2005 in the Holy Family Chapel, St. Joseph's Motherhouse, North Bay. A private Vigil will be held at 7:30 p.m. Tuesday evening. Her Funeral Liturgy will be celebrated in Sacred Heart Chapel, St. Joseph's Motherhouse at 10 a.m. Wednesday, August 10, 2005. She was the beloved wife of Ken Mechefske of Trout Creek and the loving mother of the late Belinda Young (Cletus) of Oro Station, Bill Mechefske of Powassan, Jane Burns (Ivan Brown) of Powassan, Chris Mechefske (Lindy) of Kingston, Peter Mechefske (Bernice) and Andrew Lang (Dolly) all of Trout Creek. Marg was the much loved grandmother of 12 grandchildren and six great-grandchildren. She was the dear sister of Leonard Lang, Noreen Hummel, Barbara Mogridge and Jeannette Eckensviller all of Trout Creek. She was predeceased by her sister Edna Lang and by her brothers Clifford, Gordon, Edwin, Eldon and Bob Lang. MACKS, Anne (nee Ladyka) In loving memory of Anne (nee Ladyka) Macks, 89 years, of Sudbury, who passed away peacefully on Sunday, August 7th, 2005 at the Pioneer Manor with her loving family at her side. She was born in Port Arthur and married Rhodie Macks in 1934 in Sudbury. Anne came to the Sudbury area as a child. She was a well loved and respected community leader whose efforts helped many individuals and worthy causes. She worked in the family business Macks Company & Clothing for 50 years. She and her husband operated the store together since 1958 and she was the proprietor for several years after his death until she closed the store in 1986. Speaking several languages she embraced multiculturalism. Her contributions built a better Sudbury and stronger Canada. She was a life member of the Sudbury Hospital Auxiliary; a life member of the Association of United Ukrainian Canadians Branch #40, a charter member of Ladies Auxiliary of Mine Mill Union; a dedicated and active member of the Jubilee Center. She toured Canada with the Jubilee Bowling Team and shared her passion for music with the Jubilee Folk ensemble. An excellent cook she took great joy in hosting a Boxing Day Family dinner for many years. She had spent many happy times at the family cottage on Lake Penage. A "people person" she embraced life and lived it to the fullest. The light of Anne's life will always be a guide to her loving family and many friends on how to live well. CAVANAUGH, Sister Priscilla (Sister M. Jacinta) It is with great sorrow that The Sisters of St. Joseph of Sault Ste. Marie announce the death of Sister Priscilla Cavanaugh, on Sunday, August 7, 2005 in the Infirmary of St. Joseph's Motherhouse, North Bay, Ontario, surrounded by her community and family. Born in Sudbury, Ontario, Sister Priscilla entered The Sisters of St. Joseph of Sault Ste. Marie in 1959. Sister worked in the Business and Admitting Offices of Health Care Institutions in Elliot Lake, Blind River, North Bay and Sudbury from 1960 - 1968. She also spent several years working in the office of Mount St. Joseph College in Sault Ste. Marie. Following this time Priscilla was in charge of Housekeeping Services at St. Joseph's Motherhouse and later housekeeping, dietary and maintenance services at Avila Centre in Thunder Bay. She returned once again to St. Joseph's Motherhouse in 1994 where she ministered to our Senior Sisters up until her recent illness. Sister Priscilla was predeceased by her parents, George Cavanaugh and Irene Pelletier, sister Darlene Frenette and brother in law Raoul Frenette. She is survived by her brother George Cavanaugh, sister in law Teresa Cavanaugh and numerous nieces, nephews and cousins. Priscilla will be remembered as a gentle woman of faithfulness and profound service. The body of Sister Priscilla will be received at 2:00 p.m., Tuesday, August 09, 2005, in the Holy Family Chapel, St. Joseph's Motherhouse, North Bay. SOLTENDIECK, Hermann Friedemann (P. Eng.) It is with sadness and peace of heart that we announce the passing of Hermann Friedemann Soltendieck on Saturday, August 6th, 2005, after a lengthy, courageous and determined struggle with Parkinson's, always maintaining his dignity and hope. Hermann will be greatly missed by his family, Norma (nee Medina), his wife of 44 years, children, Heidi Carota (husband Lawrence, Donald Chow (predeceased), Tara Watson (husband Len), Anthony (partner Nancy-Lee), James (wife Joanne) and grandchildren Colton, Brenden, Avery, Brandon, Brianne, Alexis, Logan and Ryan. He will also be sadly missed by numerous sister and brother-in-laws, nieces and nephews, cousins and relatives both in Sudbury and abroad. Born in New York City to the late Franz and Hilda (nee Feucht) Soltendieck on February 4th, 1934, Hermann attended private boarding schools in Europe before returning to Montreal in 1952 where he completed his Canadian high school education at Sir George William High School. He went on to complete his Bachelor of Science degree at Loyola College (1958), finally graduating from McGill University in 1960 with a Bachelor of Engineering degree in Mine Engineering. In 1960 he began his career with Inco, retiring in 1991. Hermann was a patient and giving man who loved life. He was an ardent supporter of the arts and literature and numerous charities. Strong in his faith, he contributed endless hours of support to the former Lord of The World Parish. AKKANEN, Linda In loving memory of Linda Akkanen, 76 years, who passed away at the Sudbury Regional Hospital - Memorial Site on Friday, August 5, 2005. Loving mother of Robert Akkanen (wife Diane) of Copper Cliff. ADAMS -- Vincent E. Beaudin, 58, of 1 Harding Ave. died yesterday at North Adams Regional Hospital shortly after being admitted. Born in Adams on Sept. 16, 1946, son of Victor M. and Alma Tremblay Beaudin, he attended the former Notre Dame School and graduated from the former St. Joseph's High School in North Adams. He received his bachelor's degree in education from the former North Adams State College, now Massachusetts College of Liberal Arts, and his master's in education from Westfield State College. A math teacher, Mr. Beaudin worked for the Pittsfield Public Schools for 36 years, retiring from Taconic High School in 2004. He was a communicant of the Parish of Notre Dame-St. Thomas and volunteered at the Notre Dame bingo game. He enjoyed playing tennis. He and his wife, the former Stella M. Fournier, were married Nov. 18, 1972. Besides his wife, he leaves two daughters, Christina Kanelos of Adams and Amy Denette of Clarksburg; a brother, Victor G. Beaudin of Pittsfield, and a grandson. PLATTSBURGH — Minarva (Aubin) Thompson, 87, formerly of AuSable Forks, died Saturday, Aug. 6, 2005, at Clinton County Nursing Home in Plattsburgh.She was born in AuSable Forks on March 21, 1918, the daughter of George H. and Ella M. (Call) Aubin; Ella later married Wilfred Bola.Minarva graduated from AuSable Forks High School in 1935 and from business college in 1936. She worked at P.F. Collier Corp. in Albany until 1941 when her husband wanted to move to AuSable Forks. From that time she was a stay-at-home mom until 1960, when she accepted employment at the J&J Rogers Co., and was there until they closed in 1971. She then went to work for Pepsi Cola Bottling Co. of Keeseville and retired from there in 1983.After retiring, Minarva did a lot of volunteer work at the Holy Name lunch program, Holy Name bingo, and was a driver for RSVP and especially liked to crochet.Minarva married William J. Thompson from Rennselaer on Aug. 20, 1938, at St. Theresa’s Church on New Scotland Avenue in Albany.She is survived by three daughters and two sons-in-law, Sandra Laluz of Fallbrook, Calif., Marcia and Jerry Carron of Pattersonville, N.Y., and Nancy and Bruce L’hommedieu of Morrisonville; 12 grandchildren; nine great-grandchildren; two brothers and one sister-in-law, James and Grace Aubin of Wilmington, and Adrian Aubin of Ohio.She was predeceased by her husband, William J. BOUCHER -- Ray Boucher died Saturday, July 30, 2005 at his home in Albuquerque. SANFORD, Maine — Ruth Lehoux, 77, of Main Street, Sanford, died Saturday, Aug. 6, 2005, at Goodall Hospital, after a brief and courageous battle with cancer.She was born in Dixfield, Maine, on Oct. 5, 1927, a daughter of Osborne and Hazel Littlefield Burgess.She attended local schools and was a homemaker all of her life.She was a member of the Wells Senior Center and was a seamstress. She also enjoyed spending time with family and friends, going out to eat and shopping.She was predeceased by her husband, Rene Lehoux, who died in 1998; a son, Danny Lehoux, who died in 2003; and a grandson, Jody Lehoux Hartley, who also died in 2003.Surviving are her son, David, and his wife, Donna, of Sanford; two daughters, Julie Schmidt, and her husband, Michael, of Tyngsboro, Mass., and Becky Lehoux, also of Tyngsboro, Mass; a brother, Paul Burgess and his wife, Maria, of Woodbridge, Va.; three sisters, Dorothy Crosby of Mexico, Maine, Clara Burgess of Springvale, and Gloria Pillsbury and her husband, Wayne, of Shapleigh; seven grandchildren; seven great-grandchildren; a daughter-in-law, Gale Lehoux of Lebanon, Maine and her aunt, Eva Grant Nemetz of Sanford. A memorial service will be held at 11 a.m., Thursday, Aug. 11 at the Bibber Memorial Chapel, 111 Chapel Road in Wells. SOUTH BERWICK, Maine — Jason Alan Douglas Caouette, 16, of Wild Rose Lane in South Berwick, died on Saturday, Aug. 6, 2005, at Massachusetts General Hospital, following a tragic accident earlier in the week. He was born on Dec. 24, 1988, in York, Maine. He was the son of Greg A. Caouette and the late Anne Marie (Bunker) Caouette.He was a student at Marshwood High School in South Berwick, looking forward to his sophomore year. He enjoyed his time spent at school and the friends he spent that time with. He was a member of the student council and enjoyed membership in the school chorus. An avid out of doors enthusiast, he was most comfortable at camp, tenting, four wheeling and the like. However all of his out of doors activities were overshadowed by his enjoyment of fresh water fishing. Anyone who knew Jason, could attest to the hours he spent enjoying fishing. He also as many teenagers do, enjoyed Sony Play Station Two. He is survived by his loving family, his father, Greg Caouette of Key West, Fla.; his maternal grandparents with whom he lived, Doug Bunker and Rosalie Fronczack of South Berwick; his sister, Sarah Caouette of South Berwick and sisters, April and Autumn; his paternal grandparents, Ronald and Irene Caouette of Porter, Maine; uncle Robert Bunker of Eliot and aunt Amy Bunker of Florida; maternal great-grandparents, Mary Barrett- Kelly and her husband, Gerry, of Port Richie, Fls. and Maine; and several cousins. He was predeceased by his mother Anne Marie Caouette in 2002. A Mass of Christian burial will be celebrated on Thursday, Aug. 11 at 11 a.m. at St. Raphael Parish Church on Whipple Road in Kittery. Friends may visit with Jason's family on Wednesday evening from 6 p.m. to 8 p.m. at the J.S. Pelkey Funeral Home, 125 Old Post Road, Kittery, Maine. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in his memory to the Shriners Hospital for Children, Burn Unit 516, Carew Street, Springfield, MA 01104-2396. Arrangements are entrusted to the J.S. Dorothy M. Denneau, 75, Green Bay, passed away on Aug. 7, 2005, after a courageous battle with illness. Dorothy was born on May 13, 1930, to the late James and Barbara (Lindsley) Cornell. On June 5, 1948, she was married to Anthony Denneau and he preceded her in death on July 5, 1977. Dorothy enjoyed time with her children and grandchildren. She was always a giving person and at any time her home could be a second home to a number of her son’s friends. She was an avid football fan and especially loved to watch the Packers play. She also liked making candy, playing golf, bowling and playing cards.She will be sadly missed by her two sons, Michael Denneau, and John and Leslie Denneau and their children Aaron, Kyle and Zachary all of Green Bay; two sisters and one brother; Ione (Lawrence) Raleigh, James (Ruth) Cornell and Jane (Paul) Kyles as well as many nieces, nephews and other relatives and friends.She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband Anthony; two sisters and brother-in-law, Kathleen Spejcher and Carol (Carl) Young; mother-in-law and father-in-law Arthur and Katie Denneau and brother-in-law and sister-in-law Charles and Betty Denneau.Friends may call on Tuesday from 4 p.m. to 7 p.m. at Proko-Wall Funeral Home and Crematory, 1630 East Mason, 468-4111. Funeral Services at the funeral home at 7 p.m. with the Rev. Larry Canavera officiating. Rilda R. (Coulombe) Caruso, 78, of Newington died peacefully on Thursday, (August 4, 2005) at the home of her daughter and son-in-law. Born December 19, 1926, in Fort Kent, ME, she was the daughter of the late Edwin and Hedwidge (Daigle) Coulombe. She graduated from Weaver High School in 1945 and was employed by Aetna for 17 years. A Newington resident for 43 years, she was a member of St. Mary's Church. Prior to her retirement, she worked at G. Fox & Co. and Sage-Allen. Wife of the late Pasquale D. Caruso, she was the loving mother of Kathleen Caruso and her husband Noam Levine of Arlington, MA, Andrew Caruso and Susan McKenna of Syosset, NY, and Stephen Caruso of West Hartford. She was the cherished grandmother of Katelyn McKenna and Kristen McKenna. She is survived by two sisters Lillian Chasse of Hartford, Rella White of Wethersfield; two brothers Bernard Coulombe of Deltona, FL and J. Clarence Coulombe of Eagle Lake, ME. She was pre-deceased by a sister Elise Woschnik. She also leaves her dear companion Eugene Patno of Enfield. A memorial Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Saturday, August 13, 10 a.m., at St. Mary's Church, 626 Willard Ave., Newington. Burial will be in Mt. St. Benedict Cemetery, Bloomfield.
