Cecil Beresford Lewsey October 19, 1912 - May 11, 2005 Funeral arrangements by Chapel Lawn Funeral Home On Wednesday, May 11, 2005, at Fred Douglas Lodge, Cecil Lewsey passed away at the age of 92. Cecil was predeceased by his parents, Norman and Sarah Lewsey; brothers Lawrence and Clarence Lewsey; sisters Edna West and Laura Lewsey and nephew Dennis Lewsey. Our beloved Pops will be greatly missed and dearly remembered by his remaining family and friends; his daughter Cecilia (Wolf) Finck; grandchildren Melody Gordon and Jay Finck (along with his fiancée Bonita Cox); great-grandchildren Chanelle and Tyree Gordon; sisters Evelyne (Oliver) Gardner and Irene Dorrington; sister-in-law Ethel Lewsey; nephews Lorrie (Cindy) Lewsey, Norman (Ava) Lewsey; nieces Elaine (Doug) Reed, Faridat (Efa) Etoroma, Risé (Jack) Barrows and their families. Other family include Trudy Finck, Pete and Shirley Finck, Ralph and Gail Finck, Harold and Audrey Wodtke and families(including Cheryl See and Rick Gordon, both residing with their families in the United States). Close friends include Ray and Pat Dumontet and Marion Foulds. Cecil was born and raised in the Brooklands area of Winnipeg, on Gallagher Street, and lived in the North End before moving his family to California in the late 50s. Before retirement, he worked as a porter for the CNR in Canada and for a car dealership in California. Previously, in the depression years, he also pursued a professional boxing career that took him to various parts of the country. Pops will be remembered for his life’s interests, his passion for heath and fitness and his love of music, both which became strongly engrained in his character at an early age. He advocated physical exercise, proper nutrition and non-smoking to everyone he could. Throughout his years, he took every opportunity to exercise and be active, learning to downhill ski at the age of 60. Following his musical heart, he played the saxophone (and clarinet) and was a member of several bands in Winnipeg and California. He loved big band music. Our thanks to Michael, who had been Cecil’s home-care worker, and to Gerry, who had been his community foot care nurse. Also, special thanks and our heartfelt gratitude to all the staff that cared for Cecil on Elm Unit at Fred Douglas Lodge. And a thank-you to all staff and volunteers, who took the time to say hello and help Pops feel at home. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to a charity of choice, Fred Douglas Lodge or the Alzheimer Society of Manitoba. Cremation has taken place, as per Cecil’s request, and the immediate family will attend an urn-site ceremony at Chapel Lawn Memorial Gardens, 4000 Portage Ave, which will be followed by a celebration of Cecil’s life at a come-and-go reception at the same location. The reception is open to all who wish to attend on Saturday, May 21, from 12:30 p.m. to2:30 p.m.

Howard Hoy "Bo" Beaumont died Friday, August 5, 2005 in Fort Myers, FL. Bo was born January 4, 1933 in Indianapolis. He graduated from Arsenal Technical High School and served in the U.S. Air Force. He was a GMC Truck dealer in Muncie, IN. Although he lived in several different locations his heart was always tied to Lake Shafer. Danny McNabb January 28, 1982 - July 31, 2005 Funeral arrangements by Jenkens Funeral Home Cremation and Reception Centre Danny passed away accidentally but peacefully in his new hometown of Victoria B.C. on July 31st, 2005. Danny was born in Thunder Bay, Ontario on January 28, 1982. Dan was the unofficial spokesperson for the less fortunate. He was also their defender, using his biting wit or his even more biting fists to make sure no one took advantage of them. Danny’s range of gifts was remarkable. He was a talented singer and music writer for a number of bands. He could play piano (winning 1st place at the Thunder Bay Music Festival when he was just 7 years old), and the guitar (self taught). He was the backup musician for his sister Nancy when she sang. He was truly an eccentric genius, winning every game he played and able to converse and interact on a peer level with everyone from a street crack addict to Victoria City Councilors. He could watch a TV show or even a movie and then months later be able to recite all the actors lines exactly for the entire show. He was an accomplished writer and speaker-able to move entire audiences of lawyers, doctors and professors to actual tears with his speeches about the plight of the homeless. He had people begging to buy his drawings and famous writers wanting him to come and write with them. He even had invitations from international book publishers to submit full books after reading his short stories, submitted by published writer friends of his. He had a rocket fast wit which he inherited from his Grandpa Gordon-seldom, if ever, losing a debate because he could remember every word his opponent ever said. Danny was high-spirited, determined and compassionate. He was big and strong in many ways; if he pushed it, it moved, be it a fridge or Victoria City Council. Danny loved his work as a street outreach councilor, priding himself on “layin into the mayor” on behalf of someone else. He even did his job for nine months without pay when funding was cut off (he took on a full time cooking job at night and on weekends to pay the bills.) Danny was a serious martial arts student, spending countless hours perfecting his skills. It was a common occurrence for people to call him to the water front in Victoria to play and sing for them, eventually drawing large crowds who requested his own original music and lyrics over and over and over again to the point where they would all know the words and sing along with him. Danny had the innate ability to cheer anyone up and even make them laugh. He often kept his friends in hysterics for hours with his antics: singing, dancing and reciting lines from any movie they could name with uncanny impressions of actors. Danny was affectionately known to his street “family” as Beercandan”. He had a million sayings to make people laugh including “see all these smilin’ faces, you want ‘em to go home with a frown?”, “To all my frieeeends!”, “Here, check out my pipes”, “I think I can finally take on my old man now”, and “you’re nothin’ but a big pile of clown shoes!” Danny affected the lives of so many for the better. His circle of friends was immense, as evidence by the huge and loyal group of people that immediately surrounded his sister Nancy, and girlfriend Amanda after his passing. They literally came from all across Canada and stayed with them day and night for four days without leaving-even for workwhile Nancy and Amanda prepared to return to Thunder Bay. The outpouring of grief and sadness was absolutely astounding. Emails continue to pour in. His enthusiasm and spirit will forever continue to inspire all those who met him. He will be missed tremendously. Danny spent the first years of his life living in Upsala, Ontario (which he often referred to as the best years of his life), then moving to Thunder Bay where he lived with his family until he discovered traveling, finally making his new home in Victoria, B.C. He planned to one day move to Ireland to continue his career as an outreach councilor. Dan will be forever loved and missed by his sister and best friend Nancy, brother Michael, his girlfriend of 8 years Amanda Prunskus, his mother Deborah (Bobby) Burch, his father Mike (Cathy) McNabb, his grandparents, Irma Armstrong and Doreen and Gordon McNabb, as well as numerous aunts, uncles, cousins, many friends and his Victoria family. Danny was predeceased by his great grandmother Anne Bowers and his grandfather Jim Armstrong. Visitation is at Jenkens Funeral Home on Sunday, August 7, from 6-8 P.M. WATERVILLE -- Gail M. Quirion, age 70, died August 4, 2005 at the Lakewood Continuing Care Center in Waterville with her family by her side. She was born in Waterville on Jan. 20, 1935. She was the daughter of George and Lura Ann (Dickey) Fish. Gail was educated in the schools of Winslow. She was married to Verdun Lint from 1955 to 1967. She then married Donald J. Quirion Sr. in 1972 in Waterville and he died June 15, 2005. Gail was a homemaker most of her life and worked part time as a Home Health Aide in the surrounding communities. She loved sewing, knitting, crocheting, arts and crafts, and working in her flower garden. She is survived by four sons, Mark Lint and wife Brenda of Winslow, Peter Lint of Sidney, George Lint of Winslow and Donald Quirion Jr. of Exeter; four daughters, Lucy Gaither and husband Charles of Nashville, Georgia, Loretta Tirrell and husband Richard of Bath, Rebekah Lint of Waterford, Conn., and Susan Lint of Glenburnie, Maryland; four step-sons, Paul Quirion and wife Yania of Fairfield, Richard Quirion and wife Kim of Fairfield, Michael Quirion and wife Yvonne of Thorndike, and Gary Quirion and wife Raeann of Cornville; two step-daughters, Jean Mathiew and husband Gary of Winslow, Donna Higgins and husband Larry of Exeter; sister, Hilda Seeley and husband Roland of Benton, many grandchildren and great-grandchildren, several nieces, nephews and cousins, including special cousin Shireen Priest of Fairfield. She is survived by two sons Robert Boucher of Glendora, CA, Alfred Boucher of Bellingham, three daughters Orise Fontaine of Florence AL, Annette Shipley of Green River WY, and Claudette Drainville of Wakefield, a sister Rita Chapdelaine of Woonsocket, twenty five grandchildren and thirty five great grandchildren. She was also the mother of the late Paulette Masse, and sister of the late Clara Belliveau. Her funeral will be held Tuesday at 9:00 from the Fournier & Fournier Funeral Home 463 South Main St. Woonsocket with a Mass of Christian Burial at 10:30 in St. Agatha’s Church, Joffre St. Woonsocket. LAMPOLE, Reta W. 1920 - 2005 It is with deep sadness and peaceful acceptance that the family of Reta Lampole (nee Linttell ) announce her passing on August 6 at the age of 85. She was predeceased 6 short weeks ago by Fred, her husband of 61 years. She will be forever missed by her three sons Brian (Vicky) of Toronto, Larry (Karen) of Kanata and Bill (Cathy) of Newmarket. She also leaves her two dear grandsons, Jeff and David. She was predeceased by her sister Ila Cohick of Wellsboro, Pennsylvania and her brothers E.A. (Bud), Eldon and Eric of Ottawa. Reta was a member of the Eastern Star for over 59 years. Over the past 6 years, she was a resident of The Grove Nursing Home where she passed away. Her passion was her family; her sons and their families have been blessed by the values she lived by. She always went that extra-mile for both her family and her community. Hers truly was a life well-lived. Mr. Ivan Francis Holmes November 21, 1929 - August 05, 2005 Funeral arrangements by Jenkens Funeral Home Cremation and Reception Centre Mr. Ivan Francis Holmes, born on November 21,1929, in Port Arthur Ontario, passed away peacefully in his sleep in the early morning hours of August 5, 2005, with his family by his side. Ivan was a gentle, caring, optimistic man devoted to his family, always willing to lend a helping hand and be supportive. One of his proudest moments was attending the Air Cadet Wings Parade out West when both of his grandsons received their Pilot and Glider Wings. Ivan retired from Saskatchewan Wheat Pool Elevator as a millwright after over 30 years of service. In winter months he enjoyed watching Leafs Hockey in addition to attending his grandsons hockey games. Summer months would find him puttering in his garden or watching the Blue Jays on television. Survived by his wife June of 49 years, daughters Karen (Eric Korhonen) and Doreen, grandsons Devin and Brendon, brother Vernard (Vivian) and sister Bernice Liddicoat. Predeceased by his parents Ethel and Joseph Holmes and brother-in-law Wilbert Liddicoat. As per Ivan’s wishes, cremation has taken place and a private interment will be held. GARLICK, Margaret Isabel (Peggy). August 28, 1913 - August 5, 2005. Peacefully at Villa Marguerite, Ottawa, in her ninety-second year. Beloved sister of the late Edythe Fowler and the late Kenneth Garlick. Peggy graduated from McGill University Faculty of Science in 1935 and started a thirty-eight year career as a chemistry teacher at the High School of Montreal.
