WATERFORD, NY -- Elizabeth Betty Brisson, 83, of Valley View Ave., died Thursday, June 23, 2005 at Samaritan Hospital. Born and educated in Troy she was the daughter of the late Russell and Bessie Reynolds Carpenter. In her earlier years, Betty was employed at the Swanknit Co. in Cohoes and retired in 1959. She met her husband Raymond L. Brisson, who survives, in 1941. After World War II in February of 1946, they were both employed at the Mohawk Paper Mill and married two months later in April of 1946. Since that time, Ray has remarked to her daily that she was as beautiful as the day they met. Betty was an avid golfer and loved to sew. She made many of her own clothes. In addition to her husband, she is survived by several nieces and nephews. Funeral services will be Monday at 9 a.m. from the Philip J. Brendese Funeral Home, 133 Broad St. (Rt. 32), Waterford and at 9:30 a.m. at St. Mary of the Assumption Church, Waterford. Interment will be in St. Joseph's Cemetery, Waterford. Relatives and friends may call at the funeral home Sunday 4-8 p.m. Memorial contributions may be made to the Waterford Rescue Squad in care of the funeral home office. SPRINGFIELD - Evelyn Ruth (Dow) Foisy, 85, of Springfield, passed away Wednesday, June 22, at Mercy Medical Center. Born in Holton, Maine, she resided in Springfield most of her life. Evelyn was a cashier for several years with the Springfield School System Lunch Department, working at The High School of Commerce and later at Kennedy Junior High School. She was a member of the Homer Street P.T.O., Holy Family Catholic Women's Club, and the Democratic Women's Club in Springfield. Evelyn was the wife of the late Louis Foisy. She is survived by her daughter, Janice E. Gethins and her husband, Joseph of Springfield; her grandson, Gregory Gethins, and her granddaughter, Gail Gethins both of Springfield; (3) sisters, Glenna Rich of California, Leona Hill of New Hampshire, and Leveta Kilcollins of Canada. Her funeral service will be Monday at 3 p.m. in Byron Funeral Home, 1858 Allen St., Springfield. Burial will be at the convenience of the family. LACONIA — Judith Ann Maheu, 64, of 37 Fairmont Street died on Wednesday evening, June 22, 2005 at her home after a courageous battle with cancer. She was the daughter of the late Harold W. and Mary E. (Rancourt) Baker. She was born in Conway on June 24, 1940, and had been a resident of Laconia for most of her life. She was a Registered Nurse at Lakes Region General Hospital for many years working in the Labor and Delivery Room. Along with her husband Roland L. Maheu she was a partner in the Maheu Insurance Company here in Laconia.She was a communicant of Our lady of the Lakes Church in Lakeport. She was also an active member of Lakeport Community Association. She is survived by her husband of 38 years, Roland L. Maheu of Laconia, two sons, Gary A. Maheu of Laconia, and David H. Maheu of Longmont, Colo.; One daughter, Victoria L. Ashley and her husband, of Raleigh, N.C.; One brother, John N. Baker and his wife Erly of Belmont; One sister, Jeri Lou Poirrier and her husband Roger, "Pete" of Laconia; two grandchildren, Alexander W., and Mary Elizabeth Ashley, both of Raleigh, N.C. She is also survived by her mother-in-law, Elizabeth M. Lionel H. "Nell" Gadbois -- June 15, 1937 -- June 23, 2005 -- NORWICH -- Lionel H. "Nell" Gadbois 68, of 136 Hunters Rd., died early Thursday morning at his home. He was born in Norwich on June 15, 1937 the son of Simone (Phaneuf) Gadbois Kilcollum of Norwich and the late Hector Gadbois. Nell retired many years ago due to ill health. He was a communicant of Sacred Heart Church in Taftville. He served in the U.S. Marine Corps. Nell was a life member of the Norwich Lodge of Elks #430, was an avid Red Sox fan and Navigator fan. On April 7, 1956 he married Johana (Orsini) Gadbois at the Cathedral of ST. Patrick in Norwich who survives him. Besides his wife and mother he is survived by his step father, James Kilcollum of Norwich. One daughter, Carol Ann McKeag and her husband John of Norwich. His grandchildren who he loved so much Kara and Matthew McKeag. One brother, Lawrence Gadbois of Senatobia, Mississippi, and numerous nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by one sister, Doris Cote. MARTIN: Cleason “Mart” - 79 years of Naughton, passed away Tuesday evening, June 21st, 2005 at the SRH-Laurentian Site. He was born in St. Jacob’s, Ontario and married Freda (MacDonald) in Sudbury in 1954. Before coming to Sudbury in 1952, he was with Morrison & Knutson driving a tunnel through the mountain in Kitamat, B.C. He worked for INCO as a smelterman for 34 years, retiring in 1985. He enjoyed boating and fishing especially on Manitoulin Island. Will be sadly missed by his wife Freda of Naughton, his 3 sons Alan (wife Janet Beres) of Lively, Gerald (wife Laurie McCanless) of Ottawa and Robert of Naughton. Grandfather to 3 dear grandchildren Wynn and Korby both of Ottawa and Amanda of Lively. Dear brother of Eleanor Metzger (husband Abner) of Elmira, Edna Bauman (husband Mervin) of Drayton, Emanuel (wife Joan deceased) of Elmira and Leroy (wife Donna) of Alberta. Madeline F. Bernard, 87, of Manchester, NH, died June 23, 2005, at Elliot Hospital, after a period of failing health. Born in Manchester, NH on June 18, 1918, she was the daughter of Patrick and Ellen (O’Connor) McCarthy. She was a lifelong resident of the city. Before her retirement, Mrs. Bernard was a skein winder with Pandora Industries for many years. She was a longtime communicant of Saint Anne Church. Mrs. Bernard will be remembered as a loving and devoted, wife, mother and grandmother. She enjoyed reading. She was married to Arthur Bernard who died September 3, 1989. He was born in Waterford, 1909, son of the late Joseph and Melinda (Riel) Allard.Norman was deeply religious and a member of St. Peter's Church in Plattsburgh; he formerly lived on Champlain Street and was employed by Georgia Pacific Paper Mill in Plattsburgh, retiring in 1971 after 38 years of service. He was one of the last Champlain Canal Boatman, being born on the canal boat T.M. Leonard in Waterford, N.Y. He had resided in Willsboro, Florida and Texas, returning to Plattsburgh in 2000. Norman enjoyed woodworking and continued into his 90s.Norman is survived by four children, William and Joan Allard of Willsboro and Cape Cod, Raymond and Shirley Allard of Willsboro, Robert and Taunia Allard of Plattsburgh and James and Donna Allard of Plattsburgh; many grandchildren; and many great-grandchildren.Calling hours were held Thursday evening from 7 to 9 p.m. at Brown Funeral Home in Plattsburgh. A Mass of Christian burial will be celebrated Friday, June 24, at 9 a.m. from St. Peter's Church in Plattsburgh. Burial will follow in St. Mary's Cemetery in Champlain next to his beloved wife, Beatrice, who he had deeply missed since her death.

Madeleine was born in Winnipeg on August 25th, 1923, where she resided all her life. Madeleine was predeceased by her parents Eugene and Marie Reine LeNabat, and sister Marie. She is lovingly remembered by her sisters Cecile (Adrien) Bernard of Nanaimo, and Helene (Marcien) Lemay; nieces Gisele (Terry)Hampson; Paulette Bernard; nephews Claude (Rhonda) Lemay; and Robert Lemay; grand niece, Michele (Bob) Lower; three grand nephews, Kevin (Stephanie) Hampson; David Hampson and Gabriel Delisle; great grand niece Shayla and great grand nephew Cole. Madeleine was a kind-hearted, loving and generous person, who cared for her aging parents and ill sister. She always gave generously to many charitable foundations. She was employed by the unemployment insurance commission for many years and retired in 1974. Madeleine then gave her time volunteering at St-Amant Centre, the St-Boniface Hospital and Dugald School Library. She loved babysitting her nieces and nephews, and then after retirement her great niece and nephews. Madeleine had a passion for reading, and loved getting together with her friends for cards and bingo. Madeleine looked forward to all our family get togethers and we all enjoyed her good humour and kindness. Over the years Madeleine spend many good times with her sister Helene and her family at Lac du Bonnet Lake. Madeleine had a heart of gold and will be greatly missed. We are deeply grateful to the staff of Park Manor Personal Care Home for their compassionate treatment and kindness toward Madeleine and the family throughout her time there. Maureen (Senesac) Forrest, born November 22, 1962, in Hartford, died peacefully with her family by her side, on Tuesday (June 21, 2005) after a long illness. Formerly in Plainville, Maureen resided with her beloved husband, Donald Penn Forrest, in Bridgeport for the past 15 years. She loved animals, and doted on her dog, Prince, and her cat, Trouble. She also enjoyed the outdoors and the beach. With a sassy sense of humor, her poems reflected her unique personality. Predeceased by her father, Francis Edward Senesac, Jr. Maureen is survived by her husband, Donald Penn Forrest of Bridgeport; her mother, Faye Simpson of Kennebunk, ME; a sister, Jill Senesac Maier of Plainville; maternal grandmother, Ceil Simpson of Cape Elizabeth, ME; her Godmother and aunt, Charlotte Simpson of Kennebunk; a nephew, Wolfgang Maier; and a niece, Heather Maier of Plainville; several aunts, uncles, and cousins. WESTBROOK - Claire Lemieux, 93, formerly of Brown Street, died Thursday, June 23, 2005 at the St. Joseph Manor.She was born in Westbrook the daughter of Wilfred and Delia Gagnon Lemieux. She was raised, educated and lived all of her life in Westbrook.Claire had been employed by the S.D. Warren Co. for over 42 years. Doris M. Poulin, 82, of Westhampton, MA died Monday surrounded by her family at her home. Born in Greenfield, May 20, 1923, she was the daughter of the late Evlyn and Mabel (Burditt) Hathaway. She grew up in Hampshire County and had lived in this area most of her life. She had worked in a bakery in Worcester, in Northampton in the Head Start Program and for the former Northampton State Hospital as a Dietary Worker. Doris enjoyed crafts, collecting seashells from which she made seashell arrangements, and also enjoyed fishing and hunting. She moved to Westhampton in 2000, having resided in Tice, Florida for several years during the 1980's and 1990's. She is survived by four sons, Kenneth Stevens of Westhampton, Ronald Stevens of Florence, David Stevens of Westfield and Mark Stevens of Southampton; a daughter, Donna Bishop of Springfield, KY; a brother, Donald Hathaway of Port St. Lucie, FL; a sister, Ruth McDonough of Sturbridge, MA; nine grandchildren and nineteen great-grandchildren. Doris was predeceased by two brothers, Ralph Hathaway, Sr. and Frank Hathaway; a sister, Helen Loven and a granddaughter, Tina Bishop.The funeral will be at the Pease and Gay Funeral Home, 425 Prospect St., Northampton on Friday at 10 AM with burial to follow. Calling hours are Thursday from 5 PM to 8 PM. Nancy D. Chouinard Baker, 78, of Bristol, beloved wife of Edward P. Baker, and widow of Arthur A. Chouinard, died Thursday (June 23, 2005) at Bristol Hospital. She was born May 13, 1927 in New Britain, daughter of the late James and Anna (Reynolds) Degnan. Nancy was a graduate of the New Britain Senior High School in 1945 and the New Britain General Hospital School of Nursing in 1948. A resident of Bristol most of her life, she was an operating room and endoscopy nurse at the Bristol Hospital, having retired after 31 years of service. She was a member of the New Britain General Hospital School of Nursing Alumni Association and St. Patrick Church in Farmington. Besides her husband, Edward, she is survived by two daughters and their husbands, Geralyn and Roger Fink, Michele and Bruce Regensburger; two grandchildren, Kevin Beloin and Bryan Chouinard; two step-sons and their wives, Michael and Lucia Baker and their daughter, Eleni, Rick and Rena Baker and their children, Sarah and Iain; a step-daughter and her husband, Nancy and Tony Salvatore and their children, Elizabeth and Michael; a sister-in-law and brother-in-law, Betty and Sam Snetro; two dear friends, Roger and Beverly Arel and their children. She will also be missed by her nieces and nephews, David, Kathleen and Christopher Rusch, Denise Mulroy, Deborah Pantaleo and David Snetro and their families. John B. Carrier, 92, Surprise, Arizona, passed away June 20, 2005. Services will be held at a later date. Born in Kingman, Kansas, on May 19, 1913, John received his Bachelor's degree from Wichita State and his Master's Degree in Geology from the University of Iowa. He worked as a geologist in Wyoming for over 35 years. He was employed by both Superior and Champlain oil companies in Casper, Wyoming, then did consulting work as an independent geologist for the majority of his career. John enjoyed sculpting and painting and was an avid back-packer and fisherman. He traveled throughout the world and lived for a year in the Canary Islands off the coast of Spain during a job in the Sahara Desert. He is preceded in death by his first wife, Orlena (Sammy) Carrier in 1962. In 1974 he married Estelle Stacy Carrier of Douglas Wyoming, who passed away in 1994. His survivors include his wife, Maxine Carrier of Surprise; her daughter, Susan Young, of Sun City, Arizona; his sons, Chris Carrier and Jeff Carrier; his daughter, Janet Penland, and three grandchildren; Sarah Penland, AdriAnne and John Carrier. ABINGTON -- Jean Caya Bancroft, 70, of Abington died at home Wednesday, June 22, 2005. She was the companion of Colin F. MacKinnon. Born in Fall River, she was the daughter of the late George and Anna Louise (Keavy) Caya. She graduated from Mount St. Mary Academy and was a cum laude graduate of Salve Regina University in sociology and education. She did postgraduate work and in-service training in business and human behavior. She was the national president of Kappa Gamma Pi. She was a well-known television and radio personality. She hosted radio shows in New Bedford, Lowell, Fall River and Boston, and appeared on television on the Boston area stations and local cable stations. Ms. Caya Bancroft owned Wordwright Productions in Abington. She was a handwriting expert and an author. She was commander of Coast Guard Flotilla 618 of Westport. In 2003, she received a letter of commendation from the Coast Guard commandant for service to the community. She was one of the first recipients of a newly minted coin for the Coast Guard station at Woods Hole. She was a former director of field services for the Plymouth Bay Girl Scout Council. She received a proclamation from the Massachusetts Senate, recognizing her as a significant person in Massachusetts history. She received the Business Women Golden Citation and was Woman of the Year for the Fairhaven and New Bedford area. Ms. Caya Bancroft was listed in Who's Who in many areas, including the International Who's Who of Professionals and Who's Who in Media and Communications. Survivors include her companion; and several nieces, nephews, aunts, uncles and cousins. She was the sister of the late Patricia Randolph. Her funeral will be at 10 a.m. Saturday at Waring-Sullivan Home of Memorial Tribute at Cherry Place, 178 Winter St., Fall River. Burial will be private.
