Sigurd Svendsen 1911 - 2005 À l’Hôpital Général de Grand-Sault, le vendredi 20 mai 2005, à l’âge de 93 ans, est décédé Sigurd Svendsen, époux de feu Beatrice Marion Sorensen, domicilié à New Denmark. Né au Danemark en 1911, il était fils de feu Neils Christian Svendsen et de feu Bi Andersen. Il laisse dans le deuil un fils, Lloyd (Sharon) de Fredericton, trois filles, Nathalie Copp de Tottenham, Ontario, Alice Hansen et Carol Hendricksen (Kevin) de New Denmark, neuf petits-enfants, sept arrière-petits-enfants, un frère, Mogens 'Mart' de London, Ontario, belle-soeur, May Higson de Barefoot Bay, Floride, ainsi que des neveux et nièces. Il a été précédé par deux gendres, Stanley Copp et A. Paul Hansen. La dépouille mortelle sera exposée en l’église anglicane St. Ansgar’s de New Denmark, d’où ses funérailles auront lieu le lundi 23 mai à 14h, suivi de l’inhumation au cimetière paroissial. Les heures des visites le dimanche auront lieu de 14h à 16h, et de 19h à 21h. Pour ceux qui le désirent, on demande de faire un don au fonds de bâtiment de l’église St. Ansgar’s. LUNDY, Benjamin Frank - Passed away at Valley Park Lodge on Tuesday May 17, 2005. Mr. Lundy would have celebrated his 80th birthday on May 21st. Beloved husband of the late Marion Lundy (1985). Dearly loved father of Timothy (Karen) Lundy of Toronto, Thomas (Janice) Lundy, John (Lynn) Lundy and Rick (Carol) Lundy, all of Niagara Falls. Lovingly remembered by his grandchildren Sarah, Leah, Michael, Jarrod, Matthew, Kurt, Kris, Kelly, Kristy and Katie and by his seven great-grandchildren. PARKES, Tim "Parksey" - It is with great sadness, that the family of Tim Parkes "Parksey" annouces that he has lost his courageous struggle. Tim passed away peacefully at the Hamilton General Hospital on Thursday May 19th, in his 51st year. Loving husband and best friend of Marina (nee Maulucci). Cherished father of Trevor Parkes, Tammy (Jim Barrett) Parkes Kelly (Michael) Lewis. Proud grandfather of Max and Maddie. Sadly missed by sisters, Gail Wallace and Becky Sagriff, brother Garry (Murt) Parkes, father in law John (Nora) Maulucci, brothers in law, John (Kathleen) and Lou (Gail), many nieces and nephews. Predeceased by his mother, Thelma, mother in law Maria Maulucci and his sister Judith. Parksey's presence at the Fort Erie Golf Club amongst his many friends and his ectended family, the Gibsons, will never be forgotten. BOGUSAT, Edna (nee Goettling), God has seen fit to call home our dear mother, Edna Bogusat, May 19, 2005 in her 92nd year at Heritage Place, Virgil. She is survived by her children Ruth (Victor) Opresnik, Walter (Alice) Bogusat, Howard (Lorraine) Bo gusat and Gloria (Kurt) Meyer, grandchildren Christine (Kevin) Fergin, David (Sandi) Opresnik, Brian Bogusat, Joanne (Craig) Laurie, Adam Meyer and Jason Meyer, and three great-grandchildren Rachel, Jordan and Maxwell. Predeceased in 1985 by her husb and Max and also by one sister and three brothers. She is survived by one brother-in-law Alvin Duench. Edna was born in New Dundee, ON on July 28, 1913. She married Max Bogusat November 28, 1936. Together they moved to a farm in Niagara-on-the-Lake i n 1938 and then to Virgil in 1950 when her husband Max founded M.B. Foods. Edna was a charter member of Trinity Lutheran Church in Niagara-on-the-Lake where she played the organ for over 28 years. She made many quilts for Lutheran World Relief and of course for all her children and grandchildren. Edna was a long term member of the Horticulture Society, winning many flower arranging awards. DEWAR, Mary Archer (nee Fowlds) - Mary Dewar, a daughter of the late Walter Millburne Fowlds and Mary Alice Archer of Hastings, Ontario, died peacefully at home in Oakville, Ontario, on May 14, 2005, in her 95th year. She was predeceased by her beloved husband of 55 years, David Marshall (Skin) Dewar; by her brother, Harry Fowlds; and by her sister, Isabel van de Griendt of California. She was the dear mother of Marci (Jim Edwards) of Toronto and Midge (Michael DesRoches) of Oakville; loved grandmother of Tracy Edwards (Jeff Hall), Kate Edwards (Graham Leishman), and Will and Christie DesRoches; and great-grandmother of Marshall and Annie Leishman. She was a graduate of Havergal College and the University of Toronto. A family service and cremation have taken place. SHANNON, Helen (Hendrikje) - (November 16, 1947- May 18, 2005) - Our family, in deepest sadness, announces the passing of Helen (nee Nydam) to our Lord, at 3:10 p.m., May 18, 2005. We are thankful that after a courageous battle with cancer, her final day was peaceful and she was surrounded by her family. Husband John, daughters Mel and Regina, son-in-law Kyle, granddaughter Rachel, brothers, sisters, mother, in-laws and many, many friends will always remember her strong heart. A devout Christian who participated fully in the worship of our Lord and Saviour, she lived her life with zeal for others. She dedicated herself to her immediate and extended family, as well as her church community. She also touched the lives of many students, parents and colleagues during over 30 years of service in the teaching profession. THOMPSON, Arthur Richard "Art" - Peacefully on Thursday, May 19, 2005 in his 87th year. Beloved husband of Peggy (nee Lacey) for almost 60 years. Gentle and caring father of Jane and her husband Derrill Gallant of Mississauga. Dear brother of Frank and his wife Alice of Peterborough. W.A. (Bill) LOWES Mr. W.A. (Bill) Lowes, 80, passed away peacefully in the hospital with family at his side on Wednesday, May 18, 2005. Bill was born in Dauphin, Man. on April 18, 1925. He joined the Royal Canadian Air Force and served overseas in World War II. He later was employed by the Canadian National Railroad for 36 years. After he retired, he worked part-time for the Fort Frances Jail for five years. Bill enjoyed travelling after he retired. His most treasured times were spent at the cabin and in his boat at Morson on Lake of the Woods. Bill also was a proud member of the Royal Canadian Legion for 57 years. He volunteered his services with Poppy Day and delivered numerous poinsettias over the holidays. Bill was predeceased by his parents, Archie and Phyllis; and son, James. Bill is survived by his wife, Ruth, of 49 years; son, Bruce (Margaret) Lowes of Fort Frances, Ont; daughter, Helen (Bruce) Williams of Kenora, Ont; grandson, Brad, and granddaughter, Erin Williams (Best Buddy); and great-granddaughter, Emily Sisco Lowes. A memorial service will be held Saturday, May 21, 2005 at 1 p.m. at Green Funeral Home in Fort Frances, with Fr. Wayne McIntosh officiating. Interment will take place in Riverview Cemetery in Fort Frances at a later date. Honourary pallbearers will be Bert Smeeth, Mel Lindsell, Stan Wolanicki, Eddie Campbell, and Cal Williamson. Sokolowski, (Leja) Stella - A most remarkable woman who passed away peacefully on Monday, May 16, 2005 with her children at her side. Beloved wife of the late Jan Sokolowski. She will be sadly missed by her children Christine (Douglas) Harvey and Robert (Theresa) Sokolowski ; her grandsons Andrew Harvey, Robert, Jonathan and Stephen Sokolowski and her great-grandsons Damian and Joseph Harvey. Her sense of humour, love of gardening and the outdoors and her joy of cooking for everyone will always be remembered. She was a devout Roman Catholic who was a member of St. Andrew the Apostle Parish. Mrs. Levesque was a longtime resident of Nashua. She had been employed by Sprague Electric for 25 years prior to her retirement. Mrs. Levesque was a communicant of St. Louis de Gonzague Church. Irene A. "Angie" Chase, 84 of Londonderry, died May 17, 2005, in Maple Leaf Healthcare Center, Manchester. Mrs. Chase was born in Derry on March 18, 1921, a daughter of the late Archie and Yvonne (Gamache) LaPorte. She was a resident of Londonderry for most of her life. Mrs. Chase was a homemaker and enjoyed knitting afghans, crocheting, sewing and making pocketbooks, as well as gardening and canning. She loved to help pick grapes at her husband's vineyard, Flag Hill Winery and Distillery, and enjoyed fishing with her husband. She also enjoyed listening to citizen's band and ham radios; her radio handle was "Possum." Mrs. Chase was a communicant of St. Thomas Aquinas Church, Derry. She is survived by her husband of 64 years, Calvin C. Chase Sr. of Londonderry; a son, Calvin Chase Jr. and his wife, Linda, of Dunstable, Mass.; three grandsons, Alan Chase and his wife, Nicole, of Dunstable, William Chase and his wife, Victoria, of Dunstable, Timothy Chase and his wife, Andrea, of Chelmsford, Mass.;a great-grandchild, Tristan James Chase of Dunstable; a sister, Imelda LeBlanc of Derry; a brother, Edmund LaPorte of Derry; and many nieces and nephews. Mary Mabel Edna Ernestine Legendre Cantrell was born on December 9, 1904 in Donaldsonville, LA and died May 19, 2005 at the age of 100. Her parents were August and Cecile Legendre. Mabel lived on a plantation in Donaldsonville until the age of 5 when her family moved to Kenner, where she has lived all of her life. She married Salvadore Samuel Cantrell now deceased and is the mother of two children, John Samuel Cantrell of River Ridge now deceased and Robert Hollingsworth Cantrell of Tehachapi, California. Grandmother of Beth Kuhnau, Richard Cantrell, Johnell Elmer, John Cantrell, Jr., Jan Parrott, Steven Cantrell, Tricia Beauvais and Susan Monreal. Also survived by 10 great grandchildren, devoted Godchild Elaine George and many nieces and nephews. Throughout her life she has received numerous awards from the City of Kenner and Jefferson Parish in recognition of unselfish and meritious service for her dedication in volunteering. Mabel was Kenner's oldest living resident. She reigned as Sweetheart Queen one year while residing at Westminister Towers and was a member of the ''Westminister Tower Clowns'', dedicating her time to entertaining residents and visiting nursing homes, volunteering over 2,500 hours. She also dedicated her life many years working with the Altar Society at Our Lady of Perpetual Help Church in Kenner. Relatives and friends of the family are invited to attend the Funeral Mass at THARP SONTHEIMER THARP FUNERAL HOME, 1600 N. Causeway on Saturday, May 21, 2005 at 12:00 Noon. She married James Russell Johnstone on June 23, 1941. Mrs. Johnstone was an active member of Holy Redeemer Parish and with husband James participated in Marriage Encounter and Cursillo programs. She assisted husband James to initiate the Cursillo Movement after their move to Fort Myers, FL. SCARBOROUGH - Aurise Marie Loranger, 99, of Scarborough, a longtime Biddeford resident, died Wednesday, May 18, 2005 at Pine Point Nursing Care Center.She was born on Nov. 9, 1905 in St. Francis De Lac, Canada, a daughter of Dominique and Arthemise Pelletier. The youngest of 15 children, Aurise attended schools in Canada and in Biddeford.She went to work in the textile mills in Biddeford at the age of 13, working first for the Bates Mill, and later for 25 years at Pepperell Manufacturing Co.Aurise was first married to Ellery L. Bryant Jr., who died in 1939. She then married Arthur E. Loranger Jr. in 1941. Arthur died in 1992 after 51 years of marriage.Aurise enjoyed crocheting and handcrafts all of her life, but her central focus was her family - her children, grandchildren, great-grandchildren, and great-great-grandchildren.She was a communicant of St. Margaret's Catholic Church in Old Orchard Beach.Surviving is her daughter Pauline Underwood and her husband Joseph of Scarborough; a son, Arthur E. Loranger Jr. and his wife Linda of Manchester, Conn.; four grandchildren; eight great-grandchildren; and three great-great-grandchildren.Visiting hours will be Friday from 3-5 p.m. at Conroy-Tully Crawford South Portland Chapel, 1024 Broadway, South Portland. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 9 a.m. Saturday at St. Margaret's Catholic Church, Old Orchard Beach. The Rev. Coleman O'Toole will be the celebrant. WESTBROOK - Helen P. Gagnon, 98, of 26 Emery St. Westbrook and Margate, Fla., died Wednesday May 18, 2005 in a Portland hospital.She was born and raised in Westbrook, the daughter of Dana and Jane Buotte Pomerleau. Helen graduated from St. Josephs Academy in Portland. She worked for years in the Westbrook City Clerks office and later retired from the Westbrook Police Department in 1970.She moved to Florida, where she spent winters until 2001, when she moved back to Westbrook and resided with her sister before moving to Presumpscot Commons in June of 2003.Her husband Armand Gagnon died in 1977.She is survived by two sons, David and wife Terry Gagnon, with whom she resided, of Westbrook, and Philip and wife Ann Gagnon of Ashland, Ore.; a sister, Harriet Hill of Scarborough; sister-in-law, Lucille Pomerleau of Gorham; seven grandchildren; 12 great grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews.A memorial Mass will be held Tuesday, May 24, at 11 a.m. in St. Mary's Church. Born in Springfield on May 20, 1963 she was a graduate of Cathedral High School and received her Associates Degree for legal secretary from Springfield Technical Community College. She has resided in East Longmeadow for the past 15 years and was a communicant of St. Michael's Church. Carolene was predeceased by her father Alfred L. Rivet. She is survived by her husband of 16 years Neil T. Henderson; 3 daughters, Nicolette Michelle Henderson, Stephanie Anne Henderson, and Samantha Marie Henderson all at home; her mother Jeannette T. (Roy) Rivet of Chicopee, MA; a brother, Michael G. Rivet of East Longmeadow, MA; 4 sisters, Corinne M. Niznik of East Longmeadow, MA, Celeste A. Montessi of Springfield, MA, Charlotte L. BISSON, Joyce Lynn (Spear) -- Sept 17, 1960 - Feb 20, 2005 Joyce Lynn Bisson passed away unexpectedly in her home February 20, 2005. Joyce was a current Sacramento resident. Her roots however, will always be bound in Woodland. She attended Holy Rosary School as a grade school student, and Graduated from Woodland High School class of 1978. She later went on to UC Davis where she graduated with a teaching credential in history. Shortly thereafter she found a calling for special education, and finished her collegiate career at California State University at Sacramento with a masters degree in special education. As a child and young adult she had a passion for the animals in her life. She was active in 4-H and FFA, and was very proud of the herd of sheep she raised on her own as a child. She was preceded in death by her very favorite aunt, and name sake, Joyce Flannigan, her grandparents Mary Kelliher Ward, Mark Kelliher, Etta and Norest Spear, and her brother in law, Randy Sparks. She is survived by her mother Patricia Mary Spear, and Patricia's fiance Kenneth Moilanen, her father, Francis Spear and his wife Claire, her sisters Colleen Manzer, Julie Sparks, Stacey, and Cassie Spear, her brother in law, Chris Manzer, and the joy's of her life, her nieces and nephews, Michelle Morrison, James William Morrison, Melissa Sparks, and Randy Sparks, her aunt and uncle of Eagle River, Alaska, Mark and Hanna Kelliher, and numerous cousins. STEBENNE - Gordon Stebenne, was born in Denver, CO, on April 13, 1935. Raised in Long Beach, CA. Graduated from Long Beach State in 1958. Served in the US Army from 1958 to 1960. Gordon married Joanne Lindsey in 1968. He owned Gordon Stebenne Insurance Group for over 25 years. Gordon was deeply involved in the Pasadena Sister Citites Com. for over 20 years. Served for four years as Pres. until Jan. 2005. He traveled extensively including trips to Europe, Japan, and China. He was an active member of Lake Avenue Church and the Voyagers for the last 15 years. His love for the Lord ran strong and deep throughout his life. Gordon is survived by his wife Joanne, sister Corienne of Seattle, WA, son Mark 34 of Bos ton, and three granddaughters, Mia, Emma, and Hannah. Marcel Joseph Lortie , of Hearst - Date of Death: May 6th, 2005 - A liturgy of the word service for Hearst resident Marcel Joseph Lortie was held May 9, 2005. He died May 6 at Notre-Dame Hospital at age 79. Born Feb. 7, 1926 at Lac-des-Ecorces, Quebec, he came to the Hearst area in 1964. A cutter and then a millworker, he retired in 1981. A jovial, smiling, generous person, he enjoyed playing cards, reading, working around the home, and watching TV. Predeceased by his parents, a sister and three brothers, in Ontario or Quebec, he leaves sisters his Gisèle Macgillvray of Thunder Bay, Denise St-Pierre of Hearst, and Hélène St-Pierre of Ferme-Neuve, Quebec, as well as nieces and nephews. Rev. Jean-Marc Pelletier directed the liturgy of the word service at the Salon Lafrance Funeral Home. Interment will take place at Monsignor Grenier Cemetery.
