George A. Vanasse, Sr., 72, of Davol St. Fall River, died Sunday, May 15, 2005 at Charlton Memorial Hospital in Fall River. He was the husband of Sheila I. (Daley) Vanasse of Fall River. They were married for 19 years. Born on November 1, 1932, in Fall River, he was a son of the late Roland and Edith (Atterbury) Vanasse.He was raised in Fall River, and resided in Swansea for many years. He also lived in Sharon and Somerset for several years. Mr. Vanasse was a veteran of the United States Army. He worked as a baker throughout his life. In his early years he worked for his late father. He later worked for the Vienna Baking Company in Barrington, RI, for many years, and also at the Catholic Memorial Home in Fall River for 11 years, before his retirement. Following his retirement, he worked for several years at Auclair's Market on County St. in Somerset.He was a member of the Church of Our Savior in Somerset for many years. He was the Past President of the Somerset Lions Club. He was very active with the lions for many years. He was a member of the Swansea American Legion Post # 303. He was an avid golfer and enjoyed playing at various area golf courses.In addition to his wife, he is survived by a son, George Vanasse Jr., of Fall River, three daughters, Deborah MacKenzie, Lori Ashley, and Lou-Ann Vanasse, all of Swansea. He was the father of the late Donna Vanasse. He is also survived by his step-children, Jeffery Cartier, of Greeneville, RI, and Mary-Lou Cartier, of Fall River, his former wife, Beverly (Read) Foran, of Swansea, a sister, Marjorie Williams, of Somerset, 8 grandchildren, 3 great-grandchildren, and many nieces and nephews. He was the brother of the late Roland Vanasse.Funeral InformationHis funeral will be Wednesday, May 18, 2005 at 9:30 am from the Hathaway Home for Funerals, 1813 Robeson St., Fall River, followed by a Requiem Eucharist at 11:00 am in the Church of Our Savior, 2112 County St., Rte. 138, Somerset. Relatives and friends are invited to attend. Burial with Military Honors will follow in St. Patrick’s Cemetery, Fall River. Calling hours are Tuesday, MAy 17, 2005 from 4-8 PM.

Patricia M. LeBrun, 60, of Las Vegas, passed away Saturday, May 14, 2005. She was a real estate administrator and of Catholic faith. She was preceded in death by her husband, Wilbur John LeBrun (Oct. 19, 2002). Patricia is survived by her children, James Howell of Menifee, Calif., Kimberly Suzanne LeBrun-McDermott of Victorville, Calif., and William John LeBrun of Las Vegas; sister, Elizabeth Ann Rose-Weatherwax (Clancy) of Caswell Beach, N.C.; and one grandchild and one great-grandchild. CHELMSFORD -- Laurie Ann (Guimond) Gilman, 38, a resident of North Chelmsford, died Sunday, May 15, at Lowell General Hospital, after a lengthy battle with cancer. She was the wife of Kenneth E. Gilman Jr., to whom she was married for 14 years.She was born in Bridgeport, Conn., on July 7, 1966, daughter of Gabrielle (Guill) Coolong of Chelmsford and the late David Guimond. She graduated from the Greater Lowell Technical High School in 1984, and the Greater Lowell Technical Nursing School in 1985.Mrs. Gilman worked as a manager at Acton Podiatry of Acton.She was a communicant of St. Mary Church in Chelmsford.Mrs. Gilman was the president of the American Society of Podiatric Medical Assistants.Besides her husband and mother, survivors include a son, Kyle J. Gilman of North Chelmsford; two brothers, Paul and Adam Coolong, both of Lowell; a sister, Angie Guimond of Minnesota; a sister-in-law and brother-in-law, Denise and John "Don" Gilbride of Dunstable; her mother in-law, Pauline (Chouinard) Ferreria of Chelmsford; and many nieces and nephews.She was also the sister of Michael Guimond, who died last August. Raymond was a "Good Christian Man", a member of the Pioneer Valley Baptist Chapel, and beloved Sunday School Teacher at the Chapel. He is survived by his wife of 55 years, Shirley T. (LaPlante) Henault; 3 children: Ray Henault of Chicopee, Paul C. Henault of Chicopee, and Anne M. He was the husband of Priscilla J. (Melville) Poirier. They were married nearly 57 years. Born in Rochester, he was the son of the late Joseph and Annie (Dovins) Poirier. He was raised and educated in Middleboro and moved to Flagler Beach a year ago. He was a stationary steam engineer at Crown Services in South Boston for more than 15 years, retiring in 1979. He was a bus driver with Bill's Taxi in Bridgewater and delivered milk in the area. Mr. Poirier was a member of the Elks Lodge 1548, Wareham, a life member of the Middleboro Sportsmans Club and the Mitchell Memorial Club. He enjoyed shellfishing, salt and freshwater fishing and boating. Survivors include his widow; three sons, Robert E. Poirier of Raynham, Kenneth M. Jr. and Norman E. Poirier, both of Middleboro; two daughters, Ruth E. Young of Flagler Beach and Sherry L. Shay-Wassell of Hanson; 12 grandchildren; three great-grandchildren; and nieces and nephews. She had lived in Cohoes for many years and had lived in Clifton Park for the past 20 years. She had worked at Kay's Caps in Green Island for 20 years and then worked at Stanley H. Calkins in Cohoes and Waterford for 18 years. For the past year, she had worked at State Farm Ins. in Clifton Park. She was the loving wife of 40 years to Ronald J. Garibaldi of Scotia; devoted mother of Lisa Marie (Dominick Dean) Burke of Columbia, Maryland and Terri Ann M. Quick of Scotia; sister of Ronald Savaria of Pompano Beach, Fla. and Marilyn Stoliker of Clifton Park; grandmother of Kayla Kathleen Burke and Joshua Michael Burke, both of Columbia, Md.; also survived by several nieces and nephews. Funeral services will be held Wednesday at 10 a.m. from the Marra Funeral Home, corner of Remsen and Columbia Streets, Cohoes. Interment will be in St. Joseph's Cemetery, Waterford. Relatives and friends are invited and may call at the funeral home Tuesday from 4 to 8 p.m. In lieu of flowers donations, in Phyllis's memory, may be made to the Glenville Humane Society, Maple Avenue, Scotia, N.Y. McLEAN, DOROTHY MAE 'LYNN' - The death of Dorothy Mae 'Lynn' McLean, wife of the late Dr. John Douglas McLean, occurred on May 16, 2005 at the Saint John Regional Hospital. Born in Canso, NS, she was the daughter of the late Kingston and Rena (McKenzie) Keating. She was a member of St. Pius X Church and regularly attended the Cathedral of the Immaculate Conception. She is survived by her sons Douglas, Andrew and Stephen, her daughters Elizabeth, Anne and Mary, her brothers John, Edward and Delbert, her sister Maureen McKelvie, her grandchildren Patrick, Christopher, Anna, Katherine, John, Joseph, Matthew, Michael, James, Emily, Sarah, Jacob, Hannah and Elizabeth and several nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by her grandson Mikey and her brother Lloyd. Although there are no visiting hours, following cremation at Brenans Select Community Funeral Home, 111 Paradise Row (634-7424), the Mass of Christian Burial is to be celebrated on Thursday, May 19, 2005, at 12 noon, from the Cathedral of the Immaculate Conception.
