PERLEY, RITA ANN - The death of Rita Perley of the Tobique First Nation occurred on April 2, 2005 at the Hotel Dieu Hospital at the age of 75. Born in Maliseet, she was the daughter of the late Simon and Elizabeth Paul. She is survived by her husband Morris Perley; seven daughters Mary Geraldine (Checker) (Bob) Kier, Jacqueline Perley, Carol Angela Perley, Lesha Perley, all of Tobique, Deidra Perley of Grand Falls, Rhonda (John) Toupou of California, and Barby Perley (Mike) of Tobique; eight sons Lawrence (Larry) (Loretta), Gordon Paul (Lorna), Ronald Reid (Ann), Eric (Ricky), Vernon (Laura), Darren, Brian and Randall (Stephanie Tara), all of Tobique; 33 grandchildren; and 26 great grandchildren; several nieces, nephews, brothers, and sisters-in-law. Resting at 12 Perley Road, with visiting on Sunday evening, April 3rd until time of service. Funeral service will be held on Tuesday, April 5th at 2 pm from St. Ann's Catholic Church with Father Curtis Sappier officiating. Interment in St. Ann's Cemetery at a later date. Shirley Wilhelms Funeral arrangements by Regina Funeral Home WILHELMS – Shirley Margaret (Tucker) was born in Esterhazy, SK, on July 19, 1948 and passed away in Regina, SK on Sunday, April 3, 2005. Shirley is survived by her husband Walter; sons, David (Nadine) and grandchildren Janine and Lora; Bob (Jamie) and grandchildren Erica, Thomas and Andrew; sister, Louise Lamberton (Mansell Patterson); and niece, Shannon (Dom) Tailleur and their children Chantal, Amber, Jacob and Josee. Shirley is also survived by her father Edward Tucker and mother-in-law Dorothy Wilhelms; Walter’s siblings: Lorraine (Clarry) Cameron and family; Allan (Anne) and family; Milt (Sharon) and family; and Lloyd (Monique) and family; and special friends, Gayle (Andy) MacKay, Marjorie (Don) Bater and the Grosse families. Shirley was predeceased by her mother Hazel in 1980 and father-in law, John in 1997 and Marion Grosse in 1999. Shirley was educated in Regina and commenced her career with the Co-operators in 1966 and retired in 2004. Shirley will be sorely missed by all her family, friends, colleagues and special feline friend REBA. The family wishes to express a special thanks to Dr. I.R. Hill and Dr. L. Clein; the Palliative Home Care staff; the nurses on 3A Pasqua Hospital; and the staff at Wascana Grace Hospice, for the compassionate care provided. SZewciw, Michael "Mike" (Shewciw) In loving memory of Michael "Mike" Szewciw (Shewciw), 81 years who passed away Saturday, April 2nd, 2005 at the Sudbury Regional Hospital -Memorial Site. Beloved husband of Tekla (Baluszewska) of Sudbury. Loving father of Roma of Sudbury and Tamara (husband Larry Ushey) of Sault Ste. Marie. Cherished grandfather of Juliann. Born in Bibrka, Ukraine in 1923 he moved to Canada in 1948. He worked in Kiosk, ON as a blacksmith before moving to Sudbury where he obtained employment as a skimmer at the INCO Copper Cliff smelter. He married Tekla in Sudbury in 1949. He retired in 1985. He was active in retirement with his many interests. He enjoyed gardening, exercising, inventing mechanical gadgets and doing woodworking. He made and sold stained glass items that made their way around the world. There were few things that he could not do - reading and learning being an important part of his life. He was a vibrant part of the Ukrainian Community by being very active in many local Ukrainian associations. Especially the Ukrainian Senior Center and St. Mary's Ukrainian Catholic Church. He was a man of great faith, who loved his family and had a zest for life. BENNINGTON — Jessica "Jessei" Lynn Lussier, 27, a resident of Orange and formerly of Bennington, died on March 31, 2005, at Southwestern Vermont Medical Center in Bennington, Vt., following a brief illness. She was born Aug. 3, 1977, in Pittsfield, Mass., the daughter of Arthur and Sandra (Hurley) Lussier.She received her education in local Pittsfield schools.Miss Lussier had been employed in different careers over the past few years. Most recently, she was employed at Byer Hill Horse Farm in Orange as a stable hand, working with horses.She was a member of St. Peter's Episcopal Church in Bennington.She was an avid horsewoman and lover of all animals, including reptiles. She enjoyed traveling.Survivors include her parents of Bennington; her son, Trenor Matthew, of Bennington; her brother, Carson Lussier of Bennington; her sisters, Alanna Lussier and Taylor Lussier, both of Bennington. She also leaves her maternal grandmother and her husband, Hank and Barbara (Cannon) Brazeau of North Adams, Mass.; her paternal grandparents, Francis and Lorreta Lussier of Lady Lake, Fla.; and several aunts, uncles and cousins.There are no calling hours.The Burial Office with Holy Eucharist will be offered at 11 a.m. Tuesday at St. Peter's Episcopal Church in Bennington, with the Rev. Born in Sackville, she was a daughter of Allan Lucci and Muriel Lucci. Aleisha graduated from Tantramar Regional High School. She was employed at Minacs in Riverview, NB for the last four years. Davidson 1909 - 2005 It is with sadness that the family announce the passing of Frances Davidson, wife of the late Cecil Davidson of Moncton, formerly of Miramichi, at The Moncton Hospital on Saturday, April 2, 2005 at the age of 96. Born in Doyles Brook, March 12, 1909, the daughter of the late George and Grace (MacKinley) Gallan. She was a life long member of St. Mark's United Church, Quarryville. Frances was a creative homemaker, who was a volunteer for many years with the Canadian Red Cross, which gave her the opportunity to pursue her many hobbies which included sewing, knitting, quilting and baking. She is survived by her sons, Perley (Louise) of Moncton, with whom she resided, George (Shirley) of Lindsay, ON; daughter, Ethel Price of Moncton; sisters, Georgina Pleadwell of Upper Derby, Alice Matchett of Cranbrook, BC, Velma Price of Miramichi; sisters-in-law, Ella Gallan of Gray Rapids, and Ruth Gallan of Doyles Brook; 13 grandchildren, 17 great grandchildren; as well as numerous nieces and nephews. ROBINSON, WILLIAM "BILL" The death of William "Bill" Robinson, of Doaktown, NB, husband of June Robinson occurred on Sunday April 3, 2005 at the Dr. Everett Chalmers Regional Hospital. Born on January 9, 1935 in Doaktown, NB, he was a son of the late Melvin and Nora (O'Donnell) Robinson. Mr. Robinson was with the R.C.E.M.E for 26 years and served in the Korean War. Besides his wife, he is survived by sons Blase (Julie DeForest) and Mark and friend Connie of Hockley, ON; grandchildren Claire Robinson and Caitlyn DeForest; brothers Ernie (Diane) of Fredericton, NB, Leon (Bonnie) of Charlottetown, PEI and Michael and friend Barb of Doaktown, NB; sister Velma (Vernon) Dunphy of Boiestown, NB; and several nieces and nephews. She was a member of the Jamestown Philomenian Library and the Jamestown Historical Society. She enjoyed crafting and making dried flower arrangements. NEW BEDFORD -- James D. Gaouette, 18, of New Bedford died Wednesday, March 30, 2005, at St. Luke's Hospital. A lifelong resident of New Bedford, he was the son of Darlene Machado of New Bedford and Douglas Gaouette of Dorchester. Mr. Gaouette was a landscaper and worked with his father in the heating and plumbing business. He was an avid sports fan who excelled in football and baseball. He was a member of the South End Youth Athletic Association and participated in the New Bedford Pop Warner football program. Most of all, he loved spending time with his niece, Jaydah. Survivors include his parents; a brother, Justin Gaouette of New Bedford; two sisters, Krystin Gaouette and Katie Alves, both of New Bedford; his grandparents, Dorothy Machado of Freetown, and Rita and Roland Gaouette of New Bedford; a niece; and several aunts, uncles and cousins. She was also the co-founder with her son-in-law Leonard Anair of the Annual Diane Anair Memorial Golf Tournament. She was the beloved widow of Emile Turgeon, loving mother of James, Daniel, and Chislaine Turgeon all of Colorado, Luke Turgeon of PA, Louise Turgeon of Agawam, and the Late Diane Anair who died in 2002. She was the caring sister of Claude, Fernand, Adrian, and Jean-Raymond Girard and Yolanda Langlois, devoted great grandmother of Cerena, Kurt, Keith, Tanya, and Eric Turgeon, and Monique Nicole, and Don Anair. She also leaves her cherished great grandchildren, Jacob and Emma Towsley. BERLIN - Claude T. Groux, 84, formerly of Route 22, died on Saturday at the Center for Living and Rehabilitation in Bennington, VT, where he had been a resident for the past three years.Born January 11, 1921 in Berlin, he was the son of the late Charles and Effie Hassom Groux.He was the loving husband of the late Florence Moon Groux who died on August 5, 1995. They were married in Berlin on February 17, 1951.Mr. Groux was a lifelong resident of Berlin and attended the Toad Point (Petersburgh) Schoolhouse along with the Berlin United Methodist Church.He worked as a lathe operator for W. J. Cowee Co., Inc. in Berlin, retiring in the early 1980s. His lifelong hobby was farming on his property.Survivors include a son, Larry C. (Claudia) Groux of Petersburgh; five stepchildren, Emma Michaels, Dorothy Alderman, Eleanor Jones, John S. Weaver and Betty Weaver, all of Petersburgh; along with many grandchildren, great- grandchildren and great-great grandchildren.Funeral services will be on Wednesday at noon at the Thomas M. Barber Funeral Home, 66 Armsby Road, Petersburgh, where Rev. William O'Dell will officiate. LEWISTON - Valerie Saunders, 72, a lifelong resident of Hebron, died Friday, April 1, at d'Youville Pavilion, surrounded by her loving family.Born in Lewiston on June 17, 1932, she was the fourth of nine children born to Oliver and Marieanne (Lachappelle) Hamel. She graduated from Buckfield High School.She married Thorald Saunders, also of Hebron, and together they raised three children, Aleta, Bonnie and Bradley. She cared for her husband through a lengthy illness until he succumbed in 1973. She earned certification as a medication technician, and worked at d'Youville Pavillion for more than 20 years following his death.She was an active member of Our Lady of Ransom parish in Mechanic Falls for many years, and was an ardent supporter of St. Dominic Regional High School and the former Sacred Heart School. She was a tireless worker at every endeavor, and was always ready to reach out to anyone in need of help.She leaves a legacy of courage and determination for all who knew and loved her.She is survived by her daughter, Aleta and Roger Rioux of Hebron, her daughter, Bonnie and Rodney Stone of Minot, her son, Bradley and Terry Saunders of Hebron; grandson, Roger and Lisa Rioux, granddaughter, Melissa Rioux, grandson, Aaron and Michelle Stone, granddaughter, Audrey and Caleb LaFrance, granddaughter, Angela and Justin LaFrance, and granddaughter, Lael Saunders; great-grandchildren, Isabelle, Abraham, Carly, and Lauren; sister, Irene Beaucage, brother, Roland Hamel, brother, Robert and Joyce Hamel, sister, Georgette and Charles Monteith, sister, Gloria and Gerald Michaud, sister, Jane and Bill Campbell, sister, Anne and David Lowell, brother-in-law, Robert Sprague, sister-in-law, Kay Saunders; and many nieces and nephews.She was predeceased by her sister, Theresa Sprague; her parents; and her husband, Thorald.

MORIAH CENTER -- Thomas R. Marcil Sr., 69, of Plank Road, Moriah Center, passed away April 1 at his home surrounded by his loving family. He was born July 30, 1935 in Cohoes, the son of Edward and Vivian (Chamberlain) Marcil. He graduated from Saratoga Springs High School in 1954. Tom entered the U.S. Army on Dec. 17, 1954, where he served as a tank driver until his honorable discharge on Nov. 30, 1956. He resided and worked in Saratoga Springs for several years before moving to Moriah. Tom was employed with Niagara Mohawk for 37 years, retiring in 1995 as a chief line mechanic.He was a beloved husband, father and grandfather. Tom was an avid hunter and fisherman and enjoyed the outdoors.He is survived by his loving wife, Mary Jane; two sons, Kevin Marcil of Greenville, S.C., and Thomas and Buffy Marcil of Moriah; three daughters, Lisa and Anthony Marcil-Huffman of Myrtle Beach, S.C., Wendy and Thomas Manfred of Moriah and Jennifer and Robert Porter of Ticonderoga; two brothers, Joseph and Sally Marcil of Barefoot Bay, Fla., and Robert Marcil and his friend, Suzanne, of Saratoga Springs; four grandchildren, Monica Manfred, Bailey Marcil and Vivian and Aidan Porter; and several nieces, nephews, cousins and many loving friends. He was predeceased by his parents, Edward and Vivian Marcil, and two sons, Michael and David Marcil.Calling hours will be held from 6 to 9 p.m. Monday and from 9 to 10:30 a.m. Tuesday at Harland Funeral Home, 4279 Main St., Port Henry, N.Y. DUNSTABLE -- Mr. Gerald A. Vaillancourt 73, a 33-year resident of Dunstable died Saturday, April 2, 2005 at Beth-Israel Deaconess Hospital in Boston after a brief illness. He was married to Mrs. Carol (McNerney) Vaillancourt with whom he would have celebrated their 46th wedding anniversary on August 29, 2005. Born in Lowell, MA on January 28, 1932, the son of the late Arthur and Mildred (Vickery) Vaillancourt. He was a graduate of Lowell Trade School.He served with the U.S. Air Force during the Korean War. He was formerly employed with C.F. Hathaway Shirt Company in Lowell and retired as a buyer from the Digital Equipment Corporation in 1993.He was a communicant of St. John the Evangelist Church in N. Chelmsford, where he was a former religious education teacher, and St. Joseph's Church in Pepperell, MA, where he served as an usher.He was a board member of the Elder Services of the Merrimack Valley, and served as president of the Dunstable Senior Citizens Club. Gerald enjoyed Dunstable Politics.Besides his wife, he is survived by three sons, David Vaillancourt. Ph.D., of Granby MA, Michael Vaillancourt of Dunstable, and Peter and his wife Susan Vaillancourt of Hudson, NH, two brothers Robert Vaillancourt of Lowell and John and his wife Nyola Vaillancourt of Groton MA; a sister Elinor Bernier of Simsbury CT, three sisters-in-law Patricia McNerney of Dunstable, Joan Glick of Blackstone MA, and Beatrice Vaillancourt of Lowell. Gerald is also survived by a grandchild Evan G. Vaillancourt as well as many nieces and nephews and close friends.He was also the brother of the late Donald, Clifford, and Roland Vaillancourt and his sister the late Shirley Rock.

Pellegrin, Yvonne Waguespack A retired registered nurse, she was born on Jan. 6, 1916, and died at 7:10 p.m. Wednesday, March 16, 2005, at the age of 89. She was a resident of Houma and a native of Donaldsonville. She is survived by her son and daughter-in-law, Al and Loretta Pellegrin, Houma; former daughter-in-law, Kay Murray Pellegrin; three grandsons, Scott Pellegrin, Houma, Matthew Pellegrin, Troy, Ala., and Patrick Pellegrin, Minneapolis; granddaughter, Jennifer Pellegrin Christensen and husband Charles, Minneapolis; and six great-grandchildren, Allie, Courtney and Brook Christensen, Morgan, Patrick and Dillion Pellegrin, all of Minneapolis. She was a graduate of Ascension Catholic High School and Hotel Dieu, after which she worked for many years as a registered nurse. She was a parishioner of St. Gregory Catholic Church. A woman of great faith, she will be remembered as a strong and very gracious lady who had a great sense of humor and a joyful spirit. It was her request that her body be donated to science. A memorial Mass will be celebrated on Saturday, April 9, at 1 p.m. at St. Gregory Catholic Church in Houma. Special thanks to the staff of GCFTS for their care and kindness.
