Iréne Marguerite Poirier (1920-2005) Iréne Marguerite Poirier, 84, of Murphy Ave., Moncton, N.B., formerly of Grande-Digue, passed away at Villa Du Repos, Moncton on March 31, 2005 after a lengthy illness. Born in Bouctouche, N.B. on July 10, 1920, she was the daughter of the late Alex Nowlan and the late Marie Blanche Melanson. She was a retired housewife. She attended La Visitation Roman Catholic Church, Grande-Digue. Iréne is survived by her husband, Gerard Poirier; her daughter, Annette Poirier of Dieppe; two sons, Raymond Poirier of Lynn, Mass, Michel Poirier of Dieppe; one brother, Albert Nowlan (Rose) of Dieppe; several cousins, nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by one brother, Alfred; three half brothers, Antoine, Andy, Arthur; three half sisters, Eva, Nora and Anita. Resting at Coopérative Funéraire Passage Funeral Co-operative, Shediac Bridge, N.B., with visitation on Sunday from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 pm and Monday from 2 pm till 3:30 pm. The Funeral Service will be held at La Visitation Roman Catholic Church, Grande-Digue on Monday, April 4, 2005 at 4 pm. Interment will take place in the Parish Cemetery at a later date. Hertha Kopetzky 1914 - 2005 The death of Hertha Kopetzky, 90 years, of Lakeview Manor, Riverview and formerly of 136 Cornhill Street, Moncton occurred at her residence on Friday, April 1, 2005. Born in Vienna, Austria, she was the daughter of the late Josef and Josefine Gerwig. She followed her only child Erich and his family to Canada in the early 1970's and was extremely proud when she studied and earned her Canadian Citizenship. She was a Kindergarten teacher for over 30 years in Vienna; she was a classical pianist and had a great love for music. A truly sweet, appreciative lady who loved to say "Many Thanks". She is survived by her son, Erich Kopetzky Sr. (Christa-Marie) of Vienna, Austria; grandson, Erich Kopetzky Jr. (Marie-France) of Irishtown; granddaughter, Patricia-Dominique Henwood (Scott) of Hillsborough. Two precious great granddaughters, Cassandra Kopetzky and Sophia Maria-Theresia Henwood. In addition to her parents, she was predeceased by a brother Erdfried; sister Ada and a niece Sieglinde. By request there will not be any visiting hours prior to the memorial mass which will be celebrated at St Augustine's Church on Tuesday, April 5, 2005 at 11 am followed by interment in Fairhaven Memorial Gardens. SAVAGE, RONALD The death of Ronald Savage of New Maryland, NB, occurred at the Dr. Everett Chalmers Hospital on Friday, April 1st, 2005. Ronald was born in 1923 in Montreal PQ, and he was the husband of Lois (Brown) Savage. Survived by his wife Lois; one son, Roy Savage (Rose) of Oromocto, NB, one daughter, Lorraine Savage Thomas (Ken) of Coquitlam, BC; three grandchildren, Brittany, Ashley and Logan Savage; two sisters, Gladys Savage and Christina Mitchell. BEAUMONT, PHYLLIS M.E. - After a brief illness, Phyllis Beaumont, wife of the late West W. Beaumont, passed away peacefully on Wednesday, March 30, 2005 at her residence. Born in Saint John, she was the daughter of the late Wilfred J. and Hazel B. (Clark) Burt. Phyllis was employed with the Bank of Montreal for over 38 years. She belonged to St. Paul's Valley Anglican Church, as well as being a member of the choir all her life. She was a member of the Westfield Golf and Country Club and she loved to bowl. Phyllis is the last surviving member of her immediate family. In addition to her husband and parents, she was predeceased by two brothers. By her request, cremation has taken place and there will be no visitation or funeral service. CHIASSON, THERESE - The death of Mrs. Therese Chiasson, wife of Leonard Chiasson occurred on Friday April 1, 2005 at the Saint John Regional Hospital. Born on September 2nd, 1931 in Middle Caraquet, she was the daughter of the late Joseph and Rose Delina (Frigault) Chiasson. Therese loved gardening, the wild life and quilting. She will be sadly missed by her many family and friends. She is survived, besides her husband, by four sons: Valmond, Norman of Toronto, Leonard of Saint John and Rheal of Saint John; three daughters Anita MacDonald (Dave) of Saint John, Raymonde Hughes of Ontario and Marielle (Gaby) Azzam of London Ontario; two brothers Lucian (Lauza) of Bathurst and Arture (Alexandreine) of Allardville; two sisters Anita Dugas (Delmos) of Bathurst and Augustina Gionet (Presley) of Rogersville; 15 grandchildren; 12 great grandchildren; one uncle; 16 nieces and 24 nephews. FRISE, HOWARD ROY - Passed away at the Saint John Regional Hospital on March 30, 2005. Howard was born in Toronto, son of the late Charles Hamilton Frise and Emily Madeline Day. He is survived by his wife Patricia; one daughter DeBorah Barnes of Grand Bay-Westfield; one son Stephen of Fort McMurray, AL; one grandson Andrew Barnes of Grand Bay-Westfield and several nieces and nephews in Ontario. He was predeceased by four brothers and three sisters. Howard was employed by Christie Brown (Nabisco) and came to Saint John in 1965 as Branch Manager. A Member of the Power Boat Club, he spent many years cruising the St. John River and its tributaries. He golfed and curled and was a member of the Riverside Country Club. Howard was a member of Saint David's United Church in Rothesay. He was proud of his work with the Masonic Lodge, Albion Lodge # 1, Scottish Rites, 32nd Degree. Howard was an avid walker and was a familiar figure in the Rothesay area. During the Second World War, he served for a time with a Special Intelligence Force of the RCMP in Halifax. A Memorial Service will be held at the Turnbull Nursing Home at a later date. The family would appreciate donations made to the Parkinson Society of Canada. Madeleine Caouette (nee: Grondin) , of Hearst - Date of Death: March 22nd, 2005 - The funeral service for Hearst resident Madeleine (née Grondin) Caouette, 57, of Cécile Trailer Park was held March 24, 2005. She died March 22, 2005 at Notre-Dame Hospital from a lengthy illness. Born Nov. 26, 1947 in Timmins, she came to the Hearst area in 1964. Described by family as friendly, big-hearted, welcoming and helpful towards others, she enjoyed cooking, gardening, knitting and painting. Predeceased by parents Noëlla and Paul-Emile Grondin, sisters Claudette Grondin and Aline Grondin, and a brother Eloi Grondin, she leaves her husband Raymond Caouette of Hearst. Also surviving are her sister Alice (Ray) Phoenix of Chelmsford, Ont., and brothers Emile (Diane), Henri, Raymond and Arcade (Cindy) Grondin, all of Timmins, Jean-Paul (Aline), and Maurice (Brenda Lamb) Grondin, all of Hearst. Rev. Rémi Lessard directed the afternoon service at Notre-Dame-de-l’Assomption Cathedral. Interment will be at Monsignor Grenier Cemetery. BOOTH, James Raymond Born June 19, 1943 Died Easter Sunday, March 27, 2005 after a seven-year struggle with ALS. Sandra (Ellicott), his wife and partner of 39 years whose love, support, and care he counted on, dearly misses him. Jim was the proud father of sons Cameron and David who will miss his love and guidance. He is survived by daughter-in-law Margot Berrill; brother Michael and his wife Gay of Kitchener, Ontario; sister Rosemary Stuart and her husband Jim of Salmon Arm, B.C.; his 5 nieces and 3 nephews. Born in Yellowknife, Jim's early years were spent in the former Northern Rhodesia. Returning to Canada, he attended Queens University (B. Com, 1966, MBA 1967). Jim had a varied career as a banker, fish farmer, business consultant, and international trade commissioner with the Canadian Embassy in Beijing, China. Throughout his life, he enjoyed many opportunities for exotic travel and wonderful friendships. Jim enjoyed few things more than sharing a bottle of good wine and conversation. His friends around the world will remember his sense of humour, his gregariousness and his generosity. Jim remained at home during his lengthy struggle with this devastating disease, where he had a view of the Vancouver harbour he loved. He was a symbol of grace under pressure and courageously faced his illness. He is free and at peace at last. The family would like to thank all of those who have been so wonderfully supportive. A special thanks is extended to his personal care givers for their dedication and love. As one friend said, Jim faced his fate with the same determination and good nature that he always brought to life. DEGAGNE, Andre Henri December 5, 1941 - March 30, 2005 Peacefully in Ottawa Hospital on March 30, 2005 after battling a long fight with cancer at the age of 63. Predeceased by his parents, survived by his sweetheart wife Halina, daughter Tania and son-in-law Bill. His number one special love of his life granddaughter Ashley and nine brothers and sisters. JONES, W. Eric. 1919-2005. Late February at the War Memorial Hospital in Perth, Ontario after a brief illness. Beloved husband of the late Beverley Selby (Whiteside), and much loved and so dearly missed father of Deidre Nishimura (Takao), Sherrill Gregoire (Jean) and Beverley-Anne Roth (Ted). Grandfather to Marc-Eric and Kevin Gregoire. Eric grew up in Westmount and after his war service with the RCAF, married and lived in Montreal West for the next thirty years. He moved to Ontario in 1975 where he remained until his death. A memorial service to honour the lives of Eric and Beverley Jones will be held at St. Philips Anglican Church in Montreal West on April 16, 2005 at 11 a.m. A reception will follow in the guild room of the church. KINGSTONE, Cecil R. (1913-2005) Marjorie, Joan and John wish to announce the sudden passing of their cherished Dad, Cecil Raymond Kingstone on March 30, 2005. He was also dearly loved by his sons-in-law, Bob Mailer and John Talbot and all of his grandchildren. He was predeceased by his wife Hazel in 1993. Cecil was a long time resident of Rosemere, Quebec and had recently begun a new life at Central Park Lodge in St. Lambert. A private funeral was held on Friday, April 1st. Arrangements were entrusted to Mount Royal Commemorative Services. Very special thanks go to the Charles Lemoyne Hospital Emergency Observation B and 4th Floor Palliative Care Staff, also to the caregivers and the residents at the Lodge. MACNEILL, ROBIN E Robin E. MacNeill, formerly of Barrie ON and recently of Fredericton NB, died peacefully at home, 60 Fairview Dr in Fredericton NB, on the 31st day of March 2005 at the age of 59, following a brief and valiant struggle with cancer. Robin was born Aug 23, 1945 in Moncton, NB and was the second son of Henry MacNeill and Hazel (Drury) MacNeill. He grew up in Ontario and graduated from high school in Thetford Mines, QC in 1964. He loved the outdoors and was very active all his life. He was predeceased by his infant son Jeffrey MacNeill. He is survived by his common-law wife Sharon Hicks of Fredericton NB, and two sons, James (MacNeill) Adams of Bathurst NB and Aaron MacNeill (Cathy) of Toronto, ON. Also survived by his parents of Barrie, ON; three brothers, Dennis MacNeill (Nora) of Simcoe, ON, Timothy MacNeill and John MacNeill (Cindy) of Barrie, ON; several aunts and uncles, nieces and nephews, many cousins and their families; step-daughter Heather (Fyffe) Dunham (Brian Sullivan) of Dundas, On, Iain Fyffe (Alyson) of Fredericton NB, and Graham Fyffe (Lingke) of Montreal, PQ and step-grandchildren David Dunham, Abigail Fyffe and Caleb Fyffe. Dorothy passed on peacefully at the hospital, after a very short illness. Born on March 17, 1921 in Fredericton, NB, she was a daughter of the late Charles and Lillian DeLong. Dorothy was a member of the Nashwaaksis United Baptist Church and was an avid volunteer for her community. Besides her husband, she is survived by two sons, Dr. Richard Wade (Cheryl) and Dr. David Wade (Astrid) both of Fredericton, NB; five grandchildren, Amanda Wade McLaughlin (Carter), Ryan, Ashley, Lance and Misty Wade Hovey (Tristan); three brother-in-laws, Wendell Ritchie, Chester (Reta), Dale (Polly) Wade; and several nieces and nephews. Doris devoted many years to volunteer work in her community in scouting, the Canadian National Institute for the Blind and the Diabetes Association. Miss Denise L. Cunningham 1964 - 2005 ST. CATHERINES, ON - Miss Densie Louise Cunningham, of St. Catherines, ON, and formerly of Baie St. Anne, passed away in St. Catherines, ON, on Wednesday, March 23, 2005, at the age of 40. Born in Baie St. Anne, she was the daughter of Paul Cunningham and Rose May (Manuel) Doucet, and stepdaughter of Alphonse Doucet. She attended the Roman Catholic Church. She is survived by her parents; her stepfather, Alphonse Doucet; one daughter, Crystal Mazzerolle, of Ontario; two brothers, Steven Cunningham (Angela) and Michael Cunningham, all of Baie St. Anne; her paternal grandmother, Jean Cunningham, of Georgetown, ON; as well as numerous aunts, uncles, and cousins. A public visitation will be held at St. Anne's Roman Catholic Church, Baie St. Anne, on Sunday, April 3, from 7 to 9pm and Monday, April 4 from 9am until the time of the funeral. A memorial Mass will be celebrated from St. Anne's Roman Catholic Church, Baie St. Anne, on Monday morning, April 4, 2005, at 11 am, conducted by Father Fidele LeBlanc.
