Edna Mildred Greenough August 28, 1917 - March 28, 2005 Funeral arrangements by Atlantic Funeral Home (Dartmouth) GREENOUGH, Edna Mildred - 87, Ocean View Manor, died March 28, 2005, in Dartmouth General Hospital. Born in Hermitage Bay, NL, she was a daughter of the late George and Maria Ann (Simms) Dowding. Edna was the last surviving member of her immediate family. She was a member of St. George's Anglican Church, Halifax. She was employed with Birks Jewelers and later as a ward clerk at the VG Site, QEII, until her retirement. For many years Edna was an IODE member of the Westmount Chapter. Surviving are son, Gary (Sharon), Dartmouth; grandchildren, Shauna (Jonathan) Richardson, Calgary, Alta.; Jason, South Korea; several nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by husband, Horace; brother, Hubert; sisters, Blanche and Emily. Cremation has taken place. The family will receive visitors on Saturday, April 2, from 10:30-11 a.m. in Atlantic Funeral Home, 771 Main St., Dartmouth, at which time a memorial service will be held, Rev. GORMAN, JAMES EDWARD Word has been received of the death of James E. Gorman of Parksville, B.C., formerly of Marysville, N.B. Born in 1932, Jim was the son of Ritchie E and Margaret (McManus) Gorman. He is survived by his wife, Dorothy Jean (Dorval, Logan) Gorman, daughter Cynthia Gorman and granddaughter Melissa Macahonic, both of Vancouver, B.C., step-son Richard Logan, stepdaughter Barbara Csordas, both of Victoria, B.C., sister Dorothy Wright (Bill) of Hanwell, N.B., several nieces, nephews and cousins. Jim was predeceased by his parents, brother Ritchie C. Gorman, and sister Phyllis Hovey. Jim was retired after 26 years of service with the Canadian Coast Guard. He was an avid sports fan. DRUMMOND, EUGENE "POP" REGINALD Eugene "Pop" Reginald Drummond of Geary passed away at the Dr. Everett Chalmers Hospital on March 28, 2005 at the age of 78. Born in Geary, NB on September 23, 1926, Eugene was the son of the late Horace and Janet Drummond. He was retired after 33 years service as a heavy equipment operator at Base Gagetown. Eugene is survived by his beloved wife Rowena (Carr) Drummond; his sons Jerry (Dolores), Ross (Edna) and Brian (Sandy); his daughters Bonnie Grace, Pat Mercier (Rick) and Debbie Burtt (Bobby) all of Geary; grandchildren Sherry, Eric, Michael, Geoffrey, Terry, Jeremy, Jessica, Levene, Megan, Josh; great grandchildren Jillian and Ethan; his brother Douglas Drummond (Rose); his sisters Helen MacGougan, Pauline MacDonald (John), and Barb McLaughlin (William); as well as several nieces, nephews and cousins. Eugene was predeceased by granddaughter Jennifer and a sister Betty Ball. The family will be receiving friends on Thursday at Bishop's Funeral Home 540 Woodstock Road Fredericton from 2-4 & 7-9 pm. QUINN, JOHN PAUL - Unexpectedly on Sunday, March 27, 2005, John passed away at the Saint John Regional Hospital with his wife and children at his side. Born in Toronto, ON, he was the youngest son of Norman and Elizabeth (Batorski) Quinn. John had been employed with Enbridge in Ontario since 1988 and was then transferred to Enbridge Gas New Brunswick as an Operations Supervisor in 2001. In addition to his parents, John is survived by his wife Karen, daughters Tiffany, Brandi and Dana, and son Cooper; brothers David (Monica) Ripley,ON., Dr. Jim (Dr. Jennifer Maw) Portola Valley, California; sister Susan and husband Heath Blount, Duntroon, ON., as well as, several nieces and nephews. Helen Veronica Owen (née Hustiuk) July 26, 1911 - March 29, 2005 Funeral arrangements by Chapel Lawn Funeral Home Helen Veronica Hustiuk Owen passed away peacefully on Tuesday, March 29, 2005 at Central Park Lodge Parkview Place in Winnipeg, Manitoba. Helen was born in Austria in 1911 and she came to Canada with her mother in 1913, settling in Alberta. During the Second World War she and her children moved to Winnipeg, joining her husband who was stationed there serving in the Army. Before retiring, she operated a rooming house and worked as a Beauty Counselor Representative. Whenever possible, she volunteered for community service. She helped at the Salvation Army Canteen during the war, canvassed for the United Way and served when called upon at church. She was a member of the Canadian Legion Ladies’ Auxiliary No. 1 Branch and the International War Veterans Association. Later in life she rededicated herself and became a Born Again Christian. Helen was the daughter of Nicholi Hustiuk and Doris Hustiuk (Keeper) and stepdaughter to Elia Keeper, all now deceased. Her husband Earl, a son of Ernest and four stepbrothers Nick, George, William and Floyd Keeper preceded her in death. Left to celebrate her life is her daughter Gladys and son-in-law, Robert; a stepbrother John Keeper; stepsisters Anne Jantz and Sarah Berry; daughter-in-law Joan; grandchildren, Russ, Roy, Jim and Terri; great-grandchildren, Russ, Scott, Jennifer, Jim, Taylor, Trace, Riley and Autumn. The family extends a big thank you to the 2nd Floor staff of Central Park Lodge for all the heartfelt kindness and loving care given to Mom while she lived there. BRADLEY, F. John (Jack) At the Queensway Carleton Hospital on Tuesday, March 29, 2005 in his 89th year. Beloved husband for 63 years of Muriel Grace Bradley (nee Currie). Loved father of Murray Bradley (Sheila) of Victoria B.C. and Beverley Reeves (Peter) of Nepean. Grandpa to his dearest Andrea. Also survived by his sister Joan Chilcott. Predeceased by his sisters Helen Bradley and Freda Cameron and his brother Pilot Officer Robert Bradley, RCAF Bomber Command, shot down over Berlin in January 1944. Jack was a veteran of World War II, serving with the RCAF (Radar) from 1941 to 1945. Following the war Jack was employed by R.L. Crain Ltd. in Ottawa, Maple Leaf Mills in Toronto and Canadian Government Exhibition Commission and Trade Fairs and Missions Branch of the Department of Trade and Commerce, Ottawa. Special thanks to the caregivers at Lynwood Park Lodge and the caregivers and nursing staff at Stillwater Creek Community Retirement Centre for their excellent and loving care over the past two years. Edith Lloyd 1909 - 2005 RIVERVIEW, NB - Ida (Edith) Lloyd of Royal Court, peacefully passed away Monday, March 28, 2005 at The Moncton Hospital with her family by her side. Born in Alberta, she was the daughter of the late Luise (Doster) and Ernest Henn. Edith's "Gift of Gab" brought joy to so many. As a banker's wife, she moved throughout British Columbia. She always took a leadership role in the United Church and community organizations. Edith had a wonderful sense of family and community and extended generous goodwill to all - above all a loving Mother and Soulful Friend. MEINHARDT, ROYCE OLGA - It is with great sadness that the family of Royce Olga Meinhardt announce her passing on Monday, March 28, 2005 at the Saint John Regional Hospital. Royce was the loving and devoted wife of the late Henry Meinhardt. Born in Salmon Creek, NB, September 5, 1934, she was the daughter of the late Joseph and Hanna (Drost) Toussaint. Royce is survived by her son John Henry, Rothesay, NB, and daughter Catherine Ann (L. Ray Smallwood), St. John's, NL. She was the devoted Nannee to her grandchildren Melissa Leanne, Amanda Cristen, and Matthew Jonathan Ray Smallwood. Royce is also survived by her brothers and sisters Della, James (Myra), Loreina (Jack), Judy (Frank), Linda (Richard), Robert (Marilyn), Joann and Leonard, her sisters-in-law Gloria and Mary Ellen, and several nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by infant brothers Ferdinand, Victor, Norman and Floyd and her step-brother Robert. She was a long time resident of Kennebecasis Park and was member of St. David's United Church, Rothesay. She will be greatly missed by her family, Ray's family and her many friends. She was born March 6, 1931, in Hartford, and was a long-time resident of Wethersfield before retiring to Florida. She was employed for many years by the Travelers Insurance Company. She leaves two sons, Robert and Thomas; a daughter-in-law; two grandchildren; and a brother. Richard (Dick) Walter Hughes March 19, 1932 - March 28, 2005 Funeral arrangements by Leyden's Funeral Home (Calgary) Dick Hughes of Calgary, Alberta passed away at the Rosedale Hospice in Calgary in the early morning of Tuesday, March 29, 2005, after a brief battle with cancer. Dick and his two devoted brothers, Robert A. Hughes (of London, Ontario) and Thomas K. Hughes (of London, Ontario), were born in Noranda, Quebec to Robert and Olive Hughes, both born in Sault Ste. Marie, Ontario. Dick’s family moved to Sudbury, Ontario in 1937 where he and his brothers were raised. Dick joined the Princess Patricia Light Infantry division of the Canadian Armed Forces in January 1951, until his honorable discharge in March 1954. Dick is fondly remembered for his courageous service in the Korean War, where he fearlessly and selflessly helped rescue his wounded comrades amidst open fire on the battlefield, after having been seriously wounded himself from gunfire. After his military, Dick lived in Vancouver, British Columbia for several years until settling in Calgary, Alberta in 1964. Dick worked for several years as an Ironworker, including acting as a Foreman and Superintendent on several large projects in Alberta, including the Husky Tower (now the Calgary Tower). In 1975, Dick left his trade to obtain his real estate license, and ultimately joined RE/MAX (Central), working diligently for his clients until shortly before his passing. Dick was well-known in the community and earned the respect and dedication of many. His efforts toward helping others are exemplified by his membership in Alcoholics Anonymous since 1967, where Dick supported, counseled and sponsored countless individuals in their battle with alcoholism. Dick will be sorely missed within the organization. In 1973, Dick met his soul mate and love of his life, Joanne Hughes (nee Lakie) and the couple married in Calgary that same year. Joanne tragically and unexpectedly predeceased Dick one week ago during Dick's battle with cancer. Dick was an instrumental and cherished figure in the life and upbringing of Joanne's two children, Kelly Elhatton (nee Rempel) of Lethbridge, Alberta, and Michael Rempel of Calgary, Alberta. Along with his stepchildren and his brothers, Tom and Bob Hughes, Dick is survived by his loving daughter Shannon Powell of Grande Prairie, Alberta, who has tirelessly been by Dick's side during his illness, and his eight grandchildren: Ryan, Christopher and Travis, children of Shannon Powell; Chelsey and Jordan, children of Kelly Elhatton; and Brittany, Jenna and Taylor, children of Michael Rempel. Dick, the world will be a less colorful place without you. We love you dearly. A memorial service will be held at 11:30 a.m., Thursday, March 31, 2005, at The Anglican Parish of St. Barnabas, 1407- 7th Avenue N.W., Calgary, Alberta, with a reception to follow at the Parish. HARRISON, ERIC "DALE" - Unexpectedly at his residence on Thursday, March 3, 2005, Dale Harrison passed away. Husband of Brenda (Farrow) for 60 years and a son to the late Stanley William Harrison, & the late Miss Dale. Dale was born on December 13, 1919 in Saint John, NB. He joined the Royal Bank of Canada in 1937. In 1939 he volunteered in the Canadian Army and was stationed in England where he met his lovely wife Brenda. In 1965 moved to England and continued work with the Royal Bank until retirement. An active member of the British Legion and the Canadian Legion. Attended the Stone Church. Dale was a very caring and loving person. His passion was to travel. Dale is survived by his sons, Paul Harrison (Ethel), Grand Bay, NB, Michael Harrison, Oxted, Surrey England, & daughter Ruth Bullard of Arunde, Sussex England and several grandchildren and great grandchildren. CARRIÈRE, Réal 1929-2005 Un battant nous a quittés... Il a mené son combat dignement avec toute sa détermination et ce jusqu'à la dernière minute. Serein et conscient de ce qu'il devait abandonner, il disait: "Je pars dans la joie, ne soyez pas inquiets de moi." Il s'est éteint en emportant avec lui tout l'amour des gens qui l'ont si bien entouré jusqu'à la fin. Homme de service, sa grande générosité et son humour nous auront tous marqués. DUNCAN, Grant George The family announces with sorrow, his peaceful death, surrounded by his loving family, Monday, March 28, 2005 at the age of 75 years. Son of the late William Robert and of the late Emma Madeleine (née Grant) Duncan. Husband of the late Gertrude Duncan (née Oram). Loving father of Judy Duncan (Terry) of Spring Bay, Joan Leonard (Robert) of Sudbury, Grant Duncan (Monique) and William Duncan (Kim) both of Coniston and Daniel Duncan (Kristina) of Sioux Lookout. Dear brother of Wilma Marguette (Merv), Dorothy MacDonald and Kathleen Gauvreau all of North Bay. Sadly missed and lovingly remembered by his 9 grandchildren, Derek, William, Aimee, Grant, Christopher, Michael, Jody, Simon and Jeffrey. Mr. Duncan was a retired police officer with the Sudbury Regional Police Force. An avid outdoorsman, Grant enjoyed spending time at his cottage and also hunting and fishing.
