GODDARD, K. Judith (nee Whalen) - Quietly on March 29, 2005, at Peterborough Regional Health Centre. She was 79. Judy was married for 50 years to the late Paul Goddard, with whom she enjoyed camping, canoeing, skiing, sailing, and cycling. They raised seven children: Suzanne Cook (David), John, Sylvia Cashmore (Jim), Eric (Anne Francis), Ted (Tracy Fadden), Mary Reeve, and Marjorie Wingrove (Felix Brown). She worked as a medical secretary for Ralph Hull for 17 years. Judy was also blessed with eleven grandchildren: Joey Lynne, Steve, Marlie, Jay, Tamara, Erin, Julie, Jessica, Matthew, Diane, and Reilly. Judy enjoyed the companionship of Don Sheppard in her final years, travelling and socializing with a wide circle of friends. She said a special goodbye to 85 friends and family members by hosting lunch at a Stoney Lake resort last November, six months after her cancer diagnosis. Dozens of loved ones also came together to care for her at home for most of her final two months. Judy was a loyal friend with a great gift for listening empathetically. She always amazed us with her energy and gentle strength. Friends will be received at the COMSTOCK FUNERAL HOME & CREMATION CENTRE, 356 Rubidge Street from 2-4 p.m. & 7-9 p.m. Thursday, March 31. VANDER ZWAAG, Willemina (Minnie) - After a brief illness the Lord called Minnie home on March 28, 2005. She went home peacefully, surrounded by her family, after 87 years of service, to her Saviour. She, her husband Louw and two children immigrated to Canada in 1951 and dairy farmed in Indian River until 1978. CRAIG L. WILSON It is with great sadness we announce the passing of Craig L. Wilson, 34, on March 19, 2005 in Gravenhurst, Ont. Craig was born Feb. 18, 1971 in Fort Frances, Ont. Craig spent many of his childhood days at the family cabin on Lake Despair, fishing with his Gramma Vi, racing canoes, and listening to his beloved Uncle Dale’s big fish stories. In more recent years, he spent a lot of time with his Uncle Phil, with whom he shared many hobbies. Craig was a generous, sweet, and comedic young man. He was filled with laughter and made everybody smile. Craig’s mother was very special to him, as he was to her. He was “The Wind Beneath his Mother’s Wings.” Craig was predeceased by his grandparents, Jo and Violet Wilson, and Hilton and Eunice Davis; and uncle, Dale Wilson. Craig was special in many ways and will be sadly missed by all who knew and loved him. Interment will take place in Fort Frances at a later date.

EDITH IRENE OGDEN Edith Irene Ogden, 89, of Fort Frances, Ont., passed away Wednesday, March 23, 2005 at La Verendrye General Hospital in Fort Frances. She was born Feb. 17, 1916 in Emo, Ont. to the late John and Susan McEachern. Edith had lived all her life in Rainy River District. After her marriage, she lived in Aylsworth Township until later moving to Fort Frances. She was a member of St. Andrew’s Presbyterian Church in Fort Frances until the church’s closure in September, 2004. Edith is survived by her children, Don (Cathy) Ogden, Ken (Florence) Ogden, Sharon (Paul) Wilhelm, and Barbara (Roy) Avis. Also surviving are her grandchildren, Colleen (Nick) Chubenko, Brian (Debbie) Ogden, Brad (Camille) Wilhelm, Paula (Andre) Goulah, Bob Ogden (Susan), Kendra Ogden (Mike), Kimberly Avis, and Chad (Lynne) Avis; great-grandchildren, Larissa and Julianna Chubenko, Mykayla Loutchan, Connor and Samantha Wilhelm, Brianne and Jared Ogden, Danielle and William Goulah, and Peyton Avis; as well as numerous nieces and nephews. She was united in marriage to Woodbury “Woody” Ogden, who predeceased her on Aug. 6, 1988. She also was predeceased by her brothers, Rodney, Elmer, Harvey, and Don McEachern; sister, Verna Morphet; and grandson, Brent Ogden. Funeral services were held Saturday, March 26, 2005 at 1 p.m. at Knox United Church in Fort Frances. Rev. Marietta Marshall officiated, with interment in Riverview Cemetery in Fort Frances. Pallbearers were Terry Ogden, Stancey Ogden, Gary Ogden, Bob Ogden, Chad Avis, and Brad Wilhelm. The honourary pallbearers were Claude McFarland, Bob Lidkea, Dave Hughes, Bruce Lidkea, Cliff Larry, and Jim Newman. In memoriam donations may be made to the Heart and Stroke Foundation of Ontario, 920 Frenette Ave., Fort Frances, Ont., P9A 3N4, or to the charity of your own choice.

AYLSWORTH, Glena Milward On Tuesday, March 29, 2005 at St. Lawrence Lodge, Brockville in her 100th year. Born in Burlington, VT on March 6, 1906 she was the daughter of the Andrew Benjamin Aylsworth and Jennie Agnes Rutherford. Due to the death of he r mother, she went to live and work for Mr. and Mrs. Austin M. Fraser of Odessa, Ontario and has remained a beloved member of the Fraser and Carr families. Miss Aylsworth was predeceased by her brother Arthur Aylesworth, and by her sisters Grace Mars hall, Gertrude Moore, Nora Aylsworth and Madelle Free. She is survived by her sister-in-law Mrs. Susie Aylesworth of Kingston, by her niece Vera O'Neill of Odessa and several other nieces, nephews and dear friends. "She lived a life of serving others : family, church and friends. She gave to several charities and used many of her talents making things for those less fortunate or those with a particular need. She had an intense interest in families and what the families were doing." BRADLEY, F. John (Jack) At the Queensway Carleton Hospital on Tuesday, March 29, 2005 in his 89th year. Beloved husband for 63 years of Muriel Grace Bradley (nee Currie). Loved father of Murray Bradley (Sheila) of Victoria B.C. and Beverley Reeves (Peter) of Nepean. Grandpa to his dearest Andrea. Also survived by his sister Joan Chilcott. Predeceased by his sisters Helen Bradley and Freda Cameron and his brother Pilot Officer Robert Bradley, RCAF Bomber Command, shot down over Berlin in January 1944. Jack was a veteran of World War II, serving with the RCAF (Radar) from 1941 to 1945. Following the war Jack was employed by R.L. Crain Ltd. in Ottawa, Maple Leaf Mills in Toronto and Canadian Government Exhibition Commission and Trade Fairs and Missions Branch of the Department of Trade and Commerce, Ottawa. Special thanks to the caregivers at Lynwood Park Lodge and the caregivers and nursing staff at Stillwater Creek Community Retirement Centre for their excellent and loving care over the past two years. BARILE, Michele. (1919-2005) It is with great sorrow that we announce the passing of Michele Barile on Monday, March 28, 2005. Predeceased by his loving wife Serafina Iafrancesco. BRENNAN, Mary Cecilia. Peacefully on March 28, 2005, in her ninety-first year. Born in Outremont, Quebec on March 30, 1914. Daughter of the late William Vincent Brennan and the late Helena Duclos Brennan. Beloved sister of Paul D.E. Brennan of Toronto, Lawrence A. Brennan of Los Angeles and the late William (Billie) Brennan. Dearly loved aunt of Marian, Bill (Leslie), Barbara (Terry McConnell), Bridget, Nancy, Kevin (Deborah), Dan (Allison), Peter (Patti) and Peggy (Jeff Strong). Sister-in-law of the late Madeline McCarthy Brennan (Paul) and the late Joan Curran Brennan (Larry). Great-aunt to seventeen great-nieces and great-nephews. Mary was a Civil Servant with Revenue Canada in Montreal until her retirement. She strongly believed in community service, and her contribution to both St. Monica's Parish and St. Mary's Hospital in Montreal is an example of this. Mary "Betty" Elizabeth Palmer January 20, 1932 - March 29, 2005 Funeral arrangements by Atlantic Funeral Home (Lower Sackville) PALMER, Mary Elizabeth "Betty" - Age 73, Bedford, formerly of Waverley, passed away peacefully at home surrounded by her family on March 29, 2005. Born in Jacques River, N.B., she was a daughter of the late Delphus and Lena (Young) Guitard. During her many years in Waverley, Betty devoted numerous hours of her time to various charities including Heart and Stroke Foundation of Nova Scotia and the United Way. She was an active member of St. John's Anglican Church. After moving to Bedford, she became a member of the Bedford Leisure Club, and a volunteer at Fultz House Museum. Her hobbies included bowling and serving on the Social Club at her condo building. Betty was a loving mother, grandmother and great-grandmother, and will be deeply missed. She is survived by her only son, Dwayne (Lois), Ottawa, Ont.; daughters, Debi (Randy) Jones, Hammonds Plains; Linda (Donnie) Wilkinson, Campbell River, B.C.; Judy (Paul), Bedford; Holly (John) Bulley, Halifax; Margo (Gerald) MacKay, Prospect; 12 grandchildren and six great-grandchildren; brothers, Alvin (Gloria), Gerald (Bev), and Donat; sister, Veronica Maxwell; several nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by her husband, John Thornton Palmer. A memorial service will be held at 1 p.m. Friday in St. Thomas Anglican Church, Fall River, Rev.
