CHESNEE, S.C. - Pauline Blais Stevens, 70, of Chesnee, S.C., died Feb. 7 at her home, with her family at her side, after a long courageous battle with cancer.Born in Lisbon, May 4, 1934, the daughter of Odinais Blais and Alice Pariseau, she married Kenneth "Bud" Stevens on Sept. 4, 1954 at St. Anne's Rectory in Lisbon.She received a certificate of appreciation from the U.S. Air Force for her unfailing support and understanding of her husband's 26 years of military service. Upon his retirement in 1977, the family moved to Boiling Springs, S.C., from Minot, N.D. Bud and Pauline celebrated their 50th wedding anniversary in September 2004.Survivors include her husband, Bud Stevens of Chesnee, S.C.; a son, Gary Stevens and wife, Mary-Anne, of Boiling Springs, S.C.; daughter, Donna Hajek and her husband, Dr. Philip Hajek, of Fargo, N.D.; daughters, Debora Stevens of Boiling Springs, S.C., and Sandra Hughey of Inman, S.C.; three grandchildren, Carly Stevens, and Ashlee and Andrew Hughey; and four sisters, Ernestine Menkevich of Lewiston, Yvette Emmons of Woonsocket, R.I., Theresa Beliveau of Quebec, Canada, and Rachel Richard of Lisbon.She was predeceased by two brothers, Robert and Renaud Blais.

COOK, GORDON HOWARD - Surrounded by his loving family, the death of Mr. Gordon Howard Cook, 82, husband of the late Fanny Etta (McLeese) Cook, occurred on February 8th, 2005 at the Saint John Regional Hospital, Saint John, NB. Born in Back Bay, NB on October 18, 1922, he was a son of the late Lorenzo Earl and Melvina Merinda Cook. A loving father, grandfather and brother. Gordon is survived by one son, Rev. Gordon Cook Jr. (Anne) of Back Bay; two daughters, Juanita Faye Cook of Back Bay and Candis Jean Cook of Calgary, AB; five grandchildren; seven great-grandchildren; one brother, Manford Cook (Irene) of Back Bay; several nieces, nephews and cousins. He was pre-deceased by three brothers, Earl, Roland and Marvin; and three sisters, Georgia, Nellie and Lillian. Gordon spent his life as a fisherman and employee of Connors Bros. Ltd., as a Shipping Room foreman, for 40 years. He was a member of Sea View Full Gospel Church for 50 years, and was a great outdoorsman who loved to fish and hunt. Resting at Sea View Full Gospel Church, Back Bay, from where the service will be held on Thursday, February 10th at 4:00 pm, officiated by Rev. Gary Hanley. Interment to take place at the St. George Rural Cemetery in the spring. Visiting at the church on Wednesday from 2-4 and 7-9 pm. NEW BEDFORD -- Beatrice R. (Coderre) Methe, 86, of Fairhaven died Monday, Feb. 7, 2005, in St. Luke's hospital. She was the widow of Phillippe Methe. Born Sept. 13, 1918, in New Bedford, she was the daughter of the late Napoleon and Amanda (Bourgeois) Coderre. She grew up in New Bedford, moved to Fort Myers, Fla., in 1974 and had lived at Alden Place for one year. She was a trimmer for Acushnet Rubber and did bookkeeping with her husband for Lateurneau and Methe Land Clearing. Mrs. Methe was a member of the Women's Auxiliary of Knight's of Columbus in Fort Myers. She enjoyed spending time with her grandchildren and reading. Survivors include two daughters, Pauline Lincoln, and her husband, Glenn, of Acushnet, Diane Kois, and her husband, Gary, of Tucson, Ariz.; one sister, Lucille Coderre of Fairhaven; six grandchildren; four great-grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews. Her funeral will be at 8 a.m. from the Fairhaven Funeral Home, 117 Main St., Fairhaven, followed by a Mass of Christian Burial at 9 a.m. at St. Joseph's and St. Therese Catholic Church in New Bedford. Interment will be in Fort Myers Cemetery at a later date.

Raymond R. LaMonde, beloved husband of Theresa (Kelly) Anderson LaMonde of East Hartford, died, Monday, (February 7, 2005) at St. Francis Hospital. Born in New Bedford, MA, son of the late Leon and Mary (Beauregard) LaMonde, he had lived in East Hartford for the last 45 years. Before retiring he was employed in the Health Department for the State of Connecticut for 28 years. Mr. LaMonde was a communicant of St. Francis of Assisi Church, South Windsor. Norman Wayne Martel Jr., 36, of Old Dover Road in Concord, died Monday, Feb. 7, 2005, at Concord Hospital. He was born in Concord, the son of Norman Sr. and Barbara (Moynihan) Martel. He attended Pembroke Academy and spent his entire career as a truck driver. Norman was a beloved father, and he loved driving, traveling and cruise ships. In addition to his parents, he is survived by two sons, Mitchell and Seth Martel of Meredith; his former wife, Pauline Milbourne of Meredith; one brother, Wayne Martel of Webster; his grandmother, Irene Martel; his close friend, Jeff Smith of Concord; and aunts, uncles, cousins and many friends. BRUSSEAU, CHAD WILLIAM July 3, 1973 - February 5, 2005. Chad William Brusseau was born July 3, 1973, in Portland. He lost his battle with drug addiction Feb. 5, 2005. He was 31 years old. A celebration of his life will be 1:00 p.m. Saturday, Feb. 12 at Lincoln Street Baptist Church, 3240 SE Lincoln St. At a young age, Chad's stubborn attitude and mischievous behavior led to many laughs and memories. Chad attended Benson High School. He enjoyed cars, music, and joking with the people he loved. You could always count on him for a laugh. His son, Austin William Brusseau, was born July 23, 1996. Chad was a very proud father and had pictures to show to anybody who would hold still. Chad left an impression on everybody who met him. He has taken with him a piece of every person whose life he touched. He has left behind a piece of himself with each of us. He is survived by his son, Austin; parents, David and Karon Brusseau; brothers, Ryan and Auston; sister, Shannon McCullough (Craig); grandmothers, Emma Brusseau and Lee Koch; niece, Emmalee McCull-ough; and many aunts, uncles, and cousins. Doris L. Braget Tetrault -- Doris L. Braget Tetrault age 83 of Bremerton, WA, and formerly of Walhalla, ND, died on Saturday, January 29, 2005, in Bremerton, WA. Doris L. Hillier was born December 13, 1921, at Easby, ND, to Harold Roland and Viola (Campbell) Hillier. She grew up and attended school in Walhalla and the surrounding area, and graduated from Walhalla High School in 1939. On January 30, 1943, she married Louis Braget at Junction City, KS. After their marriage, Louis served in General Patton's armored division in the European Theater during World War II, while she lived in Bremerton, WA, where she worked in the salvage department of the Puget Sound Navy Yard. In 1945, they returned to Walhalla and later moved to The Dalles, OR, for three years returning to Walhalla in 1956. Louis Braget died on February 17, 1971. Doris worked at Morin Pharmacy in Walhalla for nearly 20 years until 1973. On July 2, 1973, she married Lawrence "Whitey' Tetrault at Walhalla, ND. After their marriage they moved to Bremerton, WA. Lawrence Tetrault died on November 30, 1988. She was active in the Ladies of the Elks, the Y.M.C.A. where she enjoyed exercise and other activities, the Summit Avenue Presbyterian Church, all of Bremerton, WA, and was a life-long member of the Walhalla American Legion Auxiliary. She especially enjoyed sewing, crossword puzzles, and attending the sporting events of her grandsons. Doris is survived by her daughters, Lori (Neil) McCormick, Shoreview, MN, Karen (Rodney) Huffman, Walhalla, ND, and Sheryl (Lyle) Webb, Bremerton, WA, grandsons, Bryan and Scott Webb both of Bremerton, WA, sisters, Letamae "Dolly' (Edwin) Moon, Kingston, WA, and Maureen (Jack) Gennai, Brookings, OR. She was preceded in death by her parents, brothers, Wellington "Sonny' Hillier in childhood and Elwood Hillier, sisters, Lexy Crowston and Celo Braget. CHICOPEE – Beatrice M. (Leblanc) Verville, 93, a longtime resident of Peloquin Drive in the Willimansett section of Chicopee was Called Safely Home on Sunday February 6, 2005. She was last employed as an assembler for the F. W. Sickles Company in Chicopee and retired in 1973. She was born in Saint Jacques, Province of Quebec, Canada on March 29, 1911 a beloved daughter of the late Marcel and Albina (Jette) Leblanc. She moved to Holyoke in 1957 and later moved to Grattan Street in the Aldenville section of Chicopee. She moved to Willimansett in 1973. Her beloved husband, Charles E. Verville was Called Home on April 4, 1981. She leaves her loving son, Donald R. Verville and his wife Estelle of Aldenville. Her two cherished grandchildren, Thomas R. Verville of Aldenville and Michelle M. Vandervelde and her husband Greg of Denver, CO. Her cherished great granddaughter, Regan Elizabeth Vandervelde and her many dear nephews and nieces. She was predeceased by her six dear brothers, Hervey Leblanc, Jean Leblanc, Omer Leblanc, Armand Leblanc, Edward Leblanc and Rosaire LeBlanc and her three dear sisters, Alberta Lapointe, Diana Lapointe and Flora Leblanc. Pearl Julia LaCroix, age 96 years, died on Monday, February 7, 2005 in Heritage Manor Nursing Home, Mandeville, LA. Daughter of the late Paul Joseph and Pauline (Zinser) LaCroix. She was a native and life resident of Covington, LA. Ms. LaCroix was a retired teacher, teaching elementary education for 42 years in the St. Tammany Parish School System, mostly at Covington Elementary. She attended Normal School in New Orleans and received her teaching degree from Southeastern University. A member of the Covington Presbyterian Church, the Louisiana Retired Teachers' Association, the American Legion Ladies Auxiliary and the Order of Eastern Star Covington Chapter. LaCour III, Ovide B. A lifelong resident of LaCour, he died at 11:40 p.m. Monday, Feb. 7, 2005, at Our Lady of the Lake Regional Medical Center. He was 79 and a veteran of World War II, having served in the U.S. Marine Corps, 5th Amphibious Battalion, 2nd Marine Division. He served in active duty from 1942 to 1945 in the Pacific Theater. WEST SPRINGFIELD - Paul D. Bourassa, 65, of 450 Brush Road, died Monday in Baystate Medical Center. He was born in Springfield and raised and educated in West Springfield, where he lived all his life. He worked for Buoniconti Farms for over 30 years and later worked as a truck driver for J. Polep & Sons for 15 years. Paul was an avid sports fan and collector of antiques. He was predeceased by his parents Delmore and Genevieve Bourassa. He leaves his wife Angel (Lee) Bourassa of West Springfield, two sons, Dominic of Southwick and Gari of West Springfield, a daughter Kathleen Bourassa of West Springfield, two step daughters Liz Amato of West Springfield and Theresa LaCroix of DelRay, FL, a brother Delmore "Ozzie" Bourassa and his wife Liz of Southwick, two sisters, Roslind "Linda" Piela of Springfield and Kathy Hamborg of West Springfield and seven grandchildren, Christopher, Gari, Johnny, Nina, Dominic, Frank and Therese. SMITH, THE REVEREND A. RAYMOND - The Reverend A. Raymond Smith, 96, of Gardiner died Saturday, February 5, 2005 at the Alzheimer's Care Center in Gardiner. He was born February 28, 1908 in Long Reach, New Brunswick, Canada, the son of Frederick Edwin and Frances (Holder) Smith. He attended schools in Long Reach and Kingston in New Brunswick and graduated from King's College Divinity School of Dalhousie University in Halifax, Nova Scotia. He was ordained to the priesthood in the Anglican tradition in 1932. During his long career in the ministry, Father Smith served parishes in New Bandon, Campobello, Stanley and St. Stephen in New Brunswick, Fort Fairfield, Maine, North Grafton, Massachusetts, Woodstock, Vermont and Augusta and Hallowell, Maine. Early in his ministry, Father Smith was a Protestant Chaplain for a small leper colony in Tracadie, New Brunswick. Later, he was Rector of St. Anne's Anglican Church, Campobello Island, which was attended by President Franklin D. Roosevelt and family during their summers on the island. He was asked to participate in services at St. James Episcopal Church in Hyde Park, New York, during the 1939 Royal Visit of King George VI and Queen Elizabeth of England. While Father Smith was serving at Saint Andrew's Church in North Grafton, Massachusetts, he was instrumental in the construction of a new church building with one of the first fiberglass steeples in the United States. He also created and conducted a radio program of evening prayer titled,"Tis Eventide." This program continued through his ministry at Saint James' Church in Woodstock. Father Smith was very active in the Ministry of Spiritual Healing and in the Order of Saint Luke, becoming well known in the field and eventually the director of the eastern region of the School of Pastoral Care. He officially retired from Saint James' in 1974 and returned to Maine to continue his ministry at parishes in Hallowell and Augusta until his final retirement in 1988. Father Smith had built a summer camp on the bank of the Saint John River in Long Reach, N.B. in 1947. He greatly enjoyed returning there every summer with his family. He was predeceased by his first wife, the former Frances Plimsoll Withers and his second wife, the former Katherine Collins Mayer. Father Smith is survived by a sister, Lillian Grant, of Roxboro, Quebec; his three children, Frances Roger and her husband, John, of New Milford, CT, Gray Smith, of South Thomaston, ME and Susannah Watts and her husband, Andrew, of Augusta, ME; eight grandchildren and fifteen great-grandchildren. A memorial service will be held at a later date at Saint James' Anglican Church, Long Reach, N.B., Canada. In lieu of donations or flowers, the family suggests an act of kindness for a senior citizen in Father Smith's memory.
